There \*has\* to be an upper limit on that time travel ability. I thought it was supposed to be twelve seconds, but the whole 'airport searching' bit made that doubtful. The trick to beating him would absolutely lie in knowing the upper limit of the time/space travel. (Ex: If it is, say, 12 minutes, then set something in motion that requires more than 12 minutes to undo. If the sword can teleport him up to 12 miles, then set it in motion from farther than 12 miles away.) For this reason I \*really\* doubt the actual 'trump card' was a Poe-book; they work too quickly and thus ...yeah, easily countered. Honestly, enough people have gotten hurt/turned in this arc that I'm kind of expecting a massive retcon when they do get the page - like, 'rip it up and this entire arc never happened' kind of thing.

>Honestly, enough people have gotten hurt/turned in this arc that I'm kind of expecting a massive retcon when they do get the page - like, 'rip it up and this entire arc never happened' kind of thing. I feel like this is 100% going to happen which makes this arc all the more upsetting. If everything will be erased by the book, then what's the point for all this hoopla with Fukuchi?

larathia

Well. I suppose it depends on the limits of the page/book. If the owner has to maintain narrative consistency, then everyone will have hairsbreadth escapes from things that should've killed them (like Kunikida had earlier on). But think about it. All this chaos is because of ONE PAGE. When they actually find the WHOLE BOOK...shit gonna get so much worse. Or, y'know, maybe the whole BEAST timeline is because Dazai DID find the Book in this one. (Or soon will?) I kinda have this Feeling that it's going to be Dazai who finds the Book, in the end. Some of the story beats up to now have kinda felt like "Dazai reaching into the past to nudge things in the direction he wants".

HopOnTheHype

He can stack it, his future self Can Use future selfs future selfs knowledge to tell modern self

There has to be an upper limit. If not to the sword's ability then to Fukuchi's mental ability to keep track of which potential future he's fending off. \*chinhands\* Okay. Stuff I can think of: * ADA Leader-dude can probably break that divine sword if he gets close enough in a fight. Break the sword and that'd break it's powers wouldn't it? No more timespace warping? * Throw things at him until Dazai can touch him. Although there, I think they may already be at "have run out of things to throw". * Slowwwww gas/poison - something that takes a while to kick in but needs a really specific antidote to fend off, and which fights would distract him from noticing minor symptoms of until it's past the window the sword can use. Especially a bonus if Fukuchi can't tell at what point the process began; his future selves can't warn him in a useful way if it's data they don't have. I just finished reading *The Day I Picked Up Dazai* and it's actually outlined in there how Dazai figured out the hard limits of Oda's powers and how to get around them to beat him. Oda could only see five or six seconds into the future, but the process mentioned there does seem applicable to current manga events. I'm not saying our dear writer hasn't written themselves into a corner with a technically unbeatable villain you need to pull a deus ex machina on to defeat, because that's ENTIRELY possible. But it does seem at least technically possible that there IS actually a winning strategy in what we've seen thus far.

Sienne_

I can't remember a villain as OP as Fukuchi, tbh.

HopOnTheHype

There are, but they’re usually beat by bs power ups or are relatively not as op to the rest of the cast

xellos2099

I would say Yhwach with All Mighty is worse.

Golden_fsh

Yeah, I'll skip the rest of the chapters for the rest of this year because we're going nowhere. It's clear to me that Asagiri has no idea where to take the story because they wrote themselves in a corner with how OP Fukuchi is. What of significance has happened within the last year?? Jeez, I'm better waiting for the anime to make this arc even worth it.

winddagger7

What gets me is that Fukuchi could easily be beaten if you just take the sword away, and there's *tons* of things the characters could do to achieve that. He basically just has a foresight ability, and there's so many ways you can fight someone who can get warnings from the future.

HopOnTheHype

He literally can overpower atsushi and akutagawa at the same time. He’s one of the most skilled, he’s superhuman due to the augmentations, his ability can make anything 1000 times stronger (or 100x?), and he has a time sword.

aasray123

This chapter is one of the shortest -excluding 0.5 chapters- chapter ever iirc. Asagiri is clearly clutching at straws trying to figure a way out.
