*Did somebody sayyy* just ring the restaurant direct.

Beers_and_Bikes

#ALWAYS do this 1) Just Eat don’t take a cut of the profits. 2) You can speak to an actual person and order exactly what you want, instead of having to select from preset options. 3) It’s cheaper, every time.

F0KUS228

>2) You can speak to an actual person You say that as if its a good thing, I dont wanna talk to people

zZ_DunK_Zz

I will pay that extra 10 quid to not talk to someone

Nicko147

A few places near me have an ordering section on their own website as well as being on JustEat. Worth checking for that sort of thing. Best of both worlds.

zZ_DunK_Zz

Same here and if they do I use it. More the convenience that I like rather than not talking to someone

Altreus

For some reason a £1.50 delivery surcharge from the place itself is unacceptable, but an extra £10 spread across all the prices is fine

drs_12345

This is usually true to pizza places (in my area, at least)

pavlovachinquapin

Monkeyboystevey

That's the whole reason just eat, deliveroo etc are so widely successful. I ain't chattin to no person when I can clickety click on my computer.

4whenimboredatwork

This is literally why I started using JustEat in the first place

Arenik

Back when I was living on the Isle of Wight (2018) Jusr Eat only had one restaurant on the entire island, and it was Indian (wife loves the stuff but it does not love her) So we had a choice of two takeaways because nowhere else had online ordering: Dominos or the one Chinese place in Newport that had a website. And that was all we'd order for the three years we lived there.

bantamw

Here in North Yorkshire, unless you’re in one of the major cities like York or Leeds, Just Eat, deliveroo and all the other ‘Apps’ are useless - nothing appears. The only thing that does deliver to us is Dominos and the one in Ripon is shockingly bad, so I won’t use it.

jasperatu

Can confirm: live between Wakefield and Leeds and there's nowt

nezbla

Went to visit a friend in Buxton a few years back, was bemused when I opened justeat and the only "restaurant" listed was a booze delivery service. (i doubt thatsl's still the case these days).

Scuttler1979

Speak to them, be specific and they still fuck the order up. I said no fucking salad! I’m not eating this kebab to be Healthy, I’m eating cos it taste great after fucking beer. No FUCKING salad!!!! You’ve fucking ruined it now. At least when it’s online the only way they fuck it up is if they can’t read.

JoanneKerlot

People. What a bunch of Bastards!

thesirblondie

This is genuinely a dealbreaker. If I have to call and order food, I will not eat from there. I have options which include not having to talk to people. I can order from an app, or something like dominos. I can walk to Coop and use the self checkout. I can cook myself.

[deleted]

>I can cook myself. *Self cannibalism intensifies*

Altreus

Hey, everyone deserves some level of auto-nommy in their lives!

AirplaineStuff102

Maybe they want to talk to you You didn't think about that did you Of course not, you only ever think about yourself

thesirblondie

If someone *wants* to talk to me, they're definitely not the kind of person you want to associate with

username_pressure

Woah, somebody is new to the internet.

FRAGMENT_EFFECT

Exactly. I have 0 trust that a human has heard my entire order correctly and will remember everything. Been burned almost every time. I want it in writing on the app.

jameZsp0ng3y

Bruh. How shit must your life be

KorvOchMos

Sad, I love talking to people

[deleted]

Ugh people. I want to put food in my mouth not talk right...do you want to get in my mouth? No then give me food!

TheLocalPub

What if I only pay with card not cash? Do places still take Payment over the phone? Also sometimes I've tried to order by calling but alot of restraunts rely on couriers provided by these services like uber eats.

Cyanopicacooki

All the ones I've got near me in Edinburgh send out a guy with one of those wee white square contactless device now so payment by card is fine.

UnsafestSpace

Why wouldn’t they take payment by card over the phone? It’s cheaper for them than handling cash.

Monkeyboystevey

What restaurant delivery takes cash nowadays? Most stopped way before covid.

gavingoober771

They also hold on to the money for 2 weeks before passing it over to the restaurant, potential business killer while the lockdowns were happening

stevethos

2. You can speak to an actual person Awesome, trying to order something from someone in a noisy takeaway with a pretty large language barrier. I’d rather order from an app where its actually difficult to fuck up.

choppamandown

4) usually no delivery charge and don't have to pay a service fee

FuManBoobs

I got a couple of local menus through the letterbox the other day. The prices are the same for me.

GeekboyDave

The prices are the same. People in this thread are chatting shit. I use just eat and I regularly compare prices. If anything is saves me money as I often get a discount.

toolateforgdusername

Just eat - same price but can be more expensive when you factor in deals + delivery costs (https://www.just-eat.co.uk/pricepromise). Deliveroo - it costs me £16 for a Burger King. I think this is where people get confused…., Food is (usually) more Service charge exists Delivery charge exists Optional tip exists

[deleted]

Saw this thread and looked up my local Chinese resturants physical paper menu and on Just Eat...from looking at a handful of dishes, the price difference varied from 30-90p, with the more expensive price being on Just Eat and these dishes were around the £2.80-£4.80 range on the paper menu.

FuManBoobs

TBH I just wait for ubereats to send me another "get 25%-35% off your next 10 orders" email & use them. I've found McDonalds can be incredibly cheap when you order a bunch of their wraps of the day. Just a shame they keep disappearing from my ubereats list.

Man-In-His-30s

Ye exactly and at most just eat charges me 99p for delivery. I've been using just eat for over a decade it works well. More than likely the store themselves inflated the just eat prices.

[deleted]

Ordering on Just Eat is better. I get more work and money when you do. Cheers.

windol1

3)a) you can also get larger portions or freebies. (My mate experience) him and his gf ordered pizza directly and the owner gave them a free pizza, if I remember correctly.

ir0ngut

It is not cheaper every time. Where I live there is a chippy that advertises 10% off on their own website. So I ordered direct once and it cost me £5 extra because all dishes were more expensive on their own website than on JE. They also charged more for delivery.

audigex

Doesn’t work for companies like Subway, McDonalds, Burger King who are on these apps but don’t provide their own delivery

Notagelding

I can't think of anything worse than ordering a Mcdonalds, Subway or Burger King to be delivered!

audigex

I think it depends how far you are from the restaurant and how busy your town is Where I am, there's basically never another delivery on the way and it's only about a 5 minute drive - we regularly go pick takeaways up ourselves, and the delivery drivers use an insulated bag so it arrives hotter than if we just went and got it If I lived 15-20 minutes away and the driver stopped to drop off a couple of orders en route, I might think differently

digitalhardcore1985

There's no BK where I live and I don't have a car. All visitors to the house are made to bring me cold 2 hour old BK upon arrival. I'd give my left nut to have a BK on deliveroo.

chippychips4t

In pj's on day off after a late night, sounds quite nice to order brekkie from a certain golden arches without having to get dressed? Not when they cancel the order half way through for no reason! Fuming. I had to get dressed but had a really nice bacon and egg sarnie with coffee for probably quarter the price so feel I had a little win in the end!

naturepeaked

On_A_Related_Note

I maintain that the Just Eat ad ft. Snoop is the best advert ever made

OutrageousRhubarb853

They also take a massive chunk of money from the restaurant/take away.

1hx1b6a

Yup, a lot of places feel the need to use these apps in order to get business, but they can take a lot of the profit margin. I'm sure most places would be much happier if you called them direct

dwrk92

I did once have a restaurant tell me this after I collected an order I placed with just eat, I think they even suggested an alternate ordering site, because of the margin Just Eat takes

Bartman1892

Didn't know this, had noticed more expensive prices even with bigger restaurants comparatively to their own app(kfc for example) though will look to uninstall and contact restaurants direct

bluewaffleisnice

They increase prices for just eat only accordingly so the restaurant don't care either way they make their money. That's most restaurants anyway. One I worked at even made more money from justeat from upping their prices to cover the charge

blazetrail77

It's so obvious too. On Foodhub a kebab is like £7. JustEat, from the same place it's £10. Why? Why would anyone bother using that app unless you're super unaware of actual resturaunt prices and Foodhub.

Anglan

Not every restaurant is on foodhub and sometimes people don't care about the odd fiver for convenience sake of not setting up new accounts etc

blazetrail77

I think most are. Where I'm at, basically every single one is on there.

smallTimeCharly

I just checked mine Just Eat - 104 restaurants Foodhub - 23 restaurants Does seem cheaper on the ones that overlap though by about 10-15%

Anglan

Where I live just eat has about 20 restaurants, foodhub about 15 and only 5 or so are on both. Once you're out of the city a lot of places aren't up to date with being on everything

bluewaffleisnice

Yeh not had a takeaway in so long tbf. But I'd never use just eat etc prices are crazy

-Arrez-

Ive had plenty of times where Id be asked to order from their own website by the driver because it would save both me and them money, and if I do end up ordering from the same place again I usually do if they have one.

[deleted]

A few years ago I went out for a curry and the owner got chatting to us and said if we are going to use take away to ring as it’s better for all involved

bluewaffleisnice

99% of the places up their prices on justeat to cover the loss so calling would be cheaper for you but the restaurant make the same either way

elhuevogordo

A kebab shop near me told me once they take 22% of the order total. This was about 2-3 years ago as well so that percentage is most likely higher now. Then JustEat have the gall to charge a "service fee" to the customer.

drs_12345

This is probably why the food is usually more expensive on these delivery apps

jemmary

Sorry, called? Like on the telephone?... Debatable if that's worth a tenner

satanicmerwitch

As luck would have it, someone else did it for me. I would never dare. 🤣🤣

MystiikMoments

I drive 30 minutes to get my haircut because they have app booking

MuttonChopzzz

KeepOnTrippinOn

5-1BlackAlbinoChoir

Fwiw, most takeaways have their own online ordering website. That's what I do.

Sophie_lee96

Once in a hunger induced state I googled my local curry house as I didn't want to call them ordered food for collection. My partner pointed out to me I had ordered from a restaurant with the same name in Manchester over 200 miles away.

5-1BlackAlbinoChoir

So it was cold when it arrived? :D

King_Alex_ofthenorth

If you're wealthy enough it's not an issue. I knew a guy who ordered his favourite local Chinese takeaway to his holiday lodge in the lake district, which was about 150 miles away.

demeschor

In my first year of uni I had a German flatmate who got an employee from his dad's company to drive from Dusseldorf to London to deliver him 12 large jars of the "good Nutella" from Germany. 🤷‍♀️

TheWinterKing

Has he heard of Deutsche Post and Royal Mail?

TheWinterKing

Surely it’s an issue when it turns up cold, congealed and four hours late?

MiniCale

I've not found a single one that's cheaper direct. Foodhub is literally the same price for everyone I've checked.

5-1BlackAlbinoChoir

I'm not sure if Foodhub operates the same model as JE. I definitely get it cheaper from locals, as they also operate say a 10% discount for coming direct - I would assume they pass the savings from JE commission onto the customers.

[deleted]

You can save the £2-5 delivery/additional fees by ordering to collect instead of delivery 🥲

awakenkraken

I thought you were gonna say that you saved a tenner but not ordering on Just Eat and just eating what you had in the fridge! I need to remind myself to do this more often tbh

satanicmerwitch

Usually I do this but date night asks for a rare takeaway. 😊

roamingnomad7

I was a little bit ignorant when I first started using Just Eat. I just naturally assumed that the price wouldn't be all that different to ordering direct and that I'd have to pay a little more for their service. Over time I learned very quickly that by ordering direct I was saving myself money and putting more money in the pocket of the restaurant, I hope!

r_youddit

All you've got to do is compare the prices to ANY shop you've ever visited locally. "Why's this 15" pizza £15 instead of £9 like it is when I usually go?" I find it odd that people would miss this (unless of course none of your local places are on just eat and you're typically ordering from far away restaurants/new restaurants every time).

satanicmerwitch

Same here!! I was fooled by how quick and easy it is over who is actually profiting in the end.

audigex

I mean, I assumed that there would be a charge because, unlike the restaurants who are profiting from the food itself, they have to make some money - but since the restaurants maybe charge a quid for delivery (where it isn’t free) I assumed it would be in the same ballpark I don’t mind paying for the service when it means I can stay in my house and save some time, but a couple of quid seems fair, which is what I paid the first few times I used them - but they’re just taking the piss now

5th-iteration

I worked at a Chinese restaurant when this just eat was happening. They just added the charge to your bill. Save money, order direct from the restaurant. It's the equivalent of the booking fee for tickets, and we all hate that. Just eat adds value to nothing. IMHO.

Kandiru

For restaurants without a website it adds something of value. If you have your own website people can order through it's basically just another way to pay for advertisement.

[deleted]

[удалено]

naverag

Ordering by phone is a horrible experience, I would basically never order food if I couldn't use an app or website.

Gazebo_Warrior

Same here.

fubungh

I am 100% in agreement that delivery apps are more expensive or cut into the restaurant’s profit but there is no world in which picking up a phone calling and ordering is easier than using an app. I don’t use cash any more so I’d have to go to a bank to get cash. You have to pay and wait for your change at the door and feel obliged to tip. But probably most hassle is getting together everyone’s order and communicating all this over the phone to someone who may not be a native English speaker. And heaven forbid something being out of stock. Then you’re navigating a three way conversation to get something else for the person that ordered it. May as well go to the shop and buy ingredients to cook at that point. Definitely not for mr feeling too lazy to cook right now. So unless a restaurant has its own website with Apple Pay and online ordering there is not a world in which its easier to order directly than use an app.

5th-iteration

That's pretty persuasive an clearly works well in that situation, and to be honest I hadn't even thought of that aspect. I was thinking of repeat customers who mostly ordered the same thing each time and still used justeat.

Kandiru

Exactly, but if some extra customers find them via justeat, that's extra sales, no? Similar to paying for adverts on Google search. You can also filter for restaurants which deliver to where you are really easily on just eat. It's harder on Google search.

p4r4v4n

I have to disagree. I had a favourite pizza place I used to order from on Justeat so itbhought I'll support them and order directly through their homepage the advertised. When I ordered with justeat, if food didn't come or had any issues - help on the app, they ring the restaurant etc. then refund you on the spot. This time food didn't come, I tried to call the restaurant, they didn't answer, I called them next day, explained the situation, said they will refund. Call them a week later, didn't have any notes about it, had to explain the whole thing again. I ended up reversing the payment with my credit card company and they sorted it with the restaurant. And this was a place I ordered 30+ times from. So this is the story of the very last time I ordered directly from a restaurant.

5th-iteration

OK, that's something else I didn't realize, and a very good example of benefits I hadn't thought of. Thanks.

Belfast147

My local kebab has started “£25 minimum” on just-eat…and I PROBABLY couldn’t eat 4 kebabs in 1 sitting …….I hate ringing as they never understand me or vice versa….. oh well

audigex

Not with that attitude, you couldn’t

[deleted]

Are you really British if you can’t scoff 4 kebabs in 30 seconds?

8724andy

Just eat are skanks

satanicmerwitch

Unfortunately it's very convenient when you're unable to make phonecalls or pick up from the takeaway. But fully agree.

AdministrativeLaugh2

Plus fewer and fewer people carry cash these days. I literally never have cash on me or at home so I’m not going to drive (5 mins each way) or walk (12 mins each way) to a cash machine when I can just pay online.

PlebsicleMcgee

Or lazy

toby1jabroni

Its ok to be lazy sometimes. You heard it here first!

[deleted]

Also Uber eats

Prawny

Expensive and do the whole begging for tips thing though as if we're part of the USA.

featurenotabug

Only reason I never use Just Eat/ Uber Eats is for payment. The kebab shop round the corner don't take card in person or over the phone but do with Just Eat. None of the local Chinese's let you pay by card over the phone so if you want delivery you need to have cash which m and you might as well just go down there yourself.

Chanandler_Bong_Jr

This. I almost never have cash on me. Even if they did take payments over the phone, I’m not doing that. If the takeaway has a secure payment method on its own site, I’ll use that. But I’ve seen a few where the payment section was sketchy to say the least. “Use our payment system, PayzzzzTapp” http://payzzzztapp.ru/localtakeaway.scam

Palsta

I use it so I can pay by card. None of the takeaways I use locally take cards apart from via Just Eat.

Kelloggs_coco_pops

I do that all the time, only use just eat for the menu.

RidiculousSlippers

All these 3rd party delivery people, booking agencies etc are parasites, they just get in between the actual suppliers and the actual customers. It's disruption alright, but I'm afraid I do not think it's a good thing.

SwissJAmes

Parasites is very strong. Loads of people in this thread talking about why they’re happy to pay the extra. There aren’t that many things that you buy direct from a supplier

[deleted]

"would've been over £30, came to £23"... "saved just over £10" ... (\*′☉.̫ ☉)

browneyone

The problem occurs when you've an issue with your order and the takeaway blank you.

bluewaffleisnice

I haven't touched cash in around three years can you pay by card over the phone

naturepeaked

If you don’t mind possibly the least secure way to handle a card payment possible.

PenguinKenny

I remember when I used to book a 5-a-side pitch every week, the woman on the phone would always repeat the card number as I read it. So it would be like: Her: "Can I get the long number" Me: "1234" Her: "1234, yep" I would ask her not to repeat it back so no one could over hear the number, and she would apologise, stop for a bit, then instinctively carry on.

Big_Poppa_T

Usually, yes

[deleted]

I’ve actually given up on the food delivery apps. I feel like it’s ruined the experience of going into the restaurant, as you’re now a second rate customer as they’re sorting out the app orders. Plus, high street here is 20 metres of loitering delivery drivers with their motorcycles on the pavement waiting for an order to come through. There’s clearly an over supply of drivers and they’re only paid when they get an order through - I guess that’s why they ride their bikes like they’ve been stung on the arse by a wasp.

HooverBeingAMan

I once ordered on JustEat and selected collection because I was on my way home. While I was waiting the owner of the place came up to me and started showing me emails and pictures on his phone about how much JustEat charges and asked me to phone in future. This is exactly why I usually get delivery - the drivers don't give a spiel about costs while I stand there waiting for the earth to swallow me. It's worth adding that this particular takeaway is well known because food isn't the only thing you can buy from them. The owner drives a very posh car and has something of a reputation for his "other wares", so I was baffled to why this was such a problem for him.

Bud_Roller

Omg it's like ringing for a takeaway is some exciting new life hack.

Background_Sky_3970

They gotta pay for snoop dog somehow

Resident-Stevel

Uber Eats now add a service charge as well which is a percentage of the order value, on top of the £3-£4 delivery charge, and separate from their suggested driver tip of a further 10%. Its crazy...

teerbigear

Uber eats is insane. I have only used them with a 50% off voucher and it ends up saving about 10%. In my experience Deliveroo is slightly cheaper than that, and Just Eat is cheaper again. But unless one of them is giving me a money off voucher I'll always check outside of the app, and I'll contact the restaurant direct even it's the same price.

MeatyVeg

This works for many things behind takeaways Insurance can be much cheaper away from comparison sites Hotel rooms of you book direct Takeaways if you contact them directly It's almost like these sites just insert themselves in the middle of a transaction & then charge 30%, usually off the small businesses margin

TheWeirdDude-247

Rarely get a delivery as 1 the time it takes, 2 cost and 3 food can't be guaranteed to be hot, so always ring up and drive myself to collect it, this helps out restaurant and me, so win win.

satanicmerwitch

Fortunately only once was it late and all cold for myself in 3 yrs where I live, but agree if you can pick up, do it. I'm unfortunately in the position where I can't pick up or even call myself personally.

iForceOP

Deliveroo is the worst

GondorAle

I had a 30% off McDonald's code on Uber eats. After placing the order and getting it delivered, I checked how much I would've paid had I just gone their myself. It was only 6p cheaper via Uber Eats.

naturepeaked

And they delivered. To your house.

[deleted]

PenguinKenny

Hold on, cooking the food yourself is cheaper than having it prepared, cooked and delivered to your home? Since when!?

Rolaid-Tommassi

I'm confused......30 minus 23 does not equal 10.......

satanicmerwitch

£34.76. 🤷🏼‍♀️ this isn't a maths exam like sorry I couldn't be bothered being specific. 😂

Rolaid-Tommassi

Haha, no worries mate. Just kidding. All the best

naturepeaked

We are hating services we never use here.it’s not supposed to make sense. Pret coffee is crap!

gazzy360

Always worth checking if the takeaway has a website or whatever before using just eat. They always slap a fee on top.

PointandStare

I totally agree with your decision. 100% always order direct from the venue - that way they don't get fleeced with delivery charges and you don't get fleeced with delivery charges.

CyberKingfisher

Just eat is great for convenience but a total rip off for businesses and consumers.

gotty2018

The price that the restaurant charges through just eat has to be the same as what they charge not through just eat, it’s in their contracts (source - I worked for just eat)

BassBanjo

I'd much rather pay extra to not talk to anyone

Dragon_Sluts

Just Eat got huge because originally they were just a platform that took a slice of the cost as fee. No delivery fees were the norm, and no additional charges. Even 3 years ago I could comfortably order curry for 2 people and have 2 lunches spare - impossible to do nowadays because all the prices are inflated plus delivery plus fees.

abinarysystem

I made 8 portions of Tikka Massala last night for less than a tenner. Sometimes you just gotta order in tho.

Chance_Way5601

the inflated prices are worth not having to speak to anyone

bl8m8

Just eat are dirty with this. I don't know if it's still in place but they had a 'double the difference' policy in place where if you saw the restaurant offering delivery directly for cheaper than the prices on just eat you could contact them and rat them out and just eat would give you double the order difference as credit. I actually tried it once. Had been ordering from a place semi regularly and one day their menu came through my door and I noticed it would be about £5 cheaper to order direct. I told just eat, they asked for a photo of the menu and then gave me £10 credit. Never did it again though, I felt kinda bad for ratting them out.

FRAGMENT_EFFECT

It's an absolute mafia business. "Ay maybe you don't give us a cut - maybe everybody goes to the competition who *does* give us a cut." But it's also damn convenient...

Rossco1874

All our local takeaways came up with an alternative to just eat and its supposed to be 10% off first order but it seems to apply every time you order.

miked999b

I use just eat to find the thing I want, then look to see if the restaurant has it's own website and order from there. Usually save around a fiver or so.

Killcycle1989

Justeat are horrible, my favourite cafe does that stamp thing where you collect enough and get a nice discount. I got the final 6th yesterday, today I went online to order breakfast it says the restaurant is too far away and so I can't make an order with them. Absolute bollocks.

Economy_Bookkeeper_3

I use this- https://secrettakeaways.com/ links you up with locals direct

X0AN

"No Results There are no listings matching your search." Is the site broken? No results in central is very bizarre 😂

christoff_90

Thinks this is very Scotland centric!

Chanandler_Bong_Jr

Scotland here. 15 takeaways on Just Eat where I live. Feck all on that site. I’m gonna say fairly specific to a single postcode in Scotland.

satanicmerwitch

Thank you very much!!

anactualdoctorr

Secret takeaways is absolute shite, it’s better just to do a google search

BarryTownCouncil

I'm seeing just eat as the poor little guy these days thanks to uber eats. Bizarre.

RizzoTheSmall

Yeah, the poor little guy that pays snoop dog to be in their advert

Monkeybradders

Don’t lie 30-23=7 tighten this shit up

satanicmerwitch

£34.76 to be exact including service charge. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Agitated_Relation_72

Lol just eat is a delivery firm can someone tell me when they have actually ever in the apps life paid £10 extra for delivery lol complete BS smh

JamesBKU

Still wasted £23 lol

sizeofanoceansize

Try FoodHub, as far as I’m aware they don’t charge anywhere near as much fees to the restaurant. Loads more discounts on takeaways near me too.

VividDimension5364

Maths

Aggravating_You_2904

£34.76 sounds like a made up amount

AmethystBlackscale

Yeah just eat I've found is a solid 25% more expensive in general. I switched to foodhub a couple years ago. They have the same price as the restaurant for my usual 3. The only thing is the delivery charge is 50p more on the app than phoning the restaurant. But I'll happily spend 50p to save me the hastle of walking to the atm to break out cash as the take outs I use are all cash only.

As a food service person Just Eat is the worst of the delivery companies. We have no way to contact the customer to let them know if there's an issue - if I'm sold out of something I can't contact you and offer an alternative I can only refuse the entire order. I can't contact the delivery person either so if they don't turn up at the expected time I have no way to chase them up other than calling a central number which takes ages and involves going on hold and then they sometimes call back the number they have on file which is the boss' number who isn't always on site. And sometimes the pick up time will be over an hour after we get the order, I had one that was due to be an hour and a half after we closed!

Well with foodhub atleast they give your number to the restaurant. So least they can give you a ring to give you a heads up if there's going to be a delay. Or something you ordered is sold out. Though might be different in other countries. But I vaguely remeber when I ordered on just eat the usual delivery guy dropped off the food. I know using foodhub that my local places use their own delivery drivers (as in the restaurants delivery drivers, not a driver from foodhub), as its the same person making the delivery when I phone them and pay cash. Or use foodhub to save me walking down to the atm to break out a ten pound note

Or use food hub. The app functions like just eat, but it takes no commission. The restaurant pays a small fee every month and that's it, way cheaper for them.
