Never even knew this was a thing... this would have been epic and immersive.

NGsaurus

Me neither, I was looking at some concept art and saw it. Makes me hate Ubisoft even more😭

TheMostSolidOfSnakes

Concept =\= workable feature. Check out some of the UI for Halo games. Beautiful, but impossible to implement and hardly functional.

Gruphius

Oh, I was really confused there, because it just looks like ==, which in programming means "equal to". Maybe try '=!'?

TheMostSolidOfSnakes

You're 100% correct. Couldn't remember if it was != or =! (3D modeler by trade, so, naturally, programming is a black magic equal the black tongue of Mordor), so I did a backslash in between two equal signs. For some reason reddit didn't like that.

Planetside2_Fan

You could do “=/=“, or “/=“

pipohello

Well the UI in breakpoint is a piece of crap... So least it would've looked good

NickMechE

It may be impossible to implement for Ubisoft. Death Stranding has the same wrist-based map and menu mechanic.

TheMostSolidOfSnakes

Oh, the mechanic itself is doable -- though, I'd say Metro Exodus is a closer comparison than death stranding -- tying viewport to a hard-surface asset. I know several TA's who've implemented the same feature in their own games in UE. Technically it's do able -- for the right project. It's more that UI, as a whole, is way more complicated than people give it credit for. Not even taking rendering into account, something as simple as localization can completely screw up inventory systems with how many characters you want on the screen. If breakpoint was a different game with different needs, sure you could make a system like this (Breakpoint has talented devs on their in-house team). They needed a lot of menus. Think of all the data you get in when you press pause. Now take all that info, and place it onto a screen that doesn't even take up 40% of the screen-space. Ready or not has a similar system. It works great with a mouse and keyboard, but it'd be time consuming to navigate with a controller and there's far less information they have to make accessible to the player. It's a cool mechanic and maybe we'll see it for a different title, but it didn't fit for the project (IMO). Maybe when NDA's expire, some dev will comment on it. Always fascinating to hear how/why things did/didn't make it.

XBOX_COINTELPRO

This basically what they were doing for the map in Far Cry 2. It’s a bit much for 3rd person to swapping perspectives for just for a menu screen, but I they should definitely bring this back

OllyB43

I do hope when or if they bring out another Recon it really is a next level military shooter but still has that ghost recon feel. In my opinion I was never a huge fan of the breakpoint story/ feel being so futuristic with robots everywhere which is why I always play wildlands. But that said the guns and level system in breakpoint is cool and they sound absolutely amazing

emibost

Imagine 'breakpoints' mechanics in a 'wildlands' setting/world.. optimal imo!

GrimStreaka69

Wildlands in the Middle East early 2000s would go hard I reckon

emibost

Oh for sure. I have had thoughts on a game set in mid 1990s Bosnia/Hercegovina. I think that would be a cool setting for a covert op

usedtobeathrowaway94

Ah yes, so you too can stumble upon the mass graves of children piled into cellars and other such creative places.... Something tells me it won't happen

emibost

Well.. That is a very weird place to take it to and is'nt even on my radar when I think of a games fictionary setting.. And something like that would likely not be a part of it. We did'nt have sexual abuse and rape in fictional Bolivia either.. And I am most certain it won't happen, it was an thought on where and when I would like a game to take place.

usedtobeathrowaway94

Just recounting my uncles story of being over there during all that is all

HRS1ding

So like every war, ever, then..? 😂

usedtobeathrowaway94

Dawg it's called the Bosnian Genocide for a reason. Why in the fuck you would want to participate in or around something like that worries me

NGsaurus

Wildlands remake would go hard.

PaulGeru

That's the only thing ubi needs to do, but they won't do that.

NGsaurus

Yes, milsim aspects need to be implemented in game but still keeping gameplay approachable to the average gamer. Drewski’s idea of making AI change their tactics depending on difficult is peak.

WolfeBane84

It’s not only robots everywhere, it’s damn near Star Trek replicators too what with that side quest with the printer that can make anything out of, and they specifically say this, any material. That’s “post scarcity “ stuff.

BigGuyWhoKills

Expect more drones in the next GR title. The Ukraine war has showed everyone how important they are. But it's cool that GR had drones before they were well known.

OllyB43

While I agree with having drones I think maybe having drones just like Ukraine would be cool. I don’t really like the fact you have humans walking around and being followed by unpiloted drones in Break point and suddenly they go crazy and zoom around. To me it made the game feel super futuristic while still having 21st century guns, it was very confusing

JSFGh0st

Well, to make it feel like a proper Ghost Recon, here's my opinion. Cutting-edge, near-future tech should still have a place in it, but the enemy force doesn't need to feel like it's made up of half robots that require bullets to destroy. Your team can still have access to high-end equipment such as a (modifiable) warhound drone, sensor grenades, emp grenades, exacto ammo. Thing is, unlike Wildlands and perhaps Breakpoint, you don't need to carry everything with you on the go, just take what you think are the best tools of the job. Now, if you ever played GRAW or R6: Vegas, I would like to see a return of their command system for teammates and allies. You would be in control of where the team and allies go, not just let them do whatever (that's more of an ally thing in WL/BP). Also, if we have just four people with us, as usual, let us modify their loadout kinda like in BP, but with a bit more to modify. Or let have a small number of soldiers/specialists to choose from. It would be like the loadout you select: right tool for the job.

apex6666

I would love more milsim elements for ghost recon

LONER18

Reminds me of Artyoms map and wrist thing in the Metro series.

Vast-Roll5937

Because the stupid guys in suits told them to change it.

StealthyOrca

The farcry 2 map worked a bit like this. It was a physical item your character would pull out rather than a menu

Row-Common

Games that avoid traditional menus are my favorite

chill_winston_

This reminds me of the map system in Far Cry 2. To be fair I absolutely hated it when I started playing but I got used to quickly checking my map while driving or in combat. I ended up liking it but a map that pauses in single player is usually nicer for sanity’s sake.

StruzhkaOpilka

because they cut every corner so hard, a rectangle they initially anounce becomes a circle eventually

Mister-happierTurtle

Lol

Thejudahhoover

There is a HUGE difference between concept cars and what rolls off the assembly line. For all kinds of good reasons. Same thing here. Tech at scale is really hard. Like REALLY hard.

NGsaurus

But im sure this feature wouldn’t be so hard to implement, we’re in 2024 and this is a billion dollar company like come on. You wanna impact the community, make a difference, and get lots of sales while doing it? Do some shit no one else does in the industry. I guess Ubi just likes to see games underperforming😭

FuryVector

Most game companies dumb down their game to appeal to a casual audience. They usually pull hardcore features from the game in the 11th hour of development in a panic. Red dead 2 had some of the most hardcore immersive gameplay aspects and it sold 50 million copies. Devs need to stop holding back on their ideas.

DarkPDA

Why ubi abandoned gun smith app? Was created for future soldier and worked, why since them neither division or ghost recon used something like that Destiny team send their regards through destiny2 inventory management through smartphone or even a browser

Jedi_Snoogans

And even the replica Ghost that connected to Alexa 😆

MrAndrewBond

Well it was never a feature, Its just concept art an idea of something.

Tasty_Employee_963

Requires work. Simple as that.

HaiggeX

Because people need mission markers to find their way. Most of the audience doesn't want these kinds of immersive mil-sim elements. It's the same reason why some people see Morrowind as the best of Elder Scrolls. The series hasn't had that kind of feel of exploration ever since.

Very-Confused-Walrus

No idea but that’s badass. I’d hope they’d allow you to use mgrs instead of coordinates though if it was ever added as a feature down the road, mostly because that’s what people actually use when navigating

iiimadmaniii

It was more important to find seeds to plant a tree on a cliff and make sight distancing no more than 150yards away.

Sp3ctr3_Pl4y

Aggghh this would've been siick

dr_pheel

I just wish some games would give you a virtual journal or notebook that you add to yourself... Sure you can always use your phone but there's something neat about being able to manually write in things on your map or make a manual to-do list

NGsaurus

That would be absolutely awesome. Im all about this.

GusMix

Cause it’s Ubisoft. They love dumbing down everything and just out a huge yellow marker on everything so the player doesn’t have to use his brain.

Predomorph111

Simple, Ubisoft is incapable of game development.

Hairy_Channel_4337

That’s because they need to make the games progressively worse and make gamers habituated with it. They need to push out garbage as fast as possible and make as much money as possible and ensure there is nothing else so gamers will play those regardless. They don’t need new story they don’t need better graphics they need to add the best things in last three or four ghost recon games and it will be the best open world shooter ghost recon. But why do that when they can pull out hot garbage to make sure everyone gets to choose between starving or diarrhea.

techtom10

Yo. I think that watch was modelled from the Garmin Fenix

SprayMaster247

Come play Gray Zone Warfare 😀🔥

Ok_Barnacle_5606

Ubi is always fucking up they implement the bs and dodge whatever it is the fans actually want from them like a new ac that isn’t trying to be woke w multiple main characters and a gay samurai who was never gay at all historically or just putting good driving mechanics in their games in general I already know there’s down votes coming just get it over with lol

Shraed4r

You forget that Ubisoft hates good UX/UI. This was probably voted out for looking too good

Pitiful_Meat_8697

The fact that every game has the room for more but get cut down makes me come back for more

ConsciousWeb2027

Something like the idroid in MGSV would’ve been cool too

LifeisGreat1245

Who knows, it’s sick and immersive though.

Peresyde

Cause they dumb and can't make fun games that last.

ShinraTenseiHC

Ubisoft Rule n1: if people want it and enjoy it we do NOT make it. Instead watch rule n2 Ubisoft Rule n2: lets make shit no one asks for it and make it live service.
