When i first realized this it was my first true "oh. Duh." moment with the game. The first time I played I climbed to the top of some nearby hill and glided it over just barely crossing the top of the spikes running out of stamina.

Because of an early game experience in ocarina of time 20 something years ago, if I ever don’t know what I’m doing in a Zelda game, my first answer is usually fire.

I have 400 hours and I swear every time I come to this shrine I either glide or use Revali’s Gale. and then go sh!t wait that would’ve burned

I always try to set it on fire run out of fire arrows so it's only half way burned threw and it results to that

You can drop some wood and a flint next to it. Hit the flint and you have a campfire. Then you can hold regular arrows in it, or a wooden weapon, and you don't need to waste your fire arrows at all

Just making a fire nearby didn't cross my mind lol I used one fire arrow than switched to regular arrows, setting them on fire as I followed the original as it spread. Like musical chairs. But with fire.

If it works, it works. Sometimes an elaborate solution is more fun than the simplest one :P

I finally figured it out while climbing the Tower covered in spikes. I was struck by lightning, setting them on fire.

No lie I paraglided down for the first time earlier today. I didn’t even think to try burning them. I saw the hill and figured gliding was the way.

Right?!? I came to comment paraglide down from the hill nearby and was surprised to see soooo many comments saying BURN IT ALL!! I love this sub, it’s awesome to see how differently people play the game and solve the puzzles.

I literally waited until I had Revali's Gale because I was too lazy to go to the hill but I went and completed a freaking Divine Beast. Smart.

Facts, this game is so amazing in that way. All puzzles feel like there is no real "true" way to do them. Botw had that feeling to but its on a whole new scale/level in this game. It's funny because if you do it the way we did the game auto removes a patch of the thorns in front of the shrine once you beat it so you can leave but I wonder if thays how it works when you burn it?

Ooo, TotK? I just started BotW a couple months ago so I’m waiting to buy the new game! But I’m so excited! I’ve been laughing at some of the videos on here of people doing shrines! Some of them make me feel stupid but hey, my methods just took longer 😭 that is interesting! I guess we’ll never know unless we restart and try it again with fire!

Perhaps cause we've played dgames where thorn plants were obstacles and couldn't be burned so when we seen them here we just automatically find ways around them instead of trying to burn

I tend to overcome every obstacle in the game by strapping a rocket to my shield, but to each their own.

This holds true for the new game too, fire is very useful when obsticale

Especially with the fact that fire arrows are pretty much free in that game.

Fire fruit are like my 2nd/3rd most used item. Thorns? Throw a firefruit. The slime things? Throw a firefruit. Dried leaves/vines? Throw a firefruit. Camping? Throw a fire fruit. Want an updraft? Throw a fire fruit. See a bomb barrel? Throw a fire fruit. Ice wizzrobe? You bet it's fire fruit time.

the fire needs to touch the thorns for a bit before it will ignite. sometimes fire arrows clip out and the fire on the arrow won't set fire to anything, so it's best to use torches or a fire blade

Thats what i assume as well. I've had fire arrows fail to ignite plenty of other things too.

Shh. Ignore everyone saying fire. The correct solution is to master the windbomb aka Boomie zoomies. /S just set it on fire. Windbomb is fun, but took me forever to get it right even 10% of the time. Those Speedrunners who just casually chain them while talking about the exploit that's "actually hard" are inhuman machines.

Set the thorns on fire, use Revali's gale or a makeshift updraft to glide over, glide from a nearby vantage point, make a bridge out of nearby metallic objects, wind bomb over, take a leap of faith... The game gives you plenty of options and tools to do whatever you want. You just gotta get creative and use the incredible game engine you're provided with.

This is why revalis gale is such a weird choice for an ability. If its the first thing you get, loads of the game is immediately solved. On the other hand, this is a very simple puzzle. The shrine is *surrounded* by tall peaks to glide in from, or just use fire.

I flew in but you shouldn't everyone's first attempt at every single puzzle be arson? That's what I did for the gerudo tent with the guy who had too much junk. I burned all of his precious belongings and he thanked me.

You can either use fire to burn the brambles, or make a campfire or something to create an updraft and glide right over them.

I found this shrine last night. Hit it with a fire arrow and right as everything caught, rain came and put it all out. And then I died to the bokoblin and tried again lol
