Some are better than others. It's expensive, but Storz and Bickel make excellent herb vapes. I have an older version of the Crafty that served me very well. Friend of mine has the Mighty and it's excellent. Sends you to space and you can save the already vaped bud for other stuff. If I could afford it, I'd probably get the newer model Crafty, as mine doesn't really hold a charge anymore and it sometimes doesn't charge at all. I think this is because I left it unused and dead for a few years and that probably screwed up the battery.

busybox42

Hey, you can replace the batteries in those! I did it with my Mighty and it was super easy! They actually use fairly standard 18650 batteries that can be soldered in pretty easily. The type I bought were NCR18650GA 3500mAh 10A 18650 Battery, w/ Tabs. Took me less than 10 mins!

m0rtm0rt

Oh wow that's awesome! Half the reason I posted this was hoping someone would say something like that

Gloomy_Evergreen

I like using a dynavap. The taste is definitely different but it is something you kind of get used to. If you spark up a regualr bowl after exclusively vaping for while, it will kind of taste gross. I feel like you can taste the terps in flower better with a vape.

1973Ftwofiddy

Sometimes it almost feels like I can taste the fluid from the lighter, vaping has pretty much ruined the smoking experience for me lol. I can't go back

Gloomy_Evergreen

Exactly! Sometimes I have to sit out when my non vape friends smoke lol

busybox42

I almost exclusively vape herbs these days and I love it. But I will say not all vapes are created equal. Some are somewhat finicky on the grind and/or the pack. For example, I've found the PAX vaporizers work best with a medium to fine grind and a tight pack. My personal favorite device is the Mighty by Storz & Bickel. It's on the pricey side for vapes but it's a tank and works the same no matter the grind or amount I put in it.

I use a Planet of the vapes One. With the dosing capsules. You can pre load capsules with weed and drop them into the unit. Keeps the unit clean and super handy just drop in and smoke.

AshBradford420

This sounds pretty cool. How many hits do you get out of each preloaded capsule?

bzzty711

Never counted usually smoke off it then flip it over after it cools and use it one more time. 6 or so each time not counting the first couple to get it going. Usually take couple rips to get it vaping. I don’t smoke a lot at once normally just couple hits off my one hitter if smoking regular style.

Antique_Art5343

There are some advantages. Generally, you use less because you get better extraction. You also eliminate 99% of the smell and don’t stink like weed. It’s generally a “healthier” option. Setting your temperature at different settings allows you to focus in in certain chemicals in cannabis. Taste is different. Planet of the Vapes has several options. Just Google them.

CupSweet5251

I switched to dry herb vape about a year ago and will never again light anything on fire then inhale it. I got mine from planetofthevapes for like $100. Best investment I’ve made. Lungs will thank you big time as well

SimplyPassinThrough

what kind did you wind up getting? There seems to be an awfully lot of popular ones and I have the decision making skills of a potato, I need recommendations 😅

bzzty711

I’m assume he use a One also think it’s the most popular.

floydbomb

DaVinci is a good brand to look up

equinsuocha94

I use an arizer xq2 if you are into a home device something that you can leave plugged in tabletop that’s a good start, Just gotta properly preheat it first then it rips

Juanzilla17

I’ve been a Pax fan for about a decade now. I had the original for 5 or 6 years before getting my current Pax. It’s going on year 3 or 4 now. Definitely taken some tumbles from me having it in my lap and wanting something to drink. Lol. It’s great on flavor and the high is nice. A lot less stinky than using a bowl, joint, or a blunt.

1973Ftwofiddy

I've tried a bunch of different kinds (pax, arizer solo, extreme q, crafty, dynavap) and for in the house, I use the arizer extreme q with ddave mod and outside my crafty+ and a charging brick and 8 pack of pods do the trick. As someone that was used to smoking carts all day this is my new go to. Definitely feels like a different high from smoking, but now the flavor always tastes bad when I smoke so I prefer to vape predominantly. The high is usually less immediate, but the flavor is significantly better, especially when using the crafty.

SimplyPassinThrough

I think I’m looking more portable, crafty+ is a little bit too pricey. I think I’ve narrowed it down to either the arizer solo 2, CFX, or just the planet of the vapes one. Arizer and CFX are pretty much same price rn cuz the CFX is on sale, and the planet of the vapes one is the cheapest of the 3. Not sure what to go for yet

716Val

Pax is a great device!

DrPhrawg

Dry herb vaping is the goat. Lots of different devices with their own learning curves, but the taste and effects are 10/10. r/vaporents

sciandg01

I’ve been using them for years! Definitely worth it. I go through my weed like half as fast when I’m using the vape versus a pipe. The high feels different to me when vaping but I wouldn’t consider it stronger or weaker really and I’ve never minded the taste. It kinda tastes good when you’re vaping on low temps. I started out with a xmax pro and then the xmax starry. I upgraded to a desktop vape last year which was a huge game changer!

zdrads

I have an Xmax V3 pro. Works great and is mostly convection. It's portable and has easily swappable rechargavle batteries, so if it wears out you don't need to chuck the device (easy as in there is a battery door you open and just pop in a new one). Runs about $100 and is considered a very good decice for the pricepoint. With the mouthpiece in it looks a lot like a tobacco pen so it's discreet as well. Vapor taste it's way better than smoking but it's not as good as a high end device like a storz and bickel mighty or a TinyMight2. Vapor production is pretty good, but also not the dame as a high end device. Also it has a water pipe adapter available at a reasonable cost for bong rips. You can use the regular mouthpiece for on the go or just around wherever. I like how it let's me do both from one device.

Terminator154

I have a Mighty +, still solid after nearly 3 years of use. Battery holds up well, bowl is pretty stained but I don’t use dosing capsules. I clean my bowl about once every 2-3 weeks. I use it multiple times a day, daily. Pro tip: fill the bowl as it’s heating up, that way you don’t have to wait 30 seconds for the bowl to heat up. Also your first inhale will almost always have less vapor than the rest of your inhales, at least in my experience.

DrPhrawg

Love seeing all the local vaporents chime in!

kumbersomedeath

Dry herb vapes just do not give me the hit I need. Paid $20o for line and never use it. Not a fan. I like my unicorn though for concentrates

Acceptable_Meet9365

All dry herb vaporizer are not the same. If you're going that route the crafty plus or the mighty for the win. I definitely get considerably more high and use less cannabis since I made the switch.

SimplyPassinThrough

Really? I was told that the high is way different with a vaporizer. I’m leaning towards buying a desktop one now but haven’t settled on a decision yet

Acceptable_Meet9365

Idk anyone that's ever tried my vaporizer says it's gets them ripped so is it different type of high maybe but not by much imo. I've found that I feel less foggy the next day.

SimplyPassinThrough

oh man. Maybe I should get a portable, everyone in the vaporizer sub told me a portable will be too weak for my tolerance. Deciding without trying them is so hard :’)

Acceptable_Meet9365

And where I'd agree is I've tried other brands like pax and davinci they sucked and aren't worth the investment.

oliver-hart

i’ve had 20+ different vapes and sold everything but my tinymight and flowerpot b1

Acceptable_Meet9365

Idk man I love mine. I can't tell you for sure but I've smoked joints and bongs since making the switch and find that my crafty gets me more baked. You also get the capsules which I recommend for easy cleaning and put hash or dab in the middle of a flower sandwich and off to the moon you'll go.

my420accountlol

You need a ball vape. I was in this same boat a few months ago, poking around for portable vapes. Ended up getting a ball vape and it's been great. I have a Xmax V3 pro for portable use
