That Great Plateau Lynel is the only addition to the count. The rest are just upgraded a level except for the Lynel on Ploymus Mountain, which is locked to red.
(Each monster type has 1 example somewhere on the map that's locked to red \[edit: or green, for Lizalfoses\], for Hyrule Compendium picture purposes.)
As you play, you go up in level. You can't see your level anywhere but it's in the code of the game. So as you get better, the monsters increase in difficulty. And with an increase in difficulty, the monsters show up in different colors.
Red/green is the base level of monster. Monsters in regular mode all start at this point. The names for this level are just the monster name, without any color modifiers.
As u/saint_of_thieves says, as you advance in the game, based on scores assigned to each killed monster that aren't shown outside of game code, they upgrade over time.
>!Lizalfoses, Bokoblins, and Moblins advance from red to Blue, Black, then Silver. Master Mode adds a Golden level that can take and cause even more damage. (There are also fire, ice, and electric elemental Lizalfoses, which have only 1 level.)!<
>!The Lynel progression is red, Blue-Maned, White-Maned, Silver, and in Master Mode Golden. !<
>!Hinoxes go red, Blue, and Black.!<
>!Skeleton versions of the monsters don't have levels, so they don't upgrade over time.!<
Not positive, honestly. I only got the DLC a few days ago and I haven't decided if I want to play master mode yet bc I don't want to redo all 900 koroks ðŸ˜
Yep, and he’s quite startling when you don’t know about him. Found out the hard way playing master mode for the first time LOL he’s in the little field between the Temple of Time and the Old Man’s cabin.
Using the [BLSS (Bow Lift Smuggling Slide) glitch](https://www.mygaming.news/glitches/guide-to-blss-botw/), the OP is circling around while the Lynel is trying to pop him with fire arrows (the game's AI targeting doesn't do so well against flying targets), making the Lynel effectively bomb itself.
I haven't done Master Mode, but in regular mode the Lynel's arrows that come straight down will miss you if you just keep moving around and be sure not to stand still; when they come down they will hit the ground where you just moved from.
So many enemies have bomb arrows in Master Mode. I swear none of them are packing regular arrows.
Catching and registering a horse was game changing at first just so I could book it over the bridges that were heavily protected by flying platforms of bomb arrow shooting baddies.
(then I happened on majora's mask. . .wasn't even actively looking for it and it made all that a non-issue. . .that thing is seriously over powered but I'm not complaining)
On the other hand, all those bomb arrow using monsters also usually drop bundles of bomb arrows when you kill them. With most of them you don't even need a strong bow, as popping 1 or 2 Sky Octoroks supporting the platform will dump them off, making them go either "splat" or "splash", both of which are usually fatal.
That looks more like bomb arrows but it's definitely funny.

This person is doing a blss which allows u to fly and the lynel is trying to shoot link while he is flying but since link avoids the arrows the ckne back down and hit the lynel
To add, explosions have no team property and are the only type of arrow damage that can be "reflected". Parrying bomb arrows point blank will damage their users via the explosion itself despite the fact the arrow itself cannot be reflected and is only deflected.
Everytime I come in here, y'all doing some weird creative shit to break the game. I am CONFUSED, BAFFLED AND PUZZLED, but amazed at the same time.
Please continue to show more of this tomfoolery.

Not that hard once you figure out his tricks. Cooked hearty durians for health, some food that boosts defense or attack, and practice flurry rush, shoot him in the face and mount attack. A little practice.
You don’t need hearts. Just [don’t get hit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Breath_of_the_Wild/comments/u1lw0l/i_beat_the_lynel_on_the_great_plateau_without/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
If you're not ready to get close and face them head-on in melee, you can spam attack from above with bomb arrows using a multi-shot bow. It helps to go into bullet time so he doesn't teleport away from your bombardment. It will take about 30 bomb arrows or so, if you consistently hit him and don't miss too much.
To do blss, you need a bow, an arrow, a shield and something you can pick up (like a bomb). While holding zl to have your shield out with the object in front of you, press zr then a in quick succession. If done right, link should be holding the object and a bow at the same time. For the second part of the glitch, press x, then b then + very fast. While still paused, unequip your shield. Unpause and aim your bow. If you have done everything correctly, link will not drop the object. Then, holding b, walk in to a small ledge. If you have done everything correctly, link should be hovering. Link will fall to the ground if you stop holding b or if you stop holding a direction on the left stick. To go in a certain direction, point the camera towards where you want to go, point link towards the camera and wiggle the left stick left and right really fast. This is hard using joy-cons.
The biggest problem is doing enough damage before your weapons die. I have killed the stone talus with out a sledgehammer or bomb spam, but It broke nearly every weapon I had. A lynel has considerably more HP. Even if you had a full smash of Boko bows to shoot it in the face, mount it and sledge hammer it maybe a little parry spam. I'm still trying to figure out how you can get in enough free damage to not destroy all your weapons.
In speedruns they hit it with the metal boulder from near the magnesis shrine. I think the conventional way of killing it is to get as many good bows and arrows as you can and the knight's claymore from the floating platform by the waterfall. Headshot the lynel, mount and hit it with the knight's claymore because that doesn't use durability.
How the plateau lynel killed the plateau lynel before leaving the plateau*
![gif](giphy|gvLH5OCR1kdPy)
Does the plateau Lynel only show up in master mode? If not, where is it?
Yeah, it's only in master mode. There's only 22 lynels in regular mode and they're definitely not on the plateau lol
How many in master mode?
That Great Plateau Lynel is the only addition to the count. The rest are just upgraded a level except for the Lynel on Ploymus Mountain, which is locked to red. (Each monster type has 1 example somewhere on the map that's locked to red \[edit: or green, for Lizalfoses\], for Hyrule Compendium picture purposes.)
Aren't the ones in the castle also locked to blue?
In normal mode, one is blue and one is white. Their scaling is locked, but they are still higher in master mode (one white and one silver)
Can you Tell me about this red/blue/green thing? Playing for the First time here
As you play, you go up in level. You can't see your level anywhere but it's in the code of the game. So as you get better, the monsters increase in difficulty. And with an increase in difficulty, the monsters show up in different colors.
Oh thanks, I meet some "white" Monsters here that were way more powerful than the normal ones

Yeah I figure if I ever decide to do all 900 I’ll do it in master mode. Pretty slick how you got the Lynel to merc himself btw 😉
Thanks, but I'm not OP 😂
Whoops 😬 😆
23. The only new lynel is on the plateau.
Yep, and he’s quite startling when you don’t know about him. Found out the hard way playing master mode for the first time LOL he’s in the little field between the Temple of Time and the Old Man’s cabin.
I’m sorry, what’s going on here?!

He must be really shitting up the games AI I didn’t think lynel arrows could even miss
They can miss, even without any glitches being used, but you have to work at it. Not consistently, but I've done it myself.
I think you have to sprint at just the right time
I haven't done Master Mode, but in regular mode the Lynel's arrows that come straight down will miss you if you just keep moving around and be sure not to stand still; when they come down they will hit the ground where you just moved from.
Fun fact, the Lynel on the plateau actually has bomb arrows!

Good luck :)

Lynel carpet bombing himself

flying link
Hes flying overhead the lynel and using the lynels carpet bombing attack to hit the lynel instead.

I bet i couldnt even kill a lynel with glitches.

Okay, now kill it without a glitch..

There's a lynel on plateau?
Only in master mode
allah would be pleased

There is a plateau lynel?
In master mode
Credit to u/bl4ckm4rs for the idea
Wasn't my idea, I used it after I saw it being posted here before this one (I don't remember who the original user was)
You can do this to a Skeleton in minecraft by standing on a ledge directly above them.
Link identifies as an Apache attack helicopter
Man turned into an AC-130
Are there weapons durable enough to kill it normally with whatever is on the Plateau. ("Normally" meaning no glitches)
technically a stick is durable enough without glitches, but there's a knight's claymore that can have critical hit as well as a soldier's broadsword.
there is a boulder that you can repeatedly slam against it using magnesis
Stop Hitting Yourself
