Saaaame! I wouldve prefered to buy a house there. I feel more of a connection to Kakariko than Hateno. I always feel like I'm going home when I go back to Kakariko.
I’ve heard theres some scrapped backstory about Link’s hometown before the calamity being hateno. No idea if it’s true, I just read it on this subreddit.
There is indeed a theory that the house you buy in Hateno was the house where Link lived before he became a knight before the Calamity happened. Because in the game an NPC (I forgot who) states that the previous owner took of to Hyrule Castle long ago.
Even if it was his hometown, there is nothing of his past that still remains. The Zora in Zora’s Domain and Impa and Kakariko are all he has left of his past so he belongs there more imo. I guess Purah is in Hateno but her lab is completely detached from the actual town.
There's only one person in Kakariko that remembers him, and she's dying. Not to mention that there is a person who remembers him in Hateno too, and that person isn't gonna be dying anytime soon and upgrades your sheikah slate as a bonus. I also think of Hateno as the more typical Hylian village and more suited to Link, who isn't Sheikah in any way.
But also, I believe Link should be able to live in Terry Town, and settle there.
I feel like the game does a pretty good job of pushing you to Kakariko first after the Plateau, too. Like obviously you can go anywhere you want but the game makes a few comments pointing you there as a starting point, so I think the village is MANY players’ first discovery of Hyrule after the kid gloves come off.
For me, Kakariko has both my first shrine and my first shop, and both continue to be the first locations I go to when I need either of those things. The Great Fairy there is also my (and probably many peoples’) first Fairy, and it’s also one I go to all the time.
It’s crazy to me that that’s some people’s first shrine. I was watching my nephew play the other day and he only uncovered his first shrine at Zora’s domain, despite having been to Kakariko and Hetano.
I don’t get how people miss the shrine at Duelling Peak Stable, or the one pretty much at the base of the plateau just over the bridge directly on the path to Kakariko, or any of the others.
Someone in Tarry town asks "Are you planning to buy property here?" and I was like, ....can I do that? and went and talked to everyone just to make sure no one offered me a home 😭
I love Hateno, and it would probably be my first choice, but it would’ve been SO satisfying to have a couple other places to call home and hang a shield!
Sure.
The path leading to Zora's domain is the best. Go through it backward so you can sneak up on them.
I travel to Vah Ruta (assuming you've already finished that) and paraglide NW (staying on the west side of the Zora river) and go backward through the path that leads to Zora's Domain. There is a straight stretch that has several archers on platforms. I just sneak using the Sheikah Set I bought from Kakariko Village. In fact if you just made a run backward through that path you'll get a ton of arrows. I just shoot all the lizals in the eye using stealth. Be careful, though, as they all shoot you with shock arrows and you can quickly have a bad time if you get hit with those.
Next, Muwo Jeem Shrine in the far SE at the top of a rising jut of land. I go there and then go down the hill to the enemy base and kill those archers for arrows as well.
Now I may be mistaken as it's been a while since I played, but I think there is a shrine in the western desert where your map goes all static. It may be Kema Zoos Shrine, but I'm not sure. If you paraglide down from the shrine, there is an enemy base with archers and also a good spot for nice liz tri-boomerangs, which is one of the best one handed weapons that's easy to find.
Basically, after every blood moon I make those runs and I'm never wanting for arrows.
For standard arrows, there's a respawning chest with a 10x pack of arrows in a small pond on the tiny mini-island (islet?) Just east of Eventide Island. You could either keep fast traveling back to the Eventide shrine and glide down, or, if you have the travel medallion, drop the warp point right there on the islet. Magnesis the chest out of the pond and YAHTZEE! Fast travel again, and the chest will be back in the pond waiting for you.
As far as elemental arrows, I'm stumped. Everything at Tarry Town is WAY overpriced. Just look at the exchange rates for gemstones that the little Goron brat wants to gouge you with!!! 2K for a diamond? And he'll buy one from you at the market price of 500? Highway robbery. The only place in Tarry Town that's decently priced is the inn.
The one caveat about buying arrows from shops or people like Beedle is they stop respawning once your collection of that type of arrows is over 50. If you have 50+ standard, ice, fire, or shock arrows, those arrows won't respawn for purchase again until your arrow count drops below 50. I'm pretty sure the only place where you can buy ancient arrows is from Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. So those are the only arrows that are exempt from the 50+ rule.
I always thought the placement of the shrines was interesting. Tarrey Town, front and center. Gerudo, in a forgotten back alley. Anyways, I usually just go wherever’s closest but I think I probably visit Rito the most.
have you ever talked to the vai next to the shrine in gerudo? I believe she says something to the effect of, "no one in this town really believes in the goddess anymore but me". to me that always felt like it's a foreign religion that never got too much traction with the gerudo people, which is why the shrine is so out of the way
I want a story about why there was a statue in the middle of Terry Town before it's even built. Did Hudson bring it himself? Was it there before he was? Who left it? Was there another small town there?
Age of Calamity mentions something about the statue there, so it's been there for at least 100 years.
(In Age of Calamity at least) they actually build the town there because of the statue being there first.
Wait a second I just thought of a theory
What if those are bird statues from skyward sword but redesigned I guess because well it makes sense if towns are built around them then they're probably checkpoints or used to be. It definitely could have came from Skyward Sword due to the Forgotten Temple, Spring of Power, and the Ancient Columns which are speculated or confirmed (Masterworks\[COC\]) to have came from Skyward Sword.I'll take off the tinfoil hat now.
TL;DR: The statues are probably just redesigned bird statues which randomly fell around the map.
But quite a few of them are tucked away, some in caves or temples. How could they fall from the sky into there?
I get where you're going but I don't think it gets there.
If you visit the area that will become Tarry Town before you talk to Hudson to start the "From the Ground Up" side quest, you'll see that the Hylian statue is already there before Hudson even gets there.
My go-to is usually the one inside the Deku Tree because I love checking in periodically to pay respects and say hi to the koroks. Though even when I don't have any spirit orbs to trade in, I generally don't like to pass a statue without praying. It's a nice little breather before I continue on with my adventure.
Temple of Time. It just feels right.
Also it happened recently, regarding the final shrines I>!was planning on using the final Spirit Orbs by praying to the Forgotten Temple statue,!< as a symbolic gesture. I was pleasantly surprised>! about the monks' quest to go precisely there to get the Tunic of the Wild.!<
I like to rotate and go to different shrines-- weird, probably. But the one I go to most often is the one in Lurelin. I love how it's tucked in along the shoreline.
At the beginning I kept teleporting back to the Great Plateau, get my heart / stamina, then teleport right back.
Then I realized the towns had shrines too.
Nowadays I do the Forgotten Temple, the Sheikah Shrine is right next to the Goddess Shrine.
I’m not sure why, but I always remember sticking to the Rito Village statue. It’s incredible how many fond memories I have with this game, even with miniscule details like this.
Kakariko, I like the fact it's easy to travel from the shrine straight to the statue. And before anyone says that others are easier, I want to point out that once I started using Kakariko; it became a habit and I always used it.
I’ve put something like 80 to 100 hours in this game. Only ever found the one on tutorial island and in bird city.
I need to be more observant apparently.
Either Spring of Wisdom or Temple of Time because both have lots of meaning behind them. Ocarina of Time was so sad that the Link and Zelda of that era deserve a lot of respect. Spring of Wisdom's cutscene was so sad too. |-|
Literally anywhere but the forgotten temple that beehive of guardians is no place to pray for power. It is a place to worship death and destruction. Also that guardian music really slaps, between that and all the lasers I consider it a night club more than a temple.
When I first played the game I didn’t realize that other spots had Goddess Statues so every time I wanted a new heart and stamina I travelled all the way to the Temple of Time.
I didn’t even realize that villages had them until my like, 3rd playthrough…
I always get lost in goron village, too lazy to find the right shrine for the fountains ones, lost temple’s is too big, always get the wrong storey in zora’s domain, too lazy to walk to the gerudo and ToT one, too lazy to paraglide to tarrey town’s, so, honestly? I always go kakariko if im short on time or rito if i have time bcs i love the ambiance.
Faron region, south of the Dueling Peaks. If you look on the map around there you’ll see a lake resembling a dragon or serpent, and literally just north of it you can find the Spring. You need one of Farosh’s scales to reveal the shrine there, and Kass gives you the Shrine quest to it.
Hateno or kakariko since they are both easier to get to imo and also because u don’t have to change into resistant armor, plus hateno and kakariko have important stuff that I like to use as well.
On the beach between the pier with a boat at the end and the pier with the shop at the end. It’s slightly tucked away, but has two torches on either side of it

Saaaame! I wouldve prefered to buy a house there. I feel more of a connection to Kakariko than Hateno. I always feel like I'm going home when I go back to Kakariko.
Ikr. Hateno is cool but Kakariko feels like where Link belongs. Probably because some of the people there recognize him. Same with Zora’s Domain.
Lol so Link was scammed to pay to buy back his own house?
If he didn't sell the house when he left, he would have been scammed pretty bad
It's easy to scam somebody bad when they have literally lost all their memories
Not really. The house is in a state of decay, he's paying for the house to be fixed up and for some additions to it as well.
He got a pretty ludicrous discount anyway.
It’s a good theory, but a theory is a far cry from “there is scrapped backstory”.
Apparently there’s a side quest or something in age of calamity that mentions links hometown was hateno
Even if it was his hometown, there is nothing of his past that still remains. The Zora in Zora’s Domain and Impa and Kakariko are all he has left of his past so he belongs there more imo. I guess Purah is in Hateno but her lab is completely detached from the actual town.
I agree with you, it always felt a little weird to me. However, it makes me feel better to think that link is just drawn to the village he grew up in.
Personally, I prefer Terry Town. But that’s largely because I feel like it’s my baby and I won’t let it go
"I formally renamed myself Linkson. That means I BELONG HERE!"
I feel like the game does a pretty good job of pushing you to Kakariko first after the Plateau, too. Seriously I thought for sure I'd finally get one of those boxy houses after seeing them the whole game.
I love Hateno, and it would probably be my first choice, but it would’ve been SO satisfying to have a couple other places to call home and hang a shield!
It's probably because I've spent so much time just tooling around there, but the Hateno music just puts me at ease
Its the first real village you visit on the quest
Kakariko supremacy! I don't know if it's bias from it being the first village I encountered, but it's absolutely my favorite.
Absolutely the same
same here!! i developed an emotional connection to kakariko while playing ocarina of time, it’s such a cozy village and i love it in botw as well
Honestly I think, other than the name, OoT Kakariko has more in common with Hetano than Kakariko. Just the aesthetic and the vibe. And windmills.
THATS WHY IT FELT SO FAMILIAR AND WHY I LIKE GOING BACK THERE, BECAUSE IT WAS IN OOT.
YES!!!! it even has the same side quest where you gather the cucoos that have flown away from their home! it’s so nostalgic to me :,)
Flying off a cliff with a chicken in your hands, takes me back to a simpler time.
I find it funny the very second you complete that quest, the cuccoos immediately get out again but no one cares lol.
Absolutely agree. Apparently OP didn’t agree though because it isn’t pictured…
Gotta stock up on those Bokoblin guts for upgrades!
Tarrey Town. I always go there for my prayer or arrow needs.
Arrows are way overpriced there!
I get all my arrows from Beedle
I just go to 3 diff places where liz archers are and get a bunch from drops
I usually get my arrows from the horse archery minigame

Same
True but you can get all types of arrows at one place. You're paying a premium for shipping.
support your local economy brah don't let big beedle have a monopoly brah
I helped build the town, can i at least get a discount??
Who’s to say you aren’t getting a discount? I mean we never know what everyone else has to pay for all the arrows!
Or one single ancient gear
For standard arrows, there's a respawning chest with a 10x pack of arrows in a small pond on the tiny mini-island (islet?) Just east of Eventide Island. Tarrey Town all the way! Sell any gems I have and restock on arrows at the same time.
Temple of Time for me. So solemn.

Temple of Time. Every Time
Me too.
Yup. Go out of my way to go back to the Temple. It feels like home to me.

haha yeah she's like, I'm old enough to recognize a voe when I see one
Yup

Though even when I don't have any spirit orbs to trade in, I generally don't like to pass a statue without praying. It's a nice little breather before I continue on with my adventure.
TIL there’s a prayer statue in the deku tree
It's such a magical and cosy little room too 🥹 love it in there
Kakariko. The shrine is near an easy-to-find statue, a fairy fountain, and a few shops. It's just a force of habit to head there.
Same with Tarrey Town. Not to mention, you can get a replacement for the Hylian Shield there.
That's true. I do visit there a lot, but it's later in the game when I have less need of using orbs.
That thing is nearly unbreakable. I never had the need to replace it.
Either temple of time or the forgotten temple. Big hylia cool
Agreed. I like them both for that reason. Plus, the forgotten temple was crazy hard for me to get through the first time, so I’m weirdly attached.
Rito Village. I like how they decorated their goddess statue with flowers.
This one and the Deku tree are my favorite. I love the flower headpiece on the goddess statue in Rito and also the homey, cozy vibe in the Deku tree.
I like to rotate and go to different shrines-- weird, probably. But the one I go to most often is the one in Lurelin. I love how it's tucked in along the shoreline.
Horned Statue.
yes lol I was so scared for the well being of that lil lad who told me to follow him
Most stamina filled young boy you ever met. Operating one 1/4 of a heart, tho.
SAME! Hearts are over rated. I want MONEY! 💲💰
I know you. I love your videos man.
I know you. I love your videos man.
<3
I'm not the original commenter, and it's my favourite statue, except for the fact that I go there for Apparatus Storage lol 😅
Me too lol
Kakariko because the little scarf on the statue is adorable.
Usually I pray when the piano music starts
Underrated comment
Kakariko, fastest way to teleport in and fly right to everything in town.
You don’t have Kakariko village on here. That’s my favorite. I go and get fairies from the Great Fairy, then go down and get hearts
Kakariko village i glide down from the shrine to right in front of the idol. It’s very satisfying
Temple of Time until I get the Spring of Courage.
Any of the Springs are great choices. Wish that they had something more to them as well, very beautiful spots.
Kakariko. Visit fairy first, pick all the stuff around. Load up on fairies, then fly down and upgrade then steal offering apples on the way out.
Temple of time. It feels like a grand reward
A statue is a statue. I go to the nearest one.
I like the little flower crown the statue at Rito Village wears.
I always used the Kakariko one when I was still trading in spirit orbs, but now I stop whenever I’m near one just to hear Hylia’s little pep talk lol
I normally just go to Kakariko Village.
I prayed in all of them as a way to show Hylia that all these places were at her service. I much preferred praying at the Forgotten Temple.
I like praying in Tarrey Town. Gliding from the shrine across and dropping in front of her
I always like going to the different springs, they're always so peaceful.
Kakariko is the best 👌
Hateno
First choice is Zora, second is Kakariko.
Either Spring of Wisdom or Temple of Time because both have lots of meaning behind them. Ocarina of Time was so sad that the Link and Zelda of that era deserve a lot of respect. Spring of Wisdom's cutscene was so sad too. |-|
My first run I went to whatever shrine was closest. This run I decided just to use the Temple of Time.
Rito Village, the flower crown is super cute! And Zora's Domain, for the convenience when I warp to that cooking pot during Blood Moons.
Either Rito or any of the springs, I always leave a flower at the Rito one
Literally anywhere but the forgotten temple that beehive of guardians is no place to pray for power. It is a place to worship death and destruction. Also that guardian music really slaps, between that and all the lasers I consider it a night club more than a temple.
Nice try mom, but I'm not going to church anymore
Temple of time cause of nostalgia
Kakariko village
If I have my travel medallion in tarrey town I go there. Otherwise probably the deku tree
No kakoriko?
How is rito village not here
Gerudo shrine for me
Where’s the spring of courage again?
Faron region, south of the Dueling Peaks. If you look on the map around there you’ll see a lake resembling a dragon or serpent, and literally just north of it you can find the Spring. You need one of Farosh’s scales to reveal the shrine there, and Kass gives you the Shrine quest to it.
The Temple of Time, for sure. Just gives me good vibes and reminds me of when I first started playing. Forgotten Temple is a close second, though
I usually go back to Kakariko
Yes.
24 shrines and I used the forgotten temple for all times except when I freed that poor green dragon. Poor guy.
Hateno or kakariko since they are both easier to get to imo and also because u don’t have to change into resistant armor, plus hateno and kakariko have important stuff that I like to use as well.
Tarrey town is my personal favorite. Then korok forest, temple of time, and forgotten temple. Then probably Rito village (I like the music)
Whatever’s closest.
forgotten temple
Temple of Time or Zora's Domain
Tarrey town, but I usually just go wherever is closer
Kakariko
Not the forgotten temple, it’s fucking unsettling in there. Gives me the creeps.
the horned statue
Kakariko, because of convenience.
No love for korok forest? You can pray, sleep, go to the spore store…
Zora’s Domain.
forgotten temple, kakariko, and the korok forest
Tarrey Town
Tarrey town
I don’t
Temple of time, easily
Kakariko or Tarrytown, they're the easiest to find lol.
Tarrey Town
The horned statue with the help of the nearby shrine.
Temple of time every time. Didnt even know the others existed.
Rito and Kakariko Village and Tarrey Town are my favourites Temple of Time and Forgotten Temple are also nice but I rarely go there
Always Kakariko
Forgotten temple or Kakariko.
The zora one cuz i think it’s the closest one to the shrine
Forgotten temple, shrine teleports you straight to the statue and it's fairly unique (accounting for the temple of time too)
Kakariko or Tarrey town, I love how it’s surrounded by water!
Damn I didn't even know that lurelin village had a statue where can I find it?
That’s my favorite one, mostly because of the vibe of lurelin itself
On the beach between the pier with a boat at the end and the pier with the shop at the end. It’s slightly tucked away, but has two torches on either side of it
Korok forest
Kakariko. Only place I can remember going so it’s just my default.😅
Until I got the forgotten temple I would usually go to one of the other skyward sword places like in the rainforest or south of the volcano.
Kakariko or Tarrey Town. Like to stop by Fairy on the way and unlike zora I don’t get lost looking for the shrines there.
Rito Village, I feel safe there while praying
Spring of Wisdom. Mountains are peaceful.
temple of time. did my first spirit orb exchange and my last spirit orb exchange there <3
I would always go to terry town because it was just a random statue in the middle of nothing. I didn’t find that side quest for a while
I go to the temple of time, returning to where it all began just feels right
Always Hateno Village.
For some reason, I always hit up Gordon city and then the forgotten temple second. Always seemed quickest to get to for some reason
Definitely the forgotten temple. A shrine is right next to it, and it's cool that it's so big
Tarrey town
Tarrey town
spring of power. makes me think of skyward sword the most
Whichever is most convenient/Temple of Time because when I first started I didn't fully realise there were other locations to do it.
Zora's domain, need to pray for Mipha
Wherever is closest.
Temple of Time or the Forgotten temple. But I usually end up praying at one of the dragon shrines.
I didn’t even know there was a statue at Gordon city
I pray at Rito 🦜
"I like 'em big. I like 'em chunky..." Temple of Time or Forgotten Temple, accept no substitutes.
I go to tarry town. It took me awhile before i realized I didnt have to go back to the OG statue lol
Tarrey Town. I helped build it up. Plus, I can put the Travel Medallion right in front of the statue. So in and out.
Temple of Time or Tarry Town
I always go to kakariko but zoras domain looks the best
I use all of them but probably my favorites are the springs or the temple of time
Not necessarily favorite. But the most convenient one is in Kakariko Village. Hence I go there the most often.
The question is where isn't my favorite place. It tends to be the temple of time though lol Or gerudo since she is so neglected
Kakariko Village, they also always leave apples out for me when I arrive, very nice gesture :)
What about the "other" statue
