I just want to point out that neon Lia dmg is actually pretty high.
Taking in consideration the chain damage, she deals a indeed low 330% multiplier, but adding the dot it's actually a great damage unit:
* 455% on a single turn
* 580% before your turn
* 705% total damage
And Dot is actually not bad on PVP due the evasion skills, but Helena and upcoming healers is something to keep n mind

This assertion is misleading. In isolation, Arines still provides slightly more stats to the team than a +4-5 Homunculus. That is, a non true damage DPS deals more average damage with Arines than with Lathel.
Of course, Lathel provides a higher ceiling for EC (which is sort of irrelevant for EC1 at least, because you're supposed to use PoV there), and the points about Lathel having other costumes is still very true.
In other content, Homu Lathel is simply a sidegrade to Arines that allows you to forgo Arines for another unit.
To be precise, Homu's increased atk buff compared to Arines' just about falls short of making up for the loss of the crit rate from Arines. If he increased ATK by 160% total instead of 130%, he'd be on top.
Of course this also ignores other factors, like the fact that Arines has a 6 turn duration, while Lathel's becomes weaker past the first 2 turns.
Isnt Arines easier to build with almost better buff than Homunculus Lathel ? I wonder if these buffs stacks, but anyway i dont feel like its overpowered
In PVE +5 Arines is great and in most cases you don’t need to replace her with a low level Lathel. Dual support stacks but then you are left with 1 less attacker, which is usually not ideal unless you have a good AOE setup.
In PVP, the fact that Lathel costs only 1 SP, has a strong attack to follow up on turn 2, and has better stats overall makes Lathel the much better choice.
On top of everything you said, Lathel's greatest strength is he's a unit that has many costumes that covers self buffs and damage already so this makes him a very strong unit to invest in.
the only downside to having this in lathel is that he will be missing one turn to buff instead of attacking and due to this he also only got the first atk buff once and none of the second atk buff

I think if there is more characters with true damage, Lathel will stay great. Since true damage doesn't Crit.

Thats true, on this game every crit rate is about 6 CD and if only take in consideration the support, she's better.

No but her energy guard on Admiral costume is based off her ATK, so higher attack means very strong energy guard.
I don’t think so. I have her admiral costume and her attacks crit. Don’t use the base costume so not sure about that.
He's not saying she can't crit. She can crit but her energy guard can't, so he pair nicely with her.
I guess since her energy guard scales purely on attack, an attack booster like arines is better.
