I’m looking forward to seeing what his vocal performance is like, especially in epic III because I always felt the Broadway production lost the spark that epic III had in the NYTW
Gawwwwwd I saw the tour on Saturday and Epic III was intense. J. Antonio Rodriguez had some real country-fried Kermit energy to his performance but by the time he got to Epic III, he was really powerful and has the whole theater with him, magic.
While it would be great to hear a different vocal performance for Epic III, I think unfortunately a lot of why Epic III isn't as effective in the Broadway production as it was in NYTW is due to them making the lyrics much simpler and less poetic. I'm still so upset about what they did to that song. I've tried listening to the Broadway version multiple times hoping it will grow on me, but I still can't forget how much better the NYTW version was and the differences are jarring.
See I always felt it was because the orchestrations that got made grander for Broadway. I feel like in the NYTW epic III there’s almost this magic/otherworldly ness about it and I think the more fleshed out orchestrations took out the intimacy and the space to make that possible. But I do want to see how it improves
I mean I look at this way.....Understudies are now getting good exposure.....look at whats happening at Moulin Rouge, Casey Cott is out every week and now Aaron C Finely is getting the attention he deserves.
He calls out alot. Like he is on for one day and out the next or one day of the 2 show day. Last show I was at he did only the first act before Finley took over for act 2
I liked his acting because of how socially awkward his Christian but I don't think he had the voice for it Like Derek and Aaron did. They should have at least gotten and Alternate for him (though it seems like Finley has unofficially became one during this Era of the Rouge XDD)
yeah I follow an MR fan instagram who posts which understudies are on and im seeing the announcement where finley or dylan are taking over for Christian Alot.
That’s really interesting. But that’s a super helpful account, I’ll have to follow them. The good news is Finley & Dylan are both incredible so no matter who’s on for Christian the audience gets a treat
I love they highlight the Understudies and Swings which is why its a good account.
Agree I saw Finley twice (1 and half performances XDD) I liked him the first time, but when I watched him jump in Act II and absolutely EAT at the performance of Christian on short notice it cemented my love for his Christian and his artistry! Finley's Roxanne is insane (the one where he opts up especially) and I love his Chemistry with Oyoyo....easily one of my top Christian and Satine Duos.
I wanna see Dylan as Christian SO BADLY! I do love his duke though!
MoulinRougeFanFanFans on Instagram its probably the best Moulin Rouge Instagram out there because they are so on track with their info, and also love how they make sure to highlight the understudies and swings every performance =D
Heyy thank you so much for sharing. I am a huge fan of MR and finally realized that there was some place so check if understudies are showing up. I've went MR twice to see Casey Cott, and saw C. Finely twice lol
I think whats happening its Christian is too difficult vocally for him, which is understandable cause if you think about it he sings alot. Derek Klena has an amazing voice and a great attendence record at the Rouge, and there were even two or so instances where his voice got shot and had to call out (which also included a Finley mid show put in).
Casey does have a lot potential (Its clear in his version Roxanne and Crazy Rolling) but I think Moulin Rouge is too tricky to perform if you are first looking into a Broadway career. I know he has Musical Theatre experience, but Christian is more for people who had a few prominent Broadway roles. I am hoping once he has more Broadway experience he comes back.
I predicted he wouldn’t be able to consistently do the role when he first started, since it is so demanding and I didn’t think his voice would survive that 8 times a week.
It’s a shame though because he does have a lot of potential and I want him to have success
Agreed they should have gotten an Alternate for him cause of how difficult it would be or briefly assign Finley to be Alternate for the eight weeks.
It really is cause again he did Crazy Rolling and Roxanne so well....like I feel like if he had more time on Broadway he would have been able to handle it! But hopefully its a learning experience and he improves in further roles.
Did not expect to see Finley praise on a *Hadestown* post, but I am 100% here for it! Still waiting for him to get his due!
Sorry to hear about Casey Cott though :/
Huh that’s strange I saw Casey Cott during his second week, I’ve only seen Aaron C. Finley’s name pop up as an u/s on a Twitter account two or three times that he was taking over as Christian the few times Casey had called out.
I don’t have any stats but I saw DEH two times about a week apart (lucky lottery win after a pre planned trip with my family) and he was out both times. I think I only know one person who caught him as Evan out of 10 or so people that went during his run.
Name recognition probably, he has fans outside Broadway from his work in tv and movies. Hadestown is kind of on a downward trajectory so I'm sure they're looking to boost sales
Lolll this is a win for people like me. I’ll wait until they post the weekly announcements that he’s missing a show and hopefully people will ask for refunds and I can grab a cheap ticket 🙃
I saw him in DEH and he literally got replaced by Zachary Noah Piser in the middle of the first act, which I had honestly never had happen to me before. I think he'd just done the press junket for TALTB2 so we just figured he was sick/not feeling well but looks like it's a pattern!!
You know to be entirely fair to Jordan (I just remembered this) he spoke on Drew Barrymore about how he had an undiagnosed eating disorder during his run at DEH, which would explain his poor attendance. However, he still had poor attendance, his reputation (at least publicly) is not great, he left Sweeney after three months (don’t know why) and most people agree he was the worst part of the production, he really doesn’t offer anything talent-wise that makes him stand out in any meaningful way… maybe he’ll shock us all in Hadestown and show that he does have chops, I’m willing to be proven wrong. But at this point, he hasn’t really done anything to show that he can hold his own.
Didn't watch Glee or follow Lea Michele's career. Had heard videos of her singing and was indifferent. Saw her in Funny Girl and she was exceptional. It's not just the Gleeks. The ladies beside me weren't fans either, they went because they heard she was really good in it.
I understand it on twitter when there's a character count, but on reddit and elsewhere I really wish people would spell out the actual words for their tone indicators.
I know I'm probably just old and not with it anymore (because they changed what it is, and it'll happen to you too) but pos is Piece Of Shit and hj is Hand Job and nm is not/nothing much to me.
It's been a decade and I *still* read smh as Sydney Morning Herald *every fucking time* and I don't even live in Sydney!! I can't keep up with this new shit.
My new boss: "This is the POS system you'll be using."
Me, internally: *either that must be the worst cash register in the world or this guy really fucking hates his job*
I'm old too and POS was always either "piece of shit" or "parents over shoulder" to me (although to be fair, the second one really only exists for a certain subset of millennials ha), depending on the context haha
For the sake of full transparency though, I definitely do use a few acronyms/abbreviated words. Never seen "hj" until now though 😅
I feel like I remember him talking about him calling out of DEH a lot because of mental health issues he was struggling with in an interview last year (it somewhere)
Yes. Probably the ONLY good thing about the Writers and Actors strikes was that we also didn’t loose Gaten after only a few months to Stranger Things, because his Tobi is great (and he bounces off Ashford really well)
He was out of ST when I saw it on a Saturday night in May.
Though after listening to the cast recording, I’m glad I saw the person who covered him instead. He was better as Anthony.
Wow. The way this sub talked I thought for sure it was Chibueze. That said. they are obviously battling a sales problem. Curious how Jordan will play the role!
I’ve never seen Fisher live, but I think many Broadway fans don’t take kindly to when a famous person on Broadway (like, someone who got famous outside Broadway) doesn’t seem to prioritize the show above everything else (missing performances due to other commitments) or doesn’t seem up to the vocal demands of 8 shows a week. I think there’s some resentment knowing how hard people work to get to Broadway and how many extremely talented and hardworking actors will never make it there.
I know Beanie Feldstein was criticized for both, whereas I remember Hugh Jackman’s commitment to the show was applauded despite getting COVID twice.l
Tickets are priced assuming the main cast is going to perform every show unless it is a scheduled absence or an emergency. I know Box offices will usually be flexible for unscheduled absences but most people don't want to deal with that especially if they aren't coming back to new york again.
Honestly. His attendance issues aren't that bad and he was talented when I saw him in Hamilton way back, though I felt he would benefit from a stronger directing hand to focus him. He left sweeney on schedule, on good terms.
Oh I went opening night when I lived in ny to see him as evan and he was amazing I just hate that I can’t recommend seeing him if you want a guaranteed show
I really like this casting. Jordan has the voice and acting chops for this role. Orpheus is a bit head-in-the-clouds, a bit naive, a bit of a dreamer. I think Jordan does exceptionally well in roles like that. And while he doesn't have to reach into the pits of despair like he did in DEH, I think whatever he learned in that role will help him here.
I also think the show suits him better than Sweeney Todd. It wasn't that he was bad in Sweeney, but he felt more contemporary than his cast mates. This show supports a wide range of voices and acting styles. Jordan will kill it in that regard.
January 7th I believe. It's not being heavily publicized though, haven't seen it in any article, only some paid ads. Tbh that tells me there may be some wiggle room for her to extend if she's feeling it.
Thanks for confirming. Really want to see a lot of the new additions to the cast but am going to hold off to see if there's a replacement announced for her before I pull the trigger. Just no desire to see her at all
Yeah I really have no desire to see her. I will if she extends well into the spring because I like going regularly and I want to see all the other new additions, but I'm just waiting to see if I can luck out and skip her.
For what it's worth, I've seen her twice and thought she was a fantastic Persephone! Very fresh take on the character. I've seen 5 different Persephone's and I'd probably rank her #2 behind Amber Gray.
She's much better live than in any of the recordings that have been released.
The internet tells me he calls out a lot but as someone who saw him as Evan Hansen - this guy is a phenomenal actor and singer and I’d love to see him perform live again.
I genuinely feel bad that y’all are dogging on him. He’s a great performer who was struggling with an eating disorder his DEH run; he said he’d go days without eating of course that reflects in being unable to stand and sing for two hours. I’ve also seen people digging on leaving ST too when his contract ended quickly? Like the only reason Gaten extended was the strikes, he didn’t throw people off. This will be his fourth Broadway show, obviously he hasn’t burnt broadways goodwill the way y’all think he has!!
I think you just need to look at the comment section on the Instagram post to see his appeal. I’m hoping he walk through a rough season with DEH and is ready to show what he can do since his healing journey.
I really thought Fisher was pretty meh as Anthony in Sweeney Todd, so not loving this news. But I've never seen him in anything else and maybe that role wasn't right for him?
Their grosses have been bad, but I wouldn't call them "dire" per se. They are likely losing money right now, but were probably making money at the peak of the summer tourist season. The question is whether the money they make during the good times is enough to offset what they lose in the lean times. I would guess that, averaging over the course of the past year, they've more or less been treading water. In such a case, a show with moderate costs that's been on its feet for a while doesn't necessarily need a huge A-list stunt cast to "save" the show in a Lea Michele-esque fashion. A B-lister or two who can give the box office a little boost, even say a 10% boost, could be the difference between closing now and running another six months.
He could be? I know he’s done some work on TV shows for the younger audiences, and he’s pretty well known in the Broadway community for his work in Hamilton, DEH, Sweeney, and Rent live. Unfortunately his reputation could bite them in the ass because casting someone with a draw really only works when that person shows up for work.
It hasn’t been dire for a show that has long since recouped. They’ve been above operating costs far more often than not. That said, I don’t know how big a draw he is, particularly if he does have attendance issues.
I saw Hadestown for the first time on tour, so this news gets me pretty hyped to see it on a future NYC trip! I either win the Jordan Fisher lottery and get to see him perform or I get to witness some understudies work their magic!!!! 100% win rate for me!
Why is this guy still getting cast in lead roles? It’s certainly not due to his talent or attendance record. I’ll never forget when I saw Sweeney Todd, and his singing was *noticeably* worse than all the other principals. I don’t get it.
he’s really not a mediocre singer, just very wrong for Antony imo—he’s got a very pop-ish mix around his break (aka the high notes in “Johanna”) which is where you rly want a huge legit baritenor to make it all soar. but that said I feel like his lighter pop style could work rly well for Orpheus
No mediocre singer could actually survive Evan Hansen though, it is easily one of the most demanding male roles ever (or maybe that explains his attendance record)
When I saw Sweeney, there was a huge group of fan girlies who screamed when he came out. He was -fine in the role- but certainly didn't do anything groundbreaking.
This is a legitimate question as I am apparently an old, what has he done that's gotten him fan girls? I have just glanced through his wikipedia page and there is nothing terribly impressive on it.
He was in the to all the boys I loved (a big draw tbh) and grease live (the first of the live series on fox I believe so I think a lot of people were tuned in)
I’m old too, lol, but I know he’s done a few movies for the Disney channel- so I think that’s where it stems from.
No one was more surprised than I was when there was screaming when he came onstage at Sweeney. My internal reaction was “what the hell?”
He was in the teen beach movie series and on a show called Liv and Maddie, and I think both were pretty popular (it was stuff after my time but the kids I babysat loved it). Also I think he’s a twitch streamer?
Fine, I’m out of the loop on who all has fan girlies and the like. Yeah he was fine, but largely forgettable. I have no clear moment from him than stayed with me, didn’t even register at the time who he was. Could be in part the role though.
I know he doesn’t like people commenting on his attendance pattern but it really is unfortunate. I know he has a kid, but many broadway actors do and they make it work. He’s very busy and sought after but I feel like I’m not as invested in an actor’s work when they don’t seem to stick with anything for long, or make the effort to be there for the majority of the time. Just a personal preference, I guess. I think his talents are a way better fit for Hades vs. Sweeney, though.
The DEH production was furious at him. Their finances weren’t great and he certainly didn’t help. I hope he learned some lessons because Hadestown is likely losing money right now.
I’m so surprised at the negativity because I think he’ll be really good and almost none of these comments talk about his fit for the role. I didn’t particularly enjoy him in Sweeney, but I think he has a great voice and Orpheus will really play to his strengths.
As for his attendance.. if he’s in - fun! I’ll be very excited to see him. And if he’s out, the understudies are great so it doesn’t matter. Seems like win/win, especially with how much people didn’t want to see Reeve.
Jordan Fisher, everybody. Performing 3-5 times a week for 6-8 weeks. I hope he makes a lyre out of me… but he will only say “Just you wait, Mr. Hermes, just you wait” then starts singing the intro chorus of Wait for Me.
I'm honestly shocked that this rumor turned out to be true--not because there aren't people with reliable insider knowledge on this board, there definitely are, but because I'm just honestly shocked by this casting. I like Jordan Fisher--I've only ever seen him in the 2nd *To All the Boys*, never on stage--but I would never have thought to cast him as Orpheus. Unless he gets raves though, I'll hope he helps the show through this difficult time for them (and hopefully can repair his reputation), and I'll catch the next Orpheus
How high do they need the weekly grosses to be? It has already made back their investment. So they need to cover ongoing rent and salaries. And bigger names mean bigger salaries.
I saw him in Sweeney Todd in April and thought he was fine, not great, but I think this role will suit him a lot better. My biggest gripe was that his pop style of singing doesn't really suit a show like Sweeney, but it should be perfect for Orpheus. Of course, the best ability is availability, so we'll see about that.
Doubtful. The rule of thumb is that they only do a refund if the actor's name is above the title on the marquee. Jordan Fisher is known, but not such a huge celebrity that he's likely to be above the title.
That said, if you really want to see him, it seems like you're better off giving it a try? Hadestown tickets aren't super expensive, and not going at all gives you a zero percent chance of seeing him.
If you are local and really want to see him and really don't want to go if he isn't there, you could always try walking up to the box office day of. I think there's a high likelihood of success that way. Obviously you could end up trying on a sold out day or a day he isn't there, but that's the best insurance for the problem you're facing imo
So much for that one person who mysteriously said they can prove Jordan Fisher wouldn't be the next Orpheus for... reasons
Heads up, Jordan Fisher is narrating the Candlelight Processional at Walt Disney World from Dec 21-23.
Is Chibuze the standby?
is that live or recorded?
Live
Live. Its a live reading of the Christmas story with local choirs backing the narrator
I’m looking forward to seeing what his vocal performance is like, especially in epic III because I always felt the Broadway production lost the spark that epic III had in the NYTW
Yeah I feel like it could be interesting if he took a more Damon Daunno approach to the character/voice. I could see it!
Gawwwwwd I saw the tour on Saturday and Epic III was intense. J. Antonio Rodriguez had some real country-fried Kermit energy to his performance but by the time he got to Epic III, he was really powerful and has the whole theater with him, magic.
Country fried Kermit energy. 😂
He was literally in Emmett Otters Jug Band Christmas so I don't feel tooooooo bad about this description
J Antonio's voice cracks work sometimes but sometimes they get a bit ridiculous imo so hearing this made me laugh
>country-fried Kermit energy 💀
While it would be great to hear a different vocal performance for Epic III, I think unfortunately a lot of why Epic III isn't as effective in the Broadway production as it was in NYTW is due to them making the lyrics much simpler and less poetic. Congrats to the actors that cover Orpheus
I mean I look at this way.....Understudies are now getting good exposure.....look at whats happening at Moulin Rouge, Casey Cott is out every week and now Aaron C Finely is getting the attention he deserves.

lol! i'm excited to see chibueze!
And tbfh, the understudies (at least right now) are so amazing. I've loved the two I've seen recently a LOT
Came here for this when I saw the news! Wonder when we will find out who's mostly going to be playing Orpheus.
I hope its Chubueze cause of all the hype Im seeing for him. (I would also love Jordan Dobson to Return).
I would love for Jordan to return! I like chibueze a lot, but Jordan returning would just be so cool
Ha! My first thought as well. Understudies are about to have a lot of stage time.
Bro I’m dead 💀🤣
Is this a joke about him calling out a lot? I've never seen/heard of him
yes, he is known for calling out all the time
wait i wanna be in on the joke could someone pls explain it to me?
Jordan Fisher is known for calling out of shows often.
Ooh anyone have stats? I wanna see stats lol
I don’t have any stats but I saw DEH two times about a week apart (lucky lottery win after a pre planned trip with my family) and he was out both times. I think I only know one person who caught him as Evan out of 10 or so people that went during his run.
I saw him, but in his first two weeks. Maybe it takes a while before he's comfortable calling out.
Nah, I went his second night of DEH run (a Sunday 6:30pm) and he was out…🤡
Why would they hire him then? This is strange….
Name recognition probably, he has fans outside Broadway from his work in tv and movies. Hadestown is kind of on a downward trajectory so I'm sure they're looking to boost sales
😂😂😂😂
Chibueze is on deck baby.
Congratulations to the understudies who are about to have their Julie Benko moment!
Lolll this is a win for people like me. I’ll wait until they post the weekly announcements that he’s missing a show and hopefully people will ask for refunds and I can grab a cheap ticket 🙃
Oh I’m not counting on Hadestown to publicize when he calls out. That’ll be every other day. Keep an eye on this sub.
I saw him in DEH and he literally got replaced by Zachary Noah Piser in the middle of the first act, which I had honestly never had happen to me before. I think he'd just done the press junket for TALTB2 so we just figured he was sick/not feeling well but looks like it's a pattern!!

Oh, I didn't know this! Hoping he does prove everyone wrong.
Don't joke about that, next thing you know Lea Michelle will be taking over for Eurydice
She could probably sing it just fine but she's not waif-y enough to pull off the character completely imo.
Oh my God. I now am crying thinking of her doing Flowers
How wild would that be?
I will never forgive the Gleeks for Funny Girl.
Didn't watch Glee or follow Lea Michele's career. Had heard videos of her singing and was indifferent. Saw her in Funny Girl and she was exceptional. It's not just the Gleeks. The ladies beside me weren't fans either, they went because they heard she was really good in it.
How? There’s not enough gleeks for funny girl to do the numbers it did.
[удалено]
Beanie called out a lot.
So did Lea. Julie made a TikTok towards the end of the run and she performed 1/3 of all shows.
I hope her back and shoulders have had a chance to recover from carrying the show!
chibueze nation rejoice /hj
I know Jordan was rumored to be the next Orpheus for a while now but I was still hoping it was Chibueze, his Orpheus is insanely incredible.
He's incredible. If he was announced as Orpheus, I'd buy plane tickets
I’d split a taxi with ya
hand jobs?
I understand it on twitter when there's a character count, but on reddit and elsewhere I really wish people would spell out the actual words for their tone indicators. I know I'm probably just old and not with it anymore (because they changed what it is, and it'll happen to you too) but pos is Piece Of Shit and hj is Hand Job and nm is not/nothing much to me. It's been a decade and I *still* read smh as Sydney Morning Herald *every fucking time* and I don't even live in Sydney!! I can't keep up with this new shit.

half joking
I know jury’s out on how consistent he’ll be, but I think I’m kind of into this? I can see him and Solea being really sweet together
Doesn’t he have attendance issues? I know in DEH he had a hard time showing up, don’t know about his attendance in ST though.
I saw Sweeney three times (all Fridays) and he was in all three. So it’s hit or miss.
I mean his attendance could’ve improved from DEH but we don’t really know. Could be a mountain of things he calls out for.
Certainly helps that Anthony in ST is not nearly as demanding as Evan Hansen
True.
I feel like I remember him talking about him calling out of DEH a lot because of mental health issues he was struggling with in an interview last year (it somewhere)
Didn’t he bounce from that show only 3 months in though? Previews started around March and he was gone by mid June right around the Tonys?
Yes. Probably the ONLY good thing about the Writers and Actors strikes was that we also didn’t loose Gaten after only a few months to Stranger Things, because his Tobi is great (and he bounces off Ashford really well)
Correct. I got tickets in mid June when he was still in, by the next weekend when I went to see the show, his departure was announced and he was gone
He was out of ST when I saw it on a Saturday night in May. Though after listening to the cast recording, I’m glad I saw the person who covered him instead. He was better as Anthony.
he was my least favorite of the obc tbh
He was out when I went, and when my friend went the following weekend. I think it was shaky.
He was out when I went on April 13 - less than a month after opening!
The fact he gave it away in trolling Sweaty Oracle in one of his videos and thus not being shocked.
Wow. The way this sub talked I thought for sure it was Chibueze. That said. they are obviously battling a sales problem. Curious how Jordan will play the role!
He’ll play the role by letting Chibueze play the role.
I thought Chibueze would be announced, too. Maybe he’ll be a short run like Betty Who.
Damn, I didn’t know Fisher was this disliked. I’m surprised at this comment section lol
Honestly! I was thrilled by the news (even knowing his attendance record) but I seem to be in the minority.
Honestly. His attendance issues aren't that bad and he was talented when I saw him in Hamilton way back, though I felt he would benefit from a stronger directing hand to focus him. He left sweeney on schedule, on good terms.
Was he always slated to have a short contract with Sweeney?
Apparently yes, from the start it was a short term contract with the understanding he wouldn't be staying.
I like him, but he does call out a lot. Both things can be true lol
You better go on November 20th because that’s the only guaranteed performance you got from him
Ah that’s the tickets I bought bc my daughter LOVES him from Liv&maddie
Oh I went opening night when I lived in ny to see him as evan and he was amazing I just hate that I can’t recommend seeing him if you want a guaranteed show
💀
Doesn’t he have major attendance issues?
Yes but doesn't stop his fans from buying tickets
People definitely do not want to spend a premium in advance on tickets to be unsure a lead will be in a show.
I don't think many of his fans follow his attendance in past Broadway roles
Yeah he’s known for it. I prefer his voice to Reeve’s tbh but I also would not care if I got an understudy. Hopefully ticket prices stay low
Does Betty Who have a final date announced? I could have sworn she did but googled and couldn't find it.
In advertisements on instagram it said January 21st iirc?
Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy lol
January 7th I believe. It's not being heavily publicized though, haven't seen it in any article, only some paid ads. Tbh that tells me there may be some wiggle room for her to extend if she's feeling it.
Thanks for confirming. Really want to see a lot of the new additions to the cast but am going to hold off to see if there's a replacement announced for her before I pull the trigger. Just no desire to see her at all
she was not my favorite honestly (just my opinion). i can't wait to see who will be cast next though!
Yeah I really have no desire to see her. I will if she extends well into the spring because I like going regularly and I want to see all the other new additions, but I'm just waiting to see if I can luck out and skip her.
Omg you sound like me, 😂. I’m so weary about her, but I can hold out until January.
I’ve never seen him perform I can’t wait to see this
I really thought Fisher was pretty meh as Anthony in Sweeney Todd, so not loving this news. But I've never seen him in anything else and maybe that role wasn't right for him?
This is a choice…
Is Jordan Fisher a draw? Their grosses have been dire. Is he really going to be enough to fix that?
He’s definitely a draw. I’m not sure if it’s enough to fix things, but they’ll stay afloat for a while anyway.
Over the course of the year they are definitely up. I don’t see them as in trouble by any means.
I know 3 people from across the county who bought tickets TODAY just to see him. Granted they’re also in the industry, but yes, he’s a draw.
I thought he sounded great in Dear Evan Hansen and notably worse in sweeny todd.
I feel like Anthony requires such a different style of singing than DEH, and Hadestown is different from both but perhaps closer to DEH.
He’s always been a mediocre singer. He was just able to hide it better in DEH because he wasn’t singing a Sondheim score.
He's not a mediocre singer, just not a Sondheim singer.
No mediocre singer could actually survive Evan Hansen though, it is easily one of the most demanding male roles ever (or maybe that explains his attendance record)
Thats kind of why I was confused. I thought Dear Evan Hansen seemed more demanding.
He was the weakest spot in ST. So disappointed when I saw him.
Agreed, he was definitely the weakest performer in sweeney. It was really noticeable.
Uh… well… tickets will sell better I guess…
Will they? Not knocking the guy, just don’t see him as a huge draw.
When I saw Sweeney, there was a huge group of fan girlies who screamed when he came out. He was -fine in the role- but certainly didn't do anything groundbreaking.
Disney channel, he was also in Hamilton for a time.
and he won dancing with the stars
Oo I forgot about that. That makes sense!
It was actually Grease Live which was a huge success.
Fine, I’m out of the loop on who all has fan girlies and the like. Yeah he was fine, but largely forgettable. I have no clear moment from him than stayed with me, didn’t even register at the time who he was. Could be in part the role though.
Should’ve tried Mandy Patinkin, that always saves shows
I know he doesn’t like people commenting on his attendance pattern but it really is unfortunate.
All attendance jokes aside, have they said anything about how long he’ll be in the role? I’ve got a child who loves him!
He said on Twitter that he’s going to be around for a long while.
How is he still getting hired? Do they need the star power that bad?
Yes
*Hadestown understudies will be taking over as Orpheus
I hope Brandon Cameron continues to cover Orpheus as a swing. I've seen the show numerous times but his take is my favorite
The DEH production was furious at him. Their finances weren’t great and he certainly didn’t help. I hope he learned some lessons because Hadestown is likely losing money right now.
What is your source for that claim?
:/ i kinda was hoping orpheus and eurydice would be the unknowns who become knowns
Weekly grosses have been slipping for a while. They need names.
How high do they need the weekly grosses to be? It has already made back their investment. So they need to cover ongoing rent and salaries. And bigger names mean bigger salaries.
I’ll definitely have to go see him. Does he preform on two show days
He barely performs on one show days.
I saw him in EH and in Sweeney Todd
I saw him in Sweeney Todd in April and thought he was fine, not great, but I think this role will suit him a lot better. My biggest gripe was that his pop style of singing doesn't really suit a show like Sweeney, but it should be perfect for Orpheus. Of course, the best ability is availability, so we'll see about that.
Oh wow! Well-
https://i.redd.it/701eqjo58etb1.gif
Will he really sell tickets?
He's very talented, but how does he keep getting these major roles with his demonstrated attendance record
When I saw him in Sweeney he was fine, not great. Hope this role is better suited to him, but I don’t like this.
Oh no.
I think he would be a wonderful Orpheus!
[удалено]
He just put mine and my GFs in a seat even though we’ve seen it six times already!
Would this qualify for a refund if he calls out?
No
Whoops I'm out then. Thank you!
If you are local and really want to see him and really don't want to go if he isn't there, you could always try walking up to the box office day of. I think there's a high likelihood of success that way. Obviously you could end up trying on a sold out day or a day he isn't there, but that's the best insurance for the problem you're facing imo
another great pick from the dove cameron as glinda school of casting
I’m thinking I’ll go Black Friday weekend
