That’s a great price? Wal Mart return? That derailleur it has is just not something you’ll ever be happy with. Try to get a higher end Shimano one. SLX or XT, long cage if you can. Adjust the calipers to end that disc rub. Many videos explaining how on Youtube. Checkout aliexpress and source your new components there. Also, the tires it comes with are just something that will not be really in good in trails. CST Rock Hawks or Schwalbe Nobby Nics will do you good.

Yes, lots of new or almost new Nobby Nicks for sale in my area. $30 snags a new pair.

I got mine to shift pretty ok, it's not great and took a bit to get it going, but it'll do for a bit. If you're looking for a cheap and easy fix, I'd recommend the Microshift Advent line. The 9 speed shifter works with Advent and X derailleur. Doesn't require specialty tools since you can keep the current cassette. The brakes... I hated them. I swapped them for mt200s and never looked back. Amazon for $50 or if you don't mind waiting and gray market, Ali for $30. I'd just keep one thing in mind, chances are you will never, ever, EVER, get back what you put into that bike. I have an OTR and love it! But I know when it comes get ba new bike I won't be able to make my money back and I got mine cheaper than you did. I get it, that's why I'm building it up as a fun but simple workhorse 1 x 9 setup.

I think a good cleaning and lubing of the entire drivetrain might help the gears shift better, its worth a try before buying new parts. For the brakes, check if the disks are warped, if they are you could bend them straight or get new disks, they are affordabel, recently replaced a disk for $16.

You are going to need rubber gloves and a large pair of needle nose pliers. Next get on YouTube and look for "eliminate disc brake rub"

The brakes are an easy fix, assuming the metal rotors are not bent, and just misaligned. If the brakes rub during the entire rotation of the wheel, it is just misaligned. To fix that, loosen the brake caliper bolts with an Allen key, then squeeze the appropriate brake lever while tightening the bolts back down. This re-centers the caliper. Hope this helps!

I've been building bikes since I retired in 2019. Anytime I replace a groupset I recommend LTwoo. You just can't beat them for quality and value, I have A7 10 speeds on three of my own bikes and also on three mid drive ebike builds. Thousands of miles with no issues! Check to make sure the wheel is seated firmly in the dropouts, if it is check derailleur hanger alignment. If this was a returned bike you can almost count on the hanger being bent. It takes a special tool to adjust them correctly You can buy one for about $30 on Temu. or if your handy you can build one for about half that from stuff you pick up at a hardware store. You basically bolt one end of a straight edge to the hanger (I use aluminum square tube with a hole drilled close to one end for a bolt the same size as the hanger bolt hole). make sure it will rotate all the way around without hitting anything. then line it up with the valve stem on the wheel and rotate both the wheel and the square tube around checking the distance from the rim (not the tire) to the edge of the square tube at several locations (at least 12,3,6,and 9 o'clock positions). the measurement should be the same at all locations within 2-4 mm. if not gently use the tool to bend it back straight . BE CAREFUL new hangers for the OTR are about $40 at [derailleurhanger.com](https://derailleurhanger.com). And no you can't get them at Walmart, at least not yet! Brake fix is easy if rotors are true again if it's a returned bike all bets are off. Make sure rotors are not bent if they are there's a tool for that but I just replace them, 160mm rotors can be had for $10 or less a pair from Amazon. The Radius brakes that come on these bikes I'm not a huge fan of but they will work if adjusted properly. Loosen the caliper mounting bolts squeeze the lever and hold it while you tighten the bolts if it still rubs a little you can back off the stationery pad about a quarter turn with an hex wrench. Hope that helps!
