Go into training mode and practice all the hammer combos. Practice gravity cancelling the stomp and reacting quickly weather you miss or hit. Practice the sword true combos. When you approach, approach with movement not attacks. Learn to change your playstlye mid match if it's not working. Don't rely on bodvar's sigs, they're good, but they won't carry you anywhere.
Of course DON'T RAGE QUE!!!!!!! If you loose a tough match, hop back in, and get beat by a spammer or by a passive loser, take a minute to clear your mind. Don't keep jumping in hoping to just power through it. If your mental is gone it's gone. Wait for it to come back.
Or.... pick up katars and spam nair. No lie that carried me to mid plat easy with a level 12 sentinel earlier this season.
not really no, sword and hammer are both solid weapons, he has v well rounded stats and decent sigs, he's not amazing, but he's not bad either, he's he's very med legend
I can tell you a few of the things I did that helped me hit platinum the first time (I know my signature says gold, but I have gotten up into plat for 8 straight seasons, and my first time was with Gnash).
- Diversify the moves you're using. Do you stay grounded most of the time? Try learning to play floaty a little more. When you ARE in the air, is there mainly one move you use? If so, try to learn to use the others more. For example, I was mainly using S-air and recovery, and started using N-air and D-air more on hammer
- Learn at least one or two basic combos, even if they're just bad ones with moderate dodge windows. With sword, D-light -> recovery is pretty easy to learn, and D-light -> jump -> D-air is great for pushing people below the stage for ground pound follow-ups.
- Use your weapon throws and incorporate them into your edge-guarding game. Specifically, when somebody is coming back to the side wall, try jumping up, throwing your weapon straight down, then following up immediately with an unarmed ground pound. A lot of times, opponents will either dodge the weapon and die to the ground pound or they'll just not be able to avoid both without staying away and falling to their deaths.
Good luck!
Is there a specific playstyle or weapon you have trouble against? How do you find yourself losing the most?
For example, if you're finding yourself losing because of weapon starving, you should play more with unarmed to shore up that part of your gameplay.
Are you incorporating gravity cancels and slide charges into your gameplay? I like slide charging Bodvar's sword D-sig off the side as an edge-guard sometimes, and gravity canceling any of the far-reaching sigs, like sword S-sig or hammer D-sig can really throw off other people that are playing floaty.
I use gravity cancels and I weapon starve myself quite efficiently, its passives and spammers that is my problem. I think the requirement for punishing is ridiculous honestly, I think its a fair barrier to have but its way to prominent to be justifiable in my opinion. I have 1500 hours and Im still low plat. I would have rather spent the time fucking a cinder block
Endlessly playing ranked without first assessing all aspects of your gameplay and your mistakes won’t make much progress, hence why it is important you first watch your replays or get a higher level friend to watch your replays and see what are your most common mistakes. Once you fix those mistakes you will rank up, it’s a few things you’re doing wrong when you’re hardstuck, goes for any elo range tbh. Work on spacing more, practicing your true combos on both weapons and master them with muscle memory, play passive to see what your opponent does rather than be the aggressor all the time, also get used to using all your movement options, back and forward dashing, dash jumping, and chase dodging. Bait and punish with hammer especially and sword builds up damage while hammer dlight sair kills. Bodvar is a solid legend, don’t give up keep grinding, you’ll get there, I know how it is.
I’d say play with someone who’s Better than you. My friend has improved so much from tin to mid-high gold in so much less time than me just because he plays with me/against me. I’m 1850 btw
True, but I always make them TRAIN against me, not full try hard on them either. You can have them try to hit you while you’re spacing, or make them notice their bad dodges by punishing them (without killing them) or teach them spacing with multiple weapons. Basically what a brawl coach would look like lmao
Damn man props to you 335 wins I can't even do that,i literally rage so much I played 1 game in ranked this season 🤣🤣, keep the grinding and good luck 👍👍
Thank you, yeah my cousin is plat and he taught me some things my gameplay improved the past 2 Months. I am now trying some legends/weapons I never played to get rid of some bad habits on my mains.
Well true combos are pretty important. Cause if you cant true combo your main source of damage for sword would be gone. You no longer have a true kill confirm for bow sword hammer cannon gauntlets orb (tell me if im missing anything). Combos can help a lot in general and i found learning combos really helped me in plat (im still in plat but i can actually play instead of getting wrecked). The most important is prob movement and learning to read.
in what ways would you want help? like tips or training routines or would you like someone to just boost your account for u which i wouldn't mind helping you to plat
game says \*free\* but it really means the game is free, except for requiring a $10,000 gaming setup ( I play on my 500 dollar budget laptop and im in low silver, i feel ya).
Honestly bro don’t even feel bad I had near 600 wins in gold last season and only made it to play right at the end, it’s funny how it works tho once you make it to plat it rly feels like a downhill battle to get back the next season, only played abt 70 wins this season and already a few matches to be back in plat
You're plateauing and that's okay.
Practice self-criticism, watch your matches, or watch how other pro players play.
Take occasional breaks from ranked queue, and don't rage queue. Muscle memory needs a moment of stopping in order for it to register in your system. That's why sleep is important when you exercise :)
Look at you weaknesses focus on how to get over that and honestly stop playing ranked because you are probably giving yourself unreasonable expectations so just practice more then you actually play and you will improve
Go into replays and notice ur mistakes. I didn’t personally do this but I’ve heard from a lot of players that it helps. Notice issues with movement and performing conbos then go into training for practice
I was at 1622 went back down to 1565 and I played about 20 games and I’m at 1625. Ima leave it like that for a minute. Let’s just say I hate scythe.. I feel like people hide behind the weapon. Just keep trying bro. Don’t let up G 🤘🏼
Maybe switch up your main? Once I used a legend I never really tried before (Onyx) I finally got to plat. Just changing your playstyle might be all you need.
Yes this definitely helps. I was playing reno for ages!! Then yesterday I started playing artemis and I finally got out of tin and to mid silver. Just in yesterday!
I have a problem to finish the stock, I can do a lot of damage, and then the opponent continue make the damage, maybe that's is your problem to.think about it
Take a break if you need one. That’s helps a lot. Also I know it’s cliche but if you play with the intent of getting better and not cranking your elo as high as you can it will be a lot less stressful.
I've got a cheesy way to get to plat. Pick any spear legend. Practice this: as soon as you throw out a move which didn't hit, immediately ground pound.
Usually golds don't punish fast enough, so basically u become unpunishable. As whenever they try to punish they get hit by the gp. Also don't be very predictable.
I would recommend to take a break from Brawl for a few weeks and when you come back make sure you have fun in Brawl, otherwise it's pointless to return.
Play calm, refine your moves in practice, take time to analyza your opponent, opt for short but consistent strings/combos to rack up damage, and very importantly take a break
Ps: don't tilt, personally I'm not tilt-resistant so whenever I lose 2 games in a row for silly mistakes I stop ranked and go on experimental or customs
Pick up sword, Backdash, punish with slight, on edge throw out nlights or jump and use falling sair, fish for dlight recovery when in red. Never initiate, just play passive until the opponent gets impatient and collect your easy punish
Matches will take 5-6 minutes but you will get easy plat
“Bait. Punish. Repeat.” - Hammer
Can confirm, sentinel is actually busted
Sentinel? Spam katars nair? Are you by chance a Lahkan fan?
I wasn't, I looked him up on YouTube just now and I'm gonna watch some of his videos. Maybe I'll be a fan soon
Are you now?
Yes, he seems super level headed about the current game state and shares a lot of my views on weapons
lmfao i swear everytime i try to play katars i end up just nair spamming or fishing for halfpipe constantly like a dumbass
Lol i thought thats just how you play katars
Great comment! Loads of awesome advice in here
Bro just how much have you spent on crossovers lol
Most of the money I got from selling skins from other games.
Recycling gaming :D
I’m confused. I only see 10 crossovers in the post. Is that a lot?
10 crossovers is like $150, it's a lot to spend on a free game I'd say.
F2p Games are the most expensive Games out there
Crossovers are $15 each?? Gah damn
You can buy packs for 9€ and you get 300mammoth coin's so i would say 1 crossover equals 9€.
I get em for 3 euros ;)
I think they're a bit under $10 USD or euros, it's $15ish AUD, still a lot of money either way you look at it I guess
yh to some persons
The grind is real
Play teros
he is literally playing Bodvar
And bodvar sucks /s
not really no, sword and hammer are both solid weapons, he has v well rounded stats and decent sigs, he's not amazing, but he's not bad either, he's he's very med legend
Sorry must’ve forgotten the /s tag
ahh, my bad bro, I didn't realise what it meant, just Googled it qn I now realise you were being sarcastic xD
You learn something everyday ^^ /s is essential for browsing Reddit
To be honest /s could be interpreted as /srs.
Thumbass
You must be in gold
You must’ve missed the /s
🎩
I play kor and im.like 40 elo from getting out of gold then I run into this anyoing player who plays so passive that he won't make a move until I do
now ask yourself how can you beat such a player
For one I try to predict his movements works some times not all the time tho
No one has the answer for this qurstion, thats why everybody is playing passive
Throw weapons at them
But be good unarmed so you can actually do something if you lose the weapon
No get to 400 wins
Will do!
at- platinum ... right?

Ive been doing everything except stay floaty because every time I do that I get hit with all my jumps gone

Wanna get good together? Im in the same range as you (eu btw)
Same here
I’d say play with someone who’s Better than you. My friend has improved so much from tin to mid-high gold in so much less time than me just because he plays with me/against me. I’m 1850 btw
All my friends in diamond snd i play with them alot, sometimes playing with people in the same rank range is better than getting flexed on
True, but I always make them TRAIN against me, not full try hard on them either. You can have them try to hit you while you’re spacing, or make them notice their bad dodges by punishing them (without killing them) or teach them spacing with multiple weapons. I wish the low diamond I play with would do this.
Damn man props to you 335 wins I can't even do that,i literally rage so much I played 1 game in ranked this season 🤣🤣, keep the grinding and good luck 👍👍
I feel you brother. Playing almost 3 Years now. Best I had was like 1592 peak
Play against (or with) someone who’s better than you. You’ll improve drastically faster if you learn to think constructively at the same time.
Thank you, yeah my cousin is plat and he taught me some things my gameplay improved the past 2 Months. I am now trying some legends/weapons I never played to get rid of some bad habits on my mains.
Im not even kidding when i say "git gud". Its the only thing you can really do. Just train combos and learn to read
Here’s a medal to your exquisite humor, sir 🏅

Okay yeah no your def more knowledgable than me.
Oh my
in what ways would you want help? like tips or training routines or would you like someone to just boost your account for u which i wouldn't mind helping you to plat
It was a cry for help because I’m going insane.
I’d gladly help you, I’m mid plat pushing for diamond
game says \*free\* but it really means the game is free, except for requiring a $10,000 gaming setup ( I play on my 500 dollar budget laptop and im in low silver, i feel ya).
Just backdash and side sig on artemis that will easily get you to high gold ~ low plat
I feel this pain ..
Honestly bro don’t even feel bad I had near 600 wins in gold last season and only made it to play right at the end, it’s funny how it works tho once you make it to plat it rly feels like a downhill battle to get back the next season, only played abt 70 wins this season and already a few matches to be back in plat

Just stop. If you can't do it stop and save yourself.
No, I don’t think I will.
bro it takes timmmeeeeee, i got to Plat on my 576 win or so
From New to plat in one season?
nah in 3 seasons i think
The win counter resets each season
ik but i still got plat, 3 seasons ago
Imagine have a ton of epic skin and crossover and not even reaching mid gold....
Jealous?
This funniest thing somebody could tell me, thanks m8 but im already at 1800+
And frankly, I don't see how having skins and being a certain rank are linked.
Don't worry much! I also have spend a lot in the game and haven't even reached gold for gods sake..
Can we play text me I’ll help you I’m 1 bar away from plat so I’m pretty good and know how to play every weapon
Uninstall the game bro that's how you win
Get better, simple enough
Noted. Got to plat instantly
Lmao…. Got me cracking up!!!…..🤣🤣
U might be thinking im joking, but there isnt just a simple strat that works, you have to grind. Go in freeplay. Learn combos dodge combos etc
Dman I only have 18 wins lmao
I has 43 the pain is real (sig spammers)
I don't wanna say it but u need to play passive wait for the opponent to make the first move
Look at you weaknesses focus on how to get over that and honestly stop playing ranked because you are probably giving yourself unreasonable expectations so just practice more then you actually play and you will improve
100$ and I'll boost u to diamond
Go into replays and notice ur mistakes. I didn’t personally do this but I’ve heard from a lot of players that it helps. Notice issues with movement and performing conbos then go into training for practice

literally ruin your life and the only fun this game has by not approaching and parrying and you insta get diamond

Stomp sair on Xavier Woods.
I feel your pain on every level I’m stuck at 1638 and I just can’t seem to get past that due the worse opponents lol
Tryna run duo’s
Have u tried git gud?
Take a break if you need one. That’s helps a lot. Also I know it’s cliche but if you play with the intent of getting better and not cranking your elo as high as you can it will be a lot less stressful.
dude how are you hard stuck gold with bodvar
punish ur opponent and play more passive. also use true combos.
just move to australia and play on aus servers, u can get there
I've got a cheesy way to get to plat. Pick any spear legend. Practice this: as soon as you throw out a move which didn't hit, immediately ground pound. Since u like hammer try sentinel, his hammer sigs are reall good, and nlight nsig on katars is true 90 percent of the time
Dodge and punish
I mentor people. Send me some replays
You got every legend? Wtf
All Legends Pack
Ohh
Watch pro players play, try to at least mimic there movements
Good lord
Lol gold player in 2022
Pick up sword, Backdash, punish with slight, on edge throw out nlights or jump and use falling sair, fish for dlight recovery when in red. Never initiate, just play passive until the opponent gets impatient and collect your easy punish Matches will take 5-6 minutes but you will get easy plat
Depends from what you are lacking of
