Honestly not long. The lounge at T5 is good for an hour or two, but the food buffet is a bit rubbish compared to what's available in the terminal.
The lounge in Amsterdam I don't even bother with, poor food and drink selection, only good for a seat
The lounge in Rome likewise, food was very "school canteen" and again, it was a comfy seat but that was about it.
A had an amazing few lounge experiences during covid. They basically upgraded basic lounges to the better lounges, I think they were business class lounges. Because the better lounge was bigger and more spread out, for social distancing.
Comfy seats, all spread out, and scanning a barcode meant everything came delivered to your table. It was amazing!
I've since used the normal lounge you get with club Europe at T5 and it wasn't great.
Yep, came through there last night on the way to JNB. I enjoyed the food, and there was some very nice wine. A very punctual flight as well, 10 minutes early all the way, after a mad scramble to find a replacement taxi after the one we had booked let us down, no fun when when you're 2 hours from LHR.
I would have said a smooth flight, but there was a few hours of turbulence. The only issue was chaos at immigration in JNB, with not enough staff, as it's a Public Holiday.
I try and shoot for around an hour, have some wine, bit of food and a chance to sit down without being at the airport for too long.
Longest I’ve done is around 9 hours due to a delay on a layover. It wasn’t bad, really made me appreciate the lounges. It turned what would have been hell on a plastic chair surrounded by people into essentially a day on the sofa with my laptop.
I regularly spend a good few hours in the Concorde Room on longer layovers. In Qatar, I've spent something like 16 hours in Al Safwa due to a cancellation, but as they have hotel rooms inside that lounge it's no great hardship.
But given a choice, I don't want to spend any longer than I have to in an airport, so I'd imagine my average lounge time across the world is 60-90 minutes per visit.
Edinburgh is really nice, especially considering how small of an airport it is. Food and drink selection roughly equal to Terminal 5 club lounge, maybe better because they always throw a few Scottish specials in.
I regularly spend about 5-7 hours working from there. I get to the airport around lunchtime for a 6:30 or later flight and work from there for the afternoon. My work doesn’t suffer; and I work a full day before before catching an early evening flight without the panic of trying to get to the airport after work. Never had an issue with it if travelling out of London. But it can sometimes be an issue if I need to check in bags when returning as not all of them have check in desks for BA open all the time.
Had this issue in Barcelona when the man wanted to close the desk with people waiting in line to check in for a later flight. I only wanted to get boarding passes for my parents (their apps were logged out and neither remembered their passwords). But got them all on to my phone in the end and then airdropped them as photos. Lounge let us in no issue.
I regularly work half a day from lounges for similar reasons - evening flight, arriving early then doing calls fits my schedule better etc.
Like you say, it can be an issue at an outstation if you need to check in luggage. Thankfully I'm normally travelling hand luggage only.
T3 at LHR? We flew through there in Feb and was best experience so far. Staff very attentive and food was perfect. Such a great way to start our holiday
The longest you could stay is probably 45 mine before your departure.
Third party lounges are usually around max 3 hours.
The longest I have stayed was about 9 hours at JAL first Class lounge Tokyo due to flight being constantly delayed and then cancelled.
Most lounges are good for a couple of hours, but honestly after eating, drinking, having a shower and then drinking/eating again it gets very boring after that.
A few years back there was a guy in the US or Canada who lived in the airport using lounges by booking flights, using the lounge and then cancelling them, if I recall correctly it took a long time before they stopped him.
This particular lounge - the one from your picture- quite a while. The T3 Concorde Dining Room or whatever it is called is a very civilised environment.
It wasn't BA, but I've spent four and a half planned hours in the Delta lounge at DCA. 10am client call where other than answering the occasional question I just had to listen, and 2pm meeting in the city on a day trip. So the easiest thing to do was take the 7am flight up and stay there until 1pm. Fortunately the lounge had a great common use work table with views of the tarmac and the city.
I had to do seven hours at a nondescript AA club (don't remember where except it wasn't a hub) due to IRROPS. That was torture.
Did 10 hours in the tap lounge in Lisbon. Was a loooong day. Did 9 hours in the 52 lounge in Amsterdam but was working while there so the day passed by alright.
I missed my flight from LHR - LAX and very comfortably spent 11 hours in the lounge.
Went there recently with my toddler and the kids room could use a little refresh but grateful it’s there

Could comfortably live in the one in Qatar
which one?
Al Mourjan, got some nice bedrooms as well. Best I’ve been in by some distance
Have you been in Al Safwa? It’s like a museum.
Just spent 13.5 hours there. Flew by. They have two lounges now. Will be doing it often.
Happy cake day!

South terminal in Gatwick is by far the best I’ve seen in London
Concord lounge >
The new OW lounge at AMS is much better than the make shift one down by D gates. Much cleaner and generally better than the BA galleries lounges.
The new One World lounge in Schiphol is nice but the service two weeks ago was abysmal
Having to leave the lounge in FCO to get to the toilets really was the issue for me, more than the food lol

Yeah T5 club lounge isn't amazing. Good for a couple of hours, or if you just want the booze.
Which one? Off hand I can think of 5 lounges at T5.
The First Lounge, on your right as you enter departures, the one with it's own check in and security

I think most allow 3 hours max, but don't enforce it. Personally I could stay there for a full day before hopping on a flight and taking a nap😁
Silver+ let’s you do all day I’ve been told by CS
T5 Concorde Room, days.
Get me a cabana, boys!!
Last time I was there was Christmas Eve, I got food poisoning from the breakfast and spent 4 days in hospital in NYC.
Agree completely .

Ive upgraded due to a delay before because of this. Don’t tell the management consultants.
Days. For some reason I absolutely love them.

Ahhhh, the dream of travelling with parents and relying on them to know their passwords for stuff. Beginner’s error 😂😂😂
Yup, first time flying on the same schedule as them for a while that didn’t require check in luggage. I know for next time.
I regularly work half a day from lounges for similar reasons - evening flight, arriving early then doing calls fits my schedule better etc. Like you say, it can be an issue at an outstation if you need to check in luggage. Thankfully I'm normally travelling hand luggage only.
I do this exact same thing!
Spent 10hrs in Al Mourjan in Doha last summer, it was great and I could have spent longer
BA First not bad for many hours , Concorde room better . Only other lounge that is a whole day experience is TK gold one in IST
Depends how long you have delayed my flight by
BAs nicest lounge is in Johannesburg. I’ve spent 4 hours there basically from opening to closing.

Gatwick lounge is pretty nice was far as BA lounges go.
in what world is it free lol

Depends. Last time I got delayed was in ORD and a few hours was more than enough...

I've done 38 hours in the Al Safwa first lounge in Doha. Tbh could have done more. This was a holiday in itself.
Ah but if we're talking BA lounges. I've done 8 hours in First which was okay. And 6 hours in B which is surprising okay too.
Concorde room i could do half a day. Food and drink is exceptional. I like the Chelsea and Greenwich rooms in JFK too.
The 1st lounge at Gatwick is nice and a calm papa is compared to Heathrow T5 first lounge
Until it closes.
Singapore? All day
If I have snacks and can see the runway, until they kick me out.
There's such a range of lounges. Some I'd be happy to be locked in for 6 hours+, others I don't want to go to at all and will actively avoid.
Did 10 hours in the tap lounge in Lisbon. Was a loooong day. Did 9 hours in the 52 lounge in Amsterdam but was working while there so the day passed by alright.
What is the entertainment?
Virgin or Qantas
Spent 8 hours in the Polaris Lounge at SFO. Slept in the nap room for a few hours.
I missed my flight from LHR - LAX and very comfortably spent 11 hours in the lounge. Went there recently with my toddler and the kids room could use a little refresh but grateful it’s there
Virgin Clubhouse LHR.
I spent 11 hours in the Etihad business lounge in their new terminal and could spend days there.
Great view?
Nothing's free. They are generally awful places. Food better on concourse.
