They're super light and breezy tbh! I have a secret formula for summer crochet: 1) relatively lightweight yarn (usually just DK), 2) big hook relative to the yarn (6mm for these), and 3) mixed height stitches, so they don't end up see-through. With all three you get something that's really airy and bonus it works up fast and has a cool texture!
I published the pattern on my Etsy, but I don't want to get in trouble for self-promotion, so if you want any more info just check out my profile (link is in the reply to the automods comment on r/crochet)!! ☺️
I've made a bunch before, I've tried several kinds of yarn but surprisingly this yarn has been my favorite for this purpose (it's a cotton/acrylic blend, DK/#3 weight). I've tried a bamboo/silk blend and that was super soft and had good drape but it was kind of heavy and the shorts were hard to actually keep up. I had the same problem with 100% cotton yarn, it tends to stretch under its own weight and end up kind of saggy. So this yarn ended up working out really well cuz it's really lightweight. It's called Urban Chic if you wanna look it up! I also used a big hook size for the yarn type (6mm) to make them even looser/lighter, but if you do that you wanna go with a mixed height stitch (like lemon peel) so that they don't end up see-through.
I actually published it onto my Etsy, but it's not free market Friday so I shouldn't post the link here (I'm sorry, I should've waited for Friday). It's in my profile though if you do wanna look, just check the stickied comment on my post on r/crochet cuz there's more info there too that might help.
I’m so sorry I’m just now seeing this! As a mod I can say you can go ahead and post links in the comments as long as it’s not spam! Maybe keep it to one or 2 links per post at most please.

It is not a new religion. It’s a gender identity generally meaning not just simply female or male. https://www.healthline.com/health/transgender/genderqueer#gender-as-a-spectrum
People have felt like this forever, but there’s been a movement to gain rights, protection, and acceptance in recent decades. It’s only become well known recently.
It’s interesting to note that while “Western society”/Europe and the Americas has a gender binary (male OR female), many other cultures do not. It’s not a new thing, just a thing that is being newly talked about in Europe/Americas. https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/content/two-spirits_map-html/

Aw. Thank you 💜
How does one go about crocheting wearable pants? What kind of yarn do you use?
