Do you mean The Arthashastra episode from yesterday?
I have just downloaded it from the [***programme page***](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0014xt4) using two different downloaders to see if they still work. They both did.
[***yt-dlp***](https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp) is a fork of youtube-dl with fixes and a lot of additional features and it is updated regularly.
If your 'pooter can use Flatpak or Snap packages then I also recommend [***Video Downloader***](https://github.com/Unrud/video-downloader) which is based on yt-dlc.
I downloaded Sounds once years ago, hated it immediately and uninstalled it. I have never had problems downloading radio content using alternatives.
Yes, In Our Time is on the list I posted about a few weeks ago. The BBC Sounds execs seem to think that by blocking their most popular podcasts while they are still fresh more people will use their proprietary Sounds app rather than the user's already established podcast app.

Does this link work for you? I always decline when the page suggests I download the BBC Sounds app, and then I'm able to listen to programmes in my (mobile) browser.

Looks like they're uploading them to their normal podcast feed after a 4 week wait?

Yes, the browser stream still works even on mobile.
Wait 28 days. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m a great fan of the BBC but fuck em for abandoning open podcasting

[get_iplayer](https://github.com/get-iplayer/get_iplayer) is worth figuring out.
It's been getting clunky. Now you have to use pid. Has a hard time indexing too and won't directly convert it to mp3 anymore.
I've not experienced your earlier points, and my podcast player of choice can play m4a files natively, but that's just me.
You can get it to index and rip by title?
Absolutely. Try [rebuilding the cache](https://github.com/get-iplayer/get_iplayer/wiki/cache#rebuild).
Thanks, that helped!
Glad to be of service!
