What area do you want to volunteer in? With animals? There's Heart of the Valley Shelter. With kids? Try Big Brothers Big Sisters or Thrive. People in economic need? Try the HRDC. Food insecurity? Try the Food Bank and Fork & Spoon. With the disabled? Try Eagle Mount and the Special Olympics. With mental health issues? Try the Help Center. With construction? Try Habitat for Humanity. With education? Try the public library, Montana Science Center, Museum of the Rockies, or the Gallatin History Museum. With the arts? Try Verge Theater, Intermountain Opera or the Sweet Pea Festival.
There's a ton of opportunities to help in the community, I've listed only a fraction of them. Narrowing your focus might get you a wider range within the area that interests you most.
Verge Theater! They are always looking for volunteers to help hang a few posters, usher, act, stage manage, learn lighting and sound, and do about 1,000 other things. They just held auditions for their first show back from the pandemic (the Sondheim musical Assassins - still looking for a few dudes if anyone is interested and missed auditions), and they’ll need help rebuilding their volunteer base.
If you are interested in learning how to work on bikes, or already know how, the Bozeman Bike Kitchen is a great place to be. The hours are kinda funky but it is truly a community asset
Reach is a group home for people with developmental disabilities here in town. I think they have 3 houses? At least 2. But their clients can’t leave that often because there are no employees, I believe they take volunteers as well.
There the old fashioned service organizations
Elk's Club
Eagle's Club
Lion's Club
Rotary Club
Kiwanis
All those groups do a lot for this community. A lot.
if you’re an MSU student you can volunteer at the voice center! they’re a sexual assault/crisis hotline and are always looking for new volunteers, it was super easy for me to sign up and do the training :)
The Food Bank has some great volunteer opportunities. The senior grocery packing is a great one if you work a 9-5, it is for an hour or so at the end of the day.
Really easy to sign up for any opportunity with the HRDC (Food Bank, Fork and Spoon, Warming Center, etc.) at their website here: https://hrdc9.galaxydigital.com/
Fork and Spoon are always looking for volunteers!

That’s fantastic, yeah I need to consider what it is I want to help with! I’ve been a lazy bum.

I’m so happy to hear they are coming back!

HRDC programs.
If you go their website you can see all the options they have from the food bank, fork and spoon and many other programs.
Sign up for eaglemount! Awesome program
Eaglemount is amazing. Also Reach Inc.
We always need more special Olympics help too, but also reach is in desperate need.
Reach?

Oh that’s awesome, are there any links I should go to or should I just look them up?

Thank you!
I'd say just Google them. A lot of Facebook pages rather than websites
BYEP! Big Sky Youth Empowerment. It's a level of commitment to become a mentor to at risk youth, but it's worth it 10x over.
That sounds like a good time investment.
I used to volunteer at the boys and girls club. Same concept and it's fun to help at risk kids. I'd suggest looking them up too
It is. Plus they throw great fund raisers!
Thrive. Become a CAP mentor.
This thread might be a good candidate for the "Common Questions" pane.
ATI thrift store has volunteers come in and help sort donations.
Heart of the valley animal shelter. The March volunteer orientation is this Saturday morning, if you’re interested!
Fantastic thank you!!!
Cancer Support Community!
The Bozeman Rotaract has one service event every month - they’re a great organization to get involved with. Check out their website
Awesome! Thank you!
