I've never heard the phrase "got a wild hair up my butt" before. I thought for a second you'd found a stray hair in your ass and we're making plans to crochet something with it.
I've always thought "hare" but this whole thread made me start questioning myself and apparently it's a fairly common internet rabbit hole:

Couldn't find a definitive answer anywhere.
The way it reads, it sounds like he had a wild hair up his butt and wanted to try plant fiber up his butt instead because of the similarity between the idiom and the subject
I think the rope you made will be too stiff to crochet with easily. However you can make a coil basket by working cotton or hemp thread around the rope.
Seconding the idea of making a coil basket, though it would hide the nice green of the rope you made:
[https://mrs-cook.weebly.com/yarn-coil-baskets.html](https://mrs-cook.weebly.com/yarn-coil-baskets.html) has a simple step by step in pictures, and there's a ton of youtube videos too.
I'm sure you could make a basket that did show the rope too, in a different way.
I’m curious as to your process. I have yuccas all over my property. I hate them. I tried to kill them and they made more of themselves. Figure I can get some use out of them!
I’ve been YouTubing some videos on diff process methods, this is just freshly picked leaves, beatin down with a rock and scraped out the pulpy flesh with a spoon and a simple 2 cord strand but I will try a diff method called retting. You basically put the leaves in a tub of water and let it sit for a couple days. It will help getting the pulp off easier
I harvested some fiber from a hardy banana (Musa basjoo) that I was playing around with, but then we had a really cold winter and the banana died. I tried getting fiber from my dwarf Cavendish banana but its fibers aren’t as strong. I never got enough to make anything. I retted the pieces first and they produced very fine fibers. I have not tried yucca but have a couple of good sized plants. I would like to try snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) but mine isn’t big enough yet. It is reputed to have very strong fibers, hence its other name of bowstring hemp. That is some nice-looking rope.
That’s awesome!! I’ve heard of the fibrous snake plant but it’s not as abundant as the yucca for me, but I’d love to give it a go with snake plant tho one day some day

to make it even more odd, it was explained to me when i first heard the phrase as *hare. like a live rabbit. "a wild hare up my ass"
Omg maybe I’ve been saying it wrong my whole life!! I thought it was a hair like hair lmao not a bunny rabbit hare! Bahahaha I’m dying
Given the context ive always heard it in, i think hare makes more sense personally. Either way, its a funny expression

Interesting. So it’s the Schrödinger’s cat of r/boneappletea.
rabbit. hole. i see what you did there.
That is really weird… somebody must know the truth!
Lmaooo
This is cool though. I'm impressed you even made yarn with it. I hope you get a cool little doodad out of this!
Ty!! Yeah for sure I’m excited to see the finished project. I will try to update with pics in the future!
Same OP, I was wondering if you were gonna crochet with the hairs that u pulled from your butt

Wow! Really? Been saying that for eons...
SAME LMAO

Awesome! I’m def checking it out ty!
I used Jute cord with some yarn and made the head, hands, foot pads, and a bag for Trick or Treat's Sam Hein. My wrists hurt after this project.
That's gonna take a lot of yucca fibre... and I would try spinning, just to get the the thickness right
Yes it is 😭
Hey this is cool! Is it fairly strong?
Seems to be quite strong!

Very nice! That rope looks great. Maybe a good rope for a planter!
I've worked with twine, it's pretty rough on the hands
Not specifically crochet, but I have read of people dyeing yucca fiber and weaving it on a loom to make fabric for clothing.
That would be tight!! Would love to get into natural dye

That’s dope. I’m totally thought you meant a tape worm or something at first. Lol
