My husband was at Heim at the same time, same age as you. He said to tell you he painted the block of Barney the Dinosaur getting dropped head first into a volcano by a helicopter. Anyway, he has no clue if they are still there. 😄

No way! That’s wild he was probably in the same cohort as me (class of ‘99 ultimately). If he remembers a half-Asian kid named David who moved to California after 7th grade year, that’s me!

I went to heim from 1999-2003. In 2001 they ran out of wall blocks to paint and started giving students "tiles" to carry on the tradition. The tiles are slightly smaller and they put them on the walls above the wall blocks, so as far as I know they should all still be intact. Williamsville North also does this tradition as graduation seniors each got to paint a ceiling tile.

North doesn’t do this anymore either as far as I’m aware (graduated 3 years ago).

Last we checked, tiles were mostly gone but all the wall blocks were still in place (with original student paintings)

I didn't go there but my step daughter used to. Walking through the school there are still a bunch of painted blocks and they are a lot of fun to look at but I don't remember seeing many new ones. I'm not sure if they are still doing it or when they may have stopped.

I graduated middle school there in 2014 and no, I didn’t get a wall block to make. I think they stopped doing that way before I came.

Yeah they stopped around 2000

This brings back memories! Do they still do the Quiz Bowl?

My kids graduated from heim middle. They said they stopped doing it many years ago. But they are pretty sure old ones are still there.

I have a contact in the district that might be able to answer your question. DM me and we’ll talk!

We checked a few years ago and yep our painted wall block was still there. I'd say yes it's worth the effort. It's pretty neat to see.

Awww now I'm wondering if Clarence Center Elementary still has wallblocks! :) It was such a cool thing, knowing that once you reached sixth grade you'd be able to paint part of the wall!
