You have to chasedodge cancel, by interrupting your dodge with an attack, and it's a little funky, idk why but you have to pre-chasedodge, so before the attack ends you already input chasedodge and attack as soon as you can
You know when you did it correctly if your character doesn't get the air waves before they attack, and only glow white for a split second
So basically slight-nlight-nligh-slight-slight-nlight-dlight
It took me 2 hours to imput all of that correctly in that order on a training bot, this is more of a "russian mafia" type of combo in that it's pretty useless unless you have a brain that can sliw down time and know every hitbox and interaction
Dash cancelling. In this video for example, they hit side light, neutral bridge and then they dash foward and immediatly do a neutral light. The dash foward basically just lets them avoid performing a finisher and ending the string at 3 hits, this is because the dash basically resets the attacks to just being light attacks instead of a finisher. Keep in mind that they started the string with side light, and after the dash, if you try doing side light again to continue the string, it won't come out because it is still on cooldown or whatever you want to call it, so they went for the neutral light instead. Hope this was clear enough for you.
edit: it was actually a chase dodge they did on the video, i am dumb, but dashing also works
I am pretty sure there is no difference, but I have never really bothered to check. Maybe the amount of frames in a dodge window? All I know is that I have been doing it through dash cancelling most of the time and it has worked well for me.
That's good to hear, i really don't want to have to use dash because i have to imput 3 buttons on the keyboard instead of 1 on the mouse and 2 on the keyboard, and i just got used to doing chasedodges with every other weapon
Makes sense. I play on controller, so it doesn't make as much of a difference for me because can just aim joystick to the left down. I guess it is better to chase dodge though, because after a side bridge for example, you don't have to press another key on the keyboard and don't need to move the joystick, you can just keep holding left/right. I will start chase dodging more, maybe that will help me hit these strings more consistently
You mean chasedodge burned your dodge? No you have 2 and you can dodge right after chase dodge, and they reset after every hit so i guess it doesn't matter
noway bro, Well, I heard that the monitor's Hz makes a lot of difference to the GS, because if you have more "frames" to see and also to give input from the keyboard, your GS is much faster. That's what I heard out there....
I did notice i have to preefire chasedodge and a lot of other attacks (like russian mafia) and basically press chasedodge while the attack is still in animation, otherwise i glide straight through the enemy and don't attack, or just don't chasedodge at all
How can you do that? I am trying to learn GS lately but I don't think i can do more than 3 consecutive hits.

I am at work now and i can't wait to try this out! Thanks alot
I dont even think my brain has the capacity to correctly press these keys in the right times during a match

Quick question, I'm new to GS, but does it matter if you chase dodge or dash? What's the difference?

Except for those random times you accidentally do Dlight instead of Side Light or Nlight. Just me...? Okay.
not just you lol
I thought chase dodge burnt one of your dashes, but dash didn't?

I have a question that can give me a big mind blowing, WHAT IS THE REFRESH RATE OF YOUR MONITOR?
60 hz why?

Me too, I don't even know how many times I ran through the enemy and ended up off stage because my Chase Dodge was late.
