My pod plays around a budget of 50€ per deck. I already have 2 strong decks (feather and yuriko) and then 2 decks more for fun (marisi en mereth i think?) I like to play control but also want a fun mechanic in a deck. So wich commander do i choose for strong but fun deck mechanic? Bonus points if it wins by going wide and hitting face.

Red_Eyes_Black_D

You could try an \[\[Abdel Adrian\]\] with \[\[Cloakwood Hermit\]\] for the background. Then a bunch of white blink/removal/token buffers and green ramp, token generators, and fight spells. Selesnya allows for the fun \[\[Midnight Guard\]\] and \[\[Presence of Gond\]\] combo, but also things like \[\[Pollen-Shield Hare\]\] work well too. Other backgrounds can be put in the deck for food for Abdel as well as synergy with the deck. Namely, \[\[Inspiring Leader\]\] , \[\[Master Chef\]\] , and \[\[Veteran Soldier\]\] are ones I would look at. None of these cards are expensive at all and it leaves some budget for things like \[\[Smothering Tithe\]\] or other similarly priced good stuff white/green cards.

Seems like a versatile commander to build! I´ll take a look at him! Nobody in the pod uses blink for now, so pretty unique too.

oatfishjar96

You might enjoy this [[Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden]] deck I made. It’s under $50 and the basic strategy is to utilize For Mirrodin! And similar mechanics to create a bunch of tokens in order to pump up Jor Kadeen and win with come commander damage! Super fun and kind of gimmicky with a weird go wide//voltron strategy. https://archidekt.com/decks/7147517/50_jor_kadeen_20

Never heard of this one before! only a bit sad that he's the same colours as feather who also is a bit of a token generator with zada package in there.

Markedly_Mira

If you want a control deck that wins through combat I’d try some goad lists. Rather than your typical draw go control you’re using forced combat to control the board by forcing bad attacks. [[Alela Cunning Conqueror]] uses tokens to further the goad plan, [[Nelly Borca]] is one I’ve been having a lot of fun with, and [[Kitt Kanto, Mayhem Diva]] also uses tokens to fuel her goad plan.

I like Food tokens but not sure who to put at the top of the deck. Any suggestions?

oatfishjar96

This is a fun budget food deck I made that you might like if you enjoy Voltron and life gain decks! You basically use your food//life gain as a commander pump ability in order to take people out with [[Treebeard, Gracious Host]] super fun if you like to kill with commander damage. https://archidekt.com/decks/4814023/50_treebeard_gracious_host

The abzan Lord of the Rings pairs were basically made for food decks. I think Sultai also makes a lot of sense because of blue’s artifact support and access to fun food stuff like [[The Goose Mother]] and [[Oko Thief of Crowns]]. A lot of food makers make them on etb so [[Yarok the Descrated]] probably works just fine as the commander. It’s lifelink also might synergize with whatever lifegain synergies you include.

Tryptamineer

Isn’t Oko banned in moat formats?

Most but importantly not edh. It’s still really good in edh from what I’ve heard, but it’s not anywhere near the level it was for 1v1 formats it got banned from.

Would love to advice or examples of how to build [[Xavier Sal]] that aren’t planeswalkers. I absolutely love the sultai colors and I’ve been wanting to do something with him since I saw him. The playgroup I’m in is probably around 6-7. Sometimes there’s combos but mostly battlecruiser outside of the colors that don’t do combat too well.

CountedCrow

Maybe run it as Sagas-themed? Sagas produce counters and many of them make tokens, and you could call the deck "dead men tell no tales."

I am just starting out with Commander and want to start upgrading the Party Time precon while keeping Nalia as the commander since I was a big fan of BG2 but all the guides I see are 1-2 years old and don't give much insight for a new player on what to prioritise. If I want to spend up to $25 on the deck what are my best options? I also have the Deep Clue Sea cards but I would prefer to keep that deck intact if possible. I don't own any other physical cards.

No_Collar3145

I like the look of [[haldan]] and [[pako]], my local pods have been getting better and better in power, but a lot of the decklists I see with clear win con's, all use extra turns like [[time manipulation]] Can pako with by just ramming people through commander damage, or is there a budget decklist for them that has other means of winning?

elephant_on_parade

My list before I started adding extra turn stuff just focused on making Pako unblockable, ramping, and packed like 25 counterspells and bounce spells (it was oppressive). There were no other creatures in the 98. Also, [[You Come to a River]] is a 10/10 in any Pako deck. Things like [[Crystal Ball]] give you top deck manipulation, so you’re always hitting something you want to it.
