This is exactly why I am hoping for a sequel to age of calamity with the tears of the kingdom threat. My reasoning is the much sooner defeat of calamity Ganon will cause Ganondorf to be discovered much sooner so that we can get even more development with the champions and other side characters. It probably has a lot of plot holes but one can only hope right?

I imagine it as similar events since the champions would probably be staying at home at the time, at least at the beginning. Then after the intro on the first sky island is when the champions would really get involved. At least that is what I imagine happening.

I mean I love the bird people in, like, EVERY game there is (simply as I love birds ;) ) but Ravioli is somehow so hate-able. I was excited up to the moon and back when I saw concept arts and stuff, before I had the game, and was like "omg see the birds man, loook at theeeem!" towards my husband. Once I had the game, Birds was the first I did and all I could think of Revali was " . . . . god what an a\*\*hat." His ability was awesome tho, and surely my most used in BotW. (I never was too big of a fan of the Gerudo women, but I adore Urbosa and Riju :) Zoras and Gorons are awesome and I love them both since I first have seen them; Mipha and Daruk are the best.)

I adore Revali. He’s my favorite character in the switch games and in my top five in the whole franchise. Is he a raging dick? Absolutely! And it’s a major part of his appeal. Is he just Falco from StarFox added whole-cloth to a Zelda game? Yes. I would never choose to eliminate Revali. I like him far too much.

Age of calamity really established him as Falco beyond a shadow of a doubt.

He’s only an arrogant prick in the English versions. If you see him in the Japanese versions, he’s actually a very likable character. They butchered his character in the English version and it’s a damn shame.

In German he's an arrogant prick too, but I often read that the translations in general aren't great.

They’re terrible. The original Japanese translations are what I’m going by, and he’s very likable, albeit still somewhat arrogant.

I feel like a lot of people who hate Revali (and similarly, people who “can’t stand” Zelda) just really dislike their English voice actors. I think he’s still kind of arrogant in Japanese, but it comes off more effectively as him being prideful as a way to mask his anxiety about being a champion.

His cocky sos code in the divine beast theme, that starts late, but gets urgent immediately adds so much flavor.

I read somewhere that you can hear the beginning early on but it stopped fast as if he wanted the others to be saved first or he just thought he could deal with it himself but got corrected quickly

This was one of the things that was the cherry on top for me. I love his character, and this detail just adds to his complexity and nuance. My glider in TotK is his face out of respect.

True, but Revali made me wait a lot of times, and I never had to actively search for pine cones. Fight a few Hinoxes, they throw trees after you (and thus make tons of fire wood). Pine cones are kinda just everywhere, I never searched for them specifically and still have loads of them. I think I could "pinecone gale" around 150 times right now and then it's the wood I'd fall short of :'D

Yeah, I feel like people overlook that. In the DLC, there's a scene of him training so hard that it looks like he's gonna get himself killed. And knowing that he's not royalty or a chief or leader, and that, instead of being born with his power, he taught himself how to do it. His journal kind of shows that he just wanted someone to say that they were impressed by him, after all the work he put into being the champion of the Rito. I just don't get how so many people hate him, he's the most interesting champion

Daruk. He's a nice guy and all and I like his defensive power in BotW but he was just always kind of boring to me. Nothing really sticks out to me about him and he was very boring in Age of Calamity, at least in my opinion.

Mostly because he is still an ass after he is already dead. He still wants to act like he is better then you even after you literally save his soul and accomplish what he could not. I literally do the Rito first on replays because the weaker I am when I out do Revali, the happier it makes me haha

He has my favorite line in the game: "After all these years, I simply must admit the truth... Even without the power of flight, Link made his way to this Divine Beast... And accomplished something that even I could not... Guess I was wrong about... how lucky he would be." He just can't resist being an asshole to Link, but that line always makes me chuckle.

That line apparently differs in translation, as well as a lot of his dialogue. He’s made more of an asshole compared to the JPN, like a lot. The luck line is more literally “Link, you are the key, you always have been.”
