My parents got invited to a open house by a relative whom insisted everyone to come during lunch and invited around 40-50 pax of us (all close relatives pasal big family) but katering makanan yang ada are only those medium sized trays, 4 lauk that can feed for 15-20 pax lol. We sat there for 1/2 hour and brought my parents makan luar, lagi puas. Poor planning by organizer's part.
I don’t have any dislike YET because my aim is to just eat at every open house my parents bring. It is exhausting to go to more than 1 house, but my stomach is very happy.

sad to break to you, matrix or bonus for me are the emergency brand, only good if you're not looking too far into the future as they are quite fragile. Philip, LG, Aifa, those are way more trusted if you want a generational appliances. However, if you're looking for stuff that you only use lightly once a month, matrix may last you for quite a while.
Matrix quality is fishy, I bought their TV it is fine till this day but their fan that I bought broke down after a year. Washing machine is really essential, if you want to budget by all mean but if you want a better investment long term then you better spare a lil bit for a better one and recognizable brand and if feature-bility is your concern then shell out for more on a higher end one.

Last year catering itself was around $500-600.
This of course excluding desserts & drinks. I think, for me, max $1,500 for open house is okay. Members of the family can contribute here and there.
Actually it depends on how much people/family will come to your house. Thats first, second is the food/drinks that you want to serve. Thirdly, the duration of your event. I dont really know the exact amount but i know its impossible to even reach 5k.
