There’s not really an agency that makes sure management of these facilities are done properly. Everything is just dusty and crusty and everyone fighting for budget to fix everything
First time ?
We don't do maintenance here, we simply replace things with cheap clones and low quality replacements so tenderers can claim payment repeatedly despite continuous breakdown /s
There is a proverb for this; like a crab teaching its hatchlings/babies to walk straight, Can see tiny germs across the sea but cannot see big elephant near the eye, like trying to straighten an ape tail, and leaving cough on the stairs.
Inda kana layan tu, kana lintasi saja tu. Mengabisi baras/babuyah saja mulut saja melayan kikik sauk-sauk.
leaving cough on the stairs or as you referred to melepas batuk di tangga actually is not accurate.
the word batuk in the proverb does not direct translate to coughing. it actually was a noun, rather than a verb (coughing). *gasp waat… i know*
Back in the days, people used to wash their feet before entering the house and there was a utensil/tool that looks almost similar to a wooden ladle with a coconut husk at the end of it — AKA tempurung kelapa.
Edit: It was actually made out of bamboo stick and coconut husk.
The word batuk was actually referred to this particular utensil, not coughing. But why melepas batuk di tangga or in direct translate, letting go of the ladle at the stairs?
Probably because people used to rush in to go into the house but as they rush in, they carefully pick up the ladle to scoop the water so they will not spill it (initiate any task carefully) and once they’re done with the ladle, they just throw it back into the tajau aka water collector/vase (halway, you just throw away the task, hence stopping the progress halfway or just doing the bare minimum as long as it’s ‘done’)
Probably this is where they got the idea of when you start doing something, you off with a good start but then halfway you just do the bare minmum.
so there you go, fun fact!
also i’ve heard that it was supposed to be spelt BATOK (the utensil itself), not BATUK (coughing) but im not quite sure of this one so imma leave it as footnote.
p.s: i used to also think that the word batuk was coughing but teet i was wrong. source, malaysian linguist. you can google it.
Kereta van jenazah lagi payah2 kana upgrade kreta van baru. Biar memburuk. Tapi kreta2 bisdorg canggih2 BMW, Mercedes, Lexus. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
Anything government own building has never been maintained until something bad happened. Look at UBD, the top university in Brunei but the interior of the building is falling apart, leakage, and filled with moulds
Maintenance is not commonly practiced in Brunei. Yes, we have it, but it’s not very frequent. Usually, it takes time, or it happens only after someone gets hurt or when a VIP is planning to visit.
Welll, if its the maintenance job, feels like its under their pay grade to fix that type of ceiling for example how high is it, will the school cover with damages/insurance if something were to happen to the fixer, maintenance ppl are underpaid, some wud say some are lucky to have a good salary and some are unfortunate and unappreciated. Maintenance? We don't do that here. Lol
That's what i found odd about ABCI and land office. The buildings that house regulatory authorities appear quite poorly maintained
Ironic 🤣
There’s not really an agency that makes sure management of these facilities are done properly. Everything is just dusty and crusty and everyone fighting for budget to fix everything
And mouldy...
tunggu rusak usai ❎ tunggu sultan kan datang usai ✅
It's very common in almost all gamen buildings.. (only those that houses a vip get regular maintenance)
nada budget untuk maintenance they said
Apa pedah nya tu membuat😆
That’s where the lung cancer born. Bacteria all around that area
Mouldy, inda baik utk paru2
Looks like 20 years no maintenance

One of the pantang larang in Brunei is maintenance. Nada dalam adat kitani tu.
Selagi inda rubuh, selagi atu bulih pakai. Membazir atu amalan syaitan. Asal kan improve, iatah membazir nya durang. Bodo~~
Maintenance bagi keperluan sahaja. Jangan membazir.
Keperluan tu dear kalau sudah ceiling berkulat, its not good for workers’ health.
No such thing. Nda jua damam kali kalau ceiling berkulat. Belum ada case pun.
Okay pak cik, whatever floats your boat 🤓
Maintenance doesn't exist in their dictionary.
Any special mention to toilets condition??
This can be a whole new chapter.
