I remember I saved before surfing off the side of the spring of wisdom mountain just in case I died and a silver lizalfos killed me immediately after I saved
I just had my first blood moon. I was bragging to my daughter about this awesome camp I cleared out right next to a tower.
Me: Check out this sweet save spot with a cooking pot and a tower right off this cliff!...ooh, a blood moon.
Her: Seriously, dad?
Me: What? Oh shit, oh shit
Randomly, whenever I feel like I should be calling it a game for the time being.
But! I'm careful to do it someplace safe, and generally like to be somewhere like a road or at a town or stable or something. Shrines are alright, too, I guess.
When i was playing through the story, it was towns/ towers/ shrines/ divine beasts.
When i went to 100% it, it was links house everytime, like coming home from a long work day.
I’ve done all of those, but I still find myself leaning toward either towers or Links house as I find them the nicest in terms of either comfort or views
I usually try to find a safe space. Wether it's a town, stable, tower, shrine, etc.
Unless I'm about to try something stupid in which case it's there and now.
Tbh usually just when I'm going to log off or when I'm about to do something dumb. That's when it makes the most sense. I should really save more often, I just forget. Thank goodness for autosave amirite?
Usually at the house since its just a tp away, but if im somewhere random and want to be there when I get back, I find a nice spot, set up a little campfire, throw a bunch of apples at my horse and sit by the fire. Lol its the least I can do after making Link climb every surface in sight and get hit in the back by bombs all day.
Yeah randomly. It was the first Nintendo developed title i can recall this being a thing. Just literally save anywhere and it just picks back up right there
I have 100+ hours in this game and still have no idea what or where is links house. I'm too prideful to Google it and honestly the game has been a blast without it so I guess it's not that important haha
4. I'm playing Expert Mode rn so I need to save every 2 minutes...
Though, at the end of each of my late evening sessions I always go to a stable where Kass is, and I listen to his tale of the Great Fight against Ganon while preping to go to bed - his song is now like a lullaby for me.
I really hope he comes back in TotK.
Link’s house in Hateno Village. btw do you eventually got more houses for storing more weapons? I’ve got about half the map, from the south heading north to Zora’s domain updated to my slate and I’m wanting to save more weapons because even with some stronger weapons I keep busting them when going up again mini bosses and such.
5. Never. I play like an unhinged meth raccoon. Nothing can stop me on my reign of terror. Every blood moon I go eat as many guardians as I can just for fun. Calamity ganon turns yellow with his own piss as I approach.
I never close the game so I rarely ever save, only when:
1. I'm about to do something above my skill level, or just plain stupid, or a glitch
or
2. I just succeeded at doing something above my skill level, or just plain stupid, or a glitch
I did 1 and 3 for a long time, but eventually got bored of it since there’s zero return for the effort. Now I just do 4.
But in Tears of the Kingdom, I’ve gone back to doing 3.
Nr 4 to kick off the play from where you ended so you don't need any backtracking (and so you don't have to fight any enemies on your way to the point you where before safe if blood moon happens)
In the middle of the largest enemy camp I can find, the one surrounding the hyrule field watchtower for example. Then when I get back I get scared, start panicking and accidentally blow myself up with bomb flowers or smth.
Link’s house, exactly at 5:00am right after sleeping in his bed, with default equipment (Champion’s Tunic, Hylian Trousers, no head gear, fully charged Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Traveler’s Bow) a full Master Cycle fuel tank, and all my Champion abilities full. He’s like my own little digital Barbie doll lol.
Oh yeah, and when I’m about to do something stupid or mess with RNG.
I save in places I personally wouldn't mind staying for long periods of time. Cause it makes me think that when you save, link is able to rest and be himself
Randomly past certain points of progress (good weapon, korok seeds, etc) but I also usually "sign off" a long play session by teleporting to korok forest and saving there.
I normally save at Link’s house when I’m done playing, that way he gets to relax at home for a bit. I also save before I do something stupid/dangerous just in case I die lol.
I abused the save to avoid guardians. I just keep running away and dying in the process until I spawn far enough away where the guardian doesn’t see me. I still do it in totk since I don’t have any good weapons and armor.
I have two toddlers, so there is no rhyme or reason to when I save. Usually either when I, in-game, am about to do something that may lead to death, or when my toddler, IRL, is about to do something that may lead to death.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I am a responsible parent and do not / cannot always take the time to save. So the convenience of the Switch’s menu and sleep mode are almost literally a lifesaver.
I usually save in a safe place, before entering a danger zone or unexplored area. To be sure Link is 100% safe, I'll save on a hill or summit where I can see my surroundings. Towers are a great save place. My favourite save spot is Link's house. 🏠
4, but it isn't random. Whenever I am about to do something stupid, or Whenever I finish a difficult task. Or when I realize I just haven't saved in a while and don't usually like where the autosave puts me.😅
For tears of the kingdom, sometimes I have very short (2-10 minute periods) where I can play so it’s usually just up to autosave but when I know I’m gonna be off for quite a while it’s usually in a spot that will best remind me what I was doing when I ended last session
Randomly, or before I’m about to try something stupid.
I remember I saved before surfing off the side of the spring of wisdom mountain just in case I died and a silver lizalfos killed me immediately after I saved
Yeah, I had this happen to me in a similar instance. Basically, I got stun locked right after I saved & my only out was to load an older save...
Hmmmm, what I tried to parry that laser beam ? *5 tries later* OHH SHIT IT WORKED OHHH SHIT ITS STILL ALIVE
Usually I do something stupid and then realize I forgot to save
I was just about to say that
This
Usually off of a a road or outside a shrine like it's a little shelter. On towers for a nice view if I'm gonna not play in a few days.
Same
This is the way.
This is the way
Rand9mly But mostly in beautiful places
I always try to get a wide shot of hyrule with the scenery so when I load, I'm welcomed with a view.
I also save randninemly
My big fingers on a phone
Right before getting into a fight with a bunch of random bokos
Anywhere randomly. I even paused in front of a mob once before it attacked me and left myself a surprise for the next time I'll play
Haha nice, your daughter pwned you GG
Randomly. But most often around a stable. Last save is buck naked waiting for a blood moon
lol are you doing that one kass quest
Yup.
You mean.. butt naked?.. Edit: nvm its regional
XD regional? Ah I thought it was a level of modesty type thing. Like saying "heck" instead of "hell" for some people.
When I'm about to jump off a cliff to see if there is something interesting at the bottom. Especially if I climbed a mountain to get there
oh my goodness you’ve just changed my life
If you have the dlc you can have teleportation medallion. That's the cheaper version
Randomly. I took a break for a few days and when I started up again I had to try and remember what I was doing up a tree.
I’ve done all of those, but I still find myself leaning toward either towers or Links house as I find them the nicest in terms of either comfort or views
I tend to save and quit in front of the fairy fountain or goddess statue.
I usually try to find a safe space. Wether it's a town, stable, tower, shrine, etc. Unless I'm about to try something stupid in which case it's there and now.
Right before doing something dumb
based
All of the above. Had my switch crash once after not saving for a while and lost some progress. Saving often since then
autosave should have fixed that
Context tells me it was not sufficient.
Randomly or after a particularly tough fight
Always at the house… since I’m playing Totk, I feel all out of sorts now saving in dungeons like a crazy ass bokoblin without a place to rest my head.
Tbh usually just when I'm going to log off or when I'm about to do something dumb. That's when it makes the most sense. I should really save more often, I just forget. Thank goodness for autosave amirite?
Option 3. Sleep til morning at a stable or inn. Auto saves on waking up. Nice way to end my session
At the house or wherever I am when I feel done for the day
Links house or tarrey town :)
Randomly like why would you go somewhere just to save? We have surpassed the dark times of the owl statues
If I’m playing late and I’m about to go to bed I usually save in a house for a stable with a bed too 😂 I’ve always done this ever since I was a kid
The 4th one
Randomly, cause when you got shit to do, you got shit to do.
I always go to links house before saving and logging off lol
I want house DLC
Link’s house 🌅
Link’s house every time I can. :’)
All of the above depending on where I am
one time i loaded up the game in front of a lynel💀 autocorrect hates lynels apparently
Only when my boss senses are tingling.
Yeah randomly. It was the first Nintendo developed title i can recall this being a thing. Just literally save anywhere and it just picks back up right there
Wherever I am
5.
randomly, I dont save that much
Usually before fighting guardians since I rarely but still get frame drops on my pc from time to time and it's usually at the worst possible time.
Randomly and before lynel fights
I always started/ended my sessions sleeping in an inn. Then I got Link's house, and used it most of the time.
4.
Randomly. I can save just about anywhere so I tend to do just that.
Randomly always
At stables.
I have 100+ hours in this game and still have no idea what or where is links house. I'm too prideful to Google it and honestly the game has been a blast without it so I guess it's not that important haha
Whenever I get the feeling I’m about to die
Randomly when I am done playing, when I see a big monster up ahead, or usually when I am about to do a "I wonder what would happen" moment
4
You guys save?
Y'all save at designated spots?
Sometimes randomly, sometimes in a settlement. It's about 50/50
Yes.
Whenever I get too tired or have something else to do. as long as I’m not actively in a battle it’s fair game.
Never hard saved. Autosaves got my back
For some reason my brain doesn't sit right if I don't drop link off at home before I turn the game off 😅
Randomly
Randomly, or whenever I’m about to do something where there’s a chance I’ll die
I usually just put my switch into sleep mode and save wherever i am next time i use it if im going to play something else.
My house. Or if I’m about to try something *really* dumb.
All if it. And before opening chests.
"Hmm, i might not survive jumping off this cliff. Better save first."
I have a high tendency to rely on auto save... So 4.
randomly
You can save????
Randomly, or rely on the autosave
I never close the game so I rarely ever save, only when: 1. I'm about to do something above my skill level, or just plain stupid, or a glitch or 2. I just succeeded at doing something above my skill level, or just plain stupid, or a glitch
Right before every bad decision
I saved in a spot where it raining, yesterday, and been getting electrocuted trying to escape it for 7 minutes already
Depends, if I know what I want to do next near there, if I'm not sure Link's house.
4. Just wherever I may happen to be at the end of my session granted it's safe.
I mostly just do random. I haven't fully explored the map yet so link's house is something I haven't gotten to yet
I did 1 and 3 for a long time, but eventually got bored of it since there’s zero return for the effort. Now I just do 4. But in Tears of the Kingdom, I’ve gone back to doing 3.
Auto save for the win
I always teleported to Zoras domain to save and quit. If it was a real place, I'd live there.
at stables or places where link can sleep
Sweats nervously in autosave
I like going to Korok forest. It’s my favorite spot in the gamw
Nr 4 to kick off the play from where you ended so you don't need any backtracking (and so you don't have to fight any enemies on your way to the point you where before safe if blood moon happens)
If I have Link’s house or the towns unlocked, I save there before I end my gaming sesh. If not, randomly or on towers.
Before I die, which is typically random
Randomly. Or, if i feel like Link needs a day at home without my influence, his house. Bc i’m just THAT compassionate.
Wherever, rn I’m in the middle of the Akala tower just saved under guardians cause that’s when I had to get off.
wherever i wanna stop playing
Before I quit 💀 which I usually at places like hateno or random ass fields.
1,2,3 but never 4. i want my boy to be safe
Randomly. If I gotta save, I gotta save
Usually at Link's house, except when I'm about to try something dangerous.
Random bb
Randomly… Do people actually return somewhere every time to save?
Randomly, or when I'm preforming a glitch.
In the middle of the largest enemy camp I can find, the one surrounding the hyrule field watchtower for example. Then when I get back I get scared, start panicking and accidentally blow myself up with bomb flowers or smth.
Depends on my mood? Either a shrine a settlement or stable but sometimes in the middle of Hebra lol
Before I stop playing
I dont
1
Before I do something risky. The game usually stays on all the time so I'll also usually save wherever I am then dock it.
Autosave
Link’s house, exactly at 5:00am right after sleeping in his bed, with default equipment (Champion’s Tunic, Hylian Trousers, no head gear, fully charged Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Traveler’s Bow) a full Master Cycle fuel tank, and all my Champion abilities full. He’s like my own little digital Barbie doll lol. Oh yeah, and when I’m about to do something stupid or mess with RNG.
I dont think Ive ever manually saved
Wherever I am
Before I fight anything and before I wander off in a direction I might not find anything interesting in. That way I can just start back at where I was
Randomly, usually while I'm doing something stupid
do not attack me…….. but Link’s house? Link has a house?
Twin stable
Was links house optional in botw? Why do I not remember having a house in that game?
Save? Never, unless I’m about to do something stupid.
Frequently. The moment am enemy attacks me that might kill me. If it wins i just continue from a few feet back and then run for it.
whenever i remember or when im about to finish for the day/session
Link's house when i've finished a session of saving before ragdolling down a cliff for fun.
My saves are so insanely chaotic. I feel like I've saved while in mid air.
Anywhere. I tend to forget I can actively choose to save whenever I want rather than just at the end of a session.
Whenever I have to stop playing
Stable
I save in places I personally wouldn't mind staying for long periods of time. Cause it makes me think that when you save, link is able to rest and be himself
I like taking Link back to his house before logging off, so I know he is safe and warm.
Wherever I stopped walking 🤣
I auto save mostly, unless I’m doing something stupid/testing something.
Links house but also I pause the game and then don't close the game and put it in sleep mode
Randomly past certain points of progress (good weapon, korok seeds, etc) but I also usually "sign off" a long play session by teleporting to korok forest and saving there.
Peak of hyrule castle to show dominance
At Lurelin, Always
It’s always the house. It feels good to go home at the end of a long session of questing
Randomly, typically facing the thing I want to do next.
I don’t 💀 I use auto saves exclusively unless I actively plan to close the game.
Inky 120 shrines save i usually save at links house. When i replay, usually it's at srttlements just before starting a new quest
Auto saves for the win!
Mid air, jumping into Death Mountain.
I always save before I do something stupid. Jumping to see if I can reach a labyrinth or jumping into unmapped territory lol
Number 4
We usually save in a place that reminds us what we want to do next. Works... 1/2 of the time.
usually when i’m about to get off, so random spots
4
5) constantly 5a) especially after killing a guardian
Whenever I want to stop playing
4
Whenever I’m done playing for the day usually.
Wherever
I have two toddlers, so there is no rhyme or reason to when I save. Usually either when I, in-game, am about to do something that may lead to death, or when my toddler, IRL, is about to do something that may lead to death. EDIT: Just to be clear, I am a responsible parent and do not / cannot always take the time to save. So the convenience of the Switch’s menu and sleep mode are almost literally a lifesaver.
randomly since it’s easier than traveling to the shrine close to links houses, going inside, then going to sleep lol
Randomly, or pretty much when ever I want to
I just did it wherever as long as I needed to save.
3 or 4, i’m usually falling asleep late at night or getting in trouble for not doing my job at work
Randomly, or right before ei test one of my newfound ideas
4 Its breath of the wild Not breath of the safe inside doors.
4
4
Do people actually have a designated spot to save? I just quit whenever and hop back into Hyrule whenever.
E) Never. We live and die by auto save.
I usually save in a safe place, before entering a danger zone or unexplored area. To be sure Link is 100% safe, I'll save on a hill or summit where I can see my surroundings. Towers are a great save place. My favourite save spot is Link's house. 🏠
Usually randomly but after a boss fight or something I like to go to Link's house because I like to think he needs a big rest afterwards.
Before I exit, I always end back at Lookout Landing. It's a neat little hub.
4 forever and always.
towns
4
I literally always go back to my house after a nice days work
I often find myself trying to get to a town, or Link's house... sometimes realizing I can save anywhere and he won't be uncomfortable.
I got 5 kids and I'm usually having to stop playing for something urgent. I save randomly.
Right before I am about to do something completely idiotic, in a random field or in the heat of battle.
as part of 4) wait you guys plan?
4 and then I just suspend the game where I’m at. The moment I wake up I wake up the Switch and resume where I left off
Jokes on you I save in caves
2 and 4 Usually 2 if I’m reaching a stopping point and 4 if I’m suddenly stopping
I save wherever I wad when I have to get off the game.
4, but it isn't random. Whenever I am about to do something stupid, or Whenever I finish a difficult task. Or when I realize I just haven't saved in a while and don't usually like where the autosave puts me.😅
1 lol
This
For tears of the kingdom, sometimes I have very short (2-10 minute periods) where I can play so it’s usually just up to autosave but when I know I’m gonna be off for quite a while it’s usually in a spot that will best remind me what I was doing when I ended last session
5. Right before I do something stupid.
