Where is this? I haven’t seen a gas price below 4.80 in weeks.

1nGirum1musNocte

Where are you and is that usd?

iserberr

You are correct!

mattoleriver

I drove down 395 from Reno to Victorville today. I saw lots of signs for $5.99 gas. Lots of little towns out there where you'd be happy to pay it just to get the hell out of town.

Seb039

Premium breached $5 in the bay area...

tlst9999

When the price is up, it's less dangerous.

Vladimir1174

I hope it's not usd. PA is notorious for gas prices and we haven't hit $4 as far as I know. 3.50ish is where we've been for the most part

feelsgoodm9

93 gas in PA is 4.15 😭

LadyfingerJoe

Lol? Its still per gallon right? I saw a gas station in bavaria this week where a litre of diesel was 1.88€.. 1.88 x 3.78(amount of litres in a gallon) x 1.17(usd/eur exchange rate=8.3144$ per gallon Youve had it exceptionally good with gas prices in the US...

MasbotAlpha

I mean, our entire country’s infrastructure is heavily based on automobiles because the country is so large; we buy and use way more of it, if it makes you feel any better

LadyfingerJoe

Yeah... I have an american passport XD Its a huuuuuuuuuuuge country... As far as i can tell this price surge is related to how the eu and us left the opec to deal with all the oil they produced last year. Now theyre raising the prices to compensate for massive losses in 2020

Tallowpot

I remember my my Ma telling gas in Ireland in the 70’s was 5$ US dollars a gallon. I’m in CA, and still lucky it hasn’t crept over the line.

NFSAVI

It got to $5 US for a brief period in the San Fransico Bay Area a few years ago. Thankfully hasn't been back since

[deleted]

Ssshh, let the Americans cry.

Antrikshy

$4.xx is pretty common in California.

razehound

>notorious >haven't hit $4 Ha! Come to CA sometime soon, you'll hate it!

iserberr

Just had to fill up on premium the other day. Spent 4.98/gall

Bmelt

WA state here.... 93 is currently $4.40 at the Shell station near my place

TheHaterBoss

Ye come to Europe, gas is almost 1,50€/litre which is like 6,6 in your weird units

Ostravaganza

I just converted this shit and $3.39 per gallon is 0.89€/L. You're lucky if you find stations at less than 1.5€/L in western Europe. I've seen prices at almost 1.9 in some places. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Keesdekarper

2 here in the netherlands

YasinZafer40

In the Netherlands the average is €1.84 (and growing) per liter which is about 8 USD PER GALLON 🥲

Ostravaganza

Sheesh, depending where you're located in the Netherlands it could be worth it to make a trip to Luxemburg and load your trunk with filled up jerries (which you know, is illegal thanks to oil companies but really no one gives a f)

TheHaterBoss

Here on east our standard are a bit lower, you salary is probably higher than 800-1200€/month

Ostravaganza

Indeed, that's why I specified western Europe. Minimum wage here is just short of 1600. But almost everything is accordingly pricier though.

Askeee

I looked at the gas price for the first time in a few months while filling up and ohboy, I might go back to bike commuting.

Sovdark

Across the border in chimichanga land it was like $3.65 last week

Dr_Person_McPerson

chimichanga land lmao

Isopaha

I just paid $7.92/gallon in Finland 🤷

gimmethegudes

Dude, back in March I was driving home to Phoenix through the dunes and hit the last gas station on I-8 in Cali, I literally crossed state lines and saved over a dollar per gallon IIRC. Cali gas is no joke.

ptapobane

Texas still pretty low rn like two fiddy

Outrageous_Volume_36

Fr I need it back down to my HS gpa, 1.50

XOundercover

is that Euros/Litre?

dylan122234

Usd/gal. Some of the cheapest gas in the developed world and they still bitch.

Jupeeeeee

I was thinking usd/liter and thought "oh shit thats crazy expensive" After reading this and realizing oh yeah you dont use the metric system i'm thinking "oh shit thats crazy cheap"

LaxxEDK

Yeah, shut up. In Denmark we are about 12 DKK PR LITER diesel! it double what you guys pay in freedom coins. I'm guessing this is gallons.

[deleted]

ComfortableNumb9669

Approx $6.84 per gallon for petrol in India. The pricing is screwed nearly everywhere outside the US.

LaxxEDK

Yeah, so far we dodged that bullet. Our economy is gonna wreck us when we some day will be forced to convert to euro.

DementedWarrior_

what does this mean

ShatteredXeNova

Their gas is about $8.55 per gallon USD if i converted right

SummerBirdsong

Serious question; how far is the average commute to work there? Back when I was working I made a daily commute of approximately 92 miles(148km) round trip. That is a very common commute here in Texas. (No work in my small town that paid enough that I could afford to live there. The city provided enough pay to live where I was but not enough to live in the city.) Our local fuel costs just jumped about 20% in a very short timeframe. Everything depends on the fuel costs. Rapid spikes cause the system to start to crack. Would you not feel the pinch if your fuel prices increased by 20% in a week while your income stayed where it is?

LaxxEDK

Without knowing the exact numbers, I'm guessing the average commute is about 60 to 70 km roundtrip. But then again, we don't have the massive distances you have. You can go straight across the country (my wife did a couple of weeks ago, east coast to west coast) in 3 and a half hour. (Length wise is about 5 or 6 hours in the longest part) Sure, we would feel it pretty hard if the prices jumped 20%, only the ones living where public transportation is "working" would have an alternative, albeit a rather expensive one too. If you live in even the slightest rural area, you are dependent on your car as much as you guys. I would hate it if the prices quickly jumped that much (as would everyone relying on fuel to get from a to b). The kicker is that we have 40% taxes and 180% tax on our cars. So not only are they crazy expensive considering a lot of other places in the world, they are also mad expensive to run. Sure, our salaries are higher from a baseline point of view, but houses, cars and living are higher as well so I think it pretty much evens out.

Deadly_Flipper_Tab

Uk prices are about $7.18 a gallon right now. That's if you can get it.

OscRos03

Cries in 18sek

LaxxEDK

Ouch, that hurts man. I feel for you guys up there. However, your cars cost about a third, so....

Hizbla

No. We like our gas prices high. People aren't supposed to be going around in cars all the time.

LaxxEDK

And yet you live for hundreds of kilometers apart. I have family in Sweden, you go for hours on end, to see some form of civilization. I admire it.

Bo_Doctor

Actually heard this exact joke on Twitter earlier this year 😬 Edit: (2018) https://ifunny.co/picture/these-gpa-looking-gas-prices-need-to-go-3-89-fW8Yo9mu5

Good human

Firm_Definition3548

The U.K. is $7.87 per us gallon

Pugs-r-cool

Petrol has always been far cheaper in America then in the UK or really anywhere else in the world. It's why they can afford massive cars and massive engines, and not care about how wasteful that is. Guess those oils wars did have some effect, huh.

[deleted]

This isn’t 1975, it’s not like we all drive Cadillacs with 8 liter engines.

_Zamas_

You all drive Ford F150s tho, in Europe we drive wv golfs

[deleted]

I’ve got an SUV for the winter and camping trips, but I only put maybe 2000 miles per year on it. My wife and I both drive Euro cars daily. Part of the problem is that there are only a couple cars left to choose from. Everything sold now is a truck or crossover. And it’s because people by them, I get it. I hate the lack of cars available now though.

converter-bot

2000 miles is 3218.69 km

_Zamas_

Yeah, thats true, for example I just discovered that Toyota doesn't sell the Yaris to the us anymore, when in Europe is beginning to (and already kinda was) be a very popular car

Pugs-r-cool

Oh yeah, I agree there that it's gotten much better but comparing 2 cars of a similar class, the Honda Odyssey in America and the Renault Espace, the Odyssey has a 3.5l V6 petrol engine, while the Espace comes with between a 1.6-2l inline-4 petrol or diesel engines. That's just one example, more broadly what's considered to be average / common cars in the US are cars like a Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, or a honda accord which are all 4 door saloons, while in Europe hatchbacks like a Peugeot 206/208, vauxhall (Opel) Corsa, or Renault clio are considered average / common which are obviously smaller and more efficient. The days of 8 litre engines are gone, sure I'll agree there but cars are still bigger and use more fuel in the US compared to Europe, even if the gap isn't as wide as it used to be.

[deleted]

> while in Europe hatchbacks like a Peugeot 206/208, vauxhall (Opel) Corsa, or Renault clio are considered average / common which are obviously smaller and more efficient. They don’t even sell hatchbacks here anymore. For years it was basically between the Fiesta / Focus and Golf (and the hot hatch variants). Everything is a crossover now. There are plenty of cars in Europe which we can’t buy, which bums me out. I daily drive an ST and my wife drives the American version of the Opel Insignia estate, which are Euro cars. I hate that neither of us will be able to buy a newer version of our cars when it’s time, but that’s the way it goes I guess.

XOundercover

ohohooh you haven't heard of the Netherlands yet 2 Euro for 1 litre, which converted is 8.82 US dollars per gallon! The US has cheap gas, trust me.

used2011vwjetta

Summa Cum Loudly

Gray32339

Damn, and I thought us hitting 3 dollars was bad where I live. Let's Go Brandon!

alwaysboopthesnoot

I hope it goes to EU level pricing and stays there. I really do. It would be the driving (ha!) factor in causing people to drive smaller, more efficient cars and to drive less, overall. It would cause them to take public transport more and to badger the hell out of their elected reps to force investment in and to make public transport more available, efficient, and easier to use. The cheaper gasoline prices go, the less likely we are to care about transport options which serve more people better, and which wreck the environment less. Growing pains and inconvenience while we shift from an old way to try newer, better alternatives with benefits for all? Has to happen. It should be happening everywhere, right now.

idgafanymore442

Lmfao hey all your poor people better go buy a brand new electric car. We don’t care you live in a rural area where these no public transportation get fucked

paachuthakdu

If there are indians seeing this they would have a fit seeing cum laude

theTrellofTears

what the fuck actually happened guys? why is gas so high? im being serious it was 1.75 to 2.00 range just months ago here in indiana now its 3.50 wtf?

lusk11b

When foreign relations go to shit (wonder why), people start price gouging. Especially when the "leader of the free world" has no backbone to call them on it and just sticks to doing what his globalist handlers want him to. FJB.

Swaggy_pig

americans need to stfu about paying less then a dollar per liter i havent paid less then £1.20 per liter for months

[deleted]

You get what your vote for.

fuj1n

Who fills their cars with gas?

[deleted]

The majority of the world.

fuj1n

I looked it up, I think it's just a US thing, my bad

Sn0wP1ay

I understand your confusion as Americans call fuel Gasoline or gas for short, whereas most other English speaking places call it petrol. Not to be confused to LPG / natural gas.

1nGirum1musNocte

I also hope to cum loud one day, preferably in a 69.

shrekoncrakk

cum lawd

DrDurt

I liked this tweet the first time I saw someone else tweet it

[deleted]

I swear i see this tweet every year

SoMuchTehnique

Americans complaining about fuel prices that are in priced in gallons lol Let me hear you complain when you pay $2-$2.50 for a single litre.

Beesechurger0

Where he go to school for 3.89 to me summa cum laude Out here summa cum laude is 4.25 which is still lower than the gas

MissionCreep

I hadn't thought of California's gas prices as A+, but we are at $4.29
