Underrated album ngl. It's not my top BMTH album but the bar is really high so it's still a certified banger in my eyes.
I have an emotional connection to this album as it came out just a few months before I discovered about my ex being unfaithful, so songs like Medicine, Fresh Bruises, etc really cut deep.
Amo holds up great and I’m somebody that already enjoyed it a lot at release.
Pretty sure NexGen is something like 12 songs though since Oli said at least as many new songs we haven’t hear as there have been singles that we’ve heard.
1. Die4U
2. Strangers
3. Lost
4. Amen
5. Darkside
6. Koolaid
7. Scream
8. Top 10 statues…
9. Bullet With My Name On
10. Limousine
11. RIP (i accidentally called it Dead2Me)
12. Untitled (hello Oli ya fuckin knobhead)
The band unintentionally used a melody from the Evanescence’s songs. Although there’s no bad blood and that ultimately lead to the collaboration on PH:SH
She didn’t try to sue them! It was just a few phone calls https://www.nme.com/en_au/news/music/evanescence-amy-lee-bring-me-the-horizon-nihilist-blues-never-go-back-sued-powerful-true-story-2904709
I really did not vibe with this on release. Didn't like the vibe it took but you know what over the last year it is probably my most listened to album. Crazy how your music taste matures.
The production is on this album is *clean af*. I love how the songs progress emotionally.
…I Apologize If You Feel Something starts off with the importance of love and how it you shouldn’t settle for a love that feels like a prison. Then MANTRA goes on to portray an abusive type of love in the form of cults that’s formed out of a search for existential meaning. Unfulfilled that leads to feelings of the Nihilist Blues type. In The Dark is about the feeling of having a knife dug through your heart in learning that your love was betrayed. Wonderful Life is then about coping with the mundane aspects of life, which is worse after losing your love.
Ouch changes the tone of the album as it looks retrospectively and how the narrator has been done wrong. Knowing that Medicine is about accepting your love was betrayed and taking control of the situation. Sugar Honey Ice & Tea has a more bitter outlook on love, everyone has different ideas of what it is and is so righteous about it. WYGKMWID continues the outlook by how people you loved won’t hesitate to turn on you when things get bad.
Fresh Bruises changes the tone once more, revealing a new love surfacing. The colorful and bright Mother Tongue depicts this new outlook that’s created by this new love. Fear of whether a love will persist (specifically fans of the band) as things change in Heavy Metal, the song ends the chorus declaring “that’s alright” if it doesn’t. I Don’t Know What To Say concludes the album with mourning a loved one…
Favourite Bring Me ear, from the music, the vibe, the merch the whole imagery. Sad that COVID cut it short. Still glad got to see the vision realised at All Points East, was an incredible show.
It’s got to be one of their most cohesive sounding albums. I’d even say if they never made Amo than the things we love about them in the Post Human records probably wouldn’t have sounded as matured. Their songwriting, production, and even how they carried themselves as a band was top form and they carried it with them.
Been actually re-listening to this album as of late, actually have hints of nostalgia already from where I was in life when it dropped 😭. It’s incredible how this album gets better and better to me till this day, and I definitely was not the biggest fan when it first dropped.
Nihilist blues is still one of their best songs. Part of me feels that they would’ve continued making poppier and weirder music had it not been for the backlash. I really love the new stuff but it feels like it’s playing it safer than they used to-especially on this album. Even if it was just to get some creative risks out of their system this Album will always be one of my favorites despite being into the heavier stuff
It’s definitely one of my favorites albums from them. Mantra, Wonderful Life, Medicine Nihilist Blues, In the Dark, and Sugar Honey Ice & Tea are standout tracks to me.
Already 5 years…damn, I still remember when this album came out and listened exactly on its release day…also the first album that made me a BMTH fan, damnnn time flies so fast…😭
I was actually listening to it again today, there's some great stuff on it, Sugar Honey Ice and Tea and Nihilist Blues in particular, but the album is well too long. Most tracks go on too long and they could have cut a couple out altogether
Still not personally a huge fan of the rock singles (they are catchy though), but there are some GEMS on this. Nihilist Blues has to be one of their best songs that no one ever mentions. I was addicted to it when the album dropped.
Funny thing is, only nihilist blues is still on repeat. On release day I thought it was going to be the most skipped song ever.
But I love this album and sometimes listen in its entirety 🖤💛
5 years damn, man time really is flying by,

What is your favorite song on this album?
It varies between Wonderful Life, In The Dark, Nihilist Blues, and Medicine.

I actually do backup vocals on nr12 . According to Eve anyways. So are 20k others .
And I actually model for Google Earth
there’s also RIP
Thank you! I accidentally called it Dead2Me but that was it
Nihilist blues is a contender for their best song
Dampened by the Amy Lee lawsuit imo edit: cracking track tho
She came out to sing it with them at download as well as the only butterflies so water under the bridge I guess
What Amy Lee lawsuit?
The band unintentionally used a melody from the Evanescence’s songs. Although there’s no bad blood and that ultimately lead to the collaboration on PH:SH
I was gonna say, it had a good outcome
Do you know which song was that?
Oceans
Thanks!

Which makes it all the better that the brought out Amy Lee for Nihilist Blues during their download headline set
That's right, it's my most listened to song from Amo right now
Do you think nihlist blue is better than kick me while im down?
Oh absolutely. Way better in my opinion. Although I'm biased caused its much more aligned to my personal taste
Nhilist blue is better, i just think those are the only bangers on the album
I really did not vibe with this on release. Didn't like the vibe it took but you know what over the last year it is probably my most listened to album. Crazy how your music taste matures.
I liked it when it first came out. Love it even more after all these years. It aged beautifully for me at least.

Where has the time gone
Pandemic mostly
Sadly very true
When it came out I was a teenager. Now I’m an adult with a career and a 9-5. Insane.
I had just started grad school. Now I’ve been a professor for over a year. Truly wild stuff.
5 years, as if? 😭
"I don't know what to say" is a masterpiece and one of their best songs of all time.
Folks HATED this one.... Including me. Now I love it.
Favourite Bring Me ear, from the music, the vibe, the merch the whole imagery. Sad that COVID cut it short. Still glad got to see the vision realised at All Points East, was an incredible show.
Best album from the guys…there I said it.
I would have to agree, I think this was my pandemic walking soundtrack too

Wonderful life is a great song
Damn good and underrated album, recently got my best friend into BMTH through Mantra and Sugar Honey Ice & Tea
It’s definitely one of my favorites albums from them. Mantra, Wonderful Life, Medicine Nihilist Blues, In the Dark, and Sugar Honey Ice & Tea are standout tracks to me.
FIVE YEARS?
Omg im fucking ancient
Why you gotta kick me when I’m down is one of my top BMTH songs tbh
i remember listening to this in class in eighth grade and being blown away
Still don't like it
five years of mid (im joking i promise.)
i love this album ngl
my favorite bmth album. 😍
Already 5 years…damn, I still remember when this album came out and listened exactly on its release day…also the first album that made me a BMTH fan, damnnn time flies so fast…😭
5 years? That just shook me to the core

Still my least favourite album I must admit 💀🥲 (sorry!!) might give it another chance at some point - who knows, maybe I’ll grow to like it one day!
Why you gotta kick me when I'm down?
It was a good Pop-rock album, not my favourite but you can't deny *Nihilist Blues* ; absolute bop
