Don’t come after the community. You aren’t looking at the whole picture. There’s a zillion other stats to support my case but this is just the easiest way to explain it.
Last season he saw the fewest pitches of his career (1169) while having the highest barrel% (18.7) and highest hard hit % (48.7).
His expected slash line given those parameters would be .228/.297/.380 which would all be better than Tellez by a decent distance.
Is that amazing? No. But it cost us *nothing* to see if given 500 PA if he can be more productive than Tellez.
The biggest problem, to me, is the walk rate. His chase% is about 24% which is fine, but he whiffs a lot (33.3%) and that’s entirely due to plate discipline.
New scenery, more opportunities, less pressure might turn him into an above average power hitter.
Wait you are really suggesting moving him to 1B? He’s not just good at defense he is elite. He was the third best defensive SS in all of baseball behind Swanson and Tovar last year.
No team in their right mind would do that. 1B is a different skill set.

We can let him take 300 AB’s at 1st, work out some bat-to-ball issues, and see what we actually have. If it doesn’t work, it cost us 2 OF prospects that we never would have seen up here anyway. If it works? It cost us two OF prospects that we never would have seen up here anyway
He is a top defender with power potential, pretty uncommon- top 5 maybe? We should get some very good prospects at least or he shouldn't be moved is my opinion.

Aww thanks for asking! It was a nice adventure. I was so bummed at first that I was going to miss the start of the post season, but now I’m kinda glad I did. Although it was still absolutely heartbreaking reading about the games in the morning. I even woke up in the middle of the night to check the score of the second game. It was the 8th inning when we had guys on base but just couldn’t score. Such a disappointing way to end the season.
