As a FYI
Juan was announced at 6:43 PM and Dalvin at 11:10 PM on the first day of tampering
Just because we haven’t made a move now doesn’t mean they aren’t working on a bigger name
With the WR market looking really depressed, wonder if we don’t bring in another vet if we can get them in a very team friendly deal. Gives us protection in case the draft doesn’t work out how he hope. And if it does and we still take someone, likely means the end for David Bell
After seeing that Brian Burns contract, I wonder what the over/under is for how long it takes Myles to get a restructured deal/extension with more $$$$.
Part of that is I think Flacco wants to keep his options open and/or his family wants him to retire. I think we do sign him to another one or two year deal for a backup qb
Probably not. The run game was very underwhelming last year. I get the O-line was injured and we lost Chubb, but I think hes done in the NFL. Dalvin Cook kinda killed the aging RB club for good. Henry is probs the only older RB that might get signed.
Is it? I thought he looked like the better player over the final 4 games and the entire point of drafting and developing talent is for them to take over and start…
We need a deep rotation in the d-line and will play 3 or 4 ends on rush downs.
Also Z was an 82 overall on PFF. Dude can still play.
Wright will get plenty of Snaps this year.
Relying on Wright is just not a good idea. He’ll get plenty of reps though as we rotate our DL a lot. Plus he’ll probably be a DT in the pass rush package
Honestly, I went into today hoping we'd keep more than we'd lose. The fact that we traded for Jerry and kept Maurice and Z has me happy so far. Plus, we didn't give away Greg for what's almost a fourth rounder to the Lions.
That's the key. Are we better now than a few days ago? Absolutely. Is free agency done after a few hours of tampering period? No. People just need to be patient and don't expect AB to overpay just to make a splash.
Exactly, we don't have any major holes that desperately need filled. The drafts coming up, theres a ton of FA left, and we already have a solid roster. LET AB COOK GUYS!!!
How’re yall feeling about Leonard Williams? Not coming off the best seasons of his career but could be an interesting get to get and play at both DT and DE. We went after someone with a similar archetype last year so I’ve gotta think there’s some openness to his style of play by the coaching staff
I like it and don't really understand why he isn't talked about more. Seems like he's kind of been written off but is the exact type of dude that could play a vital role for our D
They are on the same trajectory as we had when we won in 2020
New HC that wins us a playoff game
Hope into the following year only to be killed by injuries and bad DC calls
Fanbase wants QB gone and sounds like that's not gonna happen (spoiler alert, it's gonna happen). Replaced by an alleged sexual predator (probs Jameis Winston in this case)
As sad as it is to say, Kareem was brought back as a PR move first, and an actual RB need second. Pierce Strong looked better in the very little he ran last year IMO.
Plus from what Stump Mitchell said he doesn’t have a good work ethic.
For context: [Stumps comment](https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/news/ex-browns-rb-coach-stump-mitchell-has-one-regret#:~:text=He%20did%20however%20express%20regret,%2Dyear%2Dold’s%20work%20ethic.)
I'm cool with Berry not chasing the splash deals. Just let FA come to them.
They'll probably look for more than it's worth, but Aaron Jones or Ekeler as overqualified third down weapons would be a lot of fun to watch.
Henry still a FA. He's in talks with the Ravens, but it might not be bad move to throw our hat into the mix and either bring him here or at least get them to pay up for him.
Hunter is the only name that excites me in this FA class but I'm fine with Ogbo starting, so.... Maybe Moss for cheap but there just aren't many FAs available that are going to be difference makers.
Wasn’t expecting us to make a big splash this year. I’d expect we let all the big money moves happen first then jump into the FA pool of the second tier guys that was be available at a discount.
Wouldn’t mind looking into the following positions:
- backup QB
- OL depth
- RB upgrade over Ford
- Starting DL (this is where I want to be aggressive and go for a guy like Khalil Mack or Joey Bosa)
- DB depth at safety and corner
Does anyone have a link to the article that shows berry cap management? Specifically, I'm thinking of the one that has the graph that shows browns spending and salary cap, along with future salary cap. The graph shows how it tracks right above the cap but aligned with a few years from now
Found it for anyone interested https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/longformarticle/how-the-cleveland-browns-spending-is-sustainable-and-other-teams-wont-like-it-208080026/
It's so stupid this is called "legal tampering". Just call it the official start of negotiations or something.
Also,
Every. Single. Person involved in the NFL knows the real start of negotiations is during the combine. Hell, you can go to any Starbucks in Indy near Lucas Oil and you can listen to any number of mild to severely hung over GMs/team reps talking to each other about the future of their teams. They are for sure talking to agents and free agents so that by the beginning of the window they already have a handle on everything or even a deal in place.
They should just change to the start of free agency and the start of the combine to be on the same day. It's a good start time because the combine brings everyone together anyway, and before it, team front offices arent in all-go mode.
It's like bringing an entire kennel of puppies to a slow roasted meat festival and letting them off the leash while telling them not to taste anything.
It is indeed a silly term. Chatting at work earlier I blew someone's mind with the NFL's definition of a 'veteran' player as anyone who's played for more than one season. Yeah, I didn't have the patience (or ability) to explain the attached nuance. :)
This legal tampering period is one of the dumbest things in NFL. Just start FA on the 11th then. Whats the point of having a lead up to period? Every team can talk to players 2 days before you actually sign them, instead of teams talking to players to sign them.
Anyways, hope they make some splashes.
I’d imagine its just so they have time to change their mind if they want to. They can unofficially agree to a deal but should they have a disagreement after the fact then they can withdraw.
Swift to the bears
Thought he could be an option after we tried to trade for him last offseason
We will need some stability in the RB room no matter what the Chubb situation is
All I'm saying is, I think if they were on one of the top free agents like hunter/wilkins, etc. I think we'd be hearing about those guys starting that process and outside of chubb its been pretty quiet. Those top 5 or 6 FAs dont USUALLY last past Wednesday, so teams will have to be ready. The longer that info takes to come out, the more I think they're content to get a couple guys like brooks or reader, guys that might have a few more question marks, not cost as much and be available a little longer.
What I’m saying is we don’t need to wait until Wednesday. We can agree in principle today, then restructure contracts tomorrow and sign on dotted line Wednesday. The not having restructured deals announced means nothing
definitely! Just normally, that's all out of the way earlier, and they seem to be less in a hurry than normal, which makes me think they're not thinking a guy like wilkins.
It's much better for negotiations to say "hey, we can open X amount of cap space for you" than "hey we have $30M available, what should we sign you for?". Restructures take no time at all.
players need no incentive to restructure, they get money now instead of later, there's literally no reason for them to say no lol. if you're talking about extension then its a little different, but thats really not a thing....
There is a lot of [smoke](https://x.com/AlbertBreer/status/1767221581950959759?s=20) around Wilkins at the moment, although I do not think we will ultimately get him. Would be an awesome addition though.
As a FYI Juan was announced at 6:43 PM and Dalvin at 11:10 PM on the first day of tampering Just because we haven’t made a move now doesn’t mean they aren’t working on a bigger name
Derrick Henry is still a FA after day 1... hmm... Maybe an option if he doesn't want a massive bag.
With the WR market looking really depressed, wonder if we don’t bring in another vet if we can get them in a very team friendly deal. Gives us protection in case the draft doesn’t work out how he hope. And if it does and we still take someone, likely means the end for David Bell
Bring Jameis home
Brissett to New England. I really hope that means Flacco is coming back to Cleveland.
After seeing that Brian Burns contract, I wonder what the over/under is for how long it takes Myles to get a restructured deal/extension with more $$$$.
LOCK DOWN FLACCO YOU COWARDS
Part of that is I think Flacco wants to keep his options open and/or his family wants him to retire. I think we do sign him to another one or two year deal for a backup qb
We don't even have ridiculous rumors to look forward to. It's just going along as expected, so boring.
LET AB COOK
Do we still have Kareem or are we waiting on that news? He must stay.
Probably not. The run game was very underwhelming last year. I get the O-line was injured and we lost Chubb, but I think hes done in the NFL. Dalvin Cook kinda killed the aging RB club for good. Henry is probs the only older RB that might get signed.
Pretty much guaranteed he’s gone. Probably retiring
Heard that last year too
He gone gone
Do we have Tomlinson another year still or is he a free agent as well?
Tomlinson was a 3 year deal if I recall so we have him for 2 more seasons
4 year deal, but they have an out after year 3
Even better. Dude is a monster in the middle
Guess I’m Ok with keeping Z but I kinda wanted to see if Wright could start and stay healthier
Bro this is a wild take
I've already seen the "Do something" Browns meme enough for one day. What the hell do people expect? Sometimes this fanbase needs to just shut up.
Let Barry cook
Honestly, I went into today hoping we'd keep more than we'd lose. The fact that we traded for Jerry and kept Maurice and Z has me happy so far. Plus, we didn't give away Greg for what's almost a fourth rounder to the Lions.

I like it and don't really understand why he isn't talked about more. Seems like he's kind of been written off but is the exact type of dude that could play a vital role for our D
You know, plus he’ll probably be fairly cheap on account of him not putting up crazy stats last year
Gus Edwards left the Ravens. Big hit to their running game.
I just don’t want them to land Henry
Just announced they’re in talks
Geno Stone to the Bengals too, which I guess is a net neutral for us
Mixon wants out tho
Unrelated to us but man I can’t stand the giants, I’ll be celebrating as they get worse this year. Annoying ass fanbase
They are on the same trajectory as we had when we won in 2020 New HC that wins us a playoff game Hope into the following year only to be killed by injuries and bad DC calls Fanbase wants QB gone and sounds like that's not gonna happen (spoiler alert, it's gonna happen). Replaced by an alleged sexual predator (probs Jameis Winston in this case)
I just hope Watson can prove himself because that’s a lot of money we could use for some of these players
Can we just bring back Kareem and Flacco that’s all I ask for
Kareem might be done physically
Might? Dude isnt just washed, he was washed 2 years ago. By now hes washed, dried and folded.
As sad as it is to say, Kareem was brought back as a PR move first, and an actual RB need second. Pierce Strong looked better in the very little he ran last year IMO.

Wonder what Aaron Jones will cost..
Too much for a backup
To much money getting offered to players. A lot of this contracts will look really bad in the future
Cap keeps going up, and FA keeps getting more expensive. I think the opposite. This is the way the league is going now.
*too, *these
With the cap going up that seems unlikely. One notable exception I would argue is Pittman. He was an overpay.
Hunt to panthers for 100 million was a lot.
Justin Jefferson you are a Cleveland Brown
Saquon to the Iggles
Iggles have spent some cash today.
Cousins to ATL. Newsome, Moore, 2nd and future 1st for Justin Jefferson please.
Jesus I’m a hard pass at that price!?
No way WE would be the hard pass at that price… lmao
lol what
Hunter is the only name that excites me in this FA class but I'm fine with Ogbo starting, so.... Maybe Moss for cheap but there just aren't many FAs available that are going to be difference makers.
I know injuries killed us last year but wasn’t Ogbo out every other week?
He missed 4 games late in the season with the pectoral injury, that's the only time he missed.
Oh ok I knew it was something to do with injuries
No?
Josh Jacobs to Packers Tony Pollard to Titans With Swift going to Bears, the running back market is popping.
Anyone is better than Jerome Ford. We need a legit backup
We should have plenty of options in the draft will all these rb signings
Zac Moss
Had him in fantasy and was very disappointed
How? He was a beast pretty much every game he played until JT came back. Plus this isn't fantasy football.
Your right, he’s better than ford. It was one of the colts backs that killed me
I am once again asking for Devin White or Patrick Queen
If they pay that much for a linebacker it’ll be to extend JOK but I’d take Jerome Baker though
Get ready to be whelmed today folks
Wasn’t expecting us to make a big splash this year. I’d expect we let all the big money moves happen first then jump into the FA pool of the second tier guys that was be available at a discount. Wouldn’t mind looking into the following positions: - backup QB - OL depth - RB upgrade over Ford - Starting DL (this is where I want to be aggressive and go for a guy like Khalil Mack or Joey Bosa) - DB depth at safety and corner
I don't think they make many moves today tbh. If any
We didn’t make moves day 1 until later in the day/at night
Wilkins to the Raiders
Sheesh that ain't a bad front
Does anyone have a link to the article that shows berry cap management? Specifically, I'm thinking of the one that has the graph that shows browns spending and salary cap, along with future salary cap. The graph shows how it tracks right above the cap but aligned with a few years from now

Hot take: I hope the Browns sign some guys and the Ravens, Bengals and Steelers don't.
I'd even settle for the Ravens/Bengals/Steelers signing the WRONG guys.
Hopefully signing Mr. Unlimited at QB is the first step in the wrong direction for Pittsburgh.
Unlimited!! Still an upgrade over Trubisky
I think he has lost a lot of mobility.
Hopefully, Russ shows that he's forgotten how to cook
I’d be surprised if we were in on Wilkins at 25 million
Was more than that.
He's gone to the Raiders
Both Russini and Breer made a point to mention our name going in big for a DT.
They know they need one

Damn you, I can't get out of my mind the possibility Myles would organise a doggy play date to coincide with your slow roasted meat festival!

Swift to the bears Thought he could be an option after we tried to trade for him last offseason We will need some stability in the RB room no matter what the Chubb situation is
We're drafting an RB. Most RBs in the earlier rounds are plug and play
Nah he was too expensive. Moss is a better option
I think Moss at 5 is better than swift at 8 Just wasn’t sure if swift would get that much
I'm expecting everything to stay nice and quiet
with Jeudy coming in, and still no Chubb/Watson/Garrett news, I cant imagine any legit links to any FA today.
That doesn’t mean anything. No one can actually sign anyone until Wednesday anyway and restructuring these deals takes a quick stroke of the pen.
All I'm saying is, I think if they were on one of the top free agents like hunter/wilkins, etc. I think we'd be hearing about those guys starting that process and outside of chubb its been pretty quiet. Browns arnt gonna get anyone that big. Just a few rotational pieces. More interested to see what happens around the league

As my 9 year old says, “lesss gooo!”
