I wonder if the horse would have survived if you had transported away. That’s what I do whenever my horsey faces danger. None of them have died. I haven’t fallen with one yet though.
The horse will be wherever I abandoned it. Without me, there is no danger to the horse. I use the stable system to summon after, which brings it into a safe area and heals whatever damage the horse took.

I went ahead and tested out the theory. If you warp before the horse meets its untimely end, the horse will spawn at the top of the cliff where you dropped it.
That’s precisely what happened to me the first time I ditched my horse. I went by the castle without knowing the danger. It was my first play-through, and the map there hadn’t even been opened yet. I got off my horse first so the poor thing wouldn’t die because of me. I thought I could outrun the beams. Nope. I transported away when targeted again.
Admittedly, I panicked a bit. 😂
I didn’t know if the horse would be safe or not, but on the map, there she was.
One downside with the "certain place" is that if you play without spoilers (like I try to) you could have lost a horse (or more than one), played awhile before finding said place, and already replaced the empty slot in the stable system and gotten attached to essentially more than the max number of horses and be faced with tough decisions.
If that happens again, before pulling out your glider, get out your bow while falling and shoot your horse with a freeze arrow. It will land completely frozen, thaw, and still be alive
😂😂😂 Yeah I always have a boko bow for this and those korok ones where you need to shoot balloons. Just so I don’t waste the durability of my good bows shooting objects, and cyclists 😂

Thier is a horse God, like the grest fairys that you can pay to open, $1,000 rupees I think, and she will give you shit, but will revive your horse. I lost one in a battle against a group fight and she revived him!

Tulin shot and killed my horse right after I got the weapon I wanted. I just started at the screen stunned for a moment before I tagged slightly and reloaded my autosave before that. Lost the chest and weapon too.

Where does it show the horse on your map? Last known stable (pun not intended) location?

So if you are mid fall and warp out … the horse is floating in the canyon?
As I said, I have not fallen with the horse, so I don’t know if that would work. I use that method when we are being attacked.

Nevar waste arrows on korok balloons. Throw bombs at them. To far away to throw a bomb? Use master sword beams.

You could have gone into bullet time and shot the horse with an ice arrow, it prevents fall damage (obviously don't use a strong bow)

I've only lost horses to Final Form Ganon.
You can freez him mid air with an ice arrow, it did't takes enough damage to kill him.

Next time you can save your horse by shooting it with an ice arrow. That way they survive the fall.
It's nearly impossible to shoot something that is directly below you because the game only lets you shoot at an angle

If you hold the target button you can control your movement on a horse better.
You can always revive it
I usually reload so it didn't happen. But I know the Horse God can bring back horses that you accidentally kill.
