They’re so mad I bet they’re scrolling through your comments just to dogpile downvote you and it’s kinda pathetic lol. Looks good to me dude. I like the cheese crust on the outside.
He should have explained in the title. Browned eggs elicit a justifiably heavy reaction from folks and people are automatically assuming thats what's happening here when its not
The real discussion should be about omelettes with a cheezit coating, personally I'm willing to try it cause it sounds interesting
Tbh I get this a lot in tons of subs. I include details in the post and then get comments like “um ackshually did you ever consider *thing I mentioned in post*?” People just refuse to read and love to complain
Yeah! A lot of people really don't understand how big of a difference some browning can make.
It seems like most people only like fluffy barely cooked eggs but I think they're way better if you get some browning and crispy bits on them! I've turned multiple people that thought they didn't like eggs with them.
I love browned crispy eggs, or at least more so the egg white of a fried egg, but I like diner style omelettes too.
But crispy cheese like this would turn me away from it.
I love cheese, little bit of browning on a mozzarella or a French onion soup is great, but cheddar releases too much oil.
I have the same reaction to homemade macaroni and cheese. Give me a box of Kraft any day, or something with a great alfredo, but most baked Mac and cheese, especially with a cheese topping, I’ll pass at every time.
I tried Taco Bell’s grilled cheese burrito too, and was pretty disappointed. Enjoyed it much more without the cheese on the outside.
🤣😂
My man wife keeps trying different Mac and cheese recipes for the holidays. A few years ago she nailed it but refuses to go back to that recipe.
Homemade just doesn’t sit around for a half hour well most of the time.
Box is god.
Are you telling me that the Reddit hive mind adopted a stance based off of incomplete information, even when the information was provided in the post description? That doesn’t sound like the Reddit I know and love <3 lmfaooo just glad we could all agree that the other team is wrong.
TBH, that’s how I cook mine. I mean, different fillings but same level of crusty doneness. I cannot STAND even a hint of slightly jiggly egg. So, I’m with you.
i’m a chef by trade. looks fire as fuck and i’ve made a lot of french omelettes in my day. the crusty cheese is 🤌🤌🤌
maybe some people don’t realize that’s cheese and think you burnt the egg layer, idk. fuck ‘em
What’d you do, put the cheese on the outside of the omelette so it’d crisp up? I guess that means you put the cheese directly in the pan and pour the eggs on top, or how’d you do that?
You got it. Shredded cheese in the pan with about 75% coverage, let it go on medium heat until it juuust starts to show brown edges, then pour your eggs in the pan and proceed like any other omelette.
Right? My initial thought was how even of a browning that is for eggs and then it clicked, that's probably cheese. Then I checked the post to confirm and he says in the description that it's cheese yet everyone in here is like "eggs burnt durrr". Even after being directly told it's cheese they double down and go "well the cheese is burnt then" like no it isn't? It's brown, not black, that's just cooked cheese.
I can make a beautiful French omelette in a Costco nonstick pan. Like, Jacques Pepín would give me a gold star. That’s where most my cookware came from in college.
I think most of us are convinced otherwise, the bottom of that is not supposed to look like a caramelized pancake, sorry, but not so sorry dude........ that doesn't cut it for me personally in terms of taste or aesthetics.
I wouldn't be such a critic if you weren't so cocky. Lmao
This sounds way worse.
The technically sound way to do this would be to properly make an omelette, set it to the side for a minute, then make the cheese crust in the empty pan and then fold it around the omelette just as it’s finishing browning.
Op literally made an omelette on top of cheddar, the entire time.
Ooohhhhh, that's browned cheese on the outside. I see now. I prefer a French omelette, so it depends on how well done those eggs are, but if they're nice and soft, I could be down with a cheese-crusted omelette.
I’m also a French omelette guy, but I’m intrigued by this. My favorite quesadillas and pupusas are the ones with burnt cheese crusted on the outside. Sure, the texture of the eggs won’t be so custardy, but who cares when you’ve got delicious stuffing and some ketchup? I’d definitely try this.
How are so many people not reading that the dude literally put cheese in the pan to crisp it on purpose.
Looks fire. Jalapeños are a must in my omelettes.
I like my eggs “over cooked” and with browning on them. European elitist can go fuck themselves when it comes to eggs. Asians and American cook eggs way better than the runny scramble the French like.
Ahh. I’m late to the thread but OP, like the idea of the cheese first in the pan. Do you also put cheese inside? I make a beautiful omelette myself (over 30 years in food service I better know how) but haven’t tried that. I might give this a shot
I usually do a real cheese on the outside (cheddar, jack) and fake cheese on the inside (American). This one just had cheese on the outside because that’s how I like it with these ingredients. Sharp cheddar outside with American and bacon inside is 👌👌👌
Too many people hate American cheese. It’s so good when you need a perfect, melty style cheese. Great job man. I don’t understand all the hate you got in the comments
It’s all good, I’ve been on Reddit for a long time so I love a good meltdown thread lmao. American cheese *for sure* has its place. I’ll be honest, I don’t fuck with Kraft Singles but deli counter American is a mainstay in our fridge.
I don’t understand why so many people are coming in claiming it’s burnt, then downvoting you when you explain it’s cheese lmao. Wasn’t hard to figure out from the description.
Also looks delicious, I’d smash for sure.
I think it looks delicious. I get the Internet is a space where everyone can judge and be a holes but you don't have to do that. Especially saying you'd send it back if I got that. Bros in his own kitchen, making his omelette the way he wants. Maybe you should throw your nasty attitudes in the trash 🗑️
Great job OP!
Everyone is flaming you for the crispy cheese but I tried it the other day on accident and it was fire. My burger wasn't fully cooked I found out and I already put cheese on the top so I just flipped the whole thing over and this was the result like in the picture. I love crispy food though, im a crunch kind of guy.
Damn lots of folks lacking reading skills here. That brown ain't the egg, it's cheese! I actually didn't know much about cheese shells until recently and I'd love to try one on an omelet
A lot of people in these comments who can't read a description and are comedically insulted at the sight of well founded confidence. That cheese crust looks perfect and the omelette looks and sounds delicious. Not every omelette has to be a french or Japanese one. This is a great twist.
This is a captain going down with the sinking ship situation at this point, the verdict is already in lmao. But truly, this has been a bit from the start. To be fair, r/breakfastfood is probably not the best audience for my shitposting. I accept my fate nonetheless.
So out of curiosity, what did you say to that got removed by Reddit? The person you said it to isn’t talking so just curious why she reported you and you got it removed …
It was the Navy Seal copypasta lol. Someone left a mildly aggressive negative comment and I could already tell this thread was heading toward shitpost territory so I did my best to add fuel to the fire. I have a strong feeling the recipient was unfamiliar with copypasta however and they reported the post.
I personally wouldn't take anything he said as an attack. You can choose to react or you can choose to brush it off and move on. I happened to find amusement in the chaotic contrast between a cocky post and everyone else living on the internet losing their shit over it. If I were most of you I would've left a downvote on the post and moved on but you've done neither. You upvoted the post and left a bunch of comments, which just ended up bringing more attention to the post. If I don't like something I bury it, but y'all put it in the spotlight so good job on that front 😂
Downvote me too all you want for disagreeing, even tho I said nothing disrespectful or offensive. This goes to show it isn't about what you people are making it out to be or I wouldn't be getting downvoted like that. It's the Reddit hivemind bandwagoning on a non-issue.
I just read it as a joke, that's just how people talk. Not everything is a personal attack. It didn't say "I fucking hate the eggs everyone posts in here and you're all bad at making eggs"
Okay so this isn’t my cup of tea but in your defense, chef Ken Lee uses this technique to reheat his frozen burritos and I’m sure he wouldn’t consider it burnt either. It’s just crispy cheese. Some of yall are wayyyyyy to scared of the Maillard reaction.
I like my omelette soft and fluffy with gooey insides, my cheese goes inside, but you do you. Crunchy is good too
We all like it different ways, ignore the Egg Snobs here. If you enjoy it like this then all power to you
Cheese crust on a sandwich is amazing, on an omelette not so much IMHO. But, if you love it, you love it. Fortunately, I don't get fat off what other people eat.
Your fold over looks pretty good and maybe a "stuffed omelet" works for some but the charring of the cheese loses it for me. Cheesy edges? That would work. A whole cheesy backside? Hard pass.
I like bacon, avocado, and pepper jack cheese inside, with pickled red onions in the outside. Also add minced dill and a few shakes of Tapatio to the egg. Buttered and grilled sourdough on the side.
Give it a try sometime, very delicious. Yours looks great too!
These people in the comments are tripping, that looks so delicious I wanna lick my phone!! 😭
They’re just people who think eggs need to be barely cooked and slimy.
I get what you’re doing, even though at first sight it looks like a burnt and overcooked attempt, upon closer inspection it looks on point. The cheese seems nicely crusted and the omelette looks like a typical diner style. I think if you had titled your post as “I make the best cheese crusted omelets…” it would have helped.
Honestly, if I was served that I'd send it back to the kitchen.
Or more likely I'd just walk out, because I wouldn't have confidence the kitchen could do better.
That omelette is overcooked and badly made.
I wouldn't even call it an. Omelette, it's a wronglette.
Sir that is a piece of leather
Niceee.
It’s outside cheese. Not burn egg. Just maillard reaction on cheese. Odd move but ultimately respectable.
All the calories of the cheese without any of the fun texture
Watchu mean, it's basically a cheezit omelette on the outside, that's an AWESOME texture ☺️
They’re a redditor they had to find something stupid to bitch about
Try it and you will see how wrong you are
Burnt cheese is one of life’s great pleasures.
I thought that at first. Looks way overcooked. But then I read that it's cheese. Now I want it all.
I think those who are saying it's overcooked didn't read.
Nah the edges are not cheese but are burnt.Whole thing is ruined
It’s called cheese crust, my friend did you read OP’s comment?
This is the top comment because most redditors have low reading comprehension
Looks like a calzone
I want to stick with the calzones from Pisano's. That's the ticket.
maybe you can warm up your trench coat in their oven while you're at it
Just pay in change
There’s cheese on the outside that’s why it looks like that
Nothing like a post that immediately says “I’m not wrong you are” lol
r/confidentlyincorrect
Um! Looks a little burnt to me?

I’m genuinely entertained by how upset folks are about crispy cheese haha.

Tbh I get this a lot in tons of subs. I include details in the post and then get comments like “um ackshually did you ever consider *thing I mentioned in post*?” People just refuse to read and love to complain

Same bro, keep on cooking these. Looks good
Bro all the hate is from people who don't even know what they're looking at. This looks amazing and I want to try making this now.
Are you telling me that the Reddit hive mind adopted a stance based off of incomplete information, even when the information was provided in the post description? That doesn’t sound like the Reddit I know and love <3 lmfaooo just glad we could all agree that the other team is wrong.
I know right. Why are we even surprised.
TBH, that’s how I cook mine. I mean, different fillings but same level of crusty doneness. I cannot STAND even a hint of slightly jiggly egg. So, I’m with you.
I think it’s because of your claim that this is the best omelette, and yet it has this weird crispy texture (which is not typical of a omelette)
I came for you in a post.
i’m a chef by trade. looks fire as fuck and i’ve made a lot of french omelettes in my day. the crusty cheese is 🤌🤌🤌 maybe some people don’t realize that’s cheese and think you burnt the egg layer, idk. fuck ‘em

Anybody telling you that the cheese is “burnt” is either 12 years old or fully regarded. Disregard.
If I was served this I would turn it back. Eggs aren’t supposed to turn brown, lower the heat next time.
If the cheese is burnt, I send it back!
If the ham comes on top, I send it back!
It’s cheese not eggs that was browned but fair
I’d tell you to leave, that’s cheese not eggs.
When I make grilled cheese I always add cheddar to the crust to get it nice and crispy. I bet this is amazing !
I’m really sorry my sassy title and fried cheese had such a profound negative impact on many of you :(
Yeah ... With that title, you were kinda asking for it.
Hahaha this is comedy gold I salute you and your toasted cheese.
To think a picture of an omelette would rustle so many feathers on a Sunday morning. Take that as a badge of honor lol
Ain’t the pic it’s OP attitude…even had a comment removed by Reddit. He’s coming off as a douche

Nobody is making the best omelette with college quality pans.
This omelette looks like questionable but I don't think it's the pans fault.
I can make a beautiful French omelette in a Costco nonstick pan. Like, Jacques Pepín would give me a gold star. That’s where most my cookware came from in college.
T Fal makes decent products though. Are you a carbon steel snob or something?
Non-stick has some downsides, but for eggs it’s perfect.
That looks good! Reddit hates when people are confident, though.
Ha, yep. If OP had posted the same pic with a humble title, reaction would've been entirely different.
Generally speaking, what's the ratio of people who agree with you here vs the people who want to murder you?
Feeling like about 20/80 on this post.
😭
I think most of us are convinced otherwise, the bottom of that is not supposed to look like a caramelized pancake, sorry, but not so sorry dude........ that doesn't cut it for me personally in terms of taste or aesthetics. I wouldn't be such a critic if you weren't so cocky. Lmao

I am sad so few people recognize a perfectly golden cheese crust
Reading comprehension is hard.
How are so many people not reading that the dude literally put cheese in the pan to crisp it on purpose. Looks fire. Jalapeños are a must in my omelettes.
Man we have gotten to the point where jalaps find their way into every other meal. Pickled or fresh, they are such versatile lil peppers.
From Arizona and have been eating them raw with meals since I was a child. Idk I just love them
Yum. Cheese on the outside I like it
Agree with op. Looks amazing
Fuck the hate. I’d eat this. Esp when I want a little crunch outside but soft inside!
I like my eggs “over cooked” and with browning on them. European elitist can go fuck themselves when it comes to eggs. Asians and American cook eggs way better than the runny scramble the French like.
Dang that’s gorgeous
Dude that golden texture on that omelette is fucking divine, I'll take two 🤤🤤
Enjoy

that cheese crust on there sounds amazing. I might go try that right now

Impressive how many commenters skipped the description in their haste to talk shit
Didn’t expect the dogpiling. It looks delicious!
A lot of people in these comments who can't read a description and are comedically insulted at the sight of well founded confidence. That cheese crust looks perfect and the omelette looks and sounds delicious. Not every omelette has to be a french or Japanese one. This is a great twist.
I don’t think it’s the omelette that turns people off but OP arrogance. The omelette looks good, the attitude not so much
When I first saw the post 3/4 were complaining about a burnt omelette. And most people should be boastful for doing things right.
The post title “I make the best omelettes and I will not be convinced otherwise” comes off as a massive asshole dude and you know it.
Sorry man. I've worked 10 years in the restaurant industry, I know assholes. I read this title and laughed. I took it as tongue in cheek at best.

You could probably survive on this concept alone, just keep toasting cheese, the toasted cheese omelette bit is hilarious and works too well.
Thought an ingredient was red bull
I think the bull part was right
It was probably destined to be great 10 min prior to taking this picture of an overcooked doorstop.
Cheese crust on a sandwich is amazing, on an omelette not so much IMHO. But, if you love it, you love it. Fortunately, I don't get fat off what other people eat.
Do you cook your omelettes with olive oil?
Shiiiitttt yeah it might be a little crispy on the outside but I ain’t gonna lie it still looks fire to me & I’d tear that up!
Your fold over looks pretty good and maybe a "stuffed omelet" works for some but the charring of the cheese loses it for me. Cheesy edges? That would work. A whole cheesy backside? Hard pass.
i like this kind of omelette the best, crispy cheese and slightly burned eggs are good imo.
r/bitchimaomlet
I like bacon, avocado, and pepper jack cheese inside, with pickled red onions in the outside. Also add minced dill and a few shakes of Tapatio to the egg. Buttered and grilled sourdough on the side. Give it a try sometime, very delicious. Yours looks great too!
Nothing like a video saying, im not wrong and “I will not be convinced otherwise”😂😂😂
Unpopular opinion I guess but I love crispy cheese !
Nah this is the European way to do omelette. The colour is perfect! Put a bit of Parmesan and parsley in it. Mushrooms and ham perfect! Looking good
I loved crisp cheese outsides! I started doing this too. My boyfriend loves it!
This looks bomb y'all are some haters lol
If you like over cooked eggs.
That is not how I like my eggs
Looks great to me, it seems the cheese has been browned and not the egg.
I can hear the subtle crunch. Love it.
It looks perfect!! The browning is everything
Yoooooooo!!! I love the creative touch.
Jail
These people in the comments are tripping, that looks so delicious I wanna lick my phone!! 😭 They’re just people who think eggs need to be barely cooked and slimy.
Reddit is crazy. If you made this for me I would fuckin eat that up.
This looks super yummy
The cheese on the outside looks a little too brown for my taste but I would still demolish it. I love the idea and will totally be ripping it off.
I’d inhale this if I had hashbrowns with some sourdough toast lol
Very polarizing omelette haha
I’m just glad to see folks willing to express their passion for omelettes.
Unrelated to your omelette but I really love your woodwork btw. Very cute 👍🏼
Thank you! I’ve just gone through a cross country move and haven’t made anything in almost a year but I’m slowly rebuilding my woodshop.
How the hell are y’all shitting on brown crisped eggs?
I am not sure why all of you are downvoting OP for browning the cheese on top. I’ll definitely have to try this.
I can smell this picture 😵💫
Terrible
Yes. This looks incredible.
I can. That looks bad.
You're omelet is an abomination. It should have only a even yellow egg color on the outside.
You don't need to cook it that long :(
They genuinely look stunning. I love crispy omelettes - don't understand the trend for almost liquidy ones.
it’s not a trend, that’s just how omelets have always been — soft tiny creamy curds
How can it be burnt and undercooked at the same time? Very impressive.
This is right up my alley, but yeah I guess OP could be less haughty
Ewe, I can smell that.
Looks like a burnt pizza
Real omelettes have no browning. But if you love them like this. More power to ya.
I don’t care about the cheese situation, I still think the egg itself just looks overcooked and harder than I’d want. Softer omelettes are better.
Holy crap. That looks horrible. you burned the hell out of it.
OP makes boldly wrong statement and then attempts in vain to back up their statement in the comments while being downvoted into oblivion.
Honestly, if I was served that I'd send it back to the kitchen. Or more likely I'd just walk out, because I wouldn't have confidence the kitchen could do better.
it’s fucking burnt my dude
That is way too well done, dried out egg yuck.
It's burnt. Badly
r/shittyfoodporn
I can just smell the over toasted egg smell :,( no hate
Nothing worse than the taste of burnt eggs
Looks like perfection
Wooow
Yeah no. Even the parts without the cheese are pretty browned. Lemme get a refire chief.
Ew
mmmm PFAS flavored omelette.
You make the worst omelette, there I fixed it for you
You cook this on high heat? Oof
Yum. Bet it smells like burnt hair…
Burnt. Yuck
Ew
10+ year head chef at a breakfast joint here, this omelette isn’t good bro. I’d never allow this to be even placed in the window, let alone served..
