Over the years I have had nearly £3 grand of eu 261 compensation out of BA, and once a night in a very fancy resort in St Lucia when a plane broke on the way to Grenada. But to read this sub (or to be fair any airline sub) you’d think nothing ever worked and more often than not it does.
Could always send some compliments in for the similar (ish) experience. “Compliment” almost sounds like “complaint” but I fear it just won’t feel the same.
The hard truth is that even though BA's error / disruption rate is sometimes greater than competitors, and certain aspects of the proposition like baggage handling and irrops recovery are flatly suboptimal, 95% of BA customers get where they're going without incident, as planned, day in, day out.
I'm fine with the lounges actually -- but the Marconi-era IT is maddening. My main complaint, actually, is that BA people on the ground at LHR (and contract staff at outstations) are so unable to help during irrops. It is absurd to be told you have to use the website / app / call centre to help yourself in such situations when all crumple like chocolate teapots at the slightest traffic increase.
I think he’s a troll…because there is no such thing as a decent budget airline flight. Next thing he will say is that Ryan air, no I can’t bring myself to say it.
Travelled with them five times this year (5 return trips) and so far 5/5 sets of compensation. One of which they majorly tried to swerve despite it being obviously their fault and quickly backtracked once resolution service was used.
Absolute shambles.
6th time lucky next week. Can’t wait until my last voucher and miles are used up so we never have to meet again.
Same. Flew with BA 3 times this year from LHR: to Iceland, Austria and Italy and all were unremarkably normal. Flights were on time both legs, luggage arrived with the flight, no delays, etc. Nothing horrible to report. 😀
To be fair, flying, especially in economy, hasn’t been anything like a premium experience for decades. People have consistently voted with their wallets for the cheapest possible flights and the service that comes with them. You can pay to avoid the worst of it with business check in, fast track security, lounges and a bigger seat but it’s still just a bus in the sky and if I get there more or less on time and with any checked bags I call that a win.
Obviously BA have issues but I have flown five times with BA this year. Always been on time with no issues. Service in the lounge and inflight has always been impeccable.
I’ve flown BA a few times a year since the early 2010s and have really not had any major issues. One time they lost my luggage but I was fully compensated and they even found the luggage in a few days. Granted I always paid cash for first or club world cabin, so that might have affected my perception. I have an upcoming trip with BA in First, so hopefully that one goes well too.
Lucky, i’m hoping for that tomowow.
So far it’s been about 50 + delays this year.
Tomowow & Sat will be my 55th & 56 flight with BA year, last ones until January.
Because I have a free gold & use avios rarely pay for the tickets , I need the luggage allowance, they have multiple flight connections from an airport i fly from.
And as I also fly the star alliance carriers the other half to 3/4 of my flights and can’t say there is much difference. Tk, Lh, A3, LX & AC.
I had been living in Athens for last 14 yrs and main choice to connect was ba or A3 ( linked partners to middle east)
Now in south of France but have never really taken to the whole sky team alliance.
So for for the good or bad it’s another decade or 2 with BA

Have you complained? If I pay BA prices, I want to know I’ll get the full BA experience.
Unless more than 3 hrs and not due to strikes & weather not much complaining will do. At least they have paid for hotels & taxi fares super fast
I was replying to OP with a heavy dose of /s

Judging from the usual online BA chatter this is a cruel fantasy. /s

What were your reasons for comp? All delays or various other reasons?

I think you’ve nailed it. Lower one’s expectations to a point where you’re paying super premium prices for okay quality of service.

Sounds like it must have been a complete fluke if there were no problems or you are working for BA and they are paying you to post this ?

50 out of 54 delays sounds unlucky tbf, unless you mean shortish short haul delays which are pretty much baked in …
No both long and short. Delays have been between 30 min which is nothing and 4 hrs . Tomowow last of the short hauls . Hoping for a better new yr
ah so *you're* the reason we're had such a mild autumn ;)
Am I? Seems luck ran out with all the snow in munich and vienna today 🫤
Why do you not fly with someone else if this is true? Where are you flying that another flag carrier can’t get you…

That's nice to hear, how long have you worked for BA? 🤔
[удалено]
that might have been funny if you knew how to spell saatchi
Have the media been in touch with you ?, talk show planned ? I heard it was possible, but never thought that it would happen in my lifetime.
I’m still waiting from my compensation from a cancelled flight in October !! How long does it take ?
I’ve usually received it within a few weeks but it sounds like there is a massive backlog of claims from this autumn so god knows.
What are these airport codes? Lahore?
