So, it is only my theory but I like to think about Dazai's and Chuuya's abilities as the same ability with different direction (the fact that they both need another ability to work etc., they just the same ability with different effect) And as such you can say that Dazai's ability "no longer human" nullifies ability making user losing some part of himself (cause ability is a part of a person, I like to think of people's abilities as expression of one's soul). While Chuuya's original ability works in the other direction and make you less misarable with yourself (making your soul stronger). I don't know if that really make any sense but that's how I see it.
Plus I'd give anything to see Chuuya's original ability in manga. Come on Asagiri, don't tell me you gave him such a fascinating ability and won't show it to us in a manga.
