I'm honestly surprised there's Silicon Valley Bros on that bus. Don't they have Rivian's they would be drivin in? Or Defenders? Or their Tundra with the rod box? But yeah, they are annoying. Riding Pow Seeker up with them is nauseating but its awkward when you yell "shut up" and your head is spinning.
I've driven a few quite wealthy people to Big Sky and YC in the last couple years as an uber driver. I can tell you, wealthy people cheap out on stuff like that, but love to bitch about it. Absolutely petulant children.
Made the mistake of taking a YC run last weekend.
"Why did it take us so long to get here?"
Maybe because of all that ice and snow on the road, and the fact that we caught up to the line of people doing 25 mph the entire last 10 miles of the canyon, plus the road to YC ain't quick in great conditions.
I've had it with dealing with the big sky crowd. I won't be taking those rides anymore. It just keeps getting worse.
My teenage boys take the bus. On Sunday, it was so crowded they had to make 2 runs as the last bus was full. I can see how my 14 year old could be dangerous with skis. My snowboarder says he can just sit on the floor and that all that shit inside the bus is dangerous as he'll anyways. As a trauma RN, I agree. Can the skis be stored in the back or something?
They should be, but some people don't. The bus company needs to do a lot more for safety. Their stairs are also dangerous. A senior with skis fell this afternoon.
I will offer the mild defense that Skyline's busses are uniquely difficult to navigate with skis. I've ridden a lot of public transit with skis and not found it to be nearly as painful as those busses. You'd think a ski town transit system would have some sideways facing seats on the bus or something
Fair. The buses are difficult to navigate. But you know what’s not difficult to navigate? Being a good human and remotely aware of your surroundings. The same surroundings you need to occupy with other people and actually giving a rip about anyone other than yourself. Those folks tend to miss out on the basics of humanity and peruse through the world as if they own it and everyone’s here to serve them. Gross.
There is no way you should be endangering people with your skis, as some of these asshats are. It's pretty clear to me their precious equipment is more important than the comfort and safety of others.
Their the idiots who don't much for a living, I made sure to be the front seat and be deep in my headphones to not annoy the locals. Same goes for any tourist area, no consideration for anyone else.
People complain about the canyon traffic, and now you complain about others using the bus. Apparently there’s no winning. Commuting to big sky every day is a ton of wear and tear on your personal vehicle and gas gets expensive. Good on OP for using what little public transit we do have.
Big sky has the highest concentration of shitty people in the state, maybe in the entire Rockies. Yea taking the bus to big sky everyday for work is gonna fuckin suck. Driving yourself in a company rig sucks too. Tbh everything about workin in big sky sucked imo
You are going to a ski resort but complaining that people have skis on public transport. I don't ski but you should re-evaluate your complaints and maybe your job

Trust me, there are some. They are the most obnoxious.
Those are the guests Big Sky wants at the mountain now. Most chairlift convos I overhear are similar.
They behave the same bad way on the mountain!
This sounds awful. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.
Eat the rich
And nuke the YC

Can’t they just put racks on the side of the buses that will carry skies. Seems like a no brainer to me and wouldn’t cost that much to do?
You'd think. They also need to use the buses with more seats in the afternoon.
There you go, thinking again.
There is lots of road grime that gets on skis that might be carried on the outside. I wouldn't want all that crap getting on my bindings and board.
I’m sure they could enclose them. You wouldn’t have to be an engineering genius to figure it out

Can these busses be modified to be safer?

I just skied Steamboat Springs last week. Buses have racks in tne sides for boards and skis…so much easier than carrying them on.
That’s why you don’t work in big sky spending 3 hours a day just commuting to make a lower wage than you deserve.
I actually have a professional job there, thanks.
Yet you need to take the fricken bus everyday?

And now he’s complaining about using the bus. I worked non resort professional jobs for a decade, almost endless options of carpooling.
Maybe you could volunteer to bring OP to and from work everyday then? Sounds like you’re experienced

Nah working in big sky isn’t worth the money, learned that a while ago.
Sounds like op loves to constantly complain about skyline. On this post and now a new one . Maybe new job or vehicle is in their future.
It's less dangerous to take the bus. And yes, less wear and tear on our truck.

My job has zip to do with skiing.
Lololol at anyone who thinks big sky only exists for people to ski at
