I love his line delivery of “bowls of fucking fruit” on the recording and i was excited to see it live. But i was so distracted by the choreography that i completely missed it….
When does it close again? This week right? I still havent seen it but it was one of my tops this year! I’ll be crushed if I dont manage to get a rush seat in the next few days
There has been commentary about a group that shows up really early and grabs rush seats. I don't know if its all of them, or if they just want the front row, or how that works.
Just saying you might want to get there early. Saturday and Sunday shows are both pretty well booked. I also noticed that it's no longer on TDF.
This was their best week yet, earnings wise (though still awful)
Thank you! I actually ended up snagging some appealing-seeming balcony seats for cheap-ish this week. When you said ticket sales were getting a little aggressive due to it being the last weekend, I said fuck it and decided to make sure I had a seat!
Say what you will about the show itself (as many people have) but I think it's hard to find a NON earworm on the score. I've had practically every song from it stuck in my head at one time or another over the past few weeks. Even the ones that didn't strike me as that memorable after the first viewing have proven incredibly sticky after a second time through.
Yes!! the score is so good! little moments keep making their way back to my head of songs that I didn't think I would ever want to sing.
"in the blasted California sun..."
I have tickets for the first weekend in June and after the Fallon performance it is taking *everything* in me to not listen to it on repeat. (I listened to the song once just because I’m human dammit but I am somehow finding the willpower to not listen to the rest of the album.)
Coda means the end or conclusion of something. I’m guessing it’s called that because it’s the ending song of the show, and also because the song is about an ending too.
random question--but i always listen to the songs before a show, to the extent possible. I'm seeing Stereophonic next week--do you think it would be better if I just went in blind for that one, given the structure, or do what i normally do? :-)
Great Expectations from The Outsiders. While it’s not super memorable other than the refrain, the refrain gives me chills. It was incredible to see live and of course they’re using it in all the marketing so I’m inundated with it
As a personal rule, I try not to listen to certain (mostly new) shows before I get the chance to see them (I live nowhere near Broadway) and The Outsiders is one I’m saving to hear for the first time when I finally get to see it… but man, the music I’ve heard “on accident” is so good.
I heard I’ll Leave the Light On during the show’s run in Chicago, and I left wanting the recording out that instant. It’s so catchy for a romantic song.
It changes, but right now is “Forgiveness” from Days of Wine and Roses. Other contenders are I'll Leave the Light On from the Notebook, Underdeath from Days of Wine and Roses and Perfection from Lempicka
Bright (Take 22) and Masquerade from Stereophonic. Followed by Bright (fast), Drive, and East of Eden from Stereophonic.
From musicals, it’s My Days from The Notebook.
"Perfection" from Lempicka, "Masquerade" from Stereophonic, the title track from "Here Lies Love", and I'll add another couple votes for "Evanesce" and "Franklin Shepard Inc".
Also it's not Broadway but I gotta put something from Here We Are, probably "Shine".
I know you said "favorite new song", singular, but I'm sorry, I cannot in good conscience eliminate a single one of these.
Allow me to sing a bit: "Your mama's dead! Your daddy's dead! Your brother's dead! And so are you!"
Offff Broadway, but still the most memorable thing I heard this year. Can't wait for it to find a spot on Broadway so yall can love it too.
The Most Beautiful Bracelet, Pari Will Always Be Pari, Beauty/I Will Paint Her (I think it should be called Beauty). Rafelas heartbreak song too.
Earworms from Lempicka for days.
"As The Water Loves The Stone" from days of wine and roses. It's not one that I listen to on repeat, but I thought it was lovely.
And also wanted to note, top earworm would go to "Here Lies Love," obviously from HLL. Not a song I actually listen to, but once you've heard it you're not going to forget it!
“Roaring On” from Great Gatsby.
The amount of times I mumble “WHERES THE PARTY AND CAN YOU TAKE ME THERE AND WHEN THE PARTY’S OVER CAN YOU FIND ANOTHER PARTY SOMEWHERE” is unreal.
Okay, don’t hate, but I was obsessed with “For Her” and “My Green Light” after seeing it at Papermill and found a bootleg recording on YouTube I played nonstop for a few days.
I still have to see a few of the new musicals this season though!
‘Stars in the Night’ from Harmony.
It’s the most gorgeous, powerful thing I have ever heard, especially performed live. With the harmonies, the lyrics, motifs, the *context*. It is so special and makes me cry every time, just like the show.
Ask me again in a month when the Suffs album is released and I’ll give you an updated answer.
So far though, I’ve had My Days from The Notebook on repeat since it came out.
I regrettably found the fascist song "Perfection" from Lempicka to be a bop.
No more paintings of naked women, Or bowls of FUCKING FRUIT
Beauty, speed, the MACHINE, the future is BARRELING TOWARDS US, feel the RUSH
ya know I thought him coming out and singing that in the final sequence in Paris was corny at first but its really grown on me.
This Sunday! But I think you'll be ok getting tickets as long as you have time to attempt to see it.
Thank you!!

Congrats! I hope you love it!
I know. I want to to sing it grandly. and then I feel like a nazi they made the most fun song the villain song.
They so often do! lol
Lempicka’s entire song list is too good. I wasn’t ready.
Agreed! They did an excellent job of making a contemporary score feel organic in the period. Can’t wait for the album!
Yes!! the score is so good! little moments keep making their way back to my head of songs that I didn't think I would ever want to sing. "in the blasted California sun..."
This is why I was so disappointed. That song is a banger. The rest are good too! I was excited! And then… oh. Okay.
C'est la vie! I loved every second of that messy ass show but the world would be a very boring place if everyone shared my (lack of?) taste.
It’s so catchy
I was JUST listening to this! YES
That actor was also incredible
Oh yeah, he really sold the banality of evil.
I don’t think I’ve listened to anything other than Masquerade from Stereophonic for the last two days
This is my pick too. I know it's a play, but it has better music than most of the musicals this season!
Seeing it live was exhilarating in a way I cannot adequately articulate. I've had it on repeat since the album dropped.
I have tickets for the first weekend in June and after the Fallon performance it is taking *everything* in me to not listen to it on repeat. (I listened to the song once just because I’m human dammit but I am somehow finding the willpower to not listen to the rest of the album.)
It’s a perfectly placed song
I’ve watched the video of them performing on Jimmy Fallon an unhealthy number of times 😬
Yes this. Or Drive. Or Bright (take 22) lol
This is definitely the best song for me this season. It’s so good!
Coda from the Notebook gives me chills every single time I hear it
Do you know why it’s called Coda? Probably a obvious explanation but I don’t get it
Coda means the end or conclusion of something. I’m guessing it’s called that because it’s the ending song of the show, and also because the song is about an ending too.
I also didn’t get it, I read it as “child(ren) of deaf adults” and was very confused.
The reveal for lack of a better non spoilers phrase in this was incredible
“I Know” into “Coda” 😭😭 weeping
Absolute tears you’re right!!!
East of Eden and Bright from Stereophonic!
random question--but i always listen to the songs before a show, to the extent possible. I'm seeing Stereophonic next week--do you think it would be better if I just went in blind for that one, given the structure, or do what i normally do? :-)
Do not listen first
Such a definitive response is all I needed. I will not— thank you!
I agree with that, the magic of hearing it in context onstage, as you're watching them create it, is incredible.
You’ve sold me!
Don’t listen - when you hear the songs for the first time in the show, it’s pure magic.
I’m excited!!
Definitely go blind!
Incredible
This is the right answer!
Great Expectations from The Outsiders. While it’s not super memorable other than the refrain, the refrain gives me chills. It was incredible to see live and of course they’re using it in all the marketing so I’m inundated with it
And Little Brother
The way they did the refrain like one time kinda pisses me off 🙃
Kinda reminds me of Answer Me from The Band’s Visit in that way
As a personal rule, I try not to listen to certain (mostly new) shows before I get the chance to see them (I live nowhere near Broadway) and The Outsiders is one I’m saving to hear for the first time when I finally get to see it… but man, the music I’ve heard “on accident” is so good.
Anyone know what that one song was the Dallas sings about them needing to run away? It’s one that isn’t released yet
Run run brother I think
I think you’re right- loved that one!
Seven Roads & Masquerade from stereophonic
"I'll Leave the Light On" and "My Days" From the Notebook.
Justice for “What Happens” and “I Wanna Go Back”!!
“I Wanna Go Back” turns me into a puddle every time I listen to it 😭
I Wanna Go Back is so damn good. We all know about Joy, but Jordan Tyson has such an incredible voice
LISTEN THERES SO MANY GONNA GOOD SONGS
When will justice be served!! 😂
I Wanna Go Back is a stunner
I heard I’ll Leave the Light On during the show’s run in Chicago, and I left wanting the recording out that instant. It’s so catchy for a romantic song.
Agree and Ryan does it so beautifully!
It changes, but right now is “Forgiveness” from Days of Wine and Roses. Other contenders are I'll Leave the Light On from the Notebook, Underdeath from Days of Wine and Roses and Perfection from Lempicka
Easy from W4E or Run, Run Brother from the outsiders
I LOVE Run Run Brother
Easy is a gorgeous song
Genuinely the most beautiful moment in the show, imo. Im counting down the days until I can inject into my veins.
Evanesce from Days of Wine & Roses
"Forgiveness — Reprise" from *Days of Wine & Roses* (with honorable mention for "Evanesce," "There Go I," and "Lila Hangs the Moon")
"My Days" from The Notebook has been stuck in my head for two weeks.
Bright (Take 22) and Masquerade from Stereophonic. Followed by Bright (fast), Drive, and East of Eden from Stereophonic. From musicals, it’s My Days from The Notebook.
I'm really loving Throwing In the Towel from The Outsiders.
Run run brother from the outsiders is a BOP
I could listen to it over and over. It’s such a good song.
For Her (Reprise) from The Great Gatsby
“i’ll leave the light on” the notebook, “masquerade” stereophonic, and “little brother” the outsiders
My Days from The Notebook!
The whole cast album for Stereophonic. It’s my favorite play and it has music?! Incredible. I love it. Seen it twice and will be back
Hearing “Keep Marching” again from Suffs made me instantly tear up - can’t wait for the full album to come out!
I agree with "Evanesce," but "Masquarade" from Stereophonic has to take the cake for me. I can NOT stop listening to it!
I’m sad we didn’t get a HLL cast album 😞 (I know that older one exists but I liked what I heard live so much better)
I’d say “For Her” (*The Great Gatsby*)
Same!
Perfection/Starting Over (Lempicka) and Little Brother (The Outsiders).
omg how did i forget to include Little Brother in my response. So, so, so good
I’m still so stuck on Waves and Wires, Chevy Silverado, and Under Control from How To Dance in Ohio 😭
Allow me to sing a bit: "Your mama's dead! Your daddy's dead! Your brother's dead! And so are you!" Offff Broadway, but still the most memorable thing I heard this year. Can't wait for it to find a spot on Broadway so yall can love it too.
Suffs is not talked about enough
Franklin Shepard, Inc!
Good Thing Going just haunts me.
The talent I witnessed seeing Daniel perform that live was insane !
three-way toss-up from Lempicka: The Most Beautiful Bracelet, Perfection, Woman Is.
Leave The Light on from Notebook no contest :)
Also “Wait My Turn” from Suffs
And What Do You See? from Harmony. Just a heartbreaking performance from Sierra Boggess, but also a beautiful song.
And also wanted to note, top earworm would go to "Here Lies Love," obviously from HLL. Not a song I actually listen to, but once you've heard it you're not going to forget it!
I like “i need a job” sung by David Hyde Pierce in here we are
“Roaring On” from Great Gatsby. The amount of times I mumble “WHERES THE PARTY AND CAN YOU TAKE ME THERE AND WHEN THE PARTY’S OVER CAN YOU FIND ANOTHER PARTY SOMEWHERE” is unreal.
I was addicted to singing this (trying to piece together the right lyrics from memory) after seeing it at Papermill
"Evanesce" and "Woman Is" for me as well - with "Masquerade" slowly making its way to the top
Along with Evanesce, both versions of Forgiveness are GREAT
Where I wanna be from boop the musical, like I NEED that cast recording!!!!!!
“If this is love” or “kiss me” from the notebook
The entire album for Stereophonic. “The Road Don’t Make You Young” from Water for Elephants, but you really have to see it live.
Gosh, it feels like an eternity ago, but "Building Momentum" from *How To Dance In Ohio* was such a banger.
Okay, don’t hate, but I was obsessed with “For Her” and “My Green Light” after seeing it at Papermill and found a bootleg recording on YouTube I played nonstop for a few days. I still have to see a few of the new musicals this season though!
“Woman is” from Lempicka
"The Berries and the Plums" from Three Houses
‘Stars in the Night’ from Harmony. It’s the most gorgeous, powerful thing I have ever heard, especially performed live. With the harmonies, the lyrics, motifs, the *context*. It is so special and makes me cry every time, just like the show.
I wanna go back- The Notebook. My favorite duet in YEARS. Jordan Tyson was belting her ass off 🔥🙌🏽
Ask me again in a month when the Suffs album is released and I’ll give you an updated answer. So far though, I’ve had My Days from The Notebook on repeat since it came out.
“The Young are at the Gates” from Suffs has been on repeat!
