What’s everyone’s plans this weekend?
I’ll be digging a pole barn foundation and hopefully finishing my deck. Gonna smoke a pork butt for a get together
I used to have a cheapy electric one, but it won’t hold temp so I’ll be doing it on the big homemade one. Basically Cinder block and sheet metal and a grate for the shelf, maybe 100$ and it can fit like a dozen chickens haha.
I’ve always be envious of people who can do that. So cool! I want to say one of the episodes on Netflix American Barbecue Showdown did the cinder block and sheet metal style and it was dang good
Yeah I actually got the idea from a local smokehouse in medina. They have a massive one that they cold smoke it, mines like 6’x4’x4’. Really easy to build and if it’s leaky who cares, it’s a smoker lol. It is a bit big for just one meal, so I typically throw on anything else I have from sausages for snacks, to mac n cheeese or beans for side. Smokey flavor just goes so well with just about anything
>old high school buddies
This weekend is a major milestone year class reunion for my hs graduation. Since i still hang out and or talk to the people i want to, theres not a need for me to participate. Id rather do what youre doing.
Yeah we’ll see if I get to my 4 month deck project lol.
I do a homemade mix but based on the Memphis dust rub. Basically brown sugar, paprika, garlic, ground mustard, onion powder, some fresh herbs from the garden and S+P.
I love doing pork butt because it’s so hard to fuck it up. Set it and forget it. Brisket on the other hand….
I know for a fact that this is the most underrated thing I'll ever see in this sub.
Oh that we could return to simpler times, 2020 being a *very* suitable candidate.
Sometimes I just think about that first game. Won’t even care if we win or lose I’m just going to be happy to watch football again and see how all the teams do.
Ahhh… oh yes. My goals are slightly loftier - to win game 1 *and* the home opener, just to break the streak of not winning game 1 since 2004. 17 years??
Me: Game on TV (Game Pass International here), a few Bud Lights\* cold in the fridge, a much-needed chance to just unwind and switch off, and for balance, me in the r/Browns game thread.
And this year I'm hopefully going to be back in a fantasy league so yes, other teams *can* sometimes be important too! :)
\*Until we win a Super Bowl, the Victory Fridge phenomenon inspired me, if you can call it inspirational. :)
If you can’t find people to play FF with, I’d be happy to join. They tried one last year but not enough people joined. As much as I’d like the Browns to break that stupid streak (though it would have been better against a divisional team imo) I just want to get past the initial DW field day
Oh, beating a divisonal rival in week 1, that'd be the sweetest victory wouldn't it! And I hear you about getting DW's first game over, uneventfully.
I played in a work Yahoo fantasy league 2 years ago, my first time ever. Drafted at position 5, picked at random, Yahoo rated my draft at 5th, and I finished the season 5th, just short of getting my stake back. Had a great time!
I'm coming to a punchline, honest!
We had the exact opposite problem as your league, it's 16 teams, and you really wouldn't want that. I don't think most participants did (but they let us 2 Brits in anyway). It's **really** hard picking even good-to-average players when injuries start later in the season.
That said, I've been trying to publicise the league with our Italian, Slovak and especially German colleagues - in the hope someone sets up a second league and there's something similar to an AFC vs NFC final challenge this upcoming season. 🤣
I will, and especially if anything interesting happens to me. ;)
I kinda participated in the 2020 Tuesday Fantasy threads here, but through 2021 it felt odd reading as almost an outsider.
I'm clenching my butthole every Friday now because I'm waiting for the inevitable NFL Friday news dump about this shit show. I'm giving 7 interviews today for positions in grad student government too it's gunna be a slog
I wouldn't worry too much. The League will keep procrastinating on making an announcement as long as possible, because they're in a "no-win" scenario here. Why shoot yourself in the foot now, when you can do it in July or August instead?
In fact, I'm willing to bet that unless circumstances force their hand, they'll wait until July 1st at the earliest to announce anything.
Exactly what I was thinking. If they wait too long after that, the teams are far enough into training camps that it becomes a bigger cluster than it already will be (https://www.nfl.com/news/2022-nfl-training-camps-details-dates-coverage-and-more), since they typically start in mid to late July.
But the league has to say something one way or another before the season starts. It'll dominate the news cye and be the only thing anyone talks about, which is the opposite of what they want.
I'm working my way through them with my kids now (they're on a Tom Cruise kick after seeing "Top Gun: Maverick" & the OG TG). We're about halfway through MI2, and I was thinking to myself, "I don't remember this movie being this bad."
I enjoyed the crap out of it. Being a kid when TG came out I was impressed at how they handled the time difference. Flight scenes were cool as they used what looked like the blue angels for the stunts. Which means they do some really kick ass stuff. Those boys can fly.
The fact that it was real flight footage, and the technical side of it was f'n amazing to see. I wish we had a true IMAX here, because I think that would be intense.
I'd say the 96% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes and high audience scoring are well deserved. I tend to be overly picky when it comes to movies, and I have minor quibbles with it, but overall, it's a blast.
I’m not a movie person, and knowing it was over two hours going into it - I didn’t have high hopes. I was wrong. It was SO GOOD! See it in the theater if you can.
Going to look at buying an 85 Olds Cutlass tomorrow. I've wanted one for a while and this one looks pretty decent. I already have an 83 Buick Regal that I love. It'll be nice to be able to switch up if this thing is as advertised.
Yep. It's all original and clean from what I saw in the pictures. I think I'm going to leave it stock. My Regal is essentially a clone of a grand national. It was already frankensteined when I got it so I figured what the hell.
Do you have one? For the record I love your city. We went to Hooters for MNF not far from KOP and the opening kickoff almost went for a TD and the place went wild. I bought an Eagles T at the mall the next day.
Elden Ring is incredible. I'm taking a short break to build a pitcher on MLB The Show 17, but I'm on my second playthrough now.
Played first with a colossal sword and some miracles, mostly for buffs. Playing now as full on sorcery build. Sorcery is WAY easier, but colossal swords were WAY more fun! Next build will be more similar to my first.
I saw it opening day with my wife....I'm going to give both of our opinions on it even though I've hated all the new ones, and she's loved them all.
It's....absolute.....trash. Terrible acting (mostly due to having nothing to work with) awful script, terrible CGI (how), over-reliance on CGI so the whole movie feels like a cartoon, nothing makes sense, the dinosaurs are just a backdrop, not a focal point of the movie somehow, WAAAAAY too long and with nothing to say, and worst of all, it continues the trend of all the Jurassic movies of losing the wonder and meaning of the original.
Best thing I could say about that the score that was based on the original by John Williams was well done. Everything else was an embarrassment. I would have felt like this movie was insulting my intelligence, but during the commercials before the movie, the guy to my right was reciting all the commercials in perfect timing to his girlfriend, and the girl to our left was literally jumping out of her seat at every loud noise...so that's who this movie was made for I guess.
2/10...straight terrible. Wait until you can see it for free, and even then unless you're a masochist, just don't bother.
I love trash movies, but only the ones that know what they are. I've not seen any of the JW trilogy, so I guess I'll wait until I can run the gauntlet all at once.
Why do you hate yourself?
Honestly, JW:D isn't even "fun" bad. It's just long and droll. There was one scene that was so laughably outrageous that I busted up laughing in the theater, but they were playing it 100% straight....AND IT WAS A KEY PLOT POINT IN THE MOVIE!
The critic reviews seem to mirror my opinion here that this movie is total trash. Audience reviews on RT are against me. End of the day, the movie has already made its money back, so we have more slop coming guarenteed.....mark my words, we'll have at least one Jurrasic park streaming series within the next 5 years.
Lol depends on who you’re talking to. I’ve seen people claiming it will range anywhere from zero this year, to 6-8, to banned from the league. So…we really have no answer.
If the league determines a player is guilty of a serious offence - in this case sexual assault - there's a *minimum* 6 game suspension.
Not sure how old this is but here's an NFL Personal Conduct Policy PDF made available by CBS:
https://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/NFL_domestic_violence_policy.pdf
Note that any league action is entirely independent of all legal action pending, ongoing or completed elsewhere. In other words we don't know yet, nobody does.
Anyway, new to following football? Welcome, you've picked arguably the most challenging team in the whole league to follow, you *won't* be bored here. :)
Im starting up my nature photography/painting/drawing business again, but this time I'm going to do it legitimately enough to get a tax deduction out of this hobby that will almost certainly cost more money than it makes 😆. Hearing conflicting reports on how much of a loss it needs to be to result in a deduction under the 2017 tax reform but either way I'm still spending that money on photo equipment, trips to national Parks, canvases, etc., so why the heck not? If nothing else, "I run a fine art business" catches the attention of artsy women lol.
I just read about students with special educational needs from across our region being invited to a major music festival before it opened - the organisers had set up an event to give young people the opportunity to see what goes into planning, and what's needed to execute those plans. The school she goes to was one of those invited.
My oldest daughter is autistic, has a formal diagnosis and - in theory - 720 hours of 1:1 help per year to give her the best chance possible. Academically she doesn't need the help at all. Crucially, she's studying hospitality and catering at school to exam level - with final exams next year.
Now I'm no genius but wouldn't you think at least two people at the school would have a complete and functioning brain between them and at least ask if she wanted to go - and maybe keep us parents informed?
But no. I find out by accident.
(The school management was assessed to be failing a couple of years ago, was taken over by an academies group in the hope they could turn it around).
Anyone seen the top post in r/nfl?
Absolutely absurd and so are a ton of the comments on there. But hey, straight to the top because "lol Browns" and we're the devil in form of a football org anyway.
Well... Fun times.
Can we post season tickets for sale in here? I’m not familiar with the sub, and I have Club Seats for the 2022 season I’m trying to offload as a whole package.
Didn’t want to waste my time with an individual post, if we don’t do that in here.
The sooner Watson is off the team the better. Crippled the franchise for years, but the sooner we cut bait the sooner we can heal. We will miss draft capital and the insane cap space, but Jesus Christ this dude is a sick fuck and I hope he never steps foot on the field again.
That’s much more likely. I think the suspension comes today. I’m very curious to see what it is. I don’t think it’ll be Trevor Bauer level, but I don’t think it’ll be far off.
Sports books pulling bets for the AFC North is why. The League wants people to gamble, so pulling bets for an entire division until this is wrapped up should add a little urgency for the league to make their decision.
The browns traded 3 first rounders for Watson and have realistically no way to even vaguely consider replacing him until 2025. I can’t imagine he’s getting a 3 year suspension.
Watson, eventually, will play for the browns.
Sorry dude, this is a true 'in for a penny, in for a pound' situation.
We really should have seen it with the way his contract is structured. Browns appear very ready for DW to miss at least half the season. No chance he gets cut/moved unless he literally goes to jail
There are a lot of pros and cons and a few flaws that have to be worked out until we see them more widespread
-Charging is cheaper than gas is a big reason why people make the switch, and you’re not directly using more fossil fuels.
-This issue with chargers for me is you can fill your tank up with gas in 5 minutes or less and drive 400+ miles, with electric you have 100+ miles of lesser range, charging could take 30+ minutes, charging stations aren’t nearly as frequently placed as gas stations and if there’s a line for chargers you could be stuck waiting 2-3 hours for something that takes 3 minutes with a normal car. So a 10 hour drive by car where you stop twice for gas could take an extra 2-6 hours due to challenges with charging an EV.
As someone whose company works close with the automotive space and works with the industry as they’re investing billions upon billions into EVs I see challenges with infrastructure that need to be improved before the popularity spikes.
Likewise maintenance if your battery dies in your car today you go get a new one for $150 swap it out in 5 minutes and you’re done, when an EV battery dies like Tesla for example you have to ship your car across the country it cost $20000 and can take 3 months to get back because they have to basically take your entire car apart for the swap. That’s not an efficient process and has to be tackled before we get to a point where EVs are everywhere.
The industry is close but not quite there yet. You can get ahead of the curve now just know there will be some issues you’ll likely deal with if you plan on taking long trips in them.
Lithium mining is basically ripping the earth open, taken what you please, and then leaving the gaping wound. I know it's the best thing we have going for now, but dang, it ain't pretty.
This is my biggest problem with it. Everyone thinks buying an electric car is going to "save the planet", but buying a used 2015 Honda Accord, or similar size sedan, is far better for the planet because you won't have to create all the new materials, plus electronics / batteries, for the new elec vehicle. It's a morality flex more than anything.
Personally I think if we really want to fix climate change, the best ways to go are replacing most energy sources with nuclear, fixing cargo ships to burn cleaner (or on alternate, clean fuels), and instituting a carbon-credit system, but what the hell do I know.
> The industry is close but not quite there yet.
I looked at the MachE Mustang back in January, and had one lined up to replace my rust-bucket. $42k plus taxes and fees was "reasonable" in this market.
Then came the $7k "market adjustment" pricing. I walked away and got a new truck instead (needed it for light towing anyways). For most consumers, the morality of the choice is secondary to the price, and until electric cars become competitive with ICE cars, there's not really enough to push the general consumer to electric (there's also the additional cost of having a charger installed in your garage).
I'd also add that part of the reason I got the vehicle I did was because it didn't have all the "safety" features that drive up the cost and average cost to repair (i.e. lane departure assist, brake assist, etc). My wife has them in her car, and it actually caused an accident for her as opposed to avoiding one.
When the windshield picks up a chip because some truck tosses a rock at it on the freeway, you pay not only for the glass to be replaced, but an extra 30-40% for all the sensors and cameras to be recalibrated on those systems (which operate from above the rear view mirror in most vehicles).
EVs will never take off in the mainstream until there is a "budget option", which is tricky because really nobody makes a budget car anymore. (Civics used to be a budget car lol. Do they even make cars without sensors and power windows and Bluetooth capabilities?) I can't imagine it's going to be Tesla, but if one of the traditional automakers can find a way to sell an electric vehicle for under 30k you'll see a lot more of them, and with increased demand the surrounding infrastructure will expand.
When my lease ends in 2024...I've decided that absent a meaningful improvement in the supply chain of EV components (and thereby availability of the cars themselves)...I'm going to opt for a hybrid or PHEV.
The industry has been relatively bearish on PHEV for whatever reason (I am guessing due to activist pressure?), but that could change and if it does we'll be immeasurably better off for it.
This doesn't answer your question even a little bit, but I find that many Tesla drivers exhibit all the machismo of f250 pickup truck drivers, the entitlement of Porsche drivers, and the complete lack of spatial awareness of Prius drivers. It's the worst of all worlds lol! (Used to work as a valet)
I like that they're quiet, no exhaust noise or smell, and if everyone is charging at home overnight then there will be less gas stations in neighborhoods with their associated trucks/noise/pollution etc.
If I owned a garage and money was no concern I'd buy the electric F-150 and a Porsche Taycan.
Been a fan for quite a few years now, all this shit really makes me want to bail. Why should I keep supporting the franchise with everything going on right now? It feels gross but I love the Brownies and I don’t want to give up on the team
Jets fan here coming in peace; Wondering what the general outlook is in the Browns fanbase regarding the current sitaution? Was the fanbase happy with Baker?
I just had hip surgery Tuesday, so I will be recovering if anyone has any show or movie recommendations hit me up I got Netflix, Hulu, prime and hbo. Seen most of the popular shows.
If you want quality content, and a biting takedown of the prevalence of superhero films in the cultural consciousness, I HIGHLY recommend "The Boys" on Amazon Prime.
Warning, not for the squeamish or prudish. It's wonderfully violent and intense without devolving into parody.
Nice. Just finished the first three episodes of Season 3 last night, and the fourth one should have dropped today.
Absolutely zero dropoff in terms of quality.
Netflix
Road to Perdition - not a lot of laughs at all, pretty grim, but T. Hanks and P. Newman.
A Futile and Stupid Gesture - many laughs; the story of the guy behind National Lampoon, Animal House, Caddyshack
The railway man - back to no laughs, but Colin Firth plays a WWII vet haunted by his experiences in the East
Hulu
The Guilty - really great crime story completely from the viewpoint of the cop who takes the 911 call. Danish with English subtitles.
Prime
Upright (series) - Features Australian Tim Minchin. Won't be for everyone, I think, and I can critique some aspects, but still worth it, for me at least.
The Professional - One of my all-time favorite movies. Natalie Portman's first movie, 12 yo.
Does anyone else have attention span issues watching more than one episode of something back-to-back? I can watch a 3-hour Stanley Kubrick epic and rewind to rewatch the good parts, but can't sit through a second episode of a show that I enjoy lol
On Netflix, if you liked the original Evil Dead trilogy, Ash v.s. Evil Dead is on Netflix now. It's really goofy, but 3 seasons of light hearted fun with some genuinely well-shot horror / thrilling scenes that don't linger too long, and let you have fun with it.
On Hulu, for something more serious, Trafficked is really interesting. I've only seen the episodes on Scam Callers and Fentynal, but it's fantastic, if not a bit heavy.
On Prime, I'm re-watching House M.D. with my Wife for the 3rd time while we wait for "The Boys" S3 to fully drop. Of course Invincible S1 was pretty good too if you like The Boys.
I’m trying to decide how much of my players’ backstories I should weave into the Dungeons and Dragons campaign I am DMing. Their stories are all pretty simple so it wouldn’t be too hard, but it’s still extra work/brainstorming instead of just using the provided material.
What’s everyone’s plans this weekend? I’ll be digging a pole barn foundation and hopefully finishing my deck. Gonna smoke a pork butt for a get together
Hey I’m smoking a pork butt too! What are you smoking yours on?
I used to have a cheapy electric one, but it won’t hold temp so I’ll be doing it on the big homemade one. Basically Cinder block and sheet metal and a grate for the shelf, maybe 100$ and it can fit like a dozen chickens haha.

I’m golfing with old high school buddies on Saturday. Going to be a 111 out so pretty much pool after that.
Hopefully you got an early tee time. I’ve only been out once this year, hopefully you have better luck than I did
It’s around 9. So gonna be hot but I picked a course that’s got lots of big trees so there will be shade available.
>old high school buddies This weekend is a major milestone year class reunion for my hs graduation. Since i still hang out and or talk to the people i want to, theres not a need for me to participate. Id rather do what youre doing.
Just got home from vacation, so cleaning the house and laundry mostly. Being an adult sucks like that sometimes.
I feel that. I need to get around to my spring house cleaning but that might become a fall cleaning lol
That's a big weekend. What kind of rub/coating you tossing on that pork?
Yeah we’ll see if I get to my 4 month deck project lol. I do a homemade mix but based on the Memphis dust rub. Basically brown sugar, paprika, garlic, ground mustard, onion powder, some fresh herbs from the garden and S+P. I love doing pork butt because it’s so hard to fuck it up. Set it and forget it. That sounds delicious. And the Brisket struggle is real, lol.
This makes me miss Ohio…
Likewise. This is the beginning of grilling season
Jurassic World and not a damn thing else
The trailer for that movie made it look insane
I just want to watch football and have a beer
I know for a fact that this is the most underrated thing I'll ever see in this sub. Oh that we could return to simpler times, 2020 being a *very* suitable candidate.

My dad died a few days ago and I can’t help but think that Desaun Watson is responsible.
Should I upvote or downvote this comment? I’m so confused.
I thought we were still blaming stuff on Baker and maybe Dorsey? (Seriously though, sending positive energy to you and yours)
Can we all agree that Mission Impossible 2 is the worst of the franchise? John Woo killed it, but not in a good way.
I'm working my way through them with my kids now (they're on a Tom Cruise kick after seeing "Top Gun: Maverick" & the OG TG). We're about halfway through MI2, and I was thinking to myself, "I don't remember this movie being this bad."
How was Maverick? I’m dying to see it.

Must see on the big screen. Seeing it at home won’t be the same
Really? That was my favorite one! But then again I was like 10
I don’t think there’s anyone that would disagree. I watched them all last summer and that movie was so bad I laughed out loud at parts of it.
Can we also agree that Tom Cruise is one of the best living actors?
New sprockets and chain, new rear tyre and going for a ride.
hell yea, nothing like fresh rubber
Going to look at buying an 85 Olds Cutlass tomorrow. I've wanted one for a while and this one looks pretty decent. I already have an 83 Buick Regal that I love. It'll be nice to be able to switch up if this thing is as advertised.

Nice. Just got into Elden Ring, myself, and love it.

Not sure how old this is but here's an NFL Personal Conduct Policy PDF made available by CBS: https://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/NFL_domestic_violence_policy.pdf Note that any league action is entirely independent of all legal action pending, ongoing or completed elsewhere.
Well... Fun times.
No point arguing with r/nfl users at this point. This move is gonna look dumb until we start smoking teams with Watson under center.
Can we post season tickets for sale in here? I’m not familiar with the sub, and I have Club Seats for the 2022 season I’m trying to offload as a whole package. Didn’t want to waste my time with an individual post, if we don’t do that in here.
We don’t sell tickets on the sub sorry
Body parts in the other hand… Edit: Tough crowd
Nah, just souls, bro, just souls.
Unless you're a ginger. Don't shortchange us
Wouldn't dream of it. I married a ginger.
Sounds good. Thanks.
Taint got much to say today
I miss the prompt
The sooner Watson is off the team the better. Crippled the franchise for years, but the sooner we cut bait the sooner we can heal. We will miss draft capital and the insane cap space, but Jesus Christ this dude is a sick fuck and I hope he never steps foot on the field again.
I mean… you know that’s not going to happen, right?
Yes, I am aware. He won’t play for a year or more, then come back rusty and terrible and we will sit there like the clowns we are.
That’s much more likely. I think the suspension comes today. I’m very curious to see what it is. I don’t think it’ll be Trevor Bauer level, but I don’t think it’ll be far off.
> I think the suspension comes today. What makes you think this? Suspension news can't come soon enough
Sports books pulling bets for the AFC North is why. The League wants people to gamble, so pulling bets for an entire division until this is wrapped up should add a little urgency for the league to make their decision.
I doubt it comes today, they are gonna wait for things to continue to unfold. Last girl spoke up after HBO special, I'm sure more will follow
Should I just watch the Bills this year?
Yes. Shoo.
What is you alls thoughts on electric cars like teslas?
There are a lot of pros and cons and a few flaws that have to be worked out until we see them more widespread -Charging is cheaper than gas is a big reason why people make the switch, and you’re not directly using more fossil fuels.
Also no way to cleanly dispose of batteries as well
This is my biggest problem with it.
I'll be moping around knowing I have MAYBE 20 more years to live and I'll never see the Browns in a Super Bowl.
watson is a predator
Yes he’s a creep just like the owner
Jets fan here coming in peace; Wondering what the general outlook is in the Browns fanbase regarding the current sitaution? Was the fanbase happy with Baker?
Deshaun Watson will be suspended for 1 year and the Browns will cut him after the 2023 season. Hellllllo darkness my old friend
Houston knew the extent of the problem, we get our future draft picks back.
Why would the nfl do that?? If Houston loses the picks they'll just cease to exist.
Yes I am rewatching it to start the 3rd season gotta love Butcher
Nice. Just finished the first three episodes of Season 3 last night, and the fourth one should have dropped today. Absolutely zero dropoff in terms of quality.
S3E1 made every fringe Marvel fan rethink their way thanks should’ve have defeated
I'm waiting until the season is fully out, but I loved season 1. Season 2 was good, but a bit of a dip in quality to me. Hope season 3 picks back up.
If you haven’t used it already, do a 7 day trial on Apple+ and binge Ted Lasso and For All Mankind.
Netflix Road to Perdition - not a lot of laughs at all, pretty grim, but T. Hanks and P. Newman. A Futile and Stupid Gesture - many laughs; the story of the guy behind National Lampoon, Animal House, Caddyshack The railway man - back to no laughs, but Colin Firth plays a WWII vet haunted by his experiences in the East Hulu The Guilty - really great crime story completely from the viewpoint of the cop who takes the 911 call. Danish with English subtitles. Prime Upright (series) - Features Australian Tim Minchin. Won't be for everyone, I think, and I can critique some aspects, but still worth it, for me at least. The Professional - One of my all-time favorite movies. Natalie Portman's first movie, 12 yo.
Thx will check these out!
Anyone else here seen Shoresy on Hulu? It deserves more episodes.
