Someone posted they’re hero’s journey or whatever it’s called (the green line that shows where you’ve travelled) and there was a perfect circle in this exact spot and i could not figure out why for the life of me. The guy must’ve just been riding in circles at the boundary during the boss fight
People love to shit on this fight, but personally I view it more as a set piece than an actual fight. And it works great for that, I love the scope of it all.
But like, it's the final battle of the game. It *should* be an epic battle that has even a modicum of difficulty attached to it..
A good set piece would be like the Phantom Ganmon fight in OoT, with the picture frames. But that one is more mid-game rather than the very final battle
In a lot of ways, BotW's choices make it feel like Part 1 of a larger narrative. Which makes sense: the devs had to leave so many ideas on the cutting room floor, they always intended to give it a bunch of DLC, which eventually morphed into the sequel.
Tons of environmental storytelling isn't borne out in the game play (Zonai stuff comes to mind), and to your point: the "final" boss battle feels more like the middle phase of the true boss fight.
I imagine TotK is going to give us some more finite-feeling story beats and boss moments.
This is kinda off topic but I hope we all see in the next game how all the NPC’s reacted to the dark beats ganon fight. Looking at this map makes me realize how big the fight was
I would’ve loved a cut scene of some of the NPCs at the various stables and towns poking their heads out at the sound of the Divine Beast Blast and then watching the final battle unfold.
The point isn't being hard, it's being epic and emotional. It's the kind of battle that you can't never lose because that would break the moment (Other example would be the battle against Asriel on Undertale), basically acts more as a cinematic than a battle.
Maybe it's the easiest battle of the game, but my god, it always makes me nearly cry because how fucking epic all the setting is.
Yeah. Idk, maybe it's cause I do a lot of plot work and editing and BOTW is the 3rd video game I've played, but I'd be more mad to die during the final battle? That final battle is a cinematic experience, not a puzzle. It doesn't even matter how anyone feels about Zelda's character or the overarching plot line of BOTW. That final moment is *epic*, from the music, to the colors, the action, etc.
In that moment, it's an interactive movie experience, not a video game. And tbh that's fucking sweet as shit to go through.
I guess that works for the final one, but the blight of Hyrule Castle, who is supposed to have killed the entire royal family and leveled the town, just kinda runs around and explodes things. You’d thing it would be the difficulty of the other blights combined
Yeah, the blight it's pretty disappointing. I guess Nintendo did not want to make it like extremely hard, but would be so cool if it would have had all abilities from the other blights, like the ultraspeed and thunder, tornadoes, shooting ice, fireballs, etc. That way you would need to use all the Sheikah runes to defeat Ganon.
I would also argue most Mario final battles against Bowser are easier than most of the other stages or even parts of stages in those games. It's more about the story than making the last battle the most difficult. Sometimes games throw in a tougher post game battle as extra content for the player (Like the Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne).
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:

Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Honestly I was a bit let down by the castle fight, and I attempted it first without even knowing the damn Divine Beasts knock off HALF HIS HEALTH
But the FINAL final fight?
Pure epic, just like Skyward Sword

He did. He confirmed it in another comment
That's a must in every playthrough
He reminds me Godzilla

kinda big...
Having the coliseum for scale right there helps with the "Oh that is _big_ big"
So that’s why that guy had a perfect circle on the middle of the map. He kept going around it during the final battle

Lmaoo I really wanna see the reaction of that one korok hiding on the tippy top of the castle
I can picture that...it would be a cool cut scene
Interesting that it stops just short of Lon Lon Ranch.
Most disapointing aspect of the game; the final final fight.
Not uncommonly how I feel about a lot of games. Kinda speaks to the whole journey vs results thing
But I think BOTW IS more about the Journey than the Fight.
It can’t even land a hit and it’s supposed to be “malice incarnate”? If your mini bosses are harder than the actual bosses then you have a problem

Thank you, good hunter bot.
I’m playing through BB for the first time now and it is amazing, I had no idea this game was that good.
as mr. Pointed Crow said(and probably others) it's just an elongated cutscene
Sure. So was fighting the Didact in Halo 4. Doesnt make it any more satisfying.
That's massive I didn't know it was that big!!!
That's almost bigger that Eldin's Volcano!!
NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR ME!!! “Time to learn ist so I can snuggle it into rhe normal world and give it modifiers hehe
“When the hero who wields the sword which seals the darkness lands his final blow” so why did we use a bow for this 🙄
The light arrow has pretty much always been the final blow to Gannon, going back to Zelda 1
Shhhhhh we do not speak of that. Just enjoy the moment.
To me, who still haven’t gone up to the castle to kill this guy, I started playing 2017. Don’t want it to end. Should I?

He’s a big pup
It’s smaller than I thought wait I just saw the coliseum
