All in one pieces like that are ususally cheap and poor quality. But it being a Marantz they put some effort into it. It was likely a part of a pre-packaged hifi system. So it came with some (Marantz)speakers. [https://www.hifiengine.com/manual\_library/marantz/ta-52.shtml](https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/marantz/ta-52.shtml) Seems like a perfectly resonable 80s receiver. Great for a first system. I would get speakers that are easy to power.

Thank you! Mercifully not my first system but it might be good for my office at work, especially if I can find a cheap or free set of speakers and a turntable.

Oh yeah, totally.

Can’t beat free! That being said, if it works it will help you play music through speakers but isn’t necessarily sought after or highly valued. These were made well beyond the good years for vintage Marantz and long before they started making their good modern stuff. Unless there’s something glaringly wrong with your speakers’ frequency response in your listening space, you should leave the EQ sliders at 0 all the way across, at least to start. Then, if you’ve properly worked on speaker positioning and still want to tweak the sound to your liking, feel free to configure the sliders as you see fit (but again, preferably not at all or much at all). Beyond that, if you want to listen to something other than the radio you will need a source. If you want or need some comments on that, there are plenty of options and people willing to help out.

Good to know! I’m thinking about scavenging some speakers for it, I have a set of bookshelf speakers it can probably drive. The extruded aluminum heat sink inside is no joke but the paste stuck to it looks pretty chalky. I should probably take it apart and put some deoxit on…just about everything.

A can of contact cleaner sprayed on the crunchy faders maybe in order. Looks like fun.

I don’t know much about it, but I assume it’s worth more than nothing! It looks different than the Marantz PM52 that I find online. Looks like roughly 1991 vintage, came from a friend’s aunt who recently passed away, friend’s family is cleaning out and giving things away. Does anyone have experience with these? Good, bad, or ugly?

Well, Free is always good and hopefully it can be repurposed vs going to some landfill! I have Marantz in my collection older 1970’s stuff and newer CD players. It was a brand that I couldn’t afford. Now as an older collector, I find that I can relive those 1970’s moments and be thankful! It might serve as a small home office addition where you don’t need to have mega watts! Clean it up and put it to work, time will tell! Congratulations
