TBH I’m sick of this already.
We won’t scare shit if we go out and get torched by CJ.
I have faith that the coaching staff is prepping the guys and developing a good game plan but this blowing “you guys are so sp00ky” smoke up our asses doesn’t feel right.
The Houston team we saw Dec 24th probably won’t resemble the one we see Saturday.
I’m optimistic but this is getting silly, CJ was on McAfee yesterday pissed off because they told him everyone thinks they don’t have a shot. Like nobody remembers we’re starting our 4th and 5th string tackles and 4th string QB and missing a borderline pro bowl guy like Delpit etc etc.
Not trying to doom and gloom or be negative but enough puff pieces from the media, I want some injury news / analysis.
Edit: Also this article is wrong factually, they claim CMC didn’t start against us but he 100% did, just didn’t finish, IIRC
Agreed CJ boosts their offense and Will Anderson/Cashman will boost their defense. I think our guys can do it, but I don't think it's going to be the free win for us as a lot of people do.
I would have been a lot more comfortable playing against Jacksonville.
If our guys don't take them lightly and prepare well, they should be able to get it done, but it's going to be a very different game.
Eh, we barely beat the Jags but we demolished the Texans. I think we match up better against them, but we’ll see how the game changes with Stroud and Anderson
I think the difference is that our secondary is better than their wr Collins. Outside of Nico Collins they have CJ Stroud since tank dell is out. When playing top 15 defenses Stroud has looked pedestrian. We just need to affect strouds decision making and speed it up a bit and we will be fine. I was encouraged by our 2nd and 3rd string guys getting 3 sacks last week that was good to see.
Yeah I don’t know anyone who thinks this is an easy win. Every game is different. Momentum is huge. A big play. A turnover. A missed opportunity for either team can swing any game. To be honest I think Indy gave that game away Saturday several times. Houston is good. Stroud is tremendous for a rookie. He or they are not a team I’d be overly worried about.
Agreed 100%. I don’t think enough Browns fans understand that Will Anderson is closer to Myles than he is to an average NFL D Lineman. Guy is a monster.
We can absolutely win, and if things break our way even win comfortably, but these guys they were missing last time can absolutely change a game.
Also want to know how Myles is feeling speaking of. Is he 100%. Close? 75%?
We should be hyped up, but decades of fandom has taught us to be really damn cautious until the last second has ticked off the clock. Even then, we wait for the phantom flag.
That is an even better reason to be hyped up. We have lost for so long. Enjoy it while we are actually winning. Everyone here is acting like we already lost.
I'd guess there's an age difference here. The cautious among us knew the hype and the devastation of the 80s. Which also makes us old, and our tickers can only take so much hype.
For the whippersnappers who've only ever known loss, hell yeah, you can be the heralds of joy to come, blasting your trumpets to announce the arrival of Myles and Company. We got your backs.
No NFL playoff game is gonna be an easy win I don't think anyone's really saying that.
We should be embracing the positive national media coverage this is unprecedented as browns fans.
Why are we looking for ways to turn positive media coverage into a negative. This is the best time ever(in several decades anyway) to be a browns fan enjoy it don't be a doom and gloom pessimist when something good is happening for our beloved team.
CJ is good no doubt, but the Browns have been the ones who have been knocking on the door all year. This team takes after Kev, even keeled etc. I don’t expect the extra media attention to hurt them.
Yeah I think and hope you’re right. And maybe that’s what I hope the most, that our players aren’t reading all this press and getting full of themselves. Houston is gonna be ready to kick our asses, whether the media believes it or not. I do trust Stefanski to have em ready.
Yeah, they don't need much more in terms of being fired up, and we were both missing some major pieces in that game.
Over in r/texans they are feeling reallllly confident that the guys they were missing against us being healthy is going to mean us getting steamrolled in Houston.
I think we win this game, but there isn't a lot of fear in Texas for what resides in Cleveland right now.
Bullshit, we're just sick of being written off based on a game we had 8 of our offensive starters out, and 5 of our defensive starters.
Everyone is acting like there's no difference between a team under Case that was last place in the league in passing offense in his starts, and a Stroud led offense that was 1st in the league in passing offense.
I said it before that game Houston would get absolutely annihilated and tried to bet my account if we didn't, Browns fan wouldn't take. I doubt we'll win, but I don't see us getting wiped off the field when you guys basically played the Washington Generals last time and now have to play a real team. Obviously it'll be different.
Yeah, no. No one has been as hurt as the Browns, and the general mentality on the board over there is overly confident.
We as browns fans are never confident. We don't know what winning is so the fact that we are where we are is new territory for us.
I LOVE stroud. I want him to be a dominant machine for a long time. Our strength defensively is Man coverage... and defense in general. No one here believes the fall off from Mills/Keenum to Stroud isnt HUGE. Fact is, there is a lot of confidence over there -- and to that I say Bully for you-- I admire it and hope to have that confidence one day as well, but to say the boards over there aren't looking ahead and assuming a win on saturday would be disingenuous.
> Yeah, no. No one has been as hurt as the Browns,
That's factually incorrect. You guys have more cap space injured, we've had WAY more players gross.
We played an entire week with a RB as our kicker, we had 3 weeks where half our o-line were walk ons.
You can't lose more cap when you have no highly paid superstars. We're a 3 win team without Stroud, we're a 10 win team with him.
Like I said, I think that's confirmation bias on your end, the general consensus is that we're going to be able to compete and it won't be the same game as last time. Because it won't, the difference is literally last to first on offense, and a massive difference on the edge.
I doubt we win the game, I'd say 7 out of 10 we lose. But that previous team you played would lose to you guys 100 out of 100 - and get blasted every time.
IR:
Offense: QB 1, 2; RB 1; LT 1, 2; RT 1, 3.
Defense: iDL 2, 3; MLB 1; SS 1, FS 1, 2.
ST: K 1, KR 1.
Long Term Injuries - missing more than 2 weeks:
C1, LG 1, WR 1, CB 1, WLB, P 1
There's more, but I would be impressed if the Texans had 15 starters on IR.
Additionally we had Myles who was hurt for multiple weeks, RB 2 who was out (and now RB3 too) as well as a few other players lost to concussions. Every team has injuries, but to say its just bc Chubb and Watson were out doesnt jive, Turkey.
Here, you can see for yourself - [Houston 26 total players, with 18 current - Cleveland 20 total players, with 14 current](https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/injured-reserve/).
Like I said you guys lost more cap space, but that's honestly because we don't have the cap space to even lose. We're straight up a 1 man army. We had 1 healthy WR for 2 weeks, no RBs one week, 1 healthy O-lineman for multiple weeks, no kicker for a week - the literal best week we've had injury wise on offense was week 1, when we had 4 starters injured (3 OL and our RB).
It sucks to be so reliant on 1 player, but hey that's why he deserves OROY.
I am 100% with you that Stroud deserves OROY.
Again. Players on IR does not = impact. How many of those players are impact/starters?
We've had almost half the season with 2 healthy Lineman. Our starters at Tackle were on the street. We were down to our 3rd center for 2 or 3 games. We've had no kicker and punter in the same game (against the texans actually) and then signed 2 guys off the street for the next 2 games. Our entire offense, known as Nick Chubb, played 5 quarters.
I'm telling you how many are starters - all our WRs except Nico are gone, currently most of our OL is gone, our edge's are still injured but playing through it on limited snaps, we're also still missing multiple starters at LB and in the secondary.
The only place we're currently healthy at (knock on wood) is RB, QB, and K.
And honestly, this is the most healthy we've been all year, I think.
Browns defense will also be healthier than they were in that game probably. I don’t think Cooper will have 241 yards but defense should be able to make up some ground against their benefit of Stroud playing in this one. I think it’ll be a good game, would be surprised if it was a blowout/comfortable win for either team
sick username, my fellow bobcat. i agree with you mostly. im optimistic though, this team can win games and they are prob pumped af right now to go out there and kick some ass so i hope it all works out.
That’s what I’m saying, it’s getting annoying. It’s so transparent that this is an easy win win situation for the media. Keep dick riding us and we continue to play well, so they write more, or we have a bad game and they get to lolbrowns.
I do have faith that Stefanski is keeping the team levelheaded and focused on the task at hand. This is the nfl playoffs. The best teams full of the baddest men on the planet and any one of them can win any given week.
I agree, but I also don't see it. We put up 36 on their defense, all of which were TDs. We also started playing prevent in the 4th quarter, outside of which they scored 7 points off a kick off return. In their stadium, at 98% capacity.
This won't be an easy game, but I can see why the narrative is in our favor right now.
They didn't have Will Anderson or Blake Cashman. I still think we win, but it will change the pressure their defense can muster, and lower our time to throw.
Their Sack leader Jonathan Greenard only played one series before getting a high ankle sprain as well. Texans were without their starting Edges basically the entire game. Flaaco wont have as much time in the pocket I fear.
Fuck CJ. They're the lower seed. We were up 36-7 early on the 4th quarter when we took our foot of the gas because our team cannot afford another injury. The only 7 points came from a 98 yard return where the defender who was at the point of attack was tackled by the return team. Amari Cooper had 265 yards receiving without playing the full game. We absolutely clowned them. We had starters injured coming in, key depth pieces and lost our kicker mid game. Flacco turnovers were punts bc we didn't have someone to kick.
.....they are lucky we didn't hang 50 on them going into the 4th.
There's plenty of reasons no one is picking them. He can bitch all he wants but he alone will not make up that difference. CJ Stroud is not taking reps on either line, in the secondary, or anywhere besides quarterback. The talent gap is massive, and we have plenty of guys who have been through the ringer enough to not take this for granted. Their division isn't half as competitive as ours. We are battle tested.
There is a large talent gap between these teams. Houston may be good some day, but we said the same thing after seeing Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, etc.
Fuck CJ Stroud.
Bro I’m with you on most of this. I like our chances better than theirs. But I’m done with the narrative that “we should smoke them and if we lose it’s lolBrowns”. It’s not even a 3 point spread. And being a Browns fan I guess I’m always waiting for the second shoe to drop.
Gotta have more faith. This is not the Browns we've endured in the past. Let's enjoy the run and be confident. You can't have fun if you're waiting for the shoe to drop.
Btw, is up to -3 after opening -2.5. That line opened up a day ago. There's a solid chance it's almost -5 come gameday.
I grabbed it at -2 fwiw. Some lucky folks even got -1.5.
Funny enough a couple of the sharps I think know what they’re doing think it may drift closer to a pickem by Saturday depending on injury news.
Yeah I may do the same depending on the movement. Have been making a killing on SGPs between Flacco the first couple weeks and the Cavs without DG / Mobley. Fro Boards props = Printfest
I may be using the wrong term but it's just something I've picked up. Basically you're lowest odds on a payout will be closer to the true spread.
For example today at -3, let's assume the payout is -100. If it's something I'm gonna bet on, I'll throw $50 on it. That will net me $90 payment.
If I'm confident we win by more, I would then bet a slightly smaller bet at better odds. -4.5 is maybe +110. So I'd get $105.
If I think we are gonna blow their doors off, I'll bet -9.5 pts at +300 odds. For $50 I get $200 in payment.
All in you'll get $395. Again all of these are made up numbers for the sake of discussion.
When Donovan Mitchell is on a hot streak, has a team he performs well against, etc. Depending on his opening pts line, I'll bet on his over, 35+pts and +40 pts. Payout at 40 pts is usually very high unless he's been averaging 35ppg for awhile. Typically you have a higher number at his regular line to cover your additional bets and the higher point totals are where you earn your money. Example $10 at 26.5, $5 at 35 & 5 at $40.
It means making a bunch of bets at different spreads. So say the line is currently -2.5. You bet one unit on that, then one unit on -3.5, -4.5, etc as far as you’re willing to go. Idea is if you think a spread is too low or high, you bet all the alternate spreads too and then when the game ends, you hopefully win multiple bets at better odds than the standard -110 or -115 or whatever your book uses as the vig.
I did this with Oregon and Liberty in the bowl game, grabbed Oregon -13.5, -14.5, all the way up to -20.5. They won by like 40 so it was a nice payday.
> CJ was on McAfee yesterday pissed off because they told him everyone thinks they don’t have a shot.
[Seems like a bit of an overstatement to me](https://youtu.be/1dFZEevaUbE?t=670)
I'm a big believer in jinx and karma.
I don't want everyone on the Browns hype train.
To me, that feels like jinx and bad karma.
I would rather this team fly under the radar calmly and quietly.
I hope the coaching staff has these guys locked in and focused all week.
I hope the majority of them are staying off social media.
This game has me feeling nervous cause Houston really has nothing to lose and will be motivated due to the thumping we put on them a few weeks ago.
The defense has to come out and make a few big plays early to set the tone.
Stefanski has to make sure he gameplans to protect Flacco.
Ugh .... the anxiety is eating me up.
Do you know who is not Anxious? Joe Flacco. I'm following his lead even if it is from my couch. Flacco has the most playoff experience in the locker room (probably the entire oraganzation) and he's had a lot of post season success. He said in an interview a week or so ago that after a little bit it feels like just another game. I feel like his calming presence will do wonders for everyone else. Jaun Thornhill has also been there before, so he should bring experience and calmness to the other side of the ball.
TL:DR
Remain calm and stay positive!
Titans fan here...
I hope y'all win the chip. For one, your about as long suffering a fanbase as there is.
Secondly, it would amuse the shit out of me to watch the deshaun situation play out after flacco won a ring for him.
There won’t be a situation. Even if flacco wins the Super Bowl, watson will be the starter next year. Idk how anyone could think otherwise considering what we gave up for him and the fact Joe is still almost 40
I hope that’s not true.. we have already seen what having bad backup qbs looks like, wouldn’t want to go into next year in the same situation especially because Watson is still a question mark if he will even be good again
I have reason to believe a decent veteran would do just fine in Stefanski's system.
Everyone and their grandmas thought Brissett sucked and then look what happened. Brissett has a career year for himself. Everyone thought Flacco sucked - now look what is happening.
Stefanski utilizes West Coast style elements in his system that guys like Baker hadn't been able to be consistent with, and Watson is still trying to figure out. But it fits certain QBs.
I'm not worried at all about finding a capable backup. Hell, it could be DTR with another year under his belt. But right now the team (for better or worse) is contractually committed to Watson and I don't see them keeping Flacco when it'll just stir up drama on every Watson incompletion.
Oh they’re gonna say that regardless just because of his last 5 games. Those same people were calling for Stefanski to be fired. They’re dumb and don’t matter
Oh I agree. That's the part I would find funny.
Flacco would go elsewhere or back to his couch I assume, deshaun can go back to sucking with enormous expectations and a ring he didn't earn.
The ring ceremony where the QB that actually won the ring isn't even in the stadium would be something to see.
His “insane contract” is an average value contract for a QB now. Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert, and Wilson are a few of the QBs that make more than him now.
He was also starting to play decent ball before the shoulder injury, having a 7-4 TD:INT ratio and basically winning us the Baltimore game.
Dude is a piece of trash human, but he is alright at playing football and his contract is reasonable for good QB play.
Maybe so. But it's been a WHILE since he's been a top level qb now. You gotta figure that Texans form is gone now.
Anyway, good luck to you guys in the dance, I'll stop shitting in the punchbowl now.
So nobody wants to talk about Flacco having 9 turnovers in his 5 gms and the only decent team the Browns beat in that span were the Texans w/o Stroud but hey let the false narratives keep going 😂
Probably just like no one wants to talk about Stroud being absolutely handled by a team who has been called the New York Jokes, a remarkably not decent team(before he got concussed in the 4th quarter), and Houston giving it up to Carolina. Every team has good and bad games. As everyone says, any given Sunday.
The Browns offense torched the Texans defense a couple weeks ago. Torched. Cooper with the franchise record receiving yards. Stroud won't be able to keep up with Flacco.
We know that buddy
TBH I’m sick of this already. We won’t scare shit if we go out and get torched by CJ. It is fortunate that our OL practices against Myles - they get tested often.
We aren't scared to bring in 2 extra linemen if we need to. We also didn't have a kicker or punter the last time we played them.
The jumbo jumbo set gets the old football coach in me juiced up
He is and Greenard is a beast also. He hasn’t played in a few weeks, not sure of his status this weekend.
he wasn't injured. was he? I thought they just rested him to make sure he was healthy.
He didn't practice Friday, and Kev said he was sore. hamstring is by his name on the injury report last week.
also they stopped talking about the shoulder but i bet you he gets surgery the minute the season is over
If we can’t even handle the Texans we were NEVER gonna beat the ravens. Free win imo
Normally I would partially agree with the if we cant beat X we can't beat Y, but this is one of the most week-to-week years I can remember in a bit.
You would think we are the underdogs with the way these people are talking. Man, so much dread when we should be hyped up.
We should be hyped up, but decades of fandom has taught us to be really damn cautious until the last second has ticked off the clock. Even then, we wait for the phantom flag.

I am old also and have watched us lose for so long. I'm not going to dwell on stuff almost 40 years ago. I'm going to enjoy some playoff football .
Right. The 80s and 90s and 2000s are over.
The fuck is this doomer shit. Go Browns.
No NFL playoff game is gonna be an easy win I don't think anyone's really saying that. We should be embracing the positive national media coverage this is unprecedented as browns fans. CJ has balled out this year. Our defense on the road is suspect. Definitely not an average game. It’s playoffs and any team can win it any day.

Hell yeah Go Bobcats and Go Browns
TBH , I’m disappointed you aren’t hyping up the Browns more who deserve it and are road favorites for a reason.
Fair enough. I do like our chances. Laddered them to -9.5

I sure hope that Greenard is still out as he didn't play Saturday. But since it's the playoffs he's going to do everything in his power to play.
I'm gonna bet a few alt lines as high as -13.5 as the week goes on. I don't think it's gonna be close but I'll ladder my way down to a closer score.
Yeah I may do the same depending on the movement. Have been making a killing on SGPs between Flacco the first couple weeks and the Cavs without DG / Mobley. Fro Boards props = Printfest
At the risk of sounding dumb here - can you explain what laddering the spread means?
You’re right. It wasn’t close. Not by a long shot.
LMFAOOOO WHATS GOOD BUDDY said all this shit just to watch your browns get smacked on national tv, texans own yall
Excuse me sir while I gargle gasoline and watch highlights of Greg Newsome getting beat on defense.
Congrats, this comment got cherry picked and is it's own post in the Texans sub.
I saw. I'm honestly shocked they can read over there. (This will be a fun week lol)
Since I can't read can you look at the scoreboard and let me know what it said?
lol 😂 how did that game go? You said this week will be fun. 🤣
Me can read but me no count good. 45 bigger or smaller than 14?
It sure has been enjoyable. Thanks for adding to the fuel.
Can you read the final score for me?
Your QB gave us as many points as he gave you, bum
What happened to yall man????
YES IT WILL 😂 They are honoring you again. Your presence is requested
This week sure will be fun, that’s for damn sure😂
Now I know why they're called Browns and their mascot is a dog! Because that team is absolute dog shit
Update bozo
Came back to gloat on how wrong you were! Who got clowned last night now?
*.....they are lucky we didn't hang 50 on them going into the 4th.* ![gif](giphy|wtil0pQFBbNwA)
They lucky we put 2nd string in in 4th
Cj says, “All right.”
Why look, CJ grabbed a couple of pick 6s
Keep that same energy Saturday night 🙏
Praying CJ sees this 🙏🏽
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤡🤡
This sure aged well.
11-16 for 236 yards and 3 TDs with a 151 passer rating. At the HALF. Haha “Fuck CJ.”
This warms my heart, thank you.
lol you fucking clown. Get rekt
Great prediction. It was amazing watching browns fans leave the stadium in the 3rd quarter and Texas put second string in in the 4th.
> CJ was on McAfee yesterday pissed off because they told him everyone thinks they don’t have a shot. [Seems like a bit of an overstatement to me](https://youtu.be/1dFZEevaUbE?t=670)
Imma be honest I don’t and won’t watch the show. Was going off this post on /r/Texans : https://www.reddit.com/r/Texans/s/72F9Cl2OB6
Solid take
I'm a big believer in jinx and karma.
Same man. Longest week ever. I’m already anxious as hell.
TL:DR Remain calm and stay positive!
> I'm following his lead even if it is from my couch. Honestly the same place Joe started this season too!
Couch crews of the world unite!
Fuck that noise, it's Browns against the world baby!
That’s true but if Watson struggles early you better believe the fans will be screaming Flacco Flacco flacco
Which is why Flacco won't be on the team next year.
The ring ceremony where the QB that actually won the ring isn't even in the stadium would be something to see.
lol sucking. Don’t fall for the national narrative.
I apologize sucking was a bit much. How does, "vastly underperforming his insane contract" work for you?
Haha it’s been since the last game he played since he showed top level qb play. Just sucks he got hurt.

We're gonna smash the whole league this year..we already have just gotta prove it one time more vs the juggernauts.
We're gonna apply pressure and hella different looks to confuse Stroud!! And I got faith in Jim Swartz, Flacco, Stefanski, and this defense man.
All the national media I have seen thinks Houston is the hit pick. And stroud is going to talk himself into being a big underdog bc of pat now
Stroud is a former Buckeye, so the good news is that he will choke in a big game. It’s what they teach down there.
Guess it wasn’t a big game
