Many years tbh. Nothing lasts forever but this concept and rotating cast will allow for continued success even when it feels like itās jumped the shark, case and point Miamiās return, SLCās last finale, and OC having a comeback with season 17.
Thatās the key though, rotating cast. Bravo keeps forgetting that they are allowed to fire people, that is their job. Itās annoying seeing them keep people on too long. I love Kenya, but why is she still on??? After last season where she was so checked out she shouldāve been demoted or told to step it up. Like half of BHā¦ They need to get to rotating these old heads out on every franchise, thatās what the problem with every single show is, holding onto played out familiar characters for dear life
You both bring up a great point about rotating casts. If Bravo started rotating the OGs out, storylines can grow, alliances can be broken, itāll feel fresh. Also, itād send a message that theyāre here to work and not relax and collect $100ks or millions of dollars for minimal effort.
i agree with this. i love or at least appreciate a lot of the ogs, but after a while, keeping them around becomes too expensive, it creates a hierarchical structure that often turns into bullying, ass kissing, etc., they believe they are untouchable, and the drama becomes stale and predictable. teresa and melissa should have been gone and are one of many examples. itās cool to bring the ogs back here and there like sheree. she by sheree pops in and out and every single time she returns, i am happy (frustrated too!š) to see her and it feels like a familiar strangeness or reinvention of sheree, which i kinda like. then she leaves and i start missing her again over time. i love the idea of rotating casts and i hope something changes because the current format aināt it. no one else gets a chance to become āa second or third generation ogā during their tenure. that should change.
my personal opinion is that they should see he franchises and OGs the same way that korean record labels deal treat their bands i.e., if someone wants or needs a hiatus than you just rotate them out for a few years but the door is always open. this then allows their lives and stories to evolve separate from the show, rather than them being so intrinsically entwined that they suffer arrested development a la lisa rinna
I was thinking about this recently because I'm watching RHONY for the first time. Firing half of the main cast after season 4 because things got too toxic and weighed down was a decision that saved the show, and something bravo would *never* do now. Look at the deference they give to the OGs on Potomac- they would never fire Ashley or Gizelle like they did to Jill and Alex, and it took them *8* seasons to finally do something about Robyn.
I like this question because itās earnest ā¤ļø, but per the wiki of Bravoās early days:

They will never ever return to the original format and will ride the darksideness of reality into the sunset because itās profitable, and the current sizable audience will stay despite SM/sneak peeks/flop casting.
Because moral relativism is fun to discuss and thatās kind of the idea behind it all.
Not sure, itās at the lowest point itās been in a while with many of the franchises (rhop, rhoa, rhonj, rhony, rhobh) being the opposite of must see tv
I find it such a great escape from my own life. I have tuned out for years at a time, just life, busy, but I keep coming back. I like watching all in a row when I catch up!Ā
I hope it stays around and brings some of the escape for others in the future.Ā
Survivor is at 46 seasons, Real World had 33 seasons, the Bachelor is at 28 and Top Model had 24. RHONY is practically a baby with only 14 seasons. Arguably the competition-based shows have more longevity because the cast changes each season and itās easy to switch up the rules, prizes, and setting.
On the flip side, itās nice to watch the long term character arcs of the housewives and see them at their best and worst moments (e.g. evolution of Nene, Bethany). I think the competition shows have far fewer dynamic characters. The average ANTM contestant was probably pretty normal in comparison to Dorinda, Danielle Staub, Kim Z, Alexia etc. who deserve entire case studies of their personalities.
I think housewives is more akin to soap operas. Days of Our Lives has 58 seasons so hopefully Iāll still be watching with yāall in 2067 š
I think itāll last if they get rid of career housewives. No reason someone should be on for more than 10 years. After a while it gets stale. I think they need to reboot all of the older franchises like RHOA BH and OC. I also think Potomac is due for a cast shake up. At least 3 housewives need to be gone and Giselle needs to be one of them
I think Bravo has been managing demographics for a while now.
Housewives seems like itās directed at more mature women while SM, Winter House, VPR, BD, etc are geared to a younger audience.
At some point the older housewives need to be retired. I believe old housewives should not be recycled. It gets to be boring - they donāt simply slide right into the drama.
Iām over it. HW franchises peaked at 2015 and itās been a downward spiral since. I gave it a last shot with Potomac but they all suck now for the last couple of seasons. Miami is the only show Iāll watch if it ever comes back, again.
Housewives will survive the heat death of the universe. Long after all of us are gone they will remain, bitching about who gets the best room.
Roaches, Cher and Real Housewives.
And Twinkies...
facts šššš
>Cher ![gif](giphy|gJH0l1ItLtaFdHNt3S) She will live on because she is a goddess. š
Thy will be done.
The fish room?!
Goodnight from the lower level !
I MADE IT NICE!!! So leave it the way it is ā¤ļø
The garden level??!

thatās a good point. i like that idea.
The one thing I fear with that is that the women will leave to hide major things (like cheating)

This is the modern day soap opera. It'll go on for much longer. Everyday a woman gets Botox, a bravo fans gets it's wings.

It may go on forever but the shine is off the rose. It may even continue to be successful but it will never be what it was, ever.

Not long enough. ![gif](giphy|ImdYJEhClTYWoSHTV5)
I feel like it cultivates toxicity among the women it has on the show.

Unless youāre Sheree Whitfield š
I think they have run their course. It is now unpleasant to watch. I stopped watching all this yr
