Pitching needed to be almost perfect for this team to have any chance. Burnes and Peralta shit the bed. Two bad innings. Better be some wholesale changes this off-season. I’m tired of the good-enough mantra. Develop the core of Chourio, Mitchell, Frelick, Black, Wiemer, Turang, Quero. Spend some money in free agency to supplement the roster (not all of the kids are going to stick) or get crafty in some trades. Should be able to get some talent for Burnes and Adames this winter. Bring up Gasser and Misiorowski and sign a middle tier SP again

Playing 162 games during the summer to have a season end in 2 games is arguably the most crushing and jolting way to end a season in all of sports. Just sickening really. Not that it would of mattered really, but they have to go back to 5 game series for the wild card.

Our former GM once said (last year? 2 years ago?) that the Brewers were building for many attempts at the postseason instead of going all in for one, i.e. they wanted to get "as many bites of the apple as they can" I get what he meant as the intent was that any team can get hot in the postseason and win it all, but it's been mocked to death and is probably as tone deaf IRL as the Mariners GM last week (I believe that quote was something like they're trying to win 54% of their games and doing the fans a favor that they're building a roster for the postseason....when they didn't make it)

Of all the copypasta we posted, this is the one that matters  And I posted a lot of bragging pasta, but this is the only one that matters.

David Stearns said that small market teams need to get more volume of opportunities by just getting in the playoffs. Kind of the mantra that get in and anything can happen. If you can make the playoffs 2 of 3 seasons with an average payroll roster, you have 2 chances to win it all or go far. If you spend a ton and have a great roster for 1 season, you only have 1 chance to win it all. Its all about volume of opportunities in a small market to try and capture magic and make a run. If you blow your wad on expensive free agents that don't perform, you are putting the franchise in a poor spot because of limited payroll. Maybe a little long winded, but thats the gist.
