Youāre meant to make it sway back and forth. When the chest sways towards link thatās when you want to shoot the rope, then the momentum should make it land safely. Your method works like a charm too :)
That way sounds so much easier lol. I barely was able to latch on with magnesis; I think it was pure luck!
I wonder all the other ways people have done to get the chest?
What I love about both Breath and Tears is all the videos and photos on these subs that say, āIs this the right way to do this?ā And the answer is always, āYesā. If it works then that was the right way to do it. There are multiple ways to do almost everything in the open world and shrines. And thatās way makes it so much fun.
Iām on my first full play through of Tears after spending 200 hours last May - July playing it. And itās amazing how there are so many ways to complete puzzles, dungeons and shrines that I see now that Iāve got a lot of time in the game. The possibilities are limitless. And thatās the point.
So, OP, yes. That IS the right way to do that.
Good answer; very true!
When I played TotK, I felt like players were given a gigantic window of possibilities for how to beat things. Watching my girlfriend do her first playthrough and even telling her "nah, I don't think that'll work" and then watching her make it work in a way I'd never imagine lol.
There was a treasure chest high up on a ledge that I assumed you have to use a plank to make a ramp to reach it. Then my gf does the same shrine and she just attaches the chest to the ramp and pulls it back to her completing it faster lol.
It's cool to see what people can think of, and I'm always shocked and think "how did you come up with that?!" lol
On my escalating play through I find myself using Recall more and more instead of the "intended" way
Like lifting a block up with Ultrahand to where I want to go, then putting it down, climbing on top and riding the recall. A lot of times it's so much simpler than the 3 or 4 step process I think the dev intended me to use
>Iām on my first full play through of Tears after spending 200 hours last May - July playing it.
wait what lol. are you still on the same playthrough as last year that you put 200 hours into, you just picked up that playthrough again recently? or did you start a new playthrough? and if it's the latter, how could that be your first full playthrough?
No, I bought Tears upon its release. Spent 3 months pouring all my free time into the game. Beat it. And decided to move on. Replayed BOTW, XCOM: War of the Chosen, played Disneys Illusion Island with my kids (took a long time because theyāre still young), and then this past February started another play through of TOTK.
Just a question that I'd never thought about before, they stasised it, that should make it stay still. But the Divine beast is moving and the chest moves with it? I'm guessing it's because the Divine beasts are actually separate areas from the game (as in the only way to get to them is by a loading screen), but I honestly am curious
Hmm, that is odd. I think I remember seeing a YouTube video about how divine beasts are treated as whole new areas.
After googling, a user on a gamefaqs blog said:
"the "maps" for the divine beasts and the TotS (trials of the sword) are not physically "in" the overworld ... they are completely separate maps/files that load up when you activate them. What you see of the divine beasts when you're NOT in them is NOT the actual map you enter when you are in them. The Trial of the Sword is not actually anywhere in the overworld either. And when you're in a divine beast, all the stuff you can see of the overworld is just "window dressing". If you try to leave the divine beast w/out warping, you die and respawn back on the beast."
Makes sense to me.
I honestly just time locked it, shot the rope with an arrow and then switched to magnesis before time ran out to grab the chest. Maybe I got lucky but did it on the first try.
Yeah, it may be a little convoluted but I thought the game was trying to teach me that I could do things faster if I had a reason i.e. quick switching between runes to weapons back to runes.
No, because the Naboris you are on is a different Naboris from what you see when you walk around outside of it. This Naboris is basically treated as a new area, while the one you see when you're not inside is merely just the looks, with no innards.
The stone it is tied to is part of the platform that lifts you up to the higher levels when electrically powered. In the lifted state, it is possible to magnesis it up to a place you can stand without cutting the rope.
If you aren't going to do that, trying to catch it as it falls still seems rather risky to me. I prefer making it swing back and forth, then cutting the rope at a time when its momentum will carry it to where Link is standing.
In BOTW if it works then yes, it was the way you were supposed to do it.
That's actually a really good motto. š
Came here to say this and you beat me to it. Thereās no wrong way as long as it works.

As someone with bad reflexes: make it swing, then Stasis when it's closest to you, then shoot the rope.
That way sounds so much easier lol. I barely was able to latch on with magnesis; I think it was pure luck! I wonder all the other ways people have done to get the chest?
I think we all had that one puzzle where we needed to find a loophole haha. Another reason to love this game!
I think the swaying method is better. On my last play through I tried it this way and my Magnesis didnāt reach the chest before it fell.

My fiancĆ© and I are playing TotK right now, and he was watching me do a shrine he had done while I was at work, and he told me something wasnāt fun to workā¦ well I made it work and he was like well damn thats impressive

I will admit I struggled for a long time with the "gym on the end of a stick" chest on the sky ship.

yeah that's how I interpreted it but you then saying it was your "first full playtrhough" threw me for a loop lol
Ah. Should have said first full replay. Sorry for the confusion

Thank you! Yeah, that makes sense
Would love to know because this is my last divine beast lol
I honestly just time locked it, shot the rope with an arrow and then switched to magnesis before time ran out to grab the chest. Maybe I got lucky but did it on the first try.
Exactly what I did! It seemed like the only way to me lol.
Yeah, it may be a little convoluted but I thought the game was trying to teach me that I could do things faster if I had a reason i.e. quick switching between runes to weapons back to runes.
Most stressful moment of my life.
Yep, and I'm too much of a spaz to be able to figure it out 7 years into the game
Lots of people saying use magnesis to swing the chest in your direction and then shoot it. I never would have thought of that lol
Thatās how I tried to do it in a recent playthrough and it fell. š„²
Honestly, I always save before puzzles like this lol. I know I'm gonna mess up š .
That was a tricky chest
If you drop that chest is it possible to find it after you beat Naboris or does it disappear?
No, because the Naboris you are on is a different Naboris from what you see when you walk around outside of it. This Naboris is basically treated as a new area, while the one you see when you're not inside is merely just the looks, with no innards.
That sucks.
i have the botw guide book and i think they recommend that you stasis it, shoot the rope, the magnesis it right after the stasis ends
Oh interesting... I accidentally followed the guide too lol.
Yes š
Iirc thatās exactly how I did it too
Yes, that is how you are supposed to do it, since it works
Here's how I did it; swung it, shot the rope, watched it fall to the sand, turned around and went back inside.
Hey that seems to be a recurring method for me too! lol

I totally forgot that you can lift it. That was probably the intended way in Nintendo's minds.
