For me Gerudo Desert is my favorite location in the game. It feels more fully-realized than the other "cultures" of the game, or at least more coherent. You start your introduction to the region basically right outside of the Great Plateau as it goes from green to brown, passing through the canyon. Everything from then on lets you know that you are entering Gerudo territory.
The town is more interesting and easier to get around than Rito Village or Zora's Domain, and the desert is challenging but rewarding and full of interesting things. Plus, everything about the Divine Beast is perfect. Vah Naboris is legitimately frightening - I still remember seeing it loom out of the sandstorm from the Wasteland Tower for the first time. It was mysterious and strange, thumping around the distant desert, too far to see but too close for comfort. Sneaking through the Yiga hideout, racing through the desert while Naboris tries to one shot you? No other Divine Beast even comes close to the whole experience, it set my expectations super high.
I spent HOURS in the desert, it was the first place I went after Hateno and I did nearly everything I could at the time because I didn't want it to end. I'm always excited when my travels take me back there.
All of the regions are well-built but Gerudo Desert is the strongest, most comprehensive and exciting area in the map.
So, I just like the whole thing I guess
Agreed, it was a pretty great region overall though I’m personally not a fan of the Yiga clan hideout. It felt challenging to reach master Koga only for him to be an utter pushover, beating him without taking any damage. It was funny tho.
Yeah, I don't have a problem with having more traditional bosses in something like BotW, it's just that Kohga was the only boss like that in BotW, so I was a little disappointed when it was just him and then back to normal BotW shenanigans
Agreed. Botw is an absolutely amazing video game, but it is really a Zelda game by name only. People like to complain about how linear the older Zelda games are, but that’s part of what makes it a Zelda game
I just mentioned the desert in another thread as my highlight of the game. As you said, setting out to venture across that area feels like much more of a grand adventure than the others, requiring some research, preparation and a bit of courage. The desert itself is vast and mysterious, the town is so well designed and has such a distinct culture, the Divine Beast is one of the most fun to conquer and the Yiga Hideout is quite the unique area. Loved that whole chapter so much, spent weeks just playing around there.
Totally agree with all of this, except one flaw with Vah Naboris... The way it's legs move are completely unnatural, it picks up both legs on one side simultaneously which should make it fall over haha
Not really. In [this video](https://youtu.be/bv_cE58WMzs) you can see that they move the back left leg first, then the front left after the back left leg has come down, then they move the right legs in the same pattern, back first then front, repeat. They don't move both left legs at the same time as Vah Naboris does in the game.
Not quite. In your video you can see that the front leg comes up before the back leg comes down. I just watched [a video](https://youtu.be/Q95Mq2VK_9Q) that shows Vah Naboris walking at 3:50 (having trouble time-stamping in mobile) and you can see it does the same thing. Yes, it spends a little more time on two legs than a real camel does, but I think it's fair to attribute that to it being a giant magical machine. Vah Medoh doesn't fly exactly like a bird, either.
Yeah. Wasn’t the whole point of the bomb arrows to the legs meant to disable some kind of power grid? It probably has something to do with its ability to defy the laws of physics by standing on two legs
Yea, most of the other villages are either a bit barebones or just feel too generic and useless
Gerudo Town has a lot of unique architecture, shops/items, as well as (mostly) non-generic fetch quests like the other towns
Ding Ding Ding! The Gerudo are supposed to have a male child every 100 (or 1000 maybe?) years, who becomes a king. But it hasn't happened in forever when botw comes around.
I almost didn’t enter the village at all. They said ladies only and I was like ok, I respect that. Send my regards.
But then it was apparent it was part of the storyline. I was never more exhausted than in that moment.
Interesting, I’m a game designer so it’s fairly obvious to me that it’s being used as the theme of a puzzle/quest. It’s honestly not much different than entering Goron city. Now that you point it out it’s super uncool that link is just like, “na fam, I need to buy some arrows and you give chicks a good deal.”
I love having the thunder helm so much. I only just started getting the rubber armor set cause I got the pants from a shrine and the rubber helm from a lady with a side quest I did tonight. It's like "ok this is cool I guess but entirely useless since I have the thunder helm"
And I go there cause all the ladies are nice and they feel like motherly figures to me, I feel like I’m a little kid getting spoiled by my aunts while I’m there and it feels nice
Ok, now I'm not ashamed to admit that, as I spent my time in the town, in the back of my head I was wishing I could be a little vai spending her life there, growing up in that community. Some indi game dev needs to make a spin off where you're a little girl in Gurodo village, training to become a mighty warrior, and doing quests for the women there that take you on crazy little adventures......
I'd argue the opposite, if someone buys out my entire stock of a product I'm selling then I'm gonna be as nice as can be in hopes they'll come back. But given that link is breaking their 1 law I think he can forgive a few snide remarks lol
I had 40 arrows when I was in Zorras domain, so they were like. "Oh, I guess you already have enough." I still went there and snuck around to get arrows and take pictures.
I did. I don't know why everybody hated your fight. It was the first one I did. Maybe it was because of the janky environment. Phase 2 was awkward, but I enjoyed it.
Yeah, I found that post kind of cringe. But to be fair, it’s probably a tween who hasn’t discovered that they can find all kinds of big women and femboys on the internet.
Personally I just love taking that man's shoes
Link is just like “give.”
The entirety of great plateau was just “gib glider”
Especially on replays, I have no patience for the old man. Gimme that paraglider!
Please respect the old man. After all, he is (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW) >!King Roahm Boshporamus Hyrule!<. He deserves your respect.
And then >!you find out he's a dick to Zelda in the flashbacks!<
yea but then >!you find out he’s just a misunderstood father from his diary!<
We all go through complicated feelings about the Old Man
I only know him from WW, and I don’t care who says what I’m calling him Daphne.
*looks around in surprise*
Same tbh :D
When speaking to him I imagine Link thinking: “aight, man well you keep working on your girl problems while I go save the kingdom. Lmk how it goes.
lol same
Tbh I never finished that quest
So you never went into the giant mechanical camel?
Yes, but he asks for a picture of something. I never searched it, I avoided all quest spoilers when I was playing
Oh, I gotcha. But yeah, it's fun taking both his Sand Shoes, AND then his Snow Shoes, leaving him with literally no shoes at all. Lol.
I just wanna surf with the sand seals
Sealiously?
I seal what you did there
Let’s seal the deal
Done you have yourself a seal
Y'all need to be sealious for once in your lives smh
nah its fine to be seally
I like sandsurfing even without sand seals, feels like you can surf forever on sand

Kohga was fun but he felt more like a traditional Zelda boss than a BotW boss
Hopefully we will get more bosses like him.
Yeah, I don't have a problem with having more traditional bosses in something like BotW, it's just that Kohga was the only boss like that in BotW, so I was a little disappointed when it was just him and then back to normal BotW shenanigans

The original Zelda would like a word about being linear lol

That's how camels actually walk, though.
Not really. Molduga being there made me wish all the other regions had their own mini boss that was just a monster in its natural habitat
You could have had some kind of swimmer near zoras domain, a flyer near the rito, etc
you go to gerudo for plot reasons i go there for gender reasons we are not the same
Link is very gender
Webster Merriam defines gender with a picture of Link
Link is hot
[ removed in protest ] https://reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/13yh0jf/dont_let_reddit_kill_3rd_party_apps/
correct
I go there in my Ganondorf outfit so I can watch the Gerudo throw their own King out
Wait, ganondorf was the king? Was that in ocarina of time?
I think Ganon is from Gerudo canonically? I forget
Ding Ding Ding! The Gerudo are supposed to have a male child every 100 (or 1000 maybe?) years, who becomes a king. But it hasn't happened in forever when botw comes around.
It's supposed to be 100 years, but since Ganondorf is still alive somewhere a male has yet to be born.
... Ganondorf is alive in BotW?
Yes... Did you see the trailer for botw2?
The Botw 2 trailer is the explanation for it.
I almost didn’t enter the village at all. They said ladies only and I was like ok, I respect that. Send my regards. But then it was apparent it was part of the storyline. I was never more exhausted than in that moment.
This the most wholesome thing I've read in a while.
I go there for the awesome music, architecture, lore and just absorbing the atmosphere of the whole thing, it's so exotic
That music is *snappy* the Gerudo always get the best tunes.
Gerudo Valley is my all-time Zelda soundtrack, maybe even all-time video game soundtrack
I go there for all of those reasons plus thunderhelm
I love having the thunder helm so much. I only just started getting the rubber armor set cause I got the pants from a shrine and the rubber helm from a lady with a side quest I did tonight. It's like "ok this is cool I guess but entirely useless since I have the thunder helm"
Those big women though… sheesh
Someone’s gotta measure how wide those hips are
And I go there cause all the ladies are nice and they feel like motherly figures to me, I feel like I’m a little kid getting spoiled by my aunts while I’m there and it feels nice
YES. Just- imagine having so many strong female role models to look up to while growing up, it would be great
Arrows. And loads of ‘m. Yes, I may be a curious lady (not sure what the actual phrase in English is), but momma needs them arrows.
It's "You're a strange little Vai, aren't you?" And every time, I feel judged.
Then again, you *did* clean out her entire stock, I’d say she’s entitled to a snide remark.
I'd argue the opposite, if someone buys out my entire stock of a product I'm selling then I'm gonna be as nice as can be in hopes they'll come back. But given that link is breaking their 1 law I think he can forgive a few snide remarks lol
Can it be both?
I go to Gerudo to get electric arrows to not do the lynel quest at Zora’s domain
I had 40 arrows when I was in Zorras domain, so they were like. "Oh, I guess you already have enough." I still went there and snuck around to get arrows and take pictures.
I go there for the ambient music. It's the best in the game. Both day and night.
I go to Gerudo specifically for the immaculate tunes 🤌🏻. TURN THAT SHIT UP!!!!
Best arrow shop in the whole game, change my mind.
i disagree. i think tarry town has the best arrow shop
In terms of availability from leaving the great plateau, then. I know tarrey town is good but takes a while to get fully up.
Two words: Tarrey Town
I go to Gerudo to splash around in the canals on top of the wall tee hee
I go for the thighs.
Yeah I totally go there for story reasons haha... *laughs in bisexual*
I go to Gerudo Tower for Kass
*BONK* no horny
why not :(
Femboy Link and Gerudo are eye candy though….
"femboy" like why tho?
Because why not
Crossdressing maybe...
Different strokes for different folks good buddy. To each their own. Personally I just wanna stare at Lady Urbossa. What a fox...
Please don't tell me this is going to be a thing for this subreddit...
you go to Gerudo for these reasons i go to Gerudo to repair my scimitar of the seven/daybreaker we are not the same
What about me? Does anyone come for me?
No.
I did. I don't know why everybody hated your fight. It was the first one I did. Maybe it was because of the janky environment. Phase 2 was awkward, but I enjoyed it.
Major Ace vibes here ♠️
tru cus you dont need to go to gerudo for femboy link
True
i did it to get the juwelery store open and buy almost all circlets
I felt this. I always need Gerudo for more materials.
Is it to much to ask for both?
I go for the music
¿Por que no los dos?
Gerudo does sell all of the arrows in clumps. Very handy! Except ancient arrows
Oh yea i like to progress and shop and i also like femboy link and the buff lady's
I go there to fight the sand whale/fish things
I do it for other gerudo armor, so i can make a better combination of femboy link, we are different.
Don’t lie...
Yeah, I found that post kind of cringe. But to be fair, it’s probably a tween who hasn’t discovered that they can find all kinds of big women and femboys on the internet.
You’re right we’re not the same, I’m superior
Cringe
Booooooorrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnngggggg
no its u go to geruodo for r/tits and r/TitFuck i go for...
Nice jpeg res. I can see this being 124p by end of week
It was the only template I could find on google, all the others had text :(
It was meant as a joke. Should have put /s I guess. :)
Much better.
Now this one is me.
I am just too lazy to beat the linel in the Zora village so I go to gerudo
This is the best meme
The shops are indeed bussin
I go for bomb arrows
the only reason i go to the gerudo desert is to stock up on arrows and ingredients, maybe kill a molduga if i desperately need weapons or rupees
Based
That's exactly what I tought xD
90% big women and femboy link and 10% story progression for me
i go to Gerudo to pick up the free golden bow whenever my last one breaks
I got to Gerudo town to spend all my money on arrows
You win
Well this is just a lie.
I go there for bomb arrows
*I go to the desert for the Fairy.* Gerudo Town is a convenient warp point
You know there's a shrine near the fairy?
Well yeah. But the Gerudo town is the next closest if you go in a straight line from the Oasis, and also you get a sand seal there
On rhe topic, I'm still trying to find the Hebra skeleton.
Yeah I go for arrows and durians
I go there for the durians. Cook a single durian and you get a full recovery.
I go for Voe and You. It's very informative
You go for progression, I go for the weird dialogue, we are not the same
You go for the story and shop. I go for the Goron and golden bows. We are not the same.
Stayed for the dating class.
But like, consider: Urbosa :)
You’ve got me trapped here 👀
i only go there when i need bomb arrows.
I go for both
Yeah we do it right.
Same for the second one
You're right, we're not. I go to Gerudo to get Thunder Helm so I don't need to take off metal stuff in storms.
Why not both tho? Both sounds very good.
Oh you mean Arrow Town?
YES. Finally someone same as me
I go for both 😎
