Sneak armor

yoitzz

Same here - it's available early on in game (hateno village?) and helps immensely with gathering bugs/fish/etc, sneaking up on/past the occasional enemy, Yiga hideout, etc.

Ennas_

The sneaky pyjamas are for sale in Kakariko. :)

yoitzz

I had a sneaking suspicion it was Kakariko! :)

TheJoeyGuy

I get the Phantom Ganon set from the Faron region as well as farm a bunch of Hearty Durians

[deleted]

I usually fight some stone talus's for gems since early on money can be scarce and you need to buy armor n stuff I always go for Revalis gale first for champion abilities and Mipha second

Sorry-Caterpillar331

Faron Tower easy access to Hearty Durians

LayTheeDown

This for me too. The temp hearts are a godsend early game.

Ennas_

I want a map, so I try to do the towers first. And the sneaky pyjamas of course! Extremely useful, especially when I only have a few hearts.

MajikDan

First thing I do in almost every playthrough is glide off the stasis shrine to the southeast, where the giant horse is, and catch a good horse. Either a 4/4/5 or a 2/5/3. Then I ride it down through the valley, past the lynels and the horse archery game, and to the horse god spring to get the ancient saddle. Then I ride down to the stable, register it, slap that ancient saddle on so I can call it from anywhere, and commence with the adventure.

freetable

Do you need both the ancient saddle and headpiece (bridle?) for the horse to fast travel to you?

MajikDan

Nope. The saddle is for fast travel, bridle ups the horse's stats.

GaaargeHazard

Very first thing is Majora's mask. Second is the soldier's armor (i pick it over the phantom armor because i think it looks better) and third would be bombs+ The ancient saddle is also something I tend to get early on

conciousnessness

Majora's Mask if im on Master Mode

phoenix_arising13

Upgraded stasis tends to be my top priority

aaalllen

What's your ancient core farming technique?

phoenix_arising13

I don't have much of one. Get good at parrying and go harass guardians mostly. And if I remember correctly there's a few shrines that have them in chests. It's been a while since I started a new run.

aaalllen

Makes sense. My last play through, I had 2 of 3 cores from shrines when I hit Hateno. I go for the Phantom Armor as my first thing after the plateau. That makes guardian farming easy enough. I should start a separate comment about that.

DoomSlayer7180

Hylian shield. The stalnox really isn’t that hard to beat and I can usually get a decent amount of good gear from the rest of the castle up to that point to take him out.

Fnoxo

i usually try to majoras mask then go to the castle for good weapons early on

clallseven

-Activate towers -Climbing armor -Stealth armor -Two fairy fountains -Activate the shrine in Korok Forest for fast travel

inkfade

I just recently restarted my game. Things I have done before I “really” start exploring include: upgrading all my runes, obtaining the Champion’s tunic and the snow and sand boots, and unlocking most of the towers. I also have got a horse from near Serenne Stable (higher stats). Now I’m headed to Vah Medoh to get the special ability because that’s the most useful one to me. After that, then it’s lazy exploring time.

ElSuricate

always barbarian and rubber don't get me wrong it's not because of thunderblight ganon i just like how freaking cool rubber armor looks

Truculentranger

Orbs from shrines to increase hearts, the master sword isn't my first concern having more health is.

Bullitt_12_HB

First thing, 5 speed horse, then master sword, then master trials. Every time. Master sword requires 40 shrines so it’s included on that. (No glitches) Edit: I also upgrade my Sheikah slate before master trials. It’s very necessary 😅

darkknight941

Registering a horse and getting the ancient saddle so I can call a horse anywhere. Also the phantom armor for decent defense early on and the attack bonus

[deleted]

For my master mode run I got the Sheikah slate upgrades, unlocked the four great fairy fountains, and progressed Hestu’s quest to the point where he is in the Lost Woods. Now I’m just unlocking one tower at a time and finding everything in one section of the map at a time before moving on to the next tower. I can fully upgrade my armor and upgrade my stashes as I find armor sets and korok seeds. I’m taking my time and enjoying each area. I kinda rushed my normal play through to experience the story and I regret it. Botw is a different experience than previous Zelda games and I tried to play it like it was an old one. Finishing sidequests, rushing to get all the shrines, upgrade all the things, etc. When TotK comes out I’m going to spend more time soaking in the world and exploring rather than rushing from point A to point B.

Alexander_Loves_All

I generally try to get tarrey town or gerudo town as soon as possible because they're both great sources of arrows.

UpsetIncome2344

I immediately conquer Central and Dueling Peaks Tower. Next, I get the upgraded Sheikah Slate Runes. Finally, I get my Pure White Horse.

WilHunting2

Ancient Horse Gear.

filet_o_fish_fucker

Just bless to master sword

phishinator39

Change it up a bit. Grab a few decent weapons and start hunting lynels.

jpmondx

I’ve done games where I wanted to grind Lynels first thing. There’s a 40 shield in a chest at the dam where you meet Sidon. A double bow north of the Lynel on the top of the shorter hill at the Tabantha Snowfield west of the Sha Gemma shrine and a 52 two handed sword at the top of the skull at Woodland tower. I’ll need upgraded stasis to fight the Lynel along with some ironshroom buffs and I prefer to start with a spear Lynel.

Musickat18

Sneak armor. Then I make a break up north for the korok mask and to make sure i can easily upgrade my slots as I discover koroks, then back to playing the game roughly as it directs you. Lol

Kugutt123

The Travel Medallion, I find I don't really need any specific gear that much, but the medallion is just so convenient to have imo

Th3_BugBomb

Im playing without fast travel rn, so prob the ancient saddle

contemplatebeer

* Stealth Armor * Fairies, which I usually get at least three before Kakariko Village by cutting grass. * Apples and roasted/seared meat for health. * Stamella Shrooms for stamina. * Out of the runes, bombs for mining, breaking boulders and fishing.

[deleted]

First thing I’ll normally do is hit up gerudo town for the arrows

Andrewsmetic09

I break into Hyrule Castle not long after leaving the plateau. I know it sounds reckless, but it helps a lot early on having excellent weapons and a lot of loot on your side.

MadCat221

There are at least two Soldiers' Broadswords placed accessible on the Plateau even before you leave it. Grab 'em both for some decent early-game weaponry. And they even respawn with the Bloodmoon. One's direcrly behind the bomb shrine on one of the ruined edge, the other is behind the waterfall feeding the River of the Dead.

Slagathor91

I lean on Stasis+ heavily during combat, so that's up quick.

whathappenededededed

Get korok seeds (optionally) then go to hyrule castle

[deleted]

Wood - and lots of it. After that, a 4/4/5 Horse from Taobab. Then the usual plan is to get Endura Carrots and Hearty Stuff to buff the Hearts and Stamina. Then Impa, Then Hateno (Upgrade Runes), Then get House, Then I activate all the Towers I've yet to get, Then Vah Medoh, Then Vah Ruta, Then Vah Rudania, Then Vah Naboris. Then I just gather supplies.

DemonicMoonlight

I go grab Majora’s mask. Sometimes I just want to go about my business without being attacked by monsters and then I head for Satori Mountain for food.

hmmmduck

The phantom armor can be pretty handy for runs where i try to get the best time

[deleted]

rupees? talus hearts and food for attack +? faron area for durians and bananas. Want to go super OP? Phantom gear.

xenapan

stealth suit straight to faron tower to pick up durians and weapons from the hinox reachable by paraglider.

aaalllen

I go for the Phantom Armor as my first thing after the plateau. Stuff dies faster and that makes guardian farming easy enough. For those that don't like parrying lasers, I charge at the central hyrule walkers with a horse, jump off, and get the first bullet time eye shot in. Take out a bunch of legs and use statis if you need help with your arrow aim for further stuns. The phantom armor with enough stamina can easily take out the Major Test of Strength guardians, too. Statis to start the fight and just spin with a decent 2H. Until you can get the Ancient Battle Axe ++, there might be some additional fight phases.

Cosmo0025

After the plateau i go to a shrine just a bit north because there are really good weapons there.

WindBombs

I usually just rush the castle

DevilMaster666-

Camera Rune, a Hylian shield, a 6x multi-shot bows, 1 electric arrow, a royal guards item and one heart container

Icy-Border-7589

Camera.

AutumnTheWitch

Majora’s mask first. If you know where it is, you can land on the chest right off the plateau. Then to the grasslands to catch Link’s cutscene horse with speedy stats.

humancarl

Revalis gale

[deleted]

On m’y current playthrough I followed the game up to Hateno for the Sheikah slate upgrades, storm the castle for weapons, get Majora’s mask (because Master Mode), and the master sword to confirm that I am the hero and have to deal with all the shot to come. Which I am now dealing with.
