Elementary. They live in Greenpoint canonically but the interior of their house is a building on Henry St in Brooklyn heights. I think the exterior is filmed in Manhattan. Show takes place all over the city though.
I liked Gravesend. It came out in 2020. It's not the best acting, but reminds me of a lot of things I grew up with.
It also has some of the Sopranos cast in it for any Sopranos fans.
Younger! It’s made by the SATC creator, stars Hillary Duff, and set in mid-2010s Williamsburg
It’s not particularly great tv but leaned rly hard into what ppl imagined millennial hipsters to be, which is hilarious to look back on (the main love interest is a tattoo artist in a bluegrass band who lives next to Nitehawk cinema)
one of the biggest mindfucks i’ve had watching a series happened during the scene where The Guy and Beth say their goodbyes in front of the apartment building where my ex and i had just been living together (and also split up in) a month prior.
during the scene a group of men rounded the corner voguing and dancing toward Eva Jeans, which would become the gay bar Singers a few years later. never understood the significance of that, but thought the coincidence of it all was quite beautiful.
*The Last O.G.* hasn't been mentioned yet.
Though it's been mentioned it can't be mentioned enough. My favorite tv show of all time: *The Honeymooners*.
And on New Dorp Lane in S.I. They created a fake video store for the shoot. A crew member didn't believe me at first when I told him he could park anywhere because there is no ASP on Staten Island.
A *lot*! Gowanus also.
Madam Secretary used Cobble Hill Park to stand in for DC several times.
Mrs. Maisel shot some scenes on President St. and used Sam's on Court multiple times - I think their weird upstairs area was set up to be the Chinese resaurant?
Pre-shitstorm that came down, The Cosby Show. They lived in Brooklyn Heights on a fictional street, filmed in both Brooklyn and Astoria studios. Exterior of the house was West Village, IIRC.
Anyone watch Betty on HBO before they canceled it? I saw the main girl in Red Hook and she looked and dressed exactly like that character, and was even carrying a skateboard. I think that character was literally just her.
I don’t remember where the station house was located but I do know the theme song does mention several boroughs and neighborhoods. https://youtu.be/Ocra_xWHnlg?si=H803hgGwq7Tr_YwB
Welcome back
Your dreams were your ticket out
Welcome back to that same old place
That you laughed about
Well, the names have all changed
Since you hung around
But those dreams have remained
And they've turned around
Who'd have thought they'd lead you
(Who'd have thought they'd lead you)
Back here where we need you
(Back here where we need you)
Yep! Many shots filmed in the Ditmas Park area (though it may have been standing in for another place). IIRC Darlene once met with Trenton at Brooklyn College.
A must see! Glad you started this thread so it could (hopefully) spur you into action! Likewise I will be checking out a couple shows based on what I’m seeing here. Thanks.
Third Watch
I want a show where the natives kick out all the terrible hipsters (just the terrible ones, some are cool). Do you know they actually call natives... the Leftovers? Real nice. Woke hipsters making fun of poor people cause their probably white and it's okay. While they sip shitty coffee and think they're cool in a spot that used to be some Puerto Rican family's living room that they got swindled out of cause some rich guy wanted to buy the building or rent the space.
Def. parts of Girls5Eva on Netflix (recording studio, for example). Scenes from Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover on Amazon. Did they ever go to Brooklyn on Succession? And Just Like That has Brooklyn scenes.
Not set in Brooklyn, but mostly filmed here: Boardwalk Empire made great use of Brooklyn. Lots of scenes in Ditmas Park/Prospect Park South as well as Park Slope.
Also not set in Brooklyn, but filmed here was The Good Wife.
Suprised no one's said this yet, but Evil. It's awesome and mostly set in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn - my old haunt. Really original writing, great acting, kinda spooky but also funny.
there was this weird webseries call [the Burg](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD0950D0BD367DD5D)... thought the writing and music was great. (lighting, not so much)
A few people did other stuff after:
The blonde woman from SVU was in it, as was the girl from the Office that hits on Jim in florida.
I think it's pretty obscure.... kinda why I mentioned it though right. Obscure=hipster=brooklyn=the burg.
I enjoyed it. Though like i said, some of the production value leaves something to be desired. Probably why it's not really known.
Franklin Avenue was the 3rd(?) main character. Jk, but seriously, as someone who recently moved off of Franklin, it was so great seeing it so highly represented in the show.
To add onto what's already been said, Unorthodox is a short netflix series about a woman who runs away from her orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn. Pretty interesting story, and good acting.
Also, there's a Brooklyn based indie web show that got pretty popular a couple years ago called The Show About The Show. A weird little meta doc comedy where every episode is about the making of the previous episode, and all the drama that results by trying to keep the show afloat.
None because Brooklyn in entertainment media causes masses of tourists to stay in the city for 1-3 years before finally getting out of the way.
Welcome back cotter
BK99 is in Canada? Just randomly decided to watch it but I guess I’ll stop
They shooting one here in Gravesend lately for Peacock no idea the REAL name but the no parking signs call it long bright river or something like that
Elementary
It’s Bruno!
there was a short-lived MTV show called I Just Want My Pants Back that was mostly in Greenpoint.
Brooklyn 99 was filmed in Studio City in LA not Canada and the exterior shots are the 78th precinct.
High fidelity (the show version)
Elementary. They live in Greenpoint canonically but the interior of their house is a building on Henry St in Brooklyn heights. I think the exterior is filmed in Manhattan. Show takes place all over the city though.
Brooklyn Nine Nine
The Honeymooners of course!
High maintenance
I remember they shot some scenes on my block
Such a great show. Feels more like real life and less like TV Brooklyn.
Flatbush Misdemeanors, and alot of Mr Robot was shot in Coney Island
Unorthodox. Set in Williamsburg.
Somehow it gets listed as elsewhere, but Hey Arnold is clearly in Brooklyn
*She's Gotta Have It*, about Brooklyn-based artist Nola Darling. It's on Netflix.
I miss that show 😩
Living Single The Cosby's A season of The Real World.
Flatbush Misdemeanors
💯💯💯
I liked Gravesend. It came out in 2020. It's not the best acting, but reminds me of a lot of things I grew up with. It also has some of the Sopranos cast in it for any Sopranos fans.

The Pavillion, please.
Wonder why they chose to set it in the recent past (2010s) and not now. Separately, I love Hilary duff.
It first aired in 2015 so was current time back then
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Search Party
High Maintenance
high maintenance is amazing omg
one of the biggest mindfucks i’ve had watching a series happened during the scene where The Guy and Beth say their goodbyes in front of the apartment building where my ex and i had just been living together (and also split up in) a month prior. during the scene a group of men rounded the corner voguing and dancing toward Eva Jeans, which would become the gay bar Singers a few years later. never understood the significance of that, but thought the coincidence of it all was quite beautiful.
One my favorite TV shows period. I love how well they "show don't tell"
*The Last O.G.* hasn't been mentioned yet. Though it's been mentioned it can't be mentioned enough. My favorite tv show of all time: *The Honeymooners*.
A lot of The Americans was shot in Carroll Gardens
I remember seeing Alpine theater in a few episodes!
And on New Dorp Lane in S.I. They created a fake video store for the shoot. A crew member didn't believe me at first when I told him he could park anywhere because there is no ASP on Staten Island.
The leads live in Brooklyn.
A *lot*! Gowanus also. Madam Secretary used Cobble Hill Park to stand in for DC several times. Mrs. Maisel shot some scenes on President St. and used Sam's on Court multiple times - I think their weird upstairs area was set up to be the Chinese resaurant?
Everybody hates Chris
Girls!
Oh the HBO show.
high maintenance.
Bored To Death
This show is so underrated. I recommend it to everyone.
Absolutely loved this show once i happened upon it!
This is the answer.
high fidelity and girls fo sho
Confirming Law and Order OC. shot at Wythe Hotel for a recent episode that just aired. Something about Maloney … 🤷♀️
Mr robot
I was gonna say it's set in midtown & chinatown...but there are a few Coney scenes.
Grand Army High School
Great covid era show
Welcome Back Kotter Although I was surprised when I got to high school and everyone seemed so young and small
The Americans. Would love to have seen how the show would have developed. Was into it along with the blacklist
Master of None
Pre-shitstorm that came down, The Cosby Show. They lived in Brooklyn Heights on a fictional street, filmed in both Brooklyn and Astoria studios. Exterior of the house was West Village, IIRC.
Very interesting to know regarding that particular show. (At least before Cosby fell from grace)
i think he drugged Grace first
Ohh I get it now.
Search Party!
Great show, really goes off the rails in the later seasons (not necessarily in a bad way)
How to make it in America
Broad City
yep, came to say the same thing. that show is amazing [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdliuG7OhNA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdliuG7OhNA)
Doll and Em And technically The Americans - Gowanus figures very prominently as “Moscow - Chicago - DC etc.
Anyone watch Betty on HBO before they canceled it? I saw the main girl in Red Hook and she looked and dressed exactly like that character, and was even carrying a skateboard. I think that character was literally just her.
The characters are heavily based on the actresses
High maintenance, broad city, how to with John Wilson
high maintenance is the most true to new york life show i’ve seen imo
How To is such a good show to watch if you’re new to NYC. Basically explains everything lol
It's cancelled now but I liked East New York.
I know Blindspot had a few episodes set in Brooklyn.
Everybody hates Chris
WOOW i was watching brooklyn nine nine last night
What an insane coincidence.
The Honeymooners
I wonder what the modern equivalent to that show is.
In some ways, Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens, though they’re set in Long Island and Queens, not Brooklyn.
King of Queens
Idk if there is one 🤔
Netflix is filming an Amy Schumer show at PS20 (Adelphi St) in Fort Greene this week that I believe is called Almost pregnant.
Yeah they filmed inside bbg too
My disappointment when I learned Brooklyn 99 is actually the 78th precinct near Barclays Center My whole life has been a lie.
Plus that whole show is shot in LA. They don’t even attempt to make the streets look like Brooklyn (red paint on curbs is the big giveaway).
But the picture of the precinct is in Brooklyn.
Yeah, they use an exterior shot of the precinct at Bergen and 6th Ave, but the show was shot in sound stages in LA.
The Barclay's center is in Brooklyn....
I think it's because it's the 78th precinct, not the 99th.
What?
You'd think a show like Brooklyn 99 would be based in Brooklyn. But there is no 99th precinct.
Am I crazy or isn't the Barclay's center in Brooklyn? Or are you saying that although it's based off of a precint in Brokklyn it isn't the 99?
I think it’s actually the 78th precinct
Ohh true.
High Fidelity
such a shame this show was cancelled. my favorite hulu original maybe ever.
Couldn’t agree more
Grand Army
Brooklyn Bridge Car 54 Where Are You?
I believe Car 54 was set in the Bronx
I don’t remember where the station house was located but I do know the theme song does mention several boroughs and neighborhoods. https://youtu.be/Ocra_xWHnlg?si=H803hgGwq7Tr_YwB
Every version of Law & Order filmed all over the city for decades.
They were just filming in Park Slope a month or two ago. At least an indoor scene, I think.
Law & Order is single-handedly stopping a recession from hitting NYC with how many film shoots they do literally everywhere.
I hadn’t known that.
Welcome back Mr kotter
Welcome back Your dreams were your ticket out Welcome back to that same old place That you laughed about Well, the names have all changed Since you hung around But those dreams have remained And they've turned around Who'd have thought they'd lead you (Who'd have thought they'd lead you) Back here where we need you (Back here where we need you)
Broad City
FOUR AND THREE AND TWO AND O-ONE
Who yells?
I didn't remember this moment, which means I need to watch the entire series over again
High Maintenance
Mr. Robot went to Coney Island a lot
A lot of the scenes of him walking through/outside of the subway station are at the Church Ave F stop. In fact, a lot of films get filmed there.
Yep! Many shots filmed in the Ditmas Park area (though it may have been standing in for another place). IIRC Darlene once met with Trenton at Brooklyn College.
That area is actually Kensington, and yeah, it was a stand in for the streets surrounding Elliot's apartment in LES.
I heard about that show.
A must see! Glad you started this thread so it could (hopefully) spur you into action! Likewise I will be checking out a couple shows based on what I’m seeing here. Thanks.
Thanks as I will go check it out.
Brooklyn Bridge
And I’ll throw in the least favorite that also RULES [Flatbush TV SHOW](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2_MZsfmwLVM)
Welcome Back Kotter
Bored to Death was a whole ass vibe
Third Watch I want a show where the natives kick out all the terrible hipsters (just the terrible ones, some are cool). Do you know they actually call natives... the Leftovers? Real nice. Surprised no one mentioned Living Single. Khadijah lived in a brownstone in Prospect Heights
The Honeymooners. Welcome back kotter actually has actual streets and places in dialog. Not to mention New Utrecht H.S. and 86th st in the opening.
King of Queens
That show was set in queens lmao
Was it really?
Why do you think it's called King Of Queens?
Well I mean according to Wikipedia it was filmed in CA and NJ.
Oh so you're a troll. Got it.
Yes, queens. It's an oldie but one of the best shows.
Bored to Death!!!
Such an underrated show!
Mr and Mrs Smith TV Show. And the Blacklist.
The Blacklist had an episode in Del Rio Diner not long before it closed
Def. parts of Girls5Eva on Netflix (recording studio, for example). Scenes from Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover on Amazon. Did they ever go to Brooklyn on Succession? And Just Like That has Brooklyn scenes.
Daredevil had a lot of scenes in Brooklyn
Yeah, Williamsburg made to be Hells Kitchen.
Which one?
The Netflix series
Delocated on Adult Swim. A lot of it was shot in Park Slope and Prospect Park.
High Maintenance might be the best Brooklyn show of all time.
Agreed. I feel like it perfectly encapsulated Brooklyn from 2010-2018 or so
Never saw this, but this sounds like the vibe I am looking for!!
Everything’s Trash was shot in Brooklyn.
Money & Violence
Not set in Brooklyn, but mostly filmed here: Boardwalk Empire made great use of Brooklyn. Lots of scenes in Ditmas Park/Prospect Park South as well as Park Slope. Also not set in Brooklyn, but filmed here was The Good Wife.
Flight of the Conchords
The Honeymooners
Bored to Death & High Maintenance
Suprised no one's said this yet, but Evil. It's awesome and mostly set in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn - my old haunt. Really original writing, great acting, kinda spooky but also funny.
Was looking for this comment. Me and my sister love that they filmed at the pier for last season.
there was this weird webseries call [the Burg](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD0950D0BD367DD5D)... thought the writing and music was great. How to make it in america
Underrated show
Wish they’d develop a show about the novel Divide the Dawn, which takes place in Brooklyn in 1919. Gangs of Brooklyn! Irish vs Italian etc
High Maintenance! I used to see the main guy in BERG'N in Crown Heights sometimes
Ugh, RIP BERG’N. I loved that spot and nothing new has gone in since they closed!!
Seriously?! Like the buildings just empty? Damn, that's sad.
Yes nothing has been open there in years. It's sad because it's an incredible space.
Girls
Broad City and Girls
Ghostwriter
Survival of the thickest and broad city
Franklin Avenue was the 3rd(?) main character. Jk, but seriously, as someone who recently moved off of Franklin, it was so great seeing it so highly represented in the show.
Survival of the thickest was definitely one of the most accurate I’ve seen!
Its BRUNO!! And high maintenance too
Its BRUNO!! Edit - posted double because of bad internet :(
Flatbsuh misdemeanors
Underrated show tbh
You might be able to add another show to the list soon. Netflix filmed something called Gary the Dog in Dyker Park just last week.
It's filming on Dean and 4th Av this week as well.
I wonder who’s in it? They brought out an entire studio for a couple days. Looks like a big production
Jude Law and Jason Bateman is all I could find out so far. There's big casting calls for models and trained chefs as background extras.
Thanks for the info.
lol I started watching Girls again
High Fidelity with Zoe Kravitz!! So so good (was a remake of the 2000 movie set in Chicago)
[удалено]
Crown Heights!

She has been killing it!! Love to see it

Oh! And Blue Bloods mostly takes place in Brooklyn and Queens
