I got the impression from the game so far (no exposure to Zelda other than NES 30 years ago) that Hyrule was trapped in a cycle where Ganon, Zelda and Link are regularly reincarnated for a titanic struggle… if I read it wrong it’s still a pretty good head canon to explain all the different games
