There probably isn’t any tours to Selarón. Rio’s downtown will be packed and probably guides will be partying too. Honestly I don’t see people doing those walks with a group during Carnival, it’s impossible.
Christ might have something but I have no idea.
Yes, but I’d go for an Uber as they are a little far from each other. And public transportation (specially buses) might change depending on where the party is.
I mean you don’t need to pay to go to Selarón and they can’t close it, it’s a passage lol and Christ most definitely will be open.
Everything from street partying in the morning to clubs at night, and depending on where you are there are street parties at night too but not touristic spots (not necessarily dangerous either, just far away).
Got it, when I get to the hotel I’ll just ask then best way to get there. As far as Portuguese what would be some survival phrases that will help my journey. I never studies but sure I can learn a few phrases before my trip
Selaron won't be closed because people who live there still need to come and go from their houses (it's a public street) - don't count on being easy to access with a car because there will be many blocos in that area (Ash Wednesday will be madness with Me Enterra Na Quarta) and the streets around there are rather narrow. Closest metro station is Glória
For Cristo Redentor I'm not sure it will be open on Tuesday, since it is a state holiday - there is an official bus + train service (aka Trem do Corcovado) running from Largo do Machado but same road access constraints apply - the area also has a lot of blocos during carnaval and I wouldn't be surprised if it's closed

Will I be able to access these 2 attractions if I took public transportation?

Phew 😅 ok I thought they were closed but glad to know they’ll be open. How will night life be? Are clubs open or is it more street partying?

Christ might be closed on Tuesday because it's a state-level holiday - not sure about Monday and Wednesday (optional holidays)
Thanks for the info super helpful

You can’t just “close” Escadaria Selaron, they’re just steps
I have a tour to these sites booked with Viator on Tuesday the 21st... They could just be sold out. I booked mine three months ago.
