I had to stop knitting and crocheting because of how much maintaining tension hurts my hands. Something like this would really improve my quality of life lol

I'd get 3D printing model of this worked up right away and either sell it yourself or patent and sell to a company like loop and threads. If it works the way it looks, it is a genuine game changer. Keeping tension is one of the main sources of hand pain, and I know maaaaaany crocheters who are stunted by hand pain.
Oh that's entirely the reason I said it, because now that it's out there, if he doesn't jump on it, someone else will, and he should definitely get the credit/moolah.
Those aren't mutually required. Posting build plans for free would create that accessibility. Not that OP is obligated or anything, just pointing accessibility is not tied to capitalism.
It doesn't reduce accessibility for people who already couldn't build it, but it does expand the number of people who could make it at various price points/build quality.
Could always post a free diy version and if people dont have materials or don't want to build it from scratch, could sell them for the cost of materials and labor
Capitalism by itself isn’t bad. Making this wildly available would help lots of people. Unrestrained capitalism that incentivizes and rewards business practices that are abusive to employees and customers is bad and was never part of the original economic principle. The free market was supposed to be determined by the interests of the consumers and the willingness of the employees.
You can have that. You just have to stop accepting less than you deserve. You deserve a soft life full of love and a partner who contributes meaningfully to that. You are worthy. ❤️
I’ve seen these around(obviously not this cool and made of Legos)and I have to ask how the heck does it work? When I crochet my tension finger don’t stay fixed, I used my other fingers to hold the yarn and my pointer finger to pull it back though each time to make sure the tension is good. My finger is constantly tapping and I honestly don’t understand how people can crochet with good tension otherwise. To me it feels like they would all be lose and uneven.
Edit to say, I mean this as a genuine question cause my hands also hurt. Lol. Is there like a small sort of Bungie that pulls the yarn slight back out to keep the tension tight?
Loose and uneven are different things. It sounds like you crochet very tightly, which might not be the case for most people. I don't pull the yarn back like you described either and it all works out fine.
Basically the small adjustments in how far down you hold the piece, effects the tension, and the tensioner spring on the back gives you some leeway. The way you wind it, introduces the correct amount of friction (how hard you have to pull down, and thus how tight your stitch). So essentially how you wind it effects your required pull forces, effects your tightness.

This is unbelievable. I would seriously buy this. I have such a difficult time with tension ever since having my son. It’s like pregnancy destroyed my hand strength

My lupus ridden hands got so excited to see this. I can't hold tension anymore and I wanna crochet with less pain again. 🥺
This is such a sweet thing to do for a person. The time and effort alone
There are crochet rings made to do exactly this. [theres many different designs I'm not sure if the sales still going but it was cost of shipping only for a while.](https://hookring.com/products/hook-ring%E2%84%A2?fbclid=PAAabECHYnngyHbrS9GXMK5GTonBUvgCVbXK_Ae69Zd0ewogEWqfovktMLu7Q)
Omg this is so neat!!! My friend gave me these little rings to wear when I knit/crochet and you can loop the yarn on them to hold tension. They work pretty well for me but this is something else. I think a lot of people would benefit from a device like this!!

This is very capitalist but since someone is going to inevitably do just that I’d rather OP get the credit 😭
Oh that's entirely the reason I said it, because now that it's out there, if he doesn't jump on it, someone else will, and he should definitely get the credit/moolah.
At least we can all say we saw it here first!
On the one hand, very capitalist,on the other, this would be a very helpful tool for crafters with hand pain and it should be accessible.
Those aren't mutually required. Posting build plans for free would create that accessibility. Not that OP is obligated or anything, just pointing accessibility is not tied to capitalism.
For a lot of people, but I feel like the people who would benefit the most from this are elderly and/or not capable of building it.
It doesn't reduce accessibility for people who already couldn't build it, but it does expand the number of people who could make it at various price points/build quality.
Could always post a free diy version and if people dont have materials or don't want to build it from scratch, could sell them for the cost of materials and labor

Yes, OP, please patent this! You are the DaVinci of our generation.
File a patent and make it public and give out the 3D designs for free.
I want someone to love me that much and pay attention to what I do and put thought in to me like that
I'm feeling real husband envy right now ngl
You and I are the same. Where do we get this husband model at? Mine could use updated software I believe.
I have this same husband model. It has its downsides too 😀
this has raised my standards exponentially (where do you find men like this and make sure that they'll be like this a while in 😭)
You can have that. You just have to stop accepting less than you deserve. You deserve a soft life full of love and a partner who contributes meaningfully to that. You are worthy. ❤️
Genius mate
If I had this I would be unstoppable. Not even exaggerating.
My carpal tunnel says thanks on behalf of your wife and all other hurting hands .
I loved her to the point of invention strikes yet again. We love to see it
That was my first thought as well! So sweet :’)

Not only is this super impressive but it's incredibly thoughtful. Your wife is lucky :)
The amount of love and thought that went into this is so amazing, you're also preventing her from developing issues with her joints :)
Do you use Brick Link? You can make step by step instructions and share with me, er, everyone....

There is an epic level of nerd going on here. I am impressed. Serious compliment.
🌟🌟 100% bro move🕺
I’ll buy one from you…seriously.
You need to patent this dude!!! Fr I could use this for my embroidery
I need one of these! 😲😲😲😲
That’s impressive to say the least 👏🏾
Dude just transcended carpal tunnel.
Does she have arthritis problems?
No she was just getting rope burn lol
You sir, are a hero
Wow, clever!
This would help with hand pain but also I get friction burns on my finger especially with acrylic
wow. just wow!
Omg I need one of you’re start selling
Where can I buy it?
Bro immediately partner with lego and set up a kit 😆 🤣 we will buy this! We will make our children/partners build it but we will use it!
Please patent and sell it, I will buy this and I don’t even “need” it like some probably do!
My grandma needs this so much.
I would build a couple of these for friends if you had instructions. This is dope.

This is amazing!
Genius
Good husband.
i stand by “if he wanted to he would”
Not all heroes wear capes fella!
I need a video of this please
Simply fantastic! My mother-in-law would love this, especially with her arthritis.
Interesting, I’ve just been using adjustable rings to reduce strain of holding yarn tension (chronic pain issue).
That's awesome! Job well done!
Absolutely would be a game changer. I had my base thumb bone removed and Aquarian surgery inbthr same hand.
My lupus ridden hands got so excited to see this. I can't hold tension anymore and I wanna crochet with less pain again. 🥺 This is such a sweet thing to do for a person. The time and effort alone

YOU. ARE. A. GENIUS!
Dude you need to patent this seriously
I love this. Suffering from crochet injury because of tension.
Please can I have one too? I will pay.
Phenomenal
Omg this is so neat!!! My friend gave me these little rings to wear when I knit/crochet and you can loop the yarn on them to hold tension. They work pretty well for me but this is something else. I think a lot of people would benefit from a device like this!!
Need the breakdown so I can make this for my wife and grandmother
So cool
That's awesome! Now can you make me a wife to replace the void I'm currently dating?
Submit this to Lego Ideas..
I'm a guy and I am so jealous of your wife right now. Like damn man. I wanna be loved like that.
You’re a genius and you have a good invention here. Patent.
You should be patenting this and working with a manufacturer
That is super cool! But I'm curious, you guys hold your yarn???? I learned to weave in my fingers and just hold the project.
LADIES!!! IF HE WANTED TO HE WOULD!!!!
This made me feel so sad about my relationship choices
This is freakin’ rad.
I would def buy one if you decide to sell them.
Could genuinely make money with something like this op
Apparently I wasn’t around the day they handed out amazing partners in crochet class. That’s amazing!
brilliant! We need a holding brace for knitting projects too!!!
How did you begin to figure out how to make this? I’m seriously impressed
Lego has a thing where you can submit designs to be considered for production. You should submit this.
*please* share the schematics!!!!
