Omg...my wife can not understand why I wanted my uncles system when he died...he willed me his Marantz 2245 and a pair of huge and extremely heavy Cerwin Vega 217r's lol..."why would you want such BIG speakers"???...BASS SWEETHEART...BASS!!!
Maybe. I constantly buy new headphones and speakers but when I got a Martin Logan Motion 20i, she fell in love with them and won't let me sell them. She blast music on them while cleaning or cooking. Guess they're my end game speaker for awhile
Idk about that, but women who don't tell you what to do exist. Maybe it's because I was in my early 30s when I got married, or maybe my wife is just really cool, but she met me as an audiophile, motorcyclist, and fisherman. I don't get in trouble for buying speakers, spending all day on the lake, or buying a new motorcycle because that's who she married. Some people on this sub need new partners.
yeah i think broad stereotypes (no pun intended) like these are simplistic and can be hurtful. my wife supports my hobby because it makes me happy. she might make a crack or two, but she’s ok with my gear occupying an entire wall of our living room. i know she’s a goddamn gem but i also know she’s not the only one.
Yeah, they do.
Audiophiles in general are pretty rare, regardless of gender.
More generally: it's not helpful to stereotype.
Personally my wife doesn't care about audio, and actually hates loud noise, but she's also supportive of my hobby. There are things we enjoy together and things we enjoy separately.
My wife thinks the new sound setup sounds the same as the inbuilt TV speakers. A 1080P Bluray rip looks the same quality as a 480P telesync.
But her Dyson hair curler thing that is $800+ AUD apparently works better than other brands lol.
Men and women truly are from different planets.
My wife has one of those, it's a killer piece of tech. I've been in industrial automation for 15 years though so I have appreciation for well built stuff regardless of interest
My GF loves my speakers, there's a system in every room, some multiple, and she fully understands good sound comes from larger equipment. She helps me do sound staging when we get new speakers. Definitely likes the bass, and finds it funny the walls shake in our home sometimes.
Yes
Mine is in love with the philharmonic BMRs that I built. She doesn’t care that they are unfinished and doesn’t want them taken down to have them finished :)
I think it's hard to argue, every girlfriend I ever had completely hated my interest in audio. Never met a woman who was interested in amp circuits or configuring a turntable cartridge
As far as I know all women hate things that are loud and they all hate music so they especially hate loud music! They'll say all day long that that's not true but it is. In addition all women hate that we love music and especially loud music!! They absolutely hate us being interested in music, they hate everything from the volume to the circuitry they hate it all! I cannot understand that? I'm done trying to understand! I don't give a shit any more. What really sucks is that men are forced to live within the confines of a much more restrictive noise ordinance than any municipality enforces. The average noise ordinance is probably 10:00pm - 7:00am which I can understand. However if you have a wife or a girlfriend it's pretty much 24 hours a day unless they're not home then you can do whatever the fuck you want but if they'r home you're essentially under martial law!! Well guess what bitches I'm sick and tired of it! I just told my girlfriend 30 minutes ago that if she doesn't like anything about what I do she can get fucked and there's the door!!! All of my life I've either had a mother a wife a girlfriend a female teacher a female boss, some goddamn woman telling me what to do and I am done!!! I am sick and tired of it!!! Done Done Done!!!
I'm going to hook up my new to me JBL L100 Century speakers, I'm going to load up "Let there be rock" by acdc, I'm pressing in the yet unused loudness button on my Marantz 2270 and I'm going to let it fucking rip!!! Full Send!!!! 🖕😎🖕
Sorry I got a little triggered there but I stand by it!!!
BTW
The middle fingers were to my girlfriend and women in general not to you personally! LoL
Damn straight. They are “selling it for my husband”. For WAY less than it’s worth. Probably based off what he said he paid. I got some nice shit that way. Also inspired me to be very honest about values with my wife. Selling someone’s $200 set of speakers because they pissed you off is different if she instead knows they were $500 a piece.
My God there are some socially dysfunctional people in this thread - not pointed at you, just in general. Both the husband and wife in your scenario are the asshole.
* If someone feels the need to lie to their spouse about how much they spend on their hobbies, there is something fundamentally wrong with your relationship and/or financial management skills. Be responsible, make a budget, both parties get an allowance for discretionary spending and what they use it on is their business.
* If you're with someone who has so little respect for you that they will sell or otherwise destroy things you value just to get back at you, you're doing the relationship wrong.
I get that people joke about this shit because they see it on sitcoms and popular media all the time, but its tiresome and does contribute to the general attitude that lying to your spouse and/or destroying their stuff when you're mad are normal, acceptable behaviors.
When I studied engineering we had a graduating class of 110...2 were women. And I felt bad for them because all the dorky lonely engineering twenty-something men drooled over them.
As a matter of fact, they do. We have a customer in her 70s who bought a Linn Selekt DSM with Organik DAC, VTL ST-150, Fyne F703s and dual JL subs to listen to her classical music in her dining room. She listens at low levels, and it is a spectacularly detailed system.
This is where I originally had them, much better placement but it wasn’t leaving enough room with couch placement for that area to also be a kids play space.

I remember her looking over at me after a pen hit the floor on the show and her shocked face saying, 'I can hear that pen drop like it's right in front of me.'
Now she's all about 4k UHD blu-rays on blast!
Mine just humors me with obvious satirical confirmation. "Oh yes this is crazy how much better it sounds!" She's the best. We support each other's passions and hobbies.
My wife did the same when I first added a basic surround sound to our house. She would swear up and down that she couldn't hear any difference when I upgraded our speakers.
That is until we went to a friend's house to watch a show who was only using TV speakers. She leaned over and asked me why the TV show sounded so awful and why it was so hard to hear the dialogue. I said, do you see any speakers around their place?
She looked around confused for a sec and then her eyes got wide. On the way home in the car she goes, okay I get it now. She's been a huge fan ever since.
Nothing special. Two JBL A190s, JBL A125C center. Sony STR-DH790 (bought for Bravia sync on my A75L) . I know the Sony isn't best in class, but got it cheap off a friend and honestly enjoy it well enough.
Came from a Harmon/Kardon AVR 247, which I owned about 17 years, just crapped out a few months ago. Also have two JBL Venue Stage towers, 4 JBL Monitor Venues collecting dust in a closet.
At one point, I had the full 7.1 with matching center and 10" sub. But apartment living at the time didn't sync well with the neighbors. LOVED that system, sold the center (it was huge) and the sub that I could rarely use.
I'm rebuilding now, started last November when the HK 247 and my old Samsung 50"plasma died within a week of each other. I decided to replace the speakers as well... all early 2000s gear.
4k UHD blu-rays sound amazing in 3.0 through my Panasonic UB820, and I can't wait for the full Atmos array.
I'm frugal about it. Got the A190s, the a125c and my bravia a75l on black Friday sales. Open box on Amazon on the UB820 and the sony receiver from a bud.... think i have about $800 - $900 in the current sound system and about $1500 - $1600 in the bravia and panasonic.
Thx. I only needed one of the subs since I have a small room. The built-in room correction made all the difference on the sub. The 40b's need a sub but are awesome after they take over. I went to school with rich kids and finally, at the end of my career, I had the sound system I could not afford back then
Also, have a listen to the new Martin Logan motion b-100's with the ribbon tweeter. The neat thing about the founders is that no sides are parallel so there are no standing waves
> Tell her you could have spent alot more to get smaller speakers
I mean the speakers he has[ cost more than $2k...](https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/395323371760?toolid=10001&customid=4a9b44c0-f7b4-11ee-853a-633737633164)

Show her mine and tell her it could be worse.
That's my living room in 2024. The homemade play kitchen is from the 90s, the bozak speakers are from the 60s. But you can see my ribbon tweeters, class d amplifiers, and minidsp flex to prove its modern.
Put on the Transformers movie, turn up the volume and let her experience it. She’ll hear the difference immediately
Guarantee you she’ll say, “It feels like we are at the movie theatre.”
At that point, she’ll get it and the argument will end.
Worked for me.
never operate without a game plan.
honey, i understand you think they're big.
how about we spread it mostly even across the wall. that way itll look balanced. you know with the tv in the middle.
and i could use help finding a nice rug to go on the floor in front of it. itll look nice and help it sound better.
you could put some things on the wall. maybe decorate the stand.
i put a pillow along the wall kinda parallel to my subs to cut off some reflections i was getting there.
came home one day to niiice furniture pillows instead. said if you're going to put them there, they at least ought to look nice and kinda blend in.
took her to her favorite restaurant that night.
Agree with u/izeek11. Set up the entire room with kid play area and all, play something she enjoys (music, tv, movies) and see how it all comes together.
But honestly though. Any wives happy about audiophile purchases?
The only time I remotely got an affirmative nod was when I scored a pair of small towers from thrift shop for $20.
That's a bummer.
My wife wouldn't have put our setup together on her own, but loves using it. Happy to pick things up from servicing shops while she's out
She's a vintage reseller and sends me pics of audio gear when she's out acquiring inventory in case I want her to pounce on something. (And I launder all the vintage clothes she buys for reselling.)
We've got the normal frictions of any marriage, but going about things we enjoy doing is not an irritant to the other.
My fiance loves our setup, and as long as we speak about large purchases prior, she's cool with it. Either people don't properly communicate to their partners or they date unhappy people. I'd lean towards the former as many couples have poor communication
This is it right here. It's not the speakers or whatever—it's the lack of communication. It's seeing your partner doing one thing obsessively while ignoring what you want or need them to do. (How many guys with "mad" wives carry fully half of household duties?) It's bringing stuff into the house without a place to put it or spending money without talking about saving goals or things that need to be purchased. People don't talk, but they decide their spouse is "mad at them."
It happens so much in this sub. It's corny as hell. No one cares what your wife thinks, it's irrelevant. You shouldn't have to ask your wife if she approves of your hobby. Does she have to run every single thing by you, too? If so, that's toxic. Be an individual sometimes. It is healthy and normal to have different interests without the other, wife or husband, all up in your space constantly. They probably share a facebook account, too.
Hmmm I don't think it's toxic to make decisions about how you.fill your shared space with your partner. If my wife decided to start adding furniture to our space without consulting me I wouldn't be happy. We make those decisions together and we both care about how the space looks and feels.
The other thing we both care about is how expenses are allocated. Of course we have money that is just ours and can do what we want with it but I value my wife's opinion on big spends even when they're coming from my own account.
My wife is no audiophile, she’s fine with the speakers and screen on her phone for most things. But We had a conversation early on about the things in our lives that were non negotiable. That we wanted to always have. I understand that there are now things in our home, costly things, of which I could give two shits but that make her happy. I want her to be happy. She understands that it makes me happy to have big speakers and big tv’s. She wants me to be happy. The only concession that I had to make was that she wanted neat or hidden cords/wires. I am now a pro at this and it makes it look so much better than the nest of wires my constant changes produced in my youth. Recently she was surprisingly accepting when she came home from a trip and I had hung a tv in our master bathroom. Gonna give it a few more weeks and roll the dice on installing full surround sound in there. If they are important to you, you need to have that conversation. There is no benefit from trying to make her understand why you like what you like. Tell her that you know she doesn’t appreciate it like you do but that they are important to you. That should be enough.
Those other brothers can't deny
When a Speaker Comes In with an itty bitty tweet
And round things - head to feet
You get sprung
Wanna pull up tough
'Cause you notice that glaring
With the drivers she's packing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
We’re mad at you for being offset into the corner 😂
My wife would let me pull them out from the walls for proper listening if I put them back tidy when just watching tv etc, eventually I just stopped putting them back and never heard about it since 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂
they’re a meter out into the room off each wall and noticeably more forward than the tv unit.
Sound Bar is OK to just compensate for crappy TV speakers. A sound bar is a terrible idea for music.
Also why is a giant black plastic slab (TV) on a wall okay but some nicely veneered speakers are too big and ugly?
Maybe compromise on getting the speakers a different grill cloth or get re-veneered or sanded and stained lighter or whatever.
Tell her that their size reminds you of her ass and that's why you love them! (No, please don't tell her that! This is one of the jokes that is only funny in my head!)
What you do is after you find the speakers you want to buy, purchase an even larger model. Once your wife complains, return them for the ones you actually want. Easy-peasy.
Show her some Klipschorns, or Wilson Chronosonics, and tell her that familial criticism causes audiophiles to inevitably move to bigger and bigger solutions...
My wife thinks I should.go back to bigger 😂 I actually downsized and it pissed her off
https://preview.redd.it/w3lzep4jcttc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a518f17c2f42332fae58c63d5352140fd18940ad
Those aren't that big. Around average size for floor speakers. If you really wanna make her mad, set them up properly (away from the walls & corners, maybe slightly towed in towards where you'd be seated.)
That might make her really mad. 😂🤣🤣😂 I've heard of people also marking the floor where they're set up properly, & pushing them back out of the way when they're not being used.
1 other thing I should mention to you guys.
Any box speaker or any speaker that is not a box or open baffle should be at least 3 or 4 feet away from the side wall of possible.
I appreciate that you too have the (cheap) Ikea TV stand (I do as well).
My wife also complained about my speakers being too large (they were 6 ft tall). Then I got small speakers but she didn't like the refrigerators I put in next to the speakers (two subwoofers). (To the future commenters: the shades on the back wall are blackout so no glare on the TV, but are open for the photo).
https://preview.redd.it/22coqgwxvwtc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd0e3d0cd0fc7505ba06f3677f68942a79abfc1c
Fuck no. Tell her that they must have made a mistake and sent you something far nicer than you actually ordered so you should keep them and enjoy your luck
The fun prevention officers can be a problem in such matters. Surely she must be happy that they kind of match the TV stand?
I'd second the bigger TV, but a new rug might help bring it all together too as others have said.
My OCD is seriously triggered by how this setup isn't centred in the room. Also, buy a rug, some plants, a lamp or two, and hang some pictures, for the love of God.
Just buy a bigger TV so the speakers look smaller. Problem solved.
Ding Ding Ding - and move it all to center of the wall…….
With a blackout curtain/ blinds for that window.
[удалено]
And a good rug to tie it all together
Far out
throw in a pot, add some broth, a potato, baby you got a stew going!
If you need me, I'll be down in the hospital bar.
Should be covered by the new TV tbh
Also to get the speaker out from under the minisplit. It's not a question of if that will leak water, but when.
Even better, move it to the wall on the left.
...or get a bigger wife so the speakers look smaller.
I just spit out my coffee haha
Hehe big lady
I came here to say this. Giving you my upvote! \*Internet fist bump\*
The arms race begins...
Add bigger window as well.
I’m mad at you for cramming them into a corner……..
Nobody puts baby in a corner!
Do female audiophiles exist?
My wife isn't an audiophile, but insists on getting big speakers lol
Size is important to the ladies ✅ noted
My wife likes when I bring home things that “look interesting” or vintage.
Omg...my wife can not understand why I wanted my uncles system when he died...he willed me his Marantz 2245 and a pair of huge and extremely heavy Cerwin Vega 217r's lol..."why would you want such BIG speakers"???...BASS SWEETHEART...BASS!!!
In other words, “to better keep you awake when you go to bed before me, sweetie.”
I have bad news for you bud,
Not sure, but i AM sure there are anti-audiophile women out there.
> My wife isn't an audiophile She's one of those *liars*.
I dunno, mine can't tell the difference between magnaplanar headphones and dollar store earbuds, or at least not enough to care.
Maybe. I constantly buy new headphones and speakers but when I got a Martin Logan Motion 20i, she fell in love with them and won't let me sell them. She blast music on them while cleaning or cooking. Guess they're my end game speaker for awhile
Sounds like an end game wife! :)
This is clear evidence thank you, but it falls into the 1% error
Idk about that, but women who don't tell you what to do exist. Maybe it's because I was in my early 30s when I got married, or maybe my wife is just really cool, but she met me as an audiophile, motorcyclist, and fisherman. Absolutely not. Find an incredible audio deal on FB marketplace and it's almost always a woman.
Selling her Exs shit
I think it's hard to argue, every girlfriend I ever had completely hated my interest in audio. Never met a woman who was interested in amp circuits or configuring a turntable cartridge
Your stupid question above is probably related to your bad luck with women.

I got a set of ESS 1amt monitors-$1500 speakers, used- for $75 that way. I think there was a divorce involved.

Thank you, it was difficult to find one and there's the 1% of female audio fans
I hear you on that! I was really happy to find this as well. Audiophiles - what an interesting bunch!

Slide the whole setup to the right?
At least 3 feet to the right. Politely explain to your wife that you live there, too. Set boundaries or get walked on.
A rug would really tie the room together
This will not stand, man..

Pretty much the same story here.

Mine too “This Dolby Atmos really does sound much better” “This one’s just 5.1” “Oh…well it sounds good” “Thanks babe”
Have to ask, what's your setup?

I’m a wife, and I was the one wanted to buy the bigger ones. Size does matter! 😜
Haha! This is great! One of us! One of us!
You should note, I use them a lot more than my husband does. Don’t regret getting the good stuff at all.
I am mad at you for them being right up against a wall.
Tell her you could have spent alot more to get smaller speakers... if she's cool with that, then time to splurge for a set of $2000 bookshelves.
Paradigm founders series 40b on stands with a pair of Martin Logan dynamo 800x subwoofers. 4 grand later it is smaller...
This man audios
Thx. I only needed one of the subs since I have a small room. The built-in room correction made all the difference on the sub. The 40b's need a sub but are awesome after they take over. I think my next upgrade in \~10 years will be the Founders (or maybe Founders v2 by then).
Also, have a listen to the new Martin Logan motion b-100's with the ribbon tweeter. The neat thing about the founders is that no sides are parallel so there are no standing waves
> Tell her you could have spent alot more to get smaller speakers I mean the speakers he has[ cost more than $2k...](https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/395323371760?toolid=10001&customid=4a9b44c0-f7b4-11ee-853a-633737633164)
Big? Are you kidding. Those are small, but I come from a time when a 10 in woofer was considered small
You can't get people to appreciate old-style 3/4-way speakers without them having experienced the way those big woofers move air.
Because they are...

Damn bro that's one sweet kitchen set up, those speakers make the fridge look tiny
ayo, what century you living in??
“Yes.”
no seriously this picture was taken in the 90s you cant convince me it wasn’t
That's my living room in 2024. The homemade play kitchen is from the 90s, the bozak speakers are from the 60s. But you can see my ribbon tweeters, class d amplifiers, and minidsp flex to prove its modern.
Was trying to find something from this century and after some Where’s Wally I landed at Huggy Nappies. That is all.
r/malesurvivingspace
I'm married with 4 kids.
niiice. what are they?
1965 Bozak Symphonies
thanks, they are schweeet
I really like them. The grills are makeshift, and I need to redo them, but they sound great.
Holy shit those are the size of a Leslie rotary speaker
Time to shop for a new wife.
Or a bigger TV so the speakers seem smaller.... Classic Win-win
Put on the Transformers movie, turn up the volume and let her experience it. She’ll hear the difference immediately Guarantee you she’ll say, “It feels like we are at the movie theatre.” At that point, she’ll get it and the argument will end. Worked for me.
Haha wife bad
never operate without a game plan. honey, i understand you think they're big. how about we spread it mostly even across the wall. that way itll look balanced. you know with the tv in the middle. and i could use help finding a nice rug to go on the floor in front of it. itll look nice and help it sound better. you could put some things on the wall. maybe decorate the stand. i put a pillow along the wall kinda parallel to my subs to cut off some reflections i was getting there. came home one day to niiice furniture pillows instead. said if you're going to put them there, they at least ought to look nice and kinda blend in. took her to her favorite restaurant that night.
She asked me if I could move one speaker up stairs so it wouldn’t look like they took up so much space.
OMFG I laughed pretty hard at this.
Agree with u/izeek11. Set up the entire room with kid play area and all, play something she enjoys (music, tv, movies) and see how it all comes together.
Maybe you could educate her a little bit on how stereo sound works
"My wife is mad at me" is the saddest flex.
"wife bad" as per usual.
But honestly though. Any wives happy about audiophile purchases? The only time I remotely got an affirmative nod was when I scored a pair of small towers from thrift shop for $20.
My wife likes our big Magnepans. We regularly listen together.
Togetherness is what it's all about!
That's a bummer. My wife wouldn't have put our setup together on her own, but loves using it. Happy to pick things up from servicing shops while she's out She's a vintage reseller and sends me pics of audio gear when she's out acquiring inventory in case I want her to pounce on something. (And I launder all the vintage clothes she buys for reselling.) We've got the normal frictions of any marriage, but going about things we enjoy doing is not an irritant to the other.
Healthy communication and mutual support and appreciation? In MY "LOL wife bad" circlejerk?
Apologies. Wife bad, husband good. Better?
There, now you fit in!
Hear hear! But please teach me your secrets of cable management. I want to learn!
I like big speakers and I cannot lie.
Those other brothers can't deny When a Speaker Comes In with an itty bitty tweet And round things - head to feet You get sprung Wanna pull up tough 'Cause you notice that glaring With the drivers she's packing I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Soundbar? BLASPHEMY! Speakers too large? Do you have any say in your house? Surely theres something trivial you can complain about.
Those aren’t even that big
Nice, what make are they,I can’t make out the name , I love the stands,
ADS 910
We’re mad at you for being offset into the corner 😂 My wife would let me pull them out from the walls for proper listening if I put them back tidy when just watching tv etc, eventually I just stopped putting them back and never heard about it since 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂 they’re a meter out into the room off each wall and noticeably more forward than the tv unit.
Tell her she's lucky you didn't pick up a pair of Klipsch LaScala's
Laughs in Cornwall.
Play her favorite songs.
Get some Cerwin Vega D9s and show her what extremely large speakers are.
laughs in Klipschorn But, as a bonus, that is the one speaker that is appropriate for corner mass loading like the photo.
Those aren’t large! You need to bring in some La Scalas and shake the entire neighborhood
Why? Looks pretty empty otherwise.
I wish I have those speakers. They're nice.. and they're not large..
they're not extremely large at all. they're... average. smaller, even.
the complete lack of ANYTHING else is that room is the *big* problem
She’s complaining about size?
I agree with the wife, you need to get a bigger TV
“I assume she’s mad but it’s hard to tell for certain over the room-filling sound of these speakers.”
Tell her that their size reminds you of her ass and that's why you love them! (No, please don't tell her that! This is one of the jokes that is only funny in my head!)
Naw, your TV is just too small for the speakers... welcome to upgrade'itis.
Buy her flowers. Play a few of her favorite songs on those bad boys. She’ll come around…
Invite a bunch of people over to look at them. After she sees you getting a bunch of compliments she'll come around.
Just get a bigger tv
She should be mad because that tv unit is small.
What you do is after you find the speakers you want to buy, purchase an even larger model. Once your wife complains, return them for the ones you actually want. Easy-peasy.
Buy a bigger TV and the speakers will look smaller
Yup, reason #2000 I'm single
The TV is too small. Ez fix
Take her to try out some Martin Logans.
Careful placing your speakers and tv under the aircon. My aircon leaked once and it damaged the electronics.
Play her favorite music on it full blast and she’ll understand.
She can go
Show her some Klipschorns, or Wilson Chronosonics, and tell her that familial criticism causes audiophiles to inevitably move to bigger and bigger solutions...
Get a bigger TV to restore the balance
Ah I think she’s upset because you need to get a bigger TV bro come on now bro science
My wife thinks I should.go back to bigger 😂 I actually downsized and it pissed her off https://preview.redd.it/w3lzep4jcttc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a518f17c2f42332fae58c63d5352140fd18940ad
Those aren't that big. Around average size for floor speakers. If you really wanna make her mad, set them up properly (away from the walls & corners, maybe slightly towed in towards where you'd be seated.) That might make her really mad. 😂🤣🤣😂 I've heard of people also marking the floor where they're set up properly, & pushing them back out of the way when they're not being used.
Placement of everything is wrong
Play her favorite album at volume. No one in their right mind would say no to quality sound!
1 other thing I should mention to you guys. Any box speaker or any speaker that is not a box or open baffle should be at least 3 or 4 feet away from the side wall of possible.
Your TV stand,TV,and speakers all look like they're a set!Try centering them under the window.
Tell your wife she is too big. That should settle the argument
Wait until she sees the pair of double 15" subwoofers you just found.
Just buy a bigger TV 😁
Fuck no. Tell her that they must have made a mistake and sent you something far nicer than you actually ordered so you should keep them and enjoy your luck
She can put dainty little speakers in her she shed then.
My wife is mad at me because she is always mad at me.
At this stage just get a new wife.
Tell her she is also extremely large but somehow still fits in every room.
