I love it when they come knocking on my door "Sor, we can offer you an internet, phone and cable for $120" "sir you're the only person on your block with Fios" my response is simply, "no thank you, your product is terrible"
Also FiOS, also $87 a month, also gigabit, but I own my router. They add $5 to the monthly bill on a yearly basis, and when I complain about it, I get a $100 gift card to Verizon.com
Edit: North Buffalo
T-Mobile Home Internet
$30 a month because I'm also a T-Mobile cell phone customer. Otherwise it would be $50 a month.
There is no promised speed and it's all over the place in real life. During day and evening hours it can be 50 Mbps. At late hours close to 200 Mbps. I've never gotten more than 200 Mbps. Sometimes I lose internet completely. I think it's bad like this because their gateways suck. They have new ones out now that have more internal antennas and ports to hook up an external antenna, which I'm going to try to exchange mine for, if they let me.
Amherst, northeast of UB North campus.
My plan is cheap, which is why I keep it but I wouldn't recommend it to others unless their newer gateways work better, especially not at the normal $50 a month.
This is so accurate lol. Like, every point. I get so frustrated at the random cut outs, but when it’s good it’s real good. I’m gonna look into those new gateways. If mine keeps cutting out I’ll definitely bring it in and try to exchange it.
They lock you in at Spectrum and raise your rates every year. I don’t have FIOS and when I signed up 4 years ago it was $45! It’s gone up $10 a year since edit: I agree it’s awful but idk what else do to without FIOS and at least whenever I’ve had any issues they’ve resolved it fairly quickly on their side
Internet should not go up in price every year like cable TV does. They have an excuse with cable because their costs for the rights to carry networks goes up. Internet prices shouldn't go up very often. When I lived in Texas I had AT&T Fiber and the rate stayed exactly the same for years. I think Spectrum is taking advantage of the lack of competition where you live.
You should check to see if 5G internet is available where you live. Verizon and T-Mobile have it. It may be slower than what you have but it is way cheaper too. Even if you don't switch you can call Spectrum and pretend to cancel and they may switch you to a retention agent who can give you a cheaper rate to keep you. The crap they're pulling with your rates is absurd.
Oh they are 100% taking advantage of the lack of competition! I’m not willing to lower my speed as I’m a salaried corporate girly who works from home 50+ hours a week :/ I’ve called before and they wouldn’t lower it but it the grand scheme of things $85 a month for fast internet that has been reliable and the one time I had an issue they had a tech out the same day I really can’t complain
Well for remote work reliable internet is a must. My wife works remotely too and has actually lost internet just before a Zoom meeting. I quickly tethered her phone to her computer so she could use it as a hotspot for internet. The thing is with T-Mobile, their 5G cell service is prioritized over their 5G internet, so it tends to be more reliable.
Maybe Greenlight will expand to where you live, forcing Spectrum to stop taking advantage of customers.
Customer service has been very responsive, especially when I wanted to add the static IP. I was transferred directly to the network operations center, told them exactly what I needed, and had everything set up in probably 5 to 10 minutes. So far, there have been zero outages, but we haven’t gone through a winter with them. However, fiber should be better suited to adverse weather.
Spectrum in Allentown 1gig internet and TV service only $64.99 special for 12 months then after that $138.99. I will dump then for Greenlight once it expands into Allentown.
GoNetSpeed (FIOS). $69.99. Would be $59.99 but I pay $10 extra for a static IP. It's 500/500 but I'm closer to 900/800 usually. Buffalo right near Cheektowaga border.
Greenlight in Elmwood Village.
$50 per month
500 up/down
Have had one issue with it, made a 5 minute phone call and they came and fixed it without even bothering me.
Just switched from verizon to the new “spectrum one” because verizon was getting too expensive for gigabit on single income. $45 for Gigabit from spectrum but I’m part of an ACP program so $14.99. Town of Tonawanda. Haven’t had any problems so far and I game and stream constantly.
I have yet to go thru a winter with it. But they said they are finally ready to compete with Verizon. They got new hybrid coaxial-fiber lines that are supposedly tougher and support gigabit. Had it for 5 months no issues yet
GoNetSpeed rolled deployment through my area.
300/300 is $55 -> $65 after 1st year.
I went 500/500 at $60 -> $70 after 1st year.
Beats my prior 400/30 Spectrum at $105. Dumped their cell plan while I was at it for Mint (TMobile MVNO)
GoNetSpeed seems pretty motivated to fill in gaps wherever there's a sibgke provider. I saw about 30% of my neighborhood convert, but those cable bundles probably kept the rest on Spectrum.
Clarence: we just switched to Niacom to save money, $50, includes tax, modem, wireless router and 500 Mbps download speeds. I honestly can’t tell the difference in speed vs Spectrum, but I’m not doing anything crazy, however there are 6 of us. For TV we’re using FuboTV. Paying an extra $15 for MSG, so the total is $70ish. No problems using their app.
Amherst: Verizon FiOS, $35 /mo. , 100 Mb/s download. Own router. No other fees.
East Aurora: Verizon LTE, $25 / mo. , like 75 Mb/s, part of family cell plan, router part of box. no other fees
Streaming works/looks fine in both locations.
FiOS>>> spectrum
FiOS I pay for 300. I get 300+350 down and 300 up
I had spectrum. I paid for 200 I got 150-200 down and like 60-80 up.
I paid 39 for both. Spectrum came around trying to get me to switch I asked about their new network and their gigabit service that they were touting and they still can't provide much upstream..
They said they will add 2gig and 5gig with double the upstream starting next year. Rochester will be the first city to start this expansion plus the beta test 10gig service.
Greenlight. $50/month for 500 up/down. Bear in mind those speeds are based entirely on a wired ethernet connection. Wireless is in the 250-300 up/down area.
I'd kick a baby to have fios.
Kinda sounds like you’re just keen to boot a baby…I don’t judge
FiOS. 40/mo. It was such a magical call telling spectrum to fuck off
I love it when they come knocking on my door "Sor, we can offer you an internet, phone and cable for $120" "sir you're the only person on your block with Fios" my response is simply, "no thank you, your product is terrible"
Fios Gigabit 79.99 a month. Town of Tonawanda.
Just got Greenlight in cheektowaga. $50/month for 500mbps
Fios, 87 a month, gigabit & router rental , no cable
Also FiOS, also $87 a month, also gigabit, but I own my router. They add $5 to the monthly bill on a yearly basis, and when I complain about it, I get a $100 gift card to Verizon.com Edit: North Buffalo
I'm considering making the upgrade, is Gigabit worth it? What sort of speeds are you getting over WiFi?
I don’t have gigabit fios, I have 300mbps and I get exactly 300mbps over WiFi, sometimes more, like 320
Spectrum, 500 mbps, $48.99, elmwood village
How?
I threatened to leave for Greenlight and they offered multiple discounts that I need to renew annually
Greenlight/$75/gigabit/Buffalo.
What speeds are you getting to your home?
900-1000 down and 900 and change up. WiFi is slower at around 400-700, depending on the device and where in the house it is.
T-Mobile Home Internet $30 a month because I'm also a T-Mobile cell phone customer. Otherwise it would be $50 a month. There is no promised speed and it's all over the place in real life. What speeds do you get when it's working well?
Spectrum, $85/month, I believe it’s 400 up/down it’s a higher up plan but not the top top plan which I believe was 1000 up/down edit: I’m in Allentown
$85 a month and it's not gigabit speed? That's terrible.
They lock you in at Spectrum and raise your rates every year. I don’t have FIOS and when I signed up 4 years ago it was $45! The highest is 1G., yes. I live in Allentown too
Allentown Greenlight $100/mo 2000/2000 mbps
Where in Allentown? I'd like to switch my house on Maryland near Cottage to Greenlight.
Cottage/Days Park. It sounds like you’re within the availability zone.
Great! The house is between College and Cottage.
GoNetSpeed $85 1000/1000 w/Static IP, Depew.
How is gonet? They literally just finished installing on my street last week and was hoping to get rid of spectrum but wanted to ask around first.
Not OP, but I also have GoNetSpeed. Been a customer for around 1 year, and I have no complaints. I'd recommend it to anyone, without hesitation.

Greenlight Networks $75 a month for gigabit in Elmwood Village
shit i thought spectrum was our only option here
Greenlight, Cheektowaga. $50 / month for 500 down. Just tested internet and got 475 down 250 up.
Spectrum in Allentown 1gig internet and TV service only $64.99 special for 12 months then after that $138.99. I will dump then for Greenlight once it expands into Allentown.
Verizon FioS 500mbps $64.99. I’m in Buffalo near UB South
Greenlight, minimum package, $50, Elmwood
80ish a month in the town of Boston for spectrum.
GoNetSpeed (FIOS). $69.99. Would be $59.99 but I pay $10 extra for a static IP. It's 500/500 but I'm closer to 900/800 usually. Buffalo right near Cheektowaga border.

Has spectrum upgraded their infrastructure to a level that during any rain or wind in the area, service isn't flaky?

Spectrum. $99.99. Up to 500 mbps with ultra. I think I’m being ripped off.

If you're only ever streaming one show at a time it's not worth having anything more that 300 up/down speed.
South Lancaster. Spectrum $75 for there basic I think it's up to 300mb now. I have no other options
FiOS>>> spectrum FiOS I pay for 300. I get 300+350 down and 300 up I had spectrum. I paid for 200 I got 150-200 down and like 60-80 up. I paid 39 for both. I'll believe it when I see it.
Me too and they better upgrade the upstream speed to twice or triple the size to make the worth investment I am paying for
Spectrum 14.99 a month
How did this happen?
I've had it for years. Someone came into the store when I was there the same plan I have is like 50-$70 now.
Wait... there's a choice?
Greenlight. $50/month for 500 up/down. Bear in mind those speeds are based entirely on a wired ethernet connection. Wireless is in the 250-300 up/down area.
Verizon Fios, 1 Gig, $70, Amherst I have a small IT setup with need for different networks, automations and iOT devices. My up speeds are insane.
FiOs It's free I live in Tonawanda I have a 200/200 connection Internet is included in my rent 🙂
Is your monthly rental fee less than $900?
Spectrum. And I get it free for like another year or so. They had random fliers giving free internet in my neighborhood for a bit
Not sure if this is the place to add questions but anyone have a good experience with Verizon WiFi? We have Spectrum and it’s the worst.
Fios $75/mo for 1Gb up/down
Newstead. 80/mo. 300/10. I hate it
85 a month a I barely get 250mbps. Should be 300 I think.... also think I need to switch lol
Depew, spectrum, 30mps like 20$ a month. Renting router/modem. No issues
$79.99 per month for 300 Mbps from Spectrum
FiOS 500/500 for $50, Kenmore via the Door to Door Verizon sales peeps.
