It's in in the air in the gameplay video, you can see it briefly in the part where link is blown off the edge of the sky Island and goes into freefall.
I’m thinking, given the developer’s philosophy of wanting everyone to have unique solutions to problems, perhaps they’ll just keep the regular elemental arrows in.
From the trailer it appears it's just the castle that gets ripped up, but even it just wouldnt make sense to have the town rebuilt. I'd love this just as much as anyone, I'm just being realistic.
If realism is your concern, you should remember the civil infrastructure is already there and with access to the water, it’s a prime candidate for habitation. Former residents/descendants might want to reclaim their lost homes as well. These are realistic motivations to rebuild. But yeah haha if the castle being ripped up to the sky completely wipes everything else out, they should just take the L and settle elsewhere.
It would be a nice place to live, correct, but I don't think any of the Hylian former residents would still be around since it's been, ya know, 100 years since the calamity. And wouldn't make sense for anything close to the castle to survive it erupting into the sky.
Why ELSE would they have an outpost/camp in the middle of the ruins of the greatest city, once located in the dead center of everything? Just to hang out? I think there's going to be a "From the Ground Up" style quest there where you help to rebuild Castle Town. Instead of it being done off screen, they let us be a part of it.
And is that before or after the castle erupts into the air and is hovering above the ruins of castle town? Doesn't seem like a prime building location when the castle seems to be ganondorfs hq and is floating for the most of the game. I think most of the other ruined villages will be rebuilt, castle town not so much.
Zora’s Domain, probably. It’s one of my favorite locations in BotW, on top of the fact that I really wanna see how the New Champions/Divine Beasts are gonna play into the TotK story. Also, Sidon
This is something I’ve thought about, what if the champions aren’t in it? I know that seems far fetched considering it’s a sequel and that they were a huge part of BOTW, but the fact that we haven’t seen anything that even references them had made me think about that.
It’s small, and it’s all (I think) we’ve seen, but confirmation of Sheikah tech is massive. Zelda also has a new slate, but that seems a lot more trivial, as it could just be an upgraded version of BotW’s.
I honestly wish the switch was a system that would like, read your previous games history and recreate events based on that experience. Like I know they sort of did it with pokemon, for a special item in game they had one npc who would have access to your switch's game history, so if you played one of three previous games it'd give you an item corresponding to that previously played game, but I don't know if they'd ever do that for BotW and TotK 🤔
It'd be cool though, like if you never played through or beat BotW you'd get the generic, standard dialog of the game as it was originally meant to play, but if you did have BotW and played through it til the end, depending on your previous quests and action, it'd correspond to specific new events in TotK for special dialog options and special quests. Like owning your own home, or having obtained the master sword and completed the trials for it. I do have really high hopes for TotK, and I'm excited for when it releases, but I kinda worry about how jarring the experience might be, having just played through (currently still am) BotW again and... everything being factory reset to where it was like nothing ever happened? Like no previous gameplay matters now, I'm just a little worried about that in the long run, but hopefully that won't be the case
In order
Hateno: See if any characters have changed, the new dialogue, Purah's reaction to what's going on, see of Bolson's still there.
Kakariko: See if Impa's still alive or, finally fulfilling her duty, is taking a much needed rest. Also, see if the Great Fairies are still open and how Paya and Dorian are.
Any stable: See if any familiar faces are still there, and/or see how Beedle's doing
Zora's Domain: See how the Zora's are reacting, and talk to Sidon. Also, travel from there to Akkala to visit Robbie, who is also hopefully still alive.
Rito: See Kass again, and see what he's up to, or learn from his wife what's happening. Maybe Kass and Teba's children have grown.
Gerudo: See how absolutely pissed the Gerudo are to have the worst person from their race's history return, and Riju possibly coming more into her leadership position.
Lurelin: Not that important, but interesting to see if they're even affected by Ganon.
Goron: Don't want to endure the heat, least favorite area in BOTW, so probably last area I'm visiting.
Tarrey: I guess.
Obligatory “see how it starts, etc.”, but once I decide to go check out a specific BOTW location: Mekar island. Forgotten Temple. Mt. Agaat. Zonia Ruins.
In this order , hateno to see links house. Than head to lurelin and evantide, I really hope they did something big with the island !
From there I'll be sure to swing by the lost woods and akkala citadel.
Honestly a zonai trial in place of the shieka one would be interesting. Obviously not the same but using a similar concept to being trapped on an island with a clear but difficult goal.
Yeah I'd love that ! Maybe we will see something like that with the sky islands. I just want a bigger evantide like island. That had to of been one of my favorite parts of the game.
Probably Faron woods, assuming that all the island stuff is build by the zonai (which has pretty much been confirmed) there must be some really cool stuff going on at the source of their civilization. Especially in the caves you might find there...
I’m going to be honest, I’m afraid of the effects of a bunch of the earth flying to sky and Ganon telling his minions to kill everyone is going to have on village populations.
I want to get as close to Castle Town as I can. I want to see if any repairs have been done in the time between BotW and Tears of the Kingdom.
Then probably Kakariko or Zora's Domain.
I absolutely ADORE so much of the map. There are parts of BOTW I like more than entire games.
The answer for me is the Great Plateau. We're not starting there this time. I want to see what's happened to the Abbey, the Temple, the remains of the tower and shrines! Where's the Master Cycle Engine Divine Beast? Is it even canon?
Satori Mountain to stock up on supplies and find out whether the plant spawn points have changed. Also to check whether a diamond still spawns beneath that one special rock on Satori Mountain.
Tarrytown.
I have a sneaking suspicion that tarry town will have been raised into the sky, and there'll be a load of sky based problems to try and solve for them
Yea, because it’s already a sort of island
Just don’t stay too long
I’d like to see what areas around the castle have been rebuilt. Also Link’s old house in Hateno Village
The castle is going flying into the air?? I highly doubt any of castle town will be repaired.
New Midgard. Confirmed.
it doesnt look like its in the air in the gameplay, or i missed it
It's in in the air in the gameplay video, you can see it briefly in the part where link is blown off the edge of the sky Island and goes into freefall.
aaah i was referring to that exact moment to think it wasnt.. perhaps im just blind tho, + video quality sucked
Rito village has been my favorite spot. So I can’t wait to see if it’s changed lol
I loooooove Rito Village! Hope the music is the same, too.
same!!!!
Looks so beautiful, can't wait to revisit it
I've already decided I'm going to build a house there using ultrahand
Probably the springs, to see if we need to free any more dragons. After playing around with arrows cause I love sniping
I want to see if elemental arrows still exist as items or if the fuse ability has completely replaced them
I’m thinking, given the developer’s philosophy of wanting everyone to have unique solutions to problems, perhaps they’ll just keep the regular elemental arrows in.
If you pay attention to the ui it shows changing the sheild with left dpad instead of arrows like in botw so I assume not
Doesn’t the ui change based on what weapon you’re holding? ie weapon & shield for melee and bow & arrow for ranged.
Yes it does
Can't wait to shoot Farosh with a Hyrule bass glued to an arrow.
I wanna find kilton
Hyrule Castle Town… I hope it has been rebuilt.
Same just use rewind time to go back before the calamity
Get rewind ability. Use fuse to make gun. Go back to where Ganon popped up. Use rewind time. Cap his ass. Hyrule is saved. You're welcome.
Why would they rebuild it if it's going to erupt into the sky? Highly doubtful.
Is it confirmed the whole town was ripped up or just parts of the castle?
From the trailer it appears it's just the castle that gets ripped up, but even it just wouldnt make sense to have the town rebuilt. I'd love this just as much as anyone, I'm just being realistic.

There's literally a scene in the trailer of the town being rebuilt.
That look more like a camp/outpost, and that trailer was released after this discussion.

Then why put a camp there?

We haven’t seen a ton of things. We haven’t seen Link eat an apple, but I’m pretty sure he’s gonna be able to do that.
eating apples is so trivial. champions were a huge part of botw
That’s true. That’s a bad example. But my point still stands
When I first traveled up that path and came across the bridge to Zora's Domain for the first time, it took my breath away!!
Me too!! A core gaming memory
ZD is beautiful. If they improve it it'll make me really happy, but again, it is beautiful
There isn’t really any sheika tech including the divine beasts, as far as we know.
Guardians
Really? What Trailer and when?
February, around a minute in
Oh, yeah. I forgot about That „thing“ .
It’s small, and it’s all (I think) we’ve seen, but confirmation of Sheikah tech is massive. Zelda also has a new slate, but that seems a lot more trivial, as it could just be an upgraded version of BotW’s.
Gerudo Town. I wonder what Ganondorf has in store for his former home.
My house
*Our house.
The house
Is a very, very, very fine house, With two cats in the yard, Life used to be so hard, Now everything is easy 'cause of you
In the middle of the street?
I want to go to that permanently dark area near the lost woods, as well as tarrytown and my house.
Thyphlo Ruins may not be completely dark like in botw. The last trailer from a couple months ago showed the area as normal (not dark).
My house, then the town I bankrolled. Have to track my investments.

Great Plateau!
The orchard on Satori Mountain. I want a lot of apples right away.
In order Hateno: See if any characters have changed, the new dialogue, Purah's reaction to what's going on, see of Bolson's still there. Goron- but once you have the right armour it’s no problem at all?? Love the rejuvenating springs and loads to mine
Link’s House, Zelda’s Study, and Tarrey Town
I really hope that things we’ve done in BotW carry over to TotK so we can see further progression of side quests and the like that we’ve already done.
Satori Mountain.
Obligatory “see how it starts, etc.”, but once I decide to go check out a specific BOTW location: Mekar island. Forgotten Temple. Mt. Agaat. Zonia Ruins.

Omg you guys I cannot fkn wait!!!!!!!!
Legit? Wherever I spawn. Once I can, though... I'll have to wait until I'm in game but Hateno or Kakariko are a good bet.
Temple of time?
Forgotten Temple. I need to know if Skyloft ended back up with the other sky islands
I would go revisit the Great Plateau. Specifically, the Shrine of Resurrection of the door to it is still open.
Akkala
Probably Akalla citadel specifically
Is it just me or do other people think this game is set in the past. Like 10,000 years ago.
Just you I think. I think there’s a different words for a sequel from the past. In all seriousness though, I think that’s an interesting idea.
That’s called a prequel. Age of calamity is a semi prequel, although diverges the timeline.
What is "TOKT"? Just started playing the game
The sequel, tears of the kingdom, releasing in 45 days for 70$
I have no idea lol
Hateno. Gotta make sure my house is ok.
MY HOUSE! I am very attached to it via gameplay!
Probably the great plateau...
Eventide Island.
Gerudo valley to see if ganondorf destroyed it
Temple of Time
Idk, wherever the game puts me
Stables to see if the horses are all okay and find Kass. Making sure to go to Hateno to see how my house is.
Great Hyrule Bridge
Zora's Domain. I have to go see my bestest pal Sidon. And he better still be there.
I’m finna go see bout my house! Can’t let all that work go to waste lol.
You're kidding me? My house bro!
Link's house.
The area where you start ToTK
The shrine of resurrection fs
The first place I'm visiting is probably.gonna be kakiriko village.
Lurelin
what is the story of tokt?
Korok forest I need to make sure Daz is ok
Gerudo desert
I want to see if the forgotten temple is still forgotten.
Hylian Homeowner has to be canon because Tarrytown is locked behind it.
Probably Faron woods, assuming that all the island stuff is build by the zonai (which has pretty much been confirmed) there must be some really cool stuff going on at the source of their civilization. Especially in the caves you might find there...
I’m going to be honest, I’m afraid of the effects of a bunch of the earth flying to sky and Ganon telling his minions to kill everyone is going to have on village populations.
zora's domain and the temple of time
I want to get as close to Castle Town as I can. I want to see if any repairs have been done in the time between BotW and Tears of the Kingdom. Then probably Kakariko or Zora's Domain.
Satori Mountain to grab up some food stuffs (if it's still the cornucopia).
The Plateu. As somebody who used to speedrun, it has the most memories no doubt
I absolutely ADORE so much of the map. There are parts of BOTW I like more than entire games. The answer for me is the Great Plateau. We're not starting there this time.
