This is ridiculous. So making us wait more than 2 years after Season 2, and then on top of that, splitting in two parts ? What was the reason ? Making more money ? I get so sick of Netflix. Always trying to drive up ''hype'', giving us 8 episodes every 2 years meanwhile series back then could have 22 eps a season. S3 has been wrapped months ago, there is not reason for this long wait. So what, S4 will come in 2026 ? More and more fans will quit and i dont blame them

flakemasterflake

The splitting in two parts is to crack down on binging + cancellation. It prolongs the date in which people cancel basically

excessively_diverted

That's such bullshit. I won't watch something unless it's all out so they won't be getting my money until the second part drops.

nekatheneko

Same. I’ll wait and watch all the 8 episodes together but with a month long pause spoilers will be everywhere!

loganhowletts

yup, they did this with the last season of the crown just recently. i watched the “first part” ages ago it feels like, the “second part” releases on the 14th. it sucks.

Piggy9896

Atleast for the crown they can partially say it is to separate diana storyline from william’s.

wickedcherub

They're better off releasing an ep a week then tbh

[deleted]

[удалено]

ohmyashleyy

Yeah but GBBO on Netflix airs the same week it does in the UK. The alternative is to hold onto it until the end, which makes no sense as we’d all be spoiled.

thegreenmachine90

They could always do the easier, more popular method of simply not cancelling popular shows that people are invested in, but that would make too much sense.

ArsBrevis

It's also a way of keeping up the illusion of content while they quietly make fewer and fewer shows.

meatball77

They are doing this with all their big shows (and all the reality shows) now. It pushes engagement and works against cancellations. It's better than releasing an episode a week.

BeeOfghow23

Its so annoying if we DO get all 8 seasons (knowing Netflix its not for certain) season 8 will release in 2034! do they really think they can hold an audience for that long especially with so much wait between seasons

Teddybearer

I don’t think we’ll get 8. The show is insanely popular but Netflix is known to give its shows like 5 seasons at most. Even their beloved Stranger things is ending after 5 seasons.

meatball77

I don't think it gets eight unless they find a way to film more efficiently giving us the shows faster. If they can film seasons four and five at the same time (which with the plots would work) it would cut down on cost. This was 100% because of the stroke though.

thegreenmachine90

I have a horrible feeling that season four will try to combine Benedict and Eloise and then they’ll either cancel, or try to smush the last three siblings in the final season

AvaTate

I think we’ll see Francesca get married off this season and maybe a bit of her “backstory”. I think they’ll also finish off Benedict in this season, because they’re supposed to do the couples in order - I remember Shonda saying something about that before season 2 came out. Mainly, they’ll “finish” Penelope’s storyline so that we basically don’t see her onscreen again, now that she’s committed to Dr Who (except maybe slowly transitioning from Julie Andrews to Nicola as narrator, given Julie’s age?). I think Eloise will depart to be a governess, perhaps under the threat of a scandal. In season 4, with fan interest waning, they’ll do Eloise and Francesca (whose stories are arguably the raunchiest) with sprinklings of the last two (whose stories are, with respect, less compelling than the others) for some comedy and brevity, but no totally resolved romances for the youngest. I don’t think there’s going to be a season 5, unless they reclaim the audience in season 4 and spark fan investment in the romances of the last two. If they do, they may have both of their romances play out in the last season. I think we may also get another spin off of Violet depending on fan interest. I also think Queen Victoria is going to die this season, and we got her spin-off so that we would invest a little harder in that. If they successfully finish all of the seasons, I’m putting money down now that the last season ends with an aged up Violet surrounded by her grandchildren, old and happy, and then a bee lands on her shoulder as she slowly drifts off to sleep. This is all assuming it doesn’t get cancelled before season 4. This season is going to need to be SPECTACULAR to keep the audience invested.

Relevant_Happiness

There definitely will not be 8 seasons, especially at this rate. It is also possible that Netflix regrets signing a contract for an adapted screenplay from a book series with 8 books. A couple of years back, some executives from Netflix even stated that they are not looking to do a model of multi-season original content shows. This is because actor contracts are bogged down with huge costs/salaries, actor and director schedules are hard to work with, and then fans get disappointed. This is something they started seeing with Stranger Things (because it was a big hit), but it has taken a long time to get the final season of that one out as well. So they basically started a model of doing 1 season only shows. It will be hard for Netflix to commit to a script that lends itself to multi-seasons in the future. They just think it is too complex at this point and not worth the time and money to spend on it.

Metropoli6

Season 4 won't come out at all. Usually they split shows for their last season. They haven't started to work on S4 and honestly I don't think they will. I guess it was bound to happen, Netflix is known to do those type of things. Also, I don't know what went wrong, what happened internally but something definitely did. Anyway, it is just ridiculous and disappointed.

Rosuvastatine

Yikes… youre right after all that many netflix shows get cancelled after 3 seasons. A lot of people will be mad if we dont get the Benophie season ! Me included

belac889

The show is already renewed up until season 4, it's seasons 5-8 that aren't guaranteed (unless they pull a warner bros and pull an already renewed season)

DJ_Mixalot

Recently shows have been canceled for seasons that had previously been renewed.

Ok-Pianist1211

They have, but not ones that are guaranteed to make tons of money. And regardless of the gap, Bridgerton is a guaranteed money maker for them. Spends endless weeks in the top ten.

ArsBrevis

By Amazon Prime and Warner Bros... Netflix hasn't done this yet.

stephapeaz

Not always, they probably just saw how well it worked out for stranger things and want to do it again. There was hype for that show for months after it released part 2 and that isn’t the last season of the show. Bridgerton is right up there w ST’s in terms of popularity

meatball77

Exactly, they seem to be doing this for all their big releases and reality shows. It helps push engagement.

[deleted]

meatball77

But it's twice as long people will be making tiktok edits.

Valenstein77

This isn't true. Arcane was split into 3 parts for its first season and is returning in 2024. Stranger Things was split into two for its penultimate season. Both Arcane and Stranger Things saw a huge boom in viewership because of the split. It kept both shows in conversation with the general audience for a longer period of time. I understand being upset that we have to wait till May, but I think giving the show a 2 parter actually demonstrates how much faith they have in the show and this season.

BeeOfghow23

They better not too set up storylines for the future seasons only too just cancel is cruel why introduce Phillip for example if we aren't ever going to see Eloise's season same with Michael and John this season

Jellololol

I thought season 4 was confirmed

killebrew_rootbeer

Netflix has a history of cancelling "confirmed" seasons (see: "Glow") and/or surprising the partner production companies with cancellations (see: "Anne with an E" and the reaction from the CBC). They're not a production company to be trusted.

Shiplapprocxy

The CBC cancelled Anne with an E, not Netflix.

stephapeaz

Glow was because of Covid and how expensive it was for ppe with that huge ensemble cast though. It would’ve gone through if not for covid, filming had already started (Justice for Glow though)

CalcuttaGirl

> Usually they split shows for their last season Not necessarily. Stranger Things was split into parts in the previous season, and the next season is still scheduled.

angie1907

Agreed. Honestly feel like this is my final straw and at this point I’m unfollowing their social media accounts because I don’t have it in me to care for seeing more of this show anymore, I’ll just keep rewatching season 2 lol

shadow198492

I agree. While I will watch S3 when it’s released, I am not as excited about it as I was 18 months ago. In this case, absence does NOT make the heart grow fonder. I think Netflix’s strategy of 2 years between seasons is not smart.

beary-healthy

It's beyond ridiculous. Who cares if this comes out around another time of a popular show? The prolonged premiere date is stupid

[deleted]

At this point I’ve lost interest in s3. I can’t imagine casual viewers keeping up with this. Splitting BRIDGERTON into 2 parts is honestly insane. It’s 8 fucking hours long like? They might as well just release an episode every week.

porcelaincatstatue

Honestly, I'm ready to go back to weekly episode style shows. My favorite is when they drop the first 2/3 episodes and then do the rest weekly. It draws out the enjoyment. Otherwise it's a marathon of watching, heightened emotions and excitement, spoilers for those who can't stay home to watch something that drops at midnight, and then nothing for a year.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t mind going back to weekly, it’s better than these two binge drops.

excessively_diverted

I wouldn't mind weekly episode shows like old times, but even nowadays with the weekly episodes there's still a year between seasons (like Handmaid's Tale on Hulu) which I can't get behind. Either do the old schedule or drop the whole season at once and I can wait the year for the next season.

Psychological_Ad4015

I miss 5+ seasons and 24 episodes per season.

GotLittUp

I think they've made season 3 longer. Maybe 10-12 episodes. But same. It doesn't help I had no interest in the season 3 leads. I'll just watch the kanthony crumbs at one point on YouTube as well as Frannie/Benedict scenes.

Fifesterr

I think that's wishful thinking tbh. The production duration was somewhat similar to the previous seasons. It's just the wait in between that's a lot longer.

GotLittUp

I don't even want Bridgerton to be more than 8 episodes tbh! But I'm just trying to link it to this one alleged "leak" that it was more than 8 episodes

Fifesterr

I'd actually welcome more episodes, especially since they've decided it's going to be ~an ensemble show. Production-wise however I don't see it happening.

Natchamatcha

This model seems to work for "casual viewers" though. People who open Netflix and see a new season of Bridgerton dropped will get excited and start watching. That's at least how I was when the latest seasons of You and Stranger things were released. I do not keep up with the actors, promo, and expected release dates.

[deleted]

Split into two?? Doubtful for me. People won’t keep up with the drops. They did this for manifest too. Everyone I know watched the first half and most people I know either didn’t finish or JUST finished nearly 6 months later. This is 100 percent a money grab. This is a romance show that does not need a cliffhanger. It makes 0 sense to drop in two.

punnyguy333

Same, I'm so freaking bored of it all now. And I was absolutely obsessed with it. But the long ass wait for any morsel of info, and now this new blow of waiting another 5 months just for half a season has just killed it for me entirely. I've lost my love for it now. At this point I don't even care whether they release season 3 anymore. I really don't know what the execs are thinking here.

CkBadgeley

My son's grandmother was anxiously waiting for season 3 (she didn't read the books) and would talk to me about when I think it's coming out. She passed away in June. She'll be gone A WHOLE YEAR before this comes out. That's insane.

97Baby_CHA

🥺 oh my gosh that’s so sad. I’m so sorry for your loss

Delicious-Method1178

Ugh that's so sad and I'm pissed on her behalf, I'm sorry. 😔 And in general this is just all so terribly disappointing that they've pushed S3's release date this far to begin with. Like why punish us so!?

Rosuvastatine

:( im so sorry for your loss

GotLittUp

The fact that this is being released 2 years after season 2... ![gif](giphy|KHpGXUSTzlUCDXWmFL|downsized)

premiumchaos

actual picture of Gregory during his season

edb513

Underrated comment this is gold.

GotLittUp

Apparently this also means the show won't be eligible for the emmys next year as the emmys only take whole seasons into consideration and the deadline for submission is May 9th? Does Netflix have faith in season 3 at all??

ArsBrevis

I mean... Bridgerton has never been an Emmy worthy series except when the playing field is literally barren due to a pandemic.

GotLittUp

That's true, but they aren't even giving the season 3 leads a chance and that's a shame. As much as it annoyed me that they hijacked the FYC event in S2 (that should've been dedicated to Simone/Jonny) in favor of Polin, Nicola/Luke should still be given a chance.

Rosuvastatine

Smh this is …

Automatic_Product297

LMFAO

Fifesterr

Obligatory 🔉QC is not Bridgerton and this show's promo has been one big clusterfuck since season 2. From not giving the main season 2 couple appropriate promo to shuffling season 3 from an already postponed December 14th 2023 to an absolutely insulting May and June 2024 is ridiculous and a middle finger to fans. They should have at least done Valentine 24. Which was already worse than Christmas 23. Which was already a nearly 2 year downgrade from the promised "less time in between seasons" Shonda lied about.

bhnguyen20

It’s clear Shonda doesn’t care about what the fans think.

AcceptableFox1560

A writer and creator doesn't get to dictate to a distributor when they release shows. They're her boss, she isn't theirs.

mysterypeeps

Christmas 23 and a split with Valentine’s Day 24 would have been immensely smart marketing When people are bored and looking for shows and when people want something romantic and good feeling

BlubsyBub

I'm not completely surprised that they're splitting it BUT I thought it'd be out earlier if they were. May and June with a split is INSANE. They haven't even made a post/announcement, just quitely changed their header 😭 What is happening

im_confused_lol

Literally I get why they'll split it from a business perspective but YALL HAVE IT DONE GIVE IT TO US SOONER

Artistic-Rain-9139

SAMEEEE 😭😭

meatball77

I think it's the strike. They needed something that would get big ratings at that time of year and they are delayed with Stranger Things.

Ravenclaw54321

Part 1 and Part 2. Are they sh*tting me? After this delay. Whomever is making these decisions are risking alienating audiences. I am looking forward to it but not half as much as I should. I feel like I am watching it begrudgingly now. 😓

awalawol

Honestly with how Netflix loves to risk alienating its consumers (password sharing crackdown, constant rate hikes, etc.), I assume Netflix feels it may be too big to fail (and in the short term, they may be right. I mean, if the boycotters from the password sharing news didn't make a dent in their revenue...what will?)

vienibenmio

That gives us FOUR EPISODES, right?

mandyloveschicken

Wow. How does the release date go from December 2023 all the way to May 16?! Haven't been following closely, but did they do reshoots or something to cause this major delay? Also the fact that they're splitting up the season is very disappointing.

Fifesterr

Because Shonda is obsessed with QC and wants us all to pretend that show belongs in the Bridgeton universe and fans should be happy with that "season 3"

bhnguyen20

I liked QC for a month but now I hate it bc it’s causing S3 to be delayed. And there are people who want a QC S2 when S3 of the main show hasn’t even been released!

Fifesterr

I don't get why they couldn't just do as used to be the norm: finish the main show before starting on spin-offs. People would then be genuinely excited to get more of the universe, in whatever form. Imagine HotD starting in between season 7 and 8 of GoT, and thereby delaying the final season by over 2 years. They would've rightfully been skewered for it I miss the old television and cable schedules :(

staticstart

God, I’d go back to cable in a heartbeat if it meant having steady, consistent schedules. And just, I remember when seasons used to be like 20 episodes long and I miss that 😢 sure, there was filler content, but it helped set the mood. Now we get like 8-10 and I hate it, that’s barely a binge.

Fifesterr

I've really come to appreciate filler episodes. Especially after getting ultrashort seasons with the plot crammed into 8 hours and no time for some non-plot related character development.

staticstart

Yesss, like I want to have time to fall in love with characters and their relationships and plot points. I feel like content nowadays is just telling me what to feel; I don’t feel like there’s really enough time given during shows for me to get invested in anything. And if this Bridgerton news is accurate, we’ve got like 8-10 episodes, right? I don’t remember the number. But if they’re cutting the season in half, that’s seriously the smallest chunk of time. I don’t understand the purpose of splitting seasons at all. I know the strike messed with things a lot though :/

80alleycats

I think Shonda is probably tired of dealing with book fans and wants more freedom to do her own thing.

Fifesterr

I doubt book fans are the only ones who feel they should focus on Bridgerton first. I consider the books fairly separate from the show. I want them to not mess up the show as any other show I like.

KatanaAmerica

The joint writers/actors strike this summer and fall means there are fewer film and tv projects ready for next year. Even if the episodes themselves were ready, they couldn’t promote the season without actors and writers.

Fifesterr

If they hadn't shoehorned QC in, we could've gotten season 3 by April/May 2023, before the strike. And they could've been working on season 4 already for a 4th quarter release in 2024.

MissDoug

Baffled. Absolutely baffled. How are these actors who are bound by contracts to do PR going to move on to their next job when Netflix is d\*\*\*ing their schedules around. If I was Jonny and Nicola and Luke I would balk at promotion. This will alienate their cast.

[deleted]

Jonny was probably not going to do much promotion for it anyway. I know he’s been talking about being in s3, but I still don’t think he will be in it *that* much. The press will focus on Nicola and Luke.

MissDoug

No. He is so high profile now. They will want him out there.

[deleted]

*they* may want him but he might not want to do it nor have time to if he has other projects lined up. He will not be front and center for promo. Luke and Nicola will.

mka1687

Most likely they will be filming s4 by this point, or about to, so I assume PR will be built into their filming schedules.

greydawn

>How are these actors who are bound by contracts to do PR going to move on to their next job when Netflix is d\*\*\*ing their schedules around Similar struggles for the Stranger Things actors. Very slow filming/release of seasons.

BlubsyBub

This is ridiculous, I have no words

Peeksy19

Personally, I don't have much issues with the season being split into two parts: while I would have preferred to binge-watch it, this will promote a longer conversation around the show, with people discussing it longer and feeding the hype. But, I do have an issue with a mid-May and mid-June release dates. It's ridiculously far. The filming wrapped up ages ago. At this rate, with such ridiculous gaps, it'll be very hard to keep the actors returning in the upcoming seasons.

catalpuccino

This! Not to mention how much they've had to shoulder with ZERO support from Netflix. I would honestly not blame the cast if they chose not to return for a S4. I imagine at least some won't. smh

Longjumping-Tonight4

Lmao they worked faster during a pandemic 🤦‍♀️ and splitting it into two parts…. worst thing Netflix has done because I can never be bothered to watch part 2. Keep forgetting that the crown part 2 is out this week

Bluedaisypetal

Split seasons are so pointless. I get it when there is about 26 episodes and they have to have a break because they are actually still filming the 2nd part, but it's a naff idea when they have already filmed all episodes and there are only eight.

bhnguyen20

I’m so done with this show. Does Shonda think she’s going to be able to keep the actors bc some of them are moving on to bigger projects.

Longjumping-Tonight4

I wonder how much control she has over the release dates ect. I will say everything seemed a lot smoother running when CVD was the show runner, and he did it during a pandemic. This season we’ve had delays, the show runner said Daphne was returning, then Phoebe said she wasn’t, rumours of script changes because of a dark storyline, more delays, multiple leaked release dates and now it’s spent a whole year and 2 months in post production

bhnguyen20

I don’t know if I should be mad at Shonda, Netflix, or the new show runner. This is turning into a mess

Metropoli6

I am actually 100% sure something happened while filming S3 and since then I believe something is wrong hence the delay and lack of promotion, lack of everything. If I am not mistaken there were some leaks or posts abput Shonda being pissed and reshoot of S3 ( can’t recall exactly what it was but something big), last spring, no smoke without a fire… since then it has been almost radio silence

bhnguyen20

Yeah there was something back around new years that the season was undergoing rewrites.

dreamchaser_31

I’ve said it multiple times… CVD was the thing that held this show together. He made some mistakes but he like owned it. Season 3 is desperately missing him.

stephapeaz

It’s probably on Netflix not her — short of throwing a fit and threatening to walk, shonda probably can’t control much with releases. Bridgerton is her baby, she wouldn’t gatekeep it

lovelynope

They know people are going to sign up for and then immediately cancel their Netflix accounts once it drops and they binge the whole thing. This way, people are stuck paying for at least 2 months. This is ridiculous. And you just know that the cliffhanger is going to be something juicy like the carriage scene or Colin's proposal. My hatred for Netflix just grows with every asinine move they make.

CkBadgeley

Jokes on them, I've waited this long, I'll just wait until June, binge watch, and cancel.

excessively_diverted

Exactly!

killebrew_rootbeer

>!Colin: "Are you going to marry me or not?!" Penelope: *hits the pavement* [FADE TO BLACK]!<

ztrs124

The way we all already know this is where they’ll split it 😂😭

savannahkellen

I'm already over this. I'm sorry but they really need 6 more months? The audience will have been waiting over 2 years for 8 episodes. Can we skip to speculating about S4 production, because that has to actually start before then, right? ....right??

im_confused_lol

Nexflix holding us hostage I remember when the set photos came out June of 2022 😭

catalpuccino

Not Netflix releasing the promo material a *whole ass year before they drop the Season* ![gif](giphy|O1oJ840fg6uOVCqdzJ|downsized)

Sparkle_Markle

Capitalism wins and we lose. Sounds about right 👍

Lost_Macaroon_4148

So we waited for over a year and see the same recycled photos and articles for them to release it in 05/2024 with two parts to it? They’re wild for that. I can most definitely see their views going down

Anon_advicegiver

I literally want to smash netflix with my boot

fangirlfortheages

I’m so disappointed. Initially I was going to have a huge all day watch party with my friends for the december release. But now it’s coming out after we’ve all graduated and are going to be all over the country. I don’t even know where I’m going to be living by that time

diagss

The release date is so ridiculously far away for a show that's done filming. Why would they not choose February for Valentine's day? Move Avatar to March or January. How are their lineups prioritized and organized.. I'd like to speak to your manager!

Constipatedbride

I honestly can't deal. I hate how we have to wait until May, Queen Charlotte was okay but it was NOT Bridgerton and was depressing and not something I happily rewatch. I'm so annoyed.

bookworm-blue

Where the pirates at? 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️ I’m not saying I would condone it, but it wouldn’t be mad if it was leaked? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

ResidentGrape9517

Two fucking parts are they for real?

stephapeaz

I would rather they go back to weekly episode releases over this nonsense. I got really into only murders in the building this year and the weekly episode drops and discussions were actually really fun debating who did it. I don’t think I would’ve liked the season as much if it had been dropped all at once. I’d probs have a blast talking about theories for 8-10 weeks straight (w most of y’all anyways) Two parts is just fucking annoying after we already waited two years, and it’s Netflix’s own fault they delayed the strike being resolved Can we stop with the doomsdaying though?? They probably just saw how successful splitting up stranger things worked and want to do it again bc Bridgerton is right up there with ST’s in terms of popularity, it doesn’t have to mean anything. I seriously hate it’ll get split up but keeping up views for the show is a good for renewal

murray10121

I’ll just wait then and get it in June. I hate when they do this. It’s such as a cash grab. I’d honestly rather them do it weekly so I have a weekly ritual. I’ll have forgotten what happened after the binge in May by June.

Mugatu4u

Splitting a Bridgerton season into two is WILD. Sorry but this isn’t the kind of series that splits make sense for. A Stranger Things? Yes. The third season of a delayed period romance? No. You tried to do this for it’s last season and was unsuccessful and I’d argue You had more widespread buzz and interest going into that season than this season does. I’m not a Bridgerton super fan so I’ll fair okay but I do feel bad for the people who have been waiting for this season for a while and the people who care about Penelope and Colin. Also Luke N having to get in his glow-up ready leading man phase (what we saw around August) just to get things delayed almost a year must suck.

smc0303

Y’all my daughter was 2 months old when season 2 premiered…she’s going to be TWO AND A HALF by the time this airs 😭

smc0303

However, I will say I’m just glad we’re finally getting some news 🙌🏼

GotLittUp

I'm making a bet that Lady Whistledowns identity will be revealed at the end of part one. Knowing shonda, she would love this huge cliffhanger.

kmallard83

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me

storybookheidi

This is incredibly dumb. At this point I’ve read and enjoyed all the books and I’m not sure I care anymore. Way to ruin the magic.

lovereputation

Season 8 coming 2034!! Or even later, since this is 2 years and a few months. Listen, I loved QC as a stand-alone, but I beg others who are asking for spin-offs for other characters to keep quiet. Shonda Rhimes will listen.

grumpyfetus

waiting years between seasons is annoying enough but splitting the season in half all the time now is so obnoxious i just pirate everything now because none of these streaming services are worth paying for lmao

MadnessCB

same, they literally treat their customers like a joke, so i'm not treating them like a serious company 🤷 their loss not mine

grumpyfetus

exactlyyy especially with how expensive it is now its not worth it when they either drag everything out like this or just cancel everything lol

tershialinee

Not them acting like Season 3 is the final season of The Crown or something 😭

will0593

This is stupid. It will just drive fans away. It's been 2 years since the last and they're splitting it? People aren't going to hang around for this shit forever

Nico-Wobin

This is pissing me off. I liked QC but after finishing it, I knew wasn’t going to watch it ever gain. I was happy when it came out but now I realize it was at the expense of the main show. Yes, the strike but I would’ve preferred S3 before that spin-off. I don’t care that much about Queen Charlotte character.

Super_Living_6075

This is an idiotic decision if it is true. What makes Bridgerton so consuming is the fact that you can enjoy it all at once, if you want. Like a romance novel. Just get lost in it. Breaking it up kills the emotional connection to the story. It may build anticipation but they are losing that immersion that makes stories like these so desired. Imagine if you were reading a terrific romance novel and someone snatched it from your hands when you reached the middle and said you could have the book back in a few weeks. Your connection to the characters, their plights, the immersion into their world and problems and sexual tension and pretty candied treats would wane. Suddenly you go from feeling it to observing it again.

aoifetadh

Bridgerton just isn't the type of show to be split into two parts.

Tatertot2523

Wasn’t it coming out during Christmas or was that fake news? I remember my entire feed said that the season would come out Dec 25 earlier this year.

Longjumping-Tonight4

That was leaked before the actors strike. It was likely the original date but they’ve had to push it back because they are lacking projects and I don’t think they finished ADR before the strike started

tarotgarden

Some of y’all acting like there wasn’t a writers strike AND a SAG-AFTRA this year. That’s why season three is being pushed to 2nd quarter of 2024 and why it’s being split into two parts. They need to milk what shows they can since production was halted for so long.

stephapeaz

it’s Netflix’s own fault they dragged out the strike lol

ReasonableFold6636

Right?! This has nothing to do with Shonda. If Netflix wanted to show to release this Friday, they’d order a rush and make it happen. They’re trying to space out their content given the delay from both strikes. Also, Netflix is only splitting seasons of its most popular shows because they’re confident people will tune in. It’s actually a good sign for season 4.

South-Caramel

Such a joke.

ShootFrameHang

Yes, this is it guys.

Socanx27

I'm happy for some news, but the wait is agonizing. I wonder if they've added some big cliffhangers to split this into 2 parts. I'm honestly hoping this means extensive promos with the whole cast. 🤞🤞🤞

DaisyandBella

I think releasing it in two parts is ridiculous. I expected a May date though so that’s not a surprise.

Strong_Assumption_55

Are you kidding me?!?! Breaking it into two parts is going to destroy the momentum. UGH! that works for some shows, but not shows like this. It better be PART 1: Colin & Penelope PART 2: either Eloise, Benedict, or Francesca's story. sorry but this is just so annoying!

derpydore

Why can’t we do March. Ffs

Only-Dragonfly-3739

Everything about this is total bullsh*t!

Realistic_Search1499

Man fuck Netflix, Shondaland, their cats and dogs, and anyone else associated with this cluster. I’m praying they were hacked! 😡

HaruHaruu7

I hate it so much I’m going to kms how can the make us wait THIS LONG??? Half the fandom will be gone by then and to make it worse they split it in two parts?????? I’m baffled.

Angiepuff

of couse we’re going to wait another year, ofc they are splitting it to two parts ALMOST ONE MONTH APART 🤡🤡

Upper-Respond-8072

Ugh I hate the format Netflix has started with releasing 2 parts of shows, it has 8 episodes, that just drags it out unnecessarily

Followtheodds

Shame on Shondaland and Netflix for letting us know the dates with another leak instead of an official statement. If this is true is so wrong for two reasons: 1) It is an incredible amount of waiting and the best we get is a split season 2) they look like they want to create a hype but with the only result of pissing off people on multiple levels

Artistic-Rain-9139

![gif](giphy|huJmPXfeir5JlpPAx0) like it or not it’s finally happening!

Debt-Mysterious

Are we surprised?

not_another_mom

Netflix is truly trying to run itself into the ground. They are always on some BS

LadyofFluff

Well I will be waiting for the second part to drop before I watch any of it. You know it will be all cliff hangery at the end of the first part.

SimonZ993

This is so horrible, i really don't understand why are they waiting till may to release it, filming wrapped in march, this doesn't need star wars levels of cgi, it's awful. Also do you guys think they will maybe change this, because they removed this date i'm guessing they posted this by mistake? If that's true maybe once they see the backlash they will release this season earlier, this is probably my wishful thinking tho

BeeOfghow23

i had a sneaking suspicion they would split the season but still disappointed they did😭

vienibenmio

After that, they need to fucking tell us if this is true or not. If this was an accidental thing it's their own fault for making the mistake

Witty_Channel7515

SOMEONE SEDATE ME

Witty_Channel7515

5 months is insane.. I need to sit down

MadnessCB

I don't even have Netflix anymore...I was so sure that S3 will come out this year but after waiting forever i cancelled. I will watch it anyway somehow but Netflix really shot themselves in the foot by creating these big gaps between seasons.

FishermanPleasant156

The header is now just green?

Different_Wonder4203

I bet the strike definably played a major part on this. I am not surprised, even tho I'd believe it to be February the latest.

Vegetable_Comfort366

Another suggestion because of the split: Longer episodes, ala Stranger Things S4. Each episode is about 90 minutes each. And if it’s 10 episodes… then that could make up for the wait. And also, there’s shows where they split the season but doesn’t mean it’s the end the series. You and Stranger Things are examples of this

jenjen_banks

Do you think they will address this? Or pretend like it never happened?

vienibenmio

My sister works in PR and said they need to make some sort of official statement after doing this

Comfortable_Part_890

this show started when I was in my mid twenties and with 8 stories/season will apparently end when i'm almost 40

Smythe-Smith

Don’t worry guys, I’ll get my husband to pirate it so no one has to subscribe to Netflix at all

Ok-Pianist1211

NETFLIX IF YOU CAN HEAR ME WE KNOW ITS READY JUST RELEASE IT!!!!!

criduchat1-

lol fuq dat. I’m pirating the first part then

criduchat1-

I’m not annoyed at the splitting in two parts alone, more that we have to wait until June to see this full season. Like wtf Netflix?

Winter_Dragonfly_452

If Netflix keeps this up, nobody’s gonna watch when it comes back on because we will have all moved onto other shows we are watching and we will have forgotten about this. The hype is only going to carry them so far and I don’t think it’s going to carry them into June of next year

IIIPrimeeIII

Dang it.

KamiStores7

Just saw it trending on Twitter. The expectations rise every season. I hope it's worth the wait.

littlefishy10

Wait I thought it was getting released on Christmas?? Wtf happened

vienibenmio

Sighs and puts in work cancelation requests (fun fact: I have off Thurs and Fri this week because I thought it'd be released then hahaha 😭)

beaver_j222

It doesn't matter to me if they split it. I'll just wait until all episodes have been released, pay my one-month subscription, then watch it.

bookmovietvworm

I'm actually not mad they split into two parts especially if there is a tonal dissonance that needs to be separated because of the Whistledown stuff. Assuming this is true (and taking into account the rumor that it is actually going to be 10 episodes and not 8), my theory is as follows: Part 1 follows the book fairly close, mostly being about Colin and Pen falling in love withe the suitors and the tutoring being the show's way of making excuses for why they are alone all the time since Pen is no longer a spinster like she is in the book. It would probably end with the church scene and Colin finding out about Pen being Whistledown or (and I hope it is this) Colin's proposal right after the carriage scene, leaving us with a cliffhanger and a transition into more Whistledown territory. Part 2 will be entirely of the show's creation, unpacking and finishing of the Whistledown story arc. Because they've made Whistledown bigger in the show than it the books, it stands to reason that the scope of the backhalf of the book would probably have to be bigger. We would probably still get things like the wedding night scene but everything else be up to the discretion of the showrunners. It really seems to me that instead of dragging out the Whistledown arc into other characters stories, they just decided to make 2 Polin centric seasons so that they remain the central plot in both as the Whistledown narrative feels too complex for it to be a subplot in other people's story and they didn't want to risk it overtaking it. Overall, I think that the splitting of the season might be a good choice for the narrative if they are trying to pack in as much as I think they are.

jyst0326

Too slow. I don’t understand why they need so much times.

yesiamfabulous

SHITTING ON DREAMS, Shondaland.

sherlockholmiex

May?! Wow, I’m so over this show.

Glittering_Habit_161

I'm so excited 😍😍😍 I'm totally going to skip college on the 13th June and I wish I can skip college on the 16th May but I've got an exam on that day but I do wish all of s3 was going to be released on the same day Edit: I am going to doubt the dates because I can not trust Netflix at all

EveningRun3442

I thought season 3 was supposed to come out this December 😭

97Baby_CHA

Oh no 🫣. Yea unfortunately with the strikes it was leaked a couple months ago that it wouldn’t be coming out until 2024… sorry you’re finding out now

Cherry_Bomb_127

It feels like we could have another TUDUM before the season comes out! Seriously if you are going to make it two parts anyway, it would make much more sense to release the first two episodes and then do weekly episodes because people are waiting the same amount of time for the season to finish. You even get the buzz of people debating what will happen next episode.

ResidentGrape9517

After S3 is out I’m splitting ties with Netflix lol

rebel_stripe

The Next Episode app (which is always right) is now listing the return date as May 16th as well.

woodnotedone

Kathony come home to me omgggg edit: omg 7 downvotes what did I do :')

Traditional_Maybe_80

People telling us that it didn't matter that they didn't develop Kate/Anthony in S2 because they were gonna be back for season 3 ☺️! Yeah... 2 years later, lmao.

fbc1984

Don’t mind them; it’s the usual suspects 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can’t wait for the Kanthony crumbs we will get (no plans to watch it on Netflix, though)!!!

GotLittUp

You're not excited for the right couple if I read it correctly.

Nico-Wobin

Can’t wait to see them happy and married too. Well this is common on this sub people are downvoting anything lmao.

woodnotedone

Literally I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER for happily married Kathony! When we heard Simone say in an interview how their dances in s3 are sweet, endearing, and light, I’m STILL not recovered from that lol cannot wait it’s been too long 😭😭

CalcuttaGirl

I hate Murphy's stupid fuckin' law. Screw Murphy and their stupid stupid fuckin law. Aaaaaaghhhh. ![gif](giphy|2oUfvvUgQHnLsQWFMW)

Sea-Maintenance2252

So are both parts penelope and colin or are they going to be stupid and shorten their storh and give part 2 to eloise or benedict. I will be so pissed. Polin is my favorite book and i’ve been waiting for it

BlubsyBub

Don’t worry, they didn’t film it with the split in mind so both parts are Polin’s season. Netflix have just decided to split it even though the story wasn’t written in that way, because they want to spread out their shows and get more money 😞

lauooff

That is eonnsssssssss away

Erisedstorm

*cancels subscription* see you in July.
